What's going on in here? |
Anyhow jo. Let them get what they want. |
I seldom participate in this kind of discussions. Debosky knows that I'm for Niger Delta topics only any day. LOL!! But I decided I should chip in one or two things, seeing that the likes of honourable Jakumo, David, McKren, Richyblack, Otokx, and of course, the Odidigboigbo of Nairaland himself, Oga Seun has aired their views. For me, the advise from Smart that generator use should be banned to drive home the emergency power woteva, is ill-timed. This is definitely not the time for that. Our policy ''formulators'' should realise that beyond the cosy, cool and comfortable abode of theirs in Abuja, there lies wastelands, shanties, slums and ghettos in other parts of Nigeria. Nigerians are suffering in their hundreds of thousand all over the country. These people should look at issues before coming out to show us how stupid they are. Hopefully, when Afam power plant comes on line, we should be able to generate some ample power to meet the needs of the people, but I heard we might have to pay big time for the power coming from Afam. We will just wait until such a time that the project sees the light of the day. |
@McKren, No wahala. One love. |
Leadership problem is a general problem in Nigeria. It's not exclusive to the Niger Delta alone. OBJ (in the SouthWest) just finished ''commissioning'' the Hiltop Mansion at Abeokuta. He has several hundreds of plots of land at Abuja Maitama districts. Alao Akala is a thug. What is the name of the one in Ekiti? Thesame goes for the governors in the S/East. Egwu of Ebonyi I understand used all the money allocated to his state to fund Presidential Election runs. The bearded sharia enforcer in the North was recently accused of mass-looting Zamfara state treasury. What about the pastor-governor at Taraba? Don't bring leadership problems to the fore as if it's exclusive to us in the Delta. It's all over Nigeria. |
McKren:And what are you insinuating here? What meaningful contributions have you made to the discussion so far? |
There's no reason for one to go emotional here. Good things dont come easy. That's why the struggles continue until such a time that we get what we want. I have stated earlier on that the main problem here is the ''ojoro'' system of government we are practicing. And when we bring this up, some of you guys say ''allowing'' the Delta people have what's due them will make them exterminate each other and other bla bla bla talks. Practice true Federalism, and lets see if there won't be calm in the delta. Lets see if MEND will not dissapear into thin air. Lets see if there will be any Ateke Tom anywhere. Practice true fiscal federalism, and lets take it up from there. |
All you have up there aren't exclusive to the Niger Delta alone. It's all over the place. . . . . .David indeed hit the nail on the head with a loud thud when he said we aren't practising true federalism in this country. That's the main issue on ground. |
I had a discussion around this Julius Berger matter with my Ijaw friend from Oporoma yesterday. We find it difficult to comprehend why indigenes of an area, whose means of livelihood companies are trying to enhance, will suddenly pounce on a company and destroy their equipment without any form of provocation. Its sheer devilment! And I do not think our people are that cruel. I suspect foul play. The way and manner the kidnapping was done, the killing of security personnel and blowing up of armoured vehicles with dynamites beats me. Someone is trying to force Julius Berger out so that the contract can be awarded to his own company! I still insist that we have mixed multitudes fomenting trouble in the Niger Delta, and they are from the outside. But, why should I bother much. The State security apparatus cannot even cater for the needs of people in the country. How do they plan to effectively curb the criminal trends in the Niger Delta?! The army guys drafted to the delta to protect oil facilities are themselves into bunkering of the highest order. They even offer protection for bunkerers. The whole place is littered with all manner of persons with one form of interest or another. I am waiting for a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. |
empty. |
I gathered some hoodlums from neighbouring Abia, Edo and Imo States often come to the core delta states to perpetrate heinous crimes. Aside from the fact that there are genuine agitators whose activities are in line with the general views and wishes of well meaning Niger Delta people, there is no gainsaying the fact that a large population of miscreants from other states have effectively hijacked the struggle. The other day, a 22 year-old boy from somewhere in Aba, Abia state was arrested for kidnapping a 5 year old kid in Portharcourt! Also, I read in some papers that there are indeed criminal elements ''breeding'' seriously in the creeks of the delta - Mixed Multitudes! I suggest a crack unit of the Police force be drafted to the Delta to fish out hoodlums from elsewhere who are doing all they can to rubbish the real struggles of our people. |
Big B1:I think it's because the means and funds with which the country is run doesn't come from anyone. It's from a region they term ''Exclusive Economic Zone'' - The Niger Delta. |
lol!! |
Jakumo:What da? Sewers? What in the world has sewers got to do with this? LOL!! |
hanen:Oh dear , now I can see . . . . I didn't know about that, pardon me . . . Afam can be a pain at times. And he can be very good at other times. I guess he's just not at his best this time around. |
You haven't finished yet. Please go on. |
It was as if the hanen (boy or girl) has some beef with Afam. People just leave the main issue at stake and chase after irrelevant things. |
Eziachi, You did put up a superb argument up there. |
davidylan:POINT. Eziachi:Another solid point. . . . . points raised by sane people in the past!! |
I'm yet to understand what this thread is about. Some of the write up of the originator is not yet clear. Did ''militants'' come in their numbers to garrison junction to participate in this test, as you want us to believe? How did they dress to the venue of the test? Did the carry guns to the place in question (as is typical of militants in the delta) to write the test? I hope you're not cooking up some stories to get busy people's attention. I have been living in PHC for years now, and I did not hear any single story about this your incident from all the several radio stations in town, or the newspapers. |
I don't know what telecom project you're talking about. . . . . . . . Damn, u guys just can't see issue. ''Give'' the Delta the same federal financial muscle you ''applied'' to get Abuja to where it is today. Lets see if kidnapping won't stop. Besides, the real issue on ground transcends ''FG give me this or that''. It's about the ''heritage'' of a people. I have stated this in some of my old posts. I'm not ready to dabble into all that thrash now. I'm just tired and fed up. I just want MEND to blow up everything. . . . . .that's all. |
Blue boy, No point joining issues with you. You apparently don't understand the kind of Federal structure we have on ground here in Nigeria - or maybe you know, but you just want to be myopic! Good luck. I dey wait for better people to respond. |
And is Washington DC much developed as Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, Boston ? American-Nigerians, abeg, make una helep us. Is DC much developed than the cities stated above? |
You need to give me the monthly allocation to Abuja - (forget it's the capital of Hell) . . . . . . . . . . . .for producing next to nothing. |
samir101ng:What's all these mumbo jumbo, Samanja? Even if Abuja is the seat of African government, where is it stated in ''our'' (their) damned constitution that because a place is the capital of the country, it should be far ahead in terms of development compared to the areas where the resources funding the development of the capital seat comes from? I repeat this: I support wholeheartedly the bombing of all choice places across the country, starting with Abuja. I also support the crippling of oil exploitation and exploration activities until such a time that everyone (I mean the ethnic nationalities making up the entity called Nigeria) decides it's high time we left deceitfulness, crass misrepresentation of facts and sheer devilment on the part of the leaders of the lousy, lazy majority ethnic groups in the country, and face the challenges before us with a clear and resolute sense of responsibility. Until then, like Nuzo said, let the Gates of Hell brake loose - and unleash Hell's Fury on Nigeria!!! |
And people help me tell this blue boy to bring up a picture of Calabar town and compare it to what we have in Abuja. I don't want some fancy Tinapa picture ( I could as well bring the Bonny LNG recreational facilities and Shell RA pic from PHC to show). Show what we have with the common people. Within the spate of just 15-years, Abuja has become one of the fastest growing cities in the world . . . . within that time frame, nothing tangible was done to better the lot of the Niger Delta people. |
Brother mi, I have seen the school. Someone brought some handbills with comprehensive description of the school to my office. I honestly think we need to blow up the whole country. We need to clearly sit down somewhere neutral and decide how this country should be governed. I support the fight against injustice on the part of the militants . . . . . .let them blow up everything!!! Why should I go to my village, and all I see as dividends of oil and gas production over the past 40 years is some burning gas flare stack!!! God punish all the evil beings in this entity called Nigeria. Woe unto their generations after them!!!! |
Damn!! And you want militants to lay down their arms?? Where did all damned rulers in this country get the money to build such a place? Why on earth should a place like Abuja be that beautiful and and my Warri and PHC look like shanties?? I support the militants blowing up everything to shreds and fragments - including the damned Abuja!!! If they can find their way to Abuja to plant a nuclear bomb, let them do so. I'm so angry. Shit!!!! |
LOL!! Afam in . . . . . . .! |
You really dey craze. |
Err, I try to dissociate all the ''fetish stuff'' from pure entertainment most of the time. I have never attended any of the festivals myself. But I heard it's pretty colourful. , . . . . .and my, you're right. We could do all these festivals without bringing some gods and demons into the festivals. Don't know how that will work out in here. But it's worth trying to persuade the organisers to shape everything taking into consideration the religious background of everyone. I just want to have some fun. That's all. And if having fun will lead me into joining some deities and gods, then I'll have to back off fast. Isoko wadoo o o o o |
