FamilyRe: How Did You React To The News " I'm Pregnant"? by OperaMini1(op): 3:04pm On May 20, 2013
I remember we both broke down in tears, when she came in with the test results. I'd confess that those tears were not out of joy, but rather shock, as this was just 3 weeks after our wedding. All the fantasies we had on what and what we'd do before kids started coming, were all being thrown aboard, at that moment.

PoliticsIs Justice Really Blind In Nigeria by OperaMini1(op): 10:39am On May 02, 2013
I may not be a lawyer, neither am i learned in law, but i grew up hearing the saying that ' Justice is Blind'. In recent times, the quality of judgement been dished out from the Nigerian judiciary (the latest being the Osun phone theft), had made me to ask for our humble opinions on whether Justice is actually blind especailly in this Nigeria,

Thanks.

FamilyRe: Do Married Men Go Home After Work? by OperaMini1(m): 4:08pm On Apr 12, 2013
Yes, i do go home immediately from work. My job takes me out of town most often, so i can't afford to still stay away from the house when i'm working in my base. It has even become an issue for me, that immediately it's 6pm a particular call will come into mine, and the next question will be 'is it not yet time to come home'?

I'm happy to go home, those in the home are happy to see me.

PoliticsBayelsa Killing: Police Pay N1m For Kidnapped Corporal by OperaMini1(op):
THERE were reports on Thursday that one of the 12 policemen said to have been killed in the creeks in Bayelsa State, Corporal Lucky Ebebi, is alive and has been freed by his captors after police authorities paid a N1m ransom.

Ebebi and 11 other policemen were on Saturday ambushed and reportedly killed by gunmen in Azuzuama Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta also on Sunday claimed responsibility for the attack and confirmed that its fighters killed 12 policemen.

Our correspondent however learnt that the gunmen freed Ebebi, 31, on Wednesday after collecting N1m ransom from the police.

The corporal, said to have been in the service for seven years, was admitted at the emergency ward of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where he was treated for minor gunshot injuries but was discharged on Thursday morning and reported at the state police headquarters, Yenagoa, for debriefing.

When our correspondent visited the ward on Thursday afternoon, one of the doctors, who craved anonymity, said Ebebi had been treated and discharged.

“He only spent a night with us here. His gunshot wound was not serious because the bullet only brushed him off. He has lived up to his name, Lucky,” he said.

A security source told our correspondent that the gunmen kidnapped Ebebi after killing others and took him to a militant camp in the creeks........

Peter Obi once asked this question, 'Ndi Anambra ibe m (fellow Anambrarians), are we cursed or are we the cause'? If this thread then is a reflection of the fact that Anambra people are now interested in what becomes of/happens to their state, then the state is in for interesting times.

Seems these people are taking a cue of illegality from the former Anambra legislators. I'm aware that a judicial panel was set up to investigate the allegations against Agbaso just last week. When did they (panel) sit , when did they submit the report of their findings? This will surely be an interesting legal battle no doubt.

chaircover: Opera – where did your wife have her C/S? From the look of things, it seems that where it’s done does make a difference in terms of scarring etc. Just Like your wife Its like the op never happened for me.

Also like your wife, I have had both. I know that doctors are not too keen on women attempting a VB after a C/S because the worry that the uterus can rupture but I did my research and spoke up and so, my medical team agreed that I attempted a VG but they had the theatre on standby just in case. I was lucky and it wasn’t needed and it was all over in minutes.

But I will honestly tell you that I would pick the VB over a CS. You will be in pain a few days or even weeks after a CS and if you had general anaesthesia then you are tired, but you can’t sleep because you have a helpless baby to look after.

You cant pick things up, cant drive for a few weeks, you find it harder to find comfortable positions and if you were like me who had a cough after delivery (maybe from the gases they gave me to put me to sleep) you will be in serious pain, plus not forgetting that you have to make sure that your inscion doesn’t get infected. I bounced back much quicker after my VB and my hormones levelled off much better after the VB . . . . . Lets also not forget that a CS is a major op and as with all op’s there is a risk of death.
At a private facility in Owerri. Thanks shall for your incisive opinion.

debosky: It depends on the level of anger/offence - if you've done something really serious to upset your spouse, I think it's highly insensitive to request for sex under such circumstances since you know she is quite angry at the time. She isn't a prostitu.te that should provide sex on tap regardless of the situation.

While anger shouldn't simply be used as an excuse to deny sex, your 'church mind' should tell you when you've done something that will require some time for her to get over.
Bros, don't forget that this anger could be both ways o. Can you rightly oblige your wife with sex when you're angry with her?

chaircover: In response to the tummy bulging with scar comment . . . . . .

For those who have already had breakfast, caesarean section Scarring et al depends on the location of the cut and the surgeon. I had mine going on 17 years ago and if a surgeon then knew to cut only a thin line over a few inches along the bikini line and it can’t be seen, then I know that the surgeons these days are light years ahead. Mine was an emergency C/S but even with that, the surgeon did not just butcher just to get to the baby. Fair enough I remember when my stitches were being taken out, the nurse said I was lucky to have had the hospitals best surgeon, but 2 of my family members had caesareans a few years ago and you cannot see the scar and NO they don’t have bulging tummies either!.

Surgeons are not butchers and they have wives, daughters, sisters etc of their own too and wouldn’t cut a woman like they are cutting meat in an abattoir. Many take pride in their job and I am sure that they will want their work to be acclaimed as the neatest.

Yes once upon a time in the days of my grandmother, surgeons cut from top to bottom but I doubt anyone cuts that way.

Tears/episiotomies etc also depend on the experience of the midwife/doctor and how well the labour is being managed. Scarring & healing also depends on how well or badly the lady was stitched up.

My advice to pregnant women is to do your homework very well and select a hospital/surgeon/obs specialist that comes with the best recommendation from previous patients. You don’t have to go with your company hospital or the nearest to home hospital.
Madam, I don't know whether am alone in this thought , which is that I prefer a CS than the trauma of labour. My wife had a CS 3 yrs ago, and I even advocated she goes through it again in her last birth in Dec 2012, though she refused. It maybe cos the doctor that did it was so good that you'd hardly find the scar today.
