robosky02: Some people are crazy
Comparing a world cup winner (if you like call it U17) to an NPFL winner (which we know it was actually a super 6 winner not NPFL)
Do you know how many years it took Brazil to win the U17 world cup? What was the coaching experience or qualification of 31 years old Fanny Amun when he won it in 1993? Late Yemi Tella was an instructor at NIS when he guided the team to lift the trophy in 2007. Amuneke won it, good but he was the fifth Nigerian coach to win the cup. |

TheGoodJoe: I just feel it is unprofessional and insulting to make people waste their time applying for the job, while sticking with the person on the job. I hope it never repeats itself. I agree with you. GFA did the same. After receiving over 600 applications, they still went for Addo who didnt apply for the job because he didnt meet the 15 years working experience required. But for NFF, they really wanted foreign coach, they just dont have the money. |

humility33: Even when it comes to local coach I will pick Manu Garba to coach the super eagles over Amunike
He successfully managed under 17 and under 20 and even an NPFL side
The other one had a failed career in Zambian and Egyptian league and ordunder 20
We are not telling ourselves truth in this country
The under 20 job too I don't know how Ladan Bosso merit that job He is never my choice, his record as a coach is very poor, but am a big fan of Super Eagles, so i pray He succeed. |

Every speculation will end this coming week so let's wait and see. Definitely local coach. He also spoke of financial challenges the association is facing and increase in exchange rate. |

I am sick and tired of them. Give one of them the job now and watch the others beef That 94 set walahi has outlived their useless Funny enough majority of them didnt have even 50 caps with the team. Super eagles is for us all. I wish the new coach best of luck. |

AndSunGorilla: Valid point sir but another major achievement is qualifying Tanzania for the ANC after almost FOUR decades and since 2019 and Amunike's sack haven't qualified again. However he failed in club soccer as a manager. Tanzania was at the last AFCON. A coach qualified them for the tournament as well, infact, the only match they lost was against Morocco. They played draw with Zambia and Congo |

TheGoodJoe: The simple reason I am clamoring for Amunike is he is the best when it comes to delivering the possessive offensive philosophy. He understands the modern game and trained fully in it. If we had someone like Addo as a Nigerian I will call for him but we don't. Addo is also sound in the modern game. Has a lot to do with Pep Guardiola's influence on German football.
It will be hard for us to pull a foreign coach well versed in the modern game, that is why the clamor for Amunike.
It is not just about CV but delivering the philosophy. Yes, Addo is good. Dortmund even demanded 5M dollars release clause, not sure if GFA paid the amount anyway |

lovewins: Ideas he's not been able to scale at the senior level? Don't act like he's not got other jobs after his u17 triumph. Judge him by that. How did he fare in his subsequent jobs?
I am not against Amuneke and at some point was very pro giving him the job. But we shouldn't shift change the goalpost because of him. By your metric Manu Garba also deserves the job since he won the u17 world cup and had a good system there too. I asked this question on another thread from those pushing for Amunike. If He is a foreign coach with his CV and record, would they clamour for him to be employed as super eagles coach.? Our indegenous coaches need to be active. Otto Addo was part of the coaching crew at Dortmund, an ex Ghana international, now Ghana Coach. |

Nwamazi8: Abeg does anyone close to the NFF know why there's sudden silence about the coaching situation? Finidi is supposed to be the interim coach to manage both friendly games, but who are his assistants?
Secondly, the likes of Awoniyi, Gab Osho and from reports Osimhen are currently injured, who are their replacements? Do this NFF idiots realize we have a crucial WCQ in about 90 days time and should take our preparations very very seriously? According to report on leadership newspaper, the technical committee is convinced that foreign coach is the best for now, they will advise NFF to go with whoever is recommended, about 40 foreign coaches applied. But if Finidi should do well in the friendlies, he has a big chance getting the job |

robosky02: Amunike comes first in the pecking order
Amunike has better experience
Coach local team Coach African teams Groomed most of this boys....
So why delay him from taking over If a foreign coach has the same CV/record of Amuneke, will you clamour for him to lead the super eagles? |
Sports › Re: Finidi George To Manage The Super Eagles Against Ghana And Mali by opes: 7:30am On Mar 14, 2024 |
robosky02: Am not impress with this move Why give finidi George an edge over the others who also applied
Do the interview ... and appoint the new coach now
If Finidi George leads then and they win this NFF will just appoint him but is he the best?
I think he will be good sometimes in the future but for now he is not ripe for super Eagles
With all standard Emmanuel Amunike is ahead of him for now.
At best appoint Amunike and let Finidi George assist You are only looking at it in one direction. What if he fails to win the friendlies? He will be at disadvantage to get the eagles job. |

TheGoodJoe: However, we are talking of being trained and exposed to modern coaching methods. You guys only think result. Also think of philosophy. Also, qualifications too. Amunike has a Masters in coaching.
The cry is about playing a particular brand of football. Not just coaching. Must he only practice the modern coaching and his philosophy with super eagles? NFF should allow whoever who is interested to apply and pick on merit. |

Philosopher1979: It will be like rohr time. When he does rubbish we will not need able to fire him. The contract will say we must pay forb6 months if we fire him. He has no passion for us and looks down on us. He will not improve the midfield. Uzoho is his choice if nwabili gets injured. I say it again He is average. Amunike or someone else will do a better job. We are too poor to bankrupt ourselves. He is only there because some people want to collect part of his salary as per corruption levels. It's like buying a second hand cR for the price of a new car. He is a big waste of money Am not really okay with this Amunike talk taking over, his CV is very poor, what makes him qualify for the job also makes Manu Garba, even Fanny Amun qualify...U17 glory.. |
