odimbannamdi: Hello Optm,
Thanks for your replies all along. It is much appreciated.
The report says all is fine and the diagrams look normal, compared to the ones i have researched online. I will be taking the result to go see the consulting doctor at General Hospital, CMS, on Monday. Please find a copy of my scanned report attached. I will take it off as soon as you respond.
But i am wondering, doesn't a B-scan detect retinal tear? The flashes havent stopped entirely, but the frequency and area has reduced slightly. I am getting quite relieved now and know and believe i will be entirely fine, by God's grace.
My vision is still quite blurry and i was told that my optic nerve is inflammed (Optical neuritis), so i was given a steroid (Prednisolone) to relax it. I was told to take 4 tablets every morning for 1 week, 3 tablets the following week, 2 and 1 tablets the following weeks.
Let me know what you think, sir.
Thanks! hi dear it's not out of place to experience light flashes in optic neuritis. my suspicion for a retinal tear in your case was because there was a history of trauma. since you are diagnosed of optic neuritis, one can safely attribute the occurrence of light flashes you are experiencing to it. stick to your docs recommendations . although methylprednisolone is usually preferable as first line drug in treating optic neuritis as it reduces the risk of reoccurrence. i'm hopeful you will be fine . |

odimbannamdi: Good evening optm,
I went for a B-scan of the eye today and they affirmed that there is no tear in my retina. I even compared the result with google-searched images of retinal detached eyes and mine looks like its okay. I am considering doing another one by tomorrow though, to be doubly sure.
What do you think, sir? OK do u still experience the flashes? was anything suggested as the likely cause for the flashes? note : a retinal tear differs from a retinal detachment |

futurist369: 17+,almost two years now,I feel sharp pain in my right eye, headaches, I thought glasses cures myopia but it doesn't...now am gonna use glasses my entire life...... I still can't see far one can't really tell exactly what may be the exact cause of your symptoms unless your eyes are examined. I'll suggest you go to a good eye clinic as soon as you can as sometimes delay in attending to eye issues could cause irreversible vision loss. |

odimbannamdi: Hello Kannyluv,
How is your nephew's eye now. I really hope he is recuperating and seeing well with the eye now.
I am in a similar situation right now. Someone flung PET bottle and it hit me in the right eye. It happened early this month and most of the symptoms i was experiencing earlier has subsided, but i keep seeing this flashing light at the corner of the eye, my vision is still blurry and my pupils are dilated. I went to General Hospital, Lagos Island, last week thursday and i was given a stroid-based eye drop (to constrict the pupil) and prednisolone or so for the blurry vision.
But i still feel i need some more extensive examination. I would be glad if someone recommend a good hospital in Lagos for an examination. I am considering Eye Foundation, VI, or Metro Eye Clinic, Ikoyi, because they are closest to me. But i am open to better recommendations.
CC: optm, Drsteroid hi there . no doubt you need a more comprehensive eye exam. having flashes is usually a call for concern. in this case could be a retinal tear and if not managed in time, could lead to a retinal detachment and could progress to an irreversible vision loss. best wishes dear |

Lexusgs430: Nothing stopping you from using your phone too often.......
If you expose your sight to excessive bright lights, in dark environments...... Photophobia sets in......
Likewise also, excessively exposing your sight to normal 3rd party bright conditions could also damage your sight.....
Myopic vs Myopia? You decide........ exposure to light from smart phones wouldn't result in myopia but rather exposure over a long period predisposes one to developing ARMD. |
Health › Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by optm(m): 4:48pm On Jan 02, 2019 |
I will like to clarify some misconceptions here. photophobia (an abnormal sensitivity of the eye to light) is an ocular symptom associated with a number of eye problem s although the cause in some cases could be unknown. let's not mistake photophobia for glare ( discomfort or disability glare) which is caused by excessive light entering the eye or as a result of scattering of light rays entering the eye. |

So I will give the feedback on the effectiveness of the app with time.. Cc optm OK keep us updated |

Stop being hypocritical, the guy should dress how he wants to be addressed, why couldn't he wear a nice pam or sandal. You can look casual and still look good. come to me with bathroom slippers and hair dyed green or an abnormal color which mismatches your complexion, and I will treat you like a leper with manic disorder.

Lexusgs430: Nope..... An operation is the best way forward. An IOL is required .... Seek an ophthalmologist, you already got one here in optm (if locally based, might be able to assist)......
Optm no be so? you answered rightly. surgery is the only option now for cataract although there's an eyedrop 'can c' that people claims works for cataract in it's early stages. I haven't prescribed it for pt's because it's quite expensive and you'll have to use multiple bottles of the drops to get desired results. I do not have a first hand info on its claimed effectiveness. for the records , I am an optometrist not an ophthalmologist . |

gabbytabby: One is his pedigree another is we know that they asked him to agree not to go after them because they knew they had emptied the treasury.
It has been a very difficult 2 plus years for a lot of us and even i never contemplated that this can ever be as bad but it has been. But i know the investment in agriculture and infrastructure are now bearing fruits and things are on the mend also while not angels i trust this crop of people more than the ones who tell me stealing is not corruption and perpetrated the highest culture of fraud when their level of education really should have been an opportunity to show all of us how things needed to have been done since independence to benefit the people. Things were though not because he (Buhari)has stolen the money but because the looters had emptied the treasury.
So why for God's sake would i invite back the looters who emptied the treasury in the first place i ask myself. I am not a party person but i am totally invested in Nigeria and anyone who can show me what value they have added when given the opportunity gets my vote. truth is I do not trust this govt. it's a govt that thrives in propaganda and lies as have been revealed so many times . I do not take serious whatsoever claim of achievements they make; as the impact of such hasn't been felt by the common man. |
