Plz Sir I am in BENUE STATE, are you aware of any well equipped eye centre closer to me.

I had been to almost three different places in the state capital without getting any positive result.

The issue started 2 years ago when I started noticing
✓Sharp sentivity to bright light
✓Gritty feeling in my eyes as though there are small particles inside
✓I could hard open my eyes fully as I always feeling constant entrance of small particles.
✓It is only on my right eye, the other one is very okay
✓The eye looks normal when you are seeing it, no redness
✓I was feeling as though there is a scratch or wound on the outer covering of my eyes.

First , after examination via a gadget that looks like a sewing machine with other stuffs on top , they suggested steroids eye drop, since there is no improvement they later conclude is a dry eye and I was placed on artificial tears, later on after no improvement I was again given Ciprofloxacin eye drop.

All that happened in three different hospitals.

Presently, I do feel much strain or fatigue on the right eye, and it's as if the nerves connecting the eye is getting stiff and i could feel the discomfort, but the discomfort is more severe when an focusing on the screen of a laptop or phone.

I need your advice pls, it's seriously affecting my study.

I use phone more often too.

hi dear . wish I knew one I could recommend. Is the sensation of grittiness a constant or it's occasional . do you experience headaches when you engage your eyes in reading? Does the eye water / itch? Can you share a clear pic of d eye?

You had better focused more in developing every other areas of your life and not just ur cgpa alone. Having the best cgpa isn't what guarantees your success. It's not bad aspiring to come out with a good cgpa but u have to realize there's more to life than that and such shouldnt cause u to go into depression. As a matter of fact , in the health care profession, your cgpa doesn't really count after grad nevertheless, there are circumstances where a good cgpa could give u an edge; for instance if you intend going into academics as a career path or probably intend taking a post grad course abroad. Do not be too hard on yourself, Cheer up , put in more efforts or restrategize if need be but do not neglect developing other areas of your life while in school. Best wishes

just try massaging using warm compress and see if it would resolve over time. If not, u could go for the surgical option. At times injection with steroid at that site can be tried.

It's a pity lives of Nigerians doesn't matter. What happens to d millitary setting a manhunt for the killers? This is a show of weakness rather than strength; flexing muscles on the defenceless. What a shame

it's a minor procedure. it wouldn't cost much. I can't give a definite price but it should be cheaper in teaching hospitals

They were not even sure, they said after the conjunctivitis cleared that's when the scar appeared. Though I'm. booked for another appointment this week to see another specialist.

That no drugs is prescribed in such cases. Pls hope it's not harmful and can't cause blindness in the future and is there a possibility it could go on it's own

it would have to be removed surgically as leaving it would cause amblyopia leading to poor vision in the eye. Discuss with a pediatric ophthalmologist on how to go about the surgery

you can opt for a surgical removal if it's much of a concern.

hi dear such growth spreading fast calls for great concern. The nature of growth determines the management approach. A biopsy may be needed as well. Please let her go see her eye doc ASAP

how old are you? Is the halo's observed by one or both eyes? Well you should visit your eye doc so the y investigate the cause of your experiencing halos. Amongst which are insufficient tears, increased pressure in the eye (iop), astigmatism, lens opacity, or when your cornea retains much fluid . We cannot actually assess you for these online u know. My dear you should go see your eye doc

it's important your friend avoids the triggers to her migraine and if her uncorrected refractive error precipitates such, she should try wear her prescription always. Have u tried finding her reasons for not wanting to wear her glasses? That would be a good place to start .

optometry isn't a lesser discipline to med nd Surg . they are a separate profession. There's no ground for comparison as u cannot do what I do . get off ur high horse

thank u for sharing. I guess u re too dull to understand what it means to examine the eye for health problems. I m sure if you read down you ll understand optometrist also treat certain eye diseases as well. I should also enlighten you that optometrist are most times primary eye care givers. Though we have some that specialize to give secondary eye care services like low vision, orthoptics , contact lenses. Ophthalmologist provides specialized eye care services and are not primary eye care givers. No doubt ophthalmologist are at the apex in eye care but their existence doesn't make an optometrist any less important in eye care delivery. Ur problem is same as observed in many meds , thinking they re better than others. I bet u cannot hold an eye unit as a med not specialized in ophthalmology. If u cannot do what I do, why can't u respect that? Very well u have ur area of strength, systemic health but u re re no match for an optometrist in handling ocular health matters unless u re specialized in d field of ophthalmology . so respect urself and respect others . even u as a med, can u handle all cases ?

You have no business using a fundoscope to stage/grade hypertensive retinopathy...You are not an ophthalmologist neither will you proffer medication to said patient after eliciting signs of hypertension but refer. This is why I say you are a quack

Also hypertension is not a diagnosis neither is it a disease so better stick to your corrective refractive lenses and leave job for the ppl

so how do u make ur diagnosis of htn? If on funds exam there re signs of htn retinopathy and I had d pt check d bp, which was elevated. What other test would the gp carry out to establish a diagnosis of htn?

Your alleged profession is needless

how come the profession is needful in developed countries but needless in a country like Nigeria where a good number of persons are suffering from avoidable blindness? Aside ocular health , just today , I diagnosed 2pts coming to the eye clinic of htn and referred them to the GP. If these pt's were to fall in d hands of a quack like the one arrested, how would such be detected? My dear I forgive u as a lot of persons just like u re ignorant as to who an optometrist is or what they do.
