lolz u can't even do that cos you'll have severe headache/ discomfort upon using such prescription

I just came across this thread now

Back in 2009, SS1 days I noticed I could no longer view writings on the board clearly while sitting at the middle or back of the class. Before then I have always been a back bencher. It just started suddenly, no pains, no itching, just blurry visions. I didn't take it seriously.

It continued like that till my university days and I refused seeing an eye doc as I never wanted anything to do with lenses, just dark shades.

Fast forward to present day, it's all still the same. I have to sit a bit close to the TV screen to view clearly. I can't read sign boards from a distance unless it's writing boldly. The worst of it all now is that I can't see faces clearly from a distance, People come begin vex say I nor dey like Hala dem, not knowing that I don't see their faces clearly. Sometimes I have to recognize you from the way you move and your body structure.
NOTE: No pains, no itching, no nothing. Just blurry visions

hi there. it's very important you make an appointment with an eye doctor for an eye exam. delays like this could be dangerous .

They simply "treat "

how can he treat without knowing what d problem is? if that guy's condition isn't properly handled, d guy could loose vision in that eye. why should one gamble with something as sensitive as d eye?. no doubt some herbal drugs could be effective in treating certain ailments but most herbal practitioners would recommend same treatment for just any condition and that is very dangerous .

he said the right eye can be helped.... but the glasses he gave me its not making me see as clear as people with normal sight... do i need the left eye to function well before i can see clearly?... cant see the board unless i'm sitting at the front seat

oh now i understand you better. you may not be getting standard vision because of the state of your eyes. although the right eye was helped to see better with glasses, but yet couldn't get u optimum vision. Sorry dear just try adjust to living with what you are having and use your glasses regularly

i couldn't see clearly with my left eye all my life... and the doc said since i didnt start wearing glasses at a young age there is nothing ihe can do to correct the left eye(he is not the first to tell me that). i did some research and it seems like i have amblyopia

oh OK .so how about the right eye?

how do u mean, u can't see normally? did the doc diagnose any other condition that glasses couldn't help in?

glasses should make you see normally but at times pple find difficulty in adjusting to the concept of having to see through their glasses but this shouldn't take that long to get used to. are you having issues with your glasses?

I'm having a blurred vision! It all started last week thursday when i started having a feeling of a foreign object like sand on my eyes which i didn't took serious thinking it would get away after some time. On The next day which was friday, the feeling disappeared untill saturday morning when i woked up with the same uncomfortable feelings in my eyes but this time with nonstop tears rushing down from my eyes. I met a doctor the next day, sunday who gave me an eye drop and some drugs which i was taking but i started having blurred vision the next day.. So on Tuesday when I was looking at the eye on my mirror i noticed a grey or let me say a milky colored round dot covering some part of the the round black part of my eye(iris) .. I don't know what exactly is that gray thing on my eyes I'm bleeping afraid of completely losing my vision.. Any help on how to get rid of that?! exactly as of the image below

you are having a corneal ulcer. you need to attend quickly to it.

Hmmmm....you captured everything about the medical centres in Nigeria oh so succinctly.

From the government hospitals, to the average private hospitals to the very expensive ones, they are practically all the same: incompetence!

A very rich friend recently took his sister to all these expensive hospitals in Abuja. Money spent just on tests alone was clocking close to 500k.
The tests included bone marrow test. In between the tests, they were giving her pints and pints of blood cos she was losing blood a lot. Funny thing is, as at the last time I spoke to the guy like a month ago, there has been no specific diagnosis. It's still "come back for more tests" which definitely translates to " come back so we can take more money from you". So crazy!

What about me? The ear pain in one ear I went to treat few days ago now transferred to the other ear with excrutiating pains just two days after treatment on both ears.

docs re not all knowing . there are some situations we run out of ideas and comming up with a diagnosis may not be instant nd may require sending for further tests, sharing with colleagues and consulting other academic mediums. there are even cases one may not even b able to come up with a diagnosis even after al these. knowledge is continually acquired and experiences teaches us aswell.

You visited a doctor in a government hospital where there is crowd waiting in queue.
You met one and boom he ask you few technical questions and book you for a test/scan or prescribe a drug for you,
What's wrong there?
You want to spend 30minutes in his office discussing what?
While many are waiting outside,
They are busy people, get that into your head
If a doctor diagnose you, and very busy to tell you what caused your problem,
You can google it,
Many people got the knowledge of what causes for instance Typhoid through google, they didn't meet a doctor for that.
About your symptoms,
He is not interested in hearing all, because some are irrelevant,
He will ask you the relevant ones, he was trained for that.

What if it is that doctor that is covering many wards and while engaging in an "mbbs class session " with you, someone who needs his attention too dies, you will now be happy?

Technology has demystifyed medicine, you can get a sound knowledge of any ailment online without nagging about a doctor not telling it to you.

oh really? so illiterate patients would go online to understand their ailment abi? and if your treatment plan doesn't work out, u expect this patient u hardly had time for to return to you? this is also a major reason of patient's non compliance. when you meet a health professional with passion for the job, I'll know but in Nigeria, there re too many misfits. pple going into a profession for the wrong reasons .

You came for treatment to be well and not for an interview class with the doc, there are crowd waiting also to be attended to.
If he diagnose you, you have a phone, when you get home, you browse about the issue.
Simple.
You should not be in hospital to count which health professional laughed with you, you should be there to get help and go

this is very wrong. after consulting, you ought to inform your ur patients of your diagnosis and treatment plan (a five minute talk wouldn't take much). I notice most nigerian health workers re full of pride in carrying out their duty.

recommendation would be based of the cause of redness. I suggest u see an eye doc

Hello Doc,
I have been having severe pain in the eye, and headache after a long time use of gadgets with electronic light.
Whenever I start using a gadgets, with time my vision start getting blurr, and I thereby continue to strain my eye leading to pains and headache.

When I formally visited a hospital, they diagnosed me of short sightedness , but in the process of doing refraction, I couldn't focus and I started having headache. The nurse went to tell the doctor, so he asked Me to go for autoref.
After the autoref, and some refr test, they concluded I have astigmatism.

They said they can only give me glass no drugs

Me I don't want to use glass oo, my eyeball is big before, dont want it to become bigger
pls i want you to have a second look at the results maybe you can give another prognosis.

maybe eye drop and drug fit do the job.

hi timothy. the result from your refraction reveals you are astigmatic and you'll have to use glasses. sorry there are no eye drops that can be used . upon use, u ll fall in love with your glasses. lol

please house, how much does cataract surgery cost... I tried a private house around ikeja, the prices are 350, 500, 750 and 1m for intraocular lens apart from operation charges, lab test and biometry... Has Anyone done cataract surgery Lately and is cheaper than this?

Got glasses from my doc and I've been using it for about a week now and I still see things a bit blurry, the vision has improved tho'( I only take the glasses off when I want to bathe or sleep) the vision in my right eye has improved but the vision in my left has improved just a little... the lens power of the left eye is -3 and the right is -2.25... is the prescription wrong? and must the vision in the two eyes be the same before I can see normal?... I'm a student and its hard to see the things written on the board

hi there, I think you may need to go back to your doc for a possible review of your prescription. he may also have an explanation for your not being able to see clearly with your prescription.

left for the doc to ascertain if there's any pathology or just amblyopia in that eye. let him discuss his findings with you.

do not loose sleep over it. it's not as bad as the name appears. glasses would be helping you a great deal. discuss with you eye doctor and u'll be fine.
