PoliticsRe: APC Warns Against Last-minute Looting, THE PUNCH. by OreMI22: 9:29pm On Apr 26, 2015
falconey:
The All Progressives Congress has decried the
reported allegations of last-minute looting of the
nation’s resources, hurried recruitment into the
public service and rushed privatisation of key
financial institutions by the Goodluck Jonathan
administration.
It warned on Sunday that such “egregious actions”
would have serious repercussions.
In a statement in Lagos by its National Publicity
Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said apart
from the instances of such cases that had been
reported by the local media, it had been inundated
with calls and messages by concerned Nigerians,
alerting it to the unscrupulous actions of some
Jonathan’s administration officials.
APC said while the Jonathan administration remains
in office till midnight of May 28, and governance in
the country would not stop because a new President
had been elected, it was incumbent upon the
outgoing administration not to create more problems
for the incoming government, or to “tie the new
government’s hands” through suspicious actions.
The party explained that while it is true that the
incoming Muhammadu Buhari administration would
not get itself bogged down by an endless probe of the
activities of the Jonathan administration, all actions
taken since the result of the March 28 presidential
election was announced, might come under the
searchlight.
It added, ”For example, the National Council on
Privatisation, which is headed by the Vice President,
has just approved the financial bid opening for
transaction advisers for the privatisation of the three
Development Finance Institutions in the country – the
Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry and Nigeria
Commodity Exchange.
“The question is: What is the rationale for rushing
this exercise with just weeks left for this
administration?
”Also, there have been reports, yet to be refuted, of a
planned, hurried recruitment into the Nigeria
Immigration Service, after a previous attempt ended
in a national tragedy and the fleecing of innocent job
seekers by the mindless Federal Government
officials. Apart from the fact that this last-minute
recruitment is suspect, it is irregular.
”The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons
Services Board is only empowered to recruit,
promote and discipline only senior officers (Levels 8
and above). The power to recruit, promote and
discipline junior officers is vested in the different
services, in this case, the Nigeria Immigration
Service.
”Therefore, the recruitment exercise now being
conducted by the Federal Civil Service, under the
auspices of the Presidential Committee to Assist on
Immigration Recruitment, usurps the functions of the
Board as it relates to recruitment of Senior Officers
(Level 08) and that of the Immigration Service as it
relates to Junior Officers (levels 07 and below).”

Someone missed this by the whiskers..if not that call ....
Libya had no tribal issues as Nigeria before Ghadaffi.

There was a reason GEJ didn't arrest Buhari for calling for civil disobedience. The same reason why Buhari can never arrest nor molest GEJ. Nor northern army generals dared to overthrow GEJ. Nor Obasanjo didn't arrest Ojukwu when he refused to honor an SSS order to appear in Abuja.

You probably don't know nor even noticed because you are still a mere child. Nigerian leaders are keen on not repeating the mistakes of 1966.
I worry if APC can maintain the delicate balance of peace in Nigeria. Only time will tell.

PoliticsRe: 10 African Countries With The Highest Military Strength And Fire Power by OreMI22:
South Africa and Ethiopia don't have more fire power than Nigeria. I don't know when this ranking was done.

Besides, ONLY United States operates the B52 stratofortress strategic bomber.

Not even UK, France or Germany talkless of South Africa. So please remove that picture from south african profile.

The only problem with yoruba is their naturally lazy, back stabbing, betrayal attitude.
If yoruba were not part of Nigeria, this country would have sincerely reconciled and moved ahead as a truly prosperous part of Africa. But with yoruba in Nigeria?? cry cry cry cry cry
PoliticsRe: BREAKING NEWS: Fg Sends For Nigeria's High Commissione To South Africa by OreMI22: 2:13am On Apr 26, 2015
South Africa and their government only understand money.

We must tax their companies well and make sure we plug all avenues they use in exploiting Nigerians or hurting Nigerian companies that want to compete with them.

Our ambassador recall is just a show to south africans. In theit typical ignorance, they probably don't get its significance.

Igboson and a few others have always advocated the use of flowers in our medians like the first picture of Ebeano tunnel.

For me, that would be great. But, we know that is just too much to expect all over the city. So i would suggest that we always cover our road median with concrete to make it look great like the second picture when flowers are not feasible or refused to grow.

PoliticsRe: What Could Have Prevented The Nigerian Civil War. by OreMI22: 12:26am On Apr 25, 2015
AOjoeguari:
If, after the 1966 coup d'etat that led to the killing of Tafawa Balewa (Prime Minister), Ahmadu Bello (Saduana of Sokoto) and many other Northerners by the Igbo junior officers in the Army, Aguiyi Ironsi had brought those officers to book, as the North demanded, MAYBE, there might not have been a civil war in 1967.

Afterall, Nigeria survived the bloody 1953 Kano Riot.

What you should be asking is if the impending civil war can be prevented. Even USA had predicted Nigeria will disintegrate with the coming civil war

Nigerian law is a joke.
Meeting 25% of votes in 2/3 of the states is actually a core requirement before one is declared winner.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by OreMI22:
ROSSIKE:
Funnily enough the so called leaders have spent years abroad in many cases yet their thick skulls cannot copy or learn what a proper street should look like. They still return and build these nasty streets with no sidewalks and disgusting open drains. Their followers are even more ignorant. I read a post recently where one guy was praising his governor for building a road "with very deep drainages" ie big open gutters. I mean, where do you start?
My brother, the most important thing is to have the right institutions and not necessarily leaders.
Having a statewide building code and educating the town planning authority how to enforce them will transform Nigeria rather than individuals. Before i went to USA, my husband lived in Houston, Texas. When he moved to Atlanta Georgia and sent me pictures of the new city, i just secretly thought he was lying because the cities looked EXACTLY the same. How can cities apart as Lagos and Kaduna look exactly the same?, i asked myself. Eventually, he explained that all parts of USA enforce same building codes. So looking at a highway in Texas, it will resemble the one in Indiana or Arizona. It will be hard to enforce a national building code for Nigeria, but some progressive states such as Enugu should develop a building code for every infrastructure placed in the state. So if it is a state law for every house to have a covered gutter in front, the LGA will either tax the landlords so that they can provide it or ask the property owner to provide and meet the law.
