1stGenAmerican: China and Russia are too preoccupied with establishing bases in Africa and the ME to realize that the US, Canada, Britain, etc. pulling out of Afghanistan was a very strategic move. Anyone who knows the geographical location of Afghanistan and why the country was of significance already knows that the Taliban is now China and Russia’s problem. Too bad China and Russia don’t realize that yet. Brother, I appeal to you not to see things from the American perspective. They often to view international politics in black and white. But international diplomacy is never that stark.. there are shades. Eg. Russians don’t like the Turks sponsoring militant groups in Syrian Idlib but they(Russia) must work with Turkey to stabilize Syria rather than go to war with Turkey and bomb the hell out of these militants in Idlib. The Russians and Chinese don’t really like the Talibans in Afghanistan but they would prefer to have them as a bulwark to stop the American sponsored groups (Al Nusra, and co) from crossing over to the Russian caucus and Chinese Xinjiang region. US government would be very delighted to have these group of head choppers infest the mainly Muslim-dominated regions in these two countries just to undermine their national strength and destabilize these nations. America is sponsoring MEK (Militant-Islamic group) to destabilize Iran. America is sponsoring jihadists at Al-Tanz to destabilize Syria. American sponsored “maidan coup” in Ukraine to overthrow a government that was friendly to Russia -forgetting that this was Russia’s sphere of influence, so as to take over Sevastopol Base in the black sea. NATO missiles from this base would hit Russia within minutes. American prodded Poland to attempt regime change in Belarus. America and the UK sponsored the chaos that hit Hongkong with the umbrella revolution. China saw the writing on the wall and hit these kids hard enough that some fled to UK and others caught fleeing on a boat. America is egging on India to confront China. The US is the one meddling in this region (Asia). They are the trouble maker. |

JavaScript90: What sort of nonsense is this? There is an international law on international waters. A country cannot just wake up one day and claim a large area of international waters because she has weaker neighbours.
Why should China build military bases on international Waters? Why must commercial ships take permission from China before passing through international waters?
Do you even know this means that in the event of diplomatic crisis with Nigeria, China can ban Nigeria oil export to Japan,Taiwan and other Asian tiger nations which can only be accessed by the south China sea?
I hate when ignorant minds spew trash in public forum.
If USA was minding their business and refused to abolish slave trade since it stripped Africans of their dignity, I am sure you would have been a slave today working in one white man farm.
I have come to realize that most people love their oppressors and despise their saviours. How are nigerians even treated between an average American and Chinese company? Even the democracy you enjoy today and have the power to spew trash online without harassment was given to you by America.
It is obvious that something is inherently wrong with many black people
Let us try to be reasonable and avoid parochial sentiments Brother, The US under Obama “pivoted to Asia” because in their recent military doctrine, the United States see China as an imminent threat to her global hegemony. It use to be Russia that was on record as her number 1 enemy but now Russia is number 2. US has never let any peer power access her sphere of influence in the Americas. Remember how the US blockaded Cuba during the missile crises? US is the one meddling in Asia. They have now signed a deal with Australia to bring nuclear arms closer to region, despite the fact they have existing nuclear deterrence in South Korea and Japan. The ultimate plan is to surround China and Russia with enough nuclear warheads to achieve a successful first strike therefore making MAD irrelevant. That’s why these two nations are leaving their region to establish bases in Africa and Middle East to counter US |

So how do you spoof samples of sperm and other DNA that the FBI took off the victim? How do you spoof video of a person walking happily away from a crime scene? How do you spoof a person driving away in a car with a license plate associated with that person? Is it possible that this dude was dating the underage girl, and his DNA is on her, and he is not the actual person that raped her? This is another angle of thought. Underage Victim shy to confirm her relationship with the accused? Trying to look at this from other point of reason. Let me know what you think |

This is a bit weird, more especially his DNA found on the victim.
Was he dating this underage girl prior to this incident at the woods? Did some else rape her? In my mind, this is the only logical explanation for his DNA found on her. |

Guyman02: Western media with Russia and Putin obsession. America spent 4 years of Trump discussing Putin and Russian meddling in their elections while China was expanding its reach and Taliban were encircling Afghanistan which America's version of Buhari called Joe Biden left in disgrace with people falling from US military aircrafts.
France, Germany and EU are in panic mode in Mali because their Govt wants to invite Russia to help them deal with 'Islamic' extremists which France has been 'helping' Mali to fight in 20 years while stealing so much mineral resources.
France knows that Putin shows no mercy to western funded 'Islamic' terrorists as we see in Syria, that's why we are getting all these smear campaigns, Putin said it's the work of God to forgive terrorists while his own job is to send them to meet God.
General Ihejirika went to Russia to acquire weapons when Obama refused selling weapons to fight Boko Haram and brought mercenaries from South Africa called Dogs of War (this is why an Igbo man can't smell the position of Chief of Army Staff under Buhari because they will destroy the bandits ,) northern elders panicked and begged Obama to sabotage the effort which he did.
Every terrorist dreads Russia because they will chook bayonet into your nyash, CNN and BBC watchers will never understand what I am saying here Meanwhile America even does worse in Guantanamo bay but their media won't talk much about it Well, it’s called the information war. Remember “pivot to asia” It all got stratospheric when Trump worn the presidency in the US. The western world are determined to use their dominance in the information sphere to undermine Russia, China and Iran. After skimming through the pandora papers. No exposed Americans in the leak? All the media are keen to mention Putin, Czech prime minister and all the rest of the backwater countries; I knew this was another part of their information war. I always tell Nairalanders, never take any news aimed at Russia and China from the western media and their appendages as credible News. Read alternative media to get the real gist. |

I just turned 34 last month, still living with my uncle, but no pressure on his part is a big house. Currently, I teach in a school where my net salary and my home lesson inclusive are approx. N 100000 a month. I have a master's degree in engineering, so I haven't put that certificate to use. I have a saving of 900k, it will be higher by December. Although it would have been more than that, I lost 400,000 to the detriment of a bad investment. Last two years, I had an illness that struck (ENT related), which doesn't have a cure. One of the symptoms is vertigo (a sensation of feeling off-balance). This made me change my mind about travelling. For a few months now, I haven't had the experience.
I have three thoughts, but I can only do one at a time.
Firstly, leave my uncle's house, get an apartment. Use the rest of the money to start a business as a side hustle while working with the school.
Secondly, leave my uncle's house, get an apartment. Next, I invest my time in a tech skill (web dev, programming or data science).
Thirdly, travel to the US for my PhD program. I have already been preparing for my GRE before now.
Thank you. Bro, please go for PHD.... please do what you can to get admission and funding. Don’t relent. I repeat, Don’t relent! Nigeria is not an easy place for a startup company. Business environment is very unfriendly. With recent increase in Customs duty, Forex rate, Freight charges to Nigeria, High inflation looming. Go for PHD PS: Avoid marriage for now till you achieve the dream. |

Unless somebody tells me any civilised country that operate some account. When we stop this, it will motivate us to stop relying on anything foreign. It's a cankerworm FCY accounts are also used abroad too, not only in Nigeria. A separate account from the local currency to receive cash/SWIFT remittance. Without an FCY acct, then your bank receives your SWIFT remittance and converts to the local currency at official rate. If your brother in USA sends you money, it should go to your FCY (dormicilliary) account. Otherwise, your bank receives this money, converts to Naira at 411 and then credits your Naira account. This same bank will take the dollar your brother in USA sent to you and sell it to Aboki at 565. Who loose? |

ENGINEERG: This will be so GOOD. If that is done, anyone can pay money to Chinese firms using their ABC account. It will be good for business and it will reduce demand in dollar too cos anyone can go to the bank and pay yuan equivalent with naira equivalent. Thereby bypassing the dollar.
Nigeria banks have branches in several countries too, so I don't know the fear of some people that China want to buy Nigeria. Is Nigeria even worth buying again? CBN may not be quick to acknowledge this, informal Yuan-Naira direct conversion is already helping many importers at Trade fair and Alaba. I think it may be a good idea to have a local Chinese bank where Chinese companies can be paid in Yuan with naira equivalent; rather than routing USD payments through NewYork every time. |

China is directly or indirectly investing in Simandou in Guinea
Simandou is a 110-kilometre-long range of hills with huge iron ore deposit.
Now we have a coup!
Will the coup affect Chinese investment in Simandou?
Who is worried about China holding one of the largest iron ore deposits in the world?
The west?
The coup leader is a western-trained specialist. The western world have not really come out to denounce the coup. No sanctions! No threat! No freezing of accounts! No ban!

ENGINEERG: PROBLEMS OF THIS DOLLAR TO NAIRA are: -Incompetent politicians ruling Nigeria that destroy the economy.
-Bad leadership of CBN that are lost with ideas. They keep doing different policies and non is working. And I don't know why they can't sanction Banks too who are using parralelll rate to determine their bank rate, when official rate is constant.
-Greedy BDC/speculators/ Abokifx that are making millions of naira every day, just to get dollar at a good rate, hoard it, and create scarcity, then increase the value. And make aboki to publish it, then all Nigeria use it as new rate.
SOLUTION TO THIS DOLLAR TO NAIRA are: - Let any registered business owner be able to get Dollar from any Bank, so parallel market won't have much effect again. It can even be certain amount per month.
-Let China Yuan be in our foreign reserve, so Nigerians can send yuan to China, bypassing the dollar that is not useful for Nigeria and China. Since 70% of importation is from China.
-CBN should have a functional website that everyone can check, than relying on site like Aboki that can be compromised by speculators for their own gain. Direct conversion of Naira to Yuan is available at major markets in Lagos. You pay them Naira, they pay supplier China in Yuan. Their exchange rate is tired to the dollar. Currently 1yuan = 90 naira |

SeaTrade: Then this has just created the biggest possible round tripping cartel you say you wanna eliminate and this time it'll be worse because these are people with enough naira to buy a lot of dollars for arbitrage purposes. No one passes over a chance to make a quick huge buck ,multinational or not. What they will do is to sell to aboki slightly lower than what your "CBN aboki segment" will sell, hence bringing aboki back full time into the streets and back in business Because the gaps will be too wide, hence a lot of rooms for them to discount to aboki and still have their arbitrage profitable. That’s true... I never thought these big wigs like Dangote and oil majors may do a round trip on fx bought at I&E window. Won’t it be easier for CBN to checkmate these big wigs by making it a requirement they provide exchange control documents for fx bought at I&E rate before they can access new fx funds at I&E window. Just the way they are currently doing under the Form Q scheme. Again, do you think the likes of Dangote and oil majors may sell to Aboki for profit? I think these companies are already made, no need for filthy lucre. |

SeaTrade: I understand your point, you wanna make aboki obsolete.Very superior argument and I endorse this. But then again, pushing the rates up to the aboki figure is called devaluation. Foreign investors both in Nigerian stocks and some real sectors will lose confidence in Nigeria and want to cut their losses and pull out their cash at once! How do you think the CBN can manage that? So why lose all that just because you are chasing away some group of abokis? The big players like the foreign investors, Dangote, oil majors will still have access to dollar via the I&E window at CBN. |
