Emekus92:To me i see this as a "Pity award". With the incredibly good performance he has been pushing out over the years, i mean people of a certain race have gotten an oscar for less. This "Life time achievement" award is nothing to me. |
I couldn't meet all my targets but my "march dump" was fairly ok.
|
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto actually made a clean sweep that year. Absolute monster of a performance.
|
potland:In another year, she couldn't have gotten it, but that year wasn't a particularly good year for movies, i think the only actress in a supporting role that really tried that year was Jennifer Lawrence in "American Hustle". I think it's the same year that Cate Blanchett got best actress for "Blue Jasmine" and i am still baffled till this day how she won, so the year 2013 wasn't all that great for movies. The movie i enjoyed the most from that year was "Dallas Buyers Club", an absolute masterpiece, i saw Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto's performance and i immediately knew they were gonna get Best actor and Best supporting actor. |
IngeniousLeez:Mans even agreed to an "open marriage" just to be with Jada... I'm thinking Jada's "game" and "energy" is totally fire cuz I don't understand anymore..How can you find something funny and unfunny inside 2 seconds ffs
|
My man Hans is eating good. He totally went nuts on that Dune Score ![]()
|
IngeniousLeez:Chris Rock has always had this cool comic demanor, trust me if it was Dave Chappelle, he would punched Will back and enter into a 30 minutes stand up with Jokes all about Jada if security doesn't step in by then. |
AnfieldFan:Not negating Will's win but imo Andrew Garfield or Denzel Washington. |
bisqit:That's why i said "little chance", it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Denzel Washington got the for an absolute beast of a performance for "Training Day" over him in 2002. And Forest Whittaker got over him in 2007 for playing a flawless portrayal of "Idi Amin" in the "The Last King of Scotland" (A Biopic btw). |
AnfieldFan:While his performance was okay, but the theory is that you stand little chance for best actor or actress in a year when another actor or actress plays a "celebrated Biopic" most especially a story as big as the "William Sisters".... Check Daniel Day Lewis in "Lincoln" (2013) and Gary Oldman in "Darkest Hour" (2017) for E.g |
AnfieldFan:I be think say na plan work, till "ABC" censor am, so i still get lowkey feeling say na planwork, even Will dey laff b4 he just get up go wooze Chris. Anyways, Kanye West dey pull this kind stunt before and dem dey ban am, Man get 22 grammy and dem don ban am from this year own because e dey move mad for the last 2 months...so anybody is "bannable" and to add fuel to the fire, "we dey woke regime"..Kevin Hart supposed host Oscar one year, dem go dig one of he anti LGBT tweet from years back, na so dem step epa down. |
IngeniousLeez:Na that one pain me pass...e dey form macho for woman wey no rate am. |
oyaskii:Called this rightly it would seem... Beautiful movie ![]()
|
IngeniousLeez:lol i understand his reaction but it's a tad over the top, considering the stage and event, and comedians tells this sorta jokes often and that's the business besides with all that has been going on with him and his wife, is now he reacts?? Come on. He still won the best actor tho, but i wouldn't be surprised if he's blacklisted from futher Oscar ceremony or any other award show for that matter. ..very embarrassing moment to say the least. |

abduleez1:This ones still dey my freezer o ...i go see them soon. |
abduleez1:TITANE was good and it had mad reviews. I think it was France's nomination for "Oscar's Best international feature film" but didn't make the final cut beacause that category is actually so tough to get into beacause it's literally opened to all movies from any part of the world, and there were good foreign language films this past year so this category is between "The worst person in the world" (Norway), "Drive my Car" (Japan, this even got a Best Picture nod, to tell you how heavyweight it was) and "The Hand of God" (Italy). |

abduleez1:You should see "Tick..Tick..Boom", Andrew Garfield's performance was so good, but it's a musical tho, I don't know if you enjoy such lol. Jered Leto performance wasn't that bad but it wasn't that good either, it was more "cringeworthy" , he was trying too hard. Man, i still can't figured out how "Licorice Pizza" got a best picture nod? The movie was mid to say the least. A 15 year old guy falling in love with a 25 year girl was basically the entire movie like....they had Bradley Cooper's face on the poster, and this man was basically in one scene . By the 1st act i could predict the entire movie and it didn't disappoint, so by the third act, i wasn't even paying attention, i just wanted it to end let me sleep lol. |
abduleez1:"Tick..Tick..Boom" for me but i am glad "Andrew Garfield" got a norm at least. "The Last Duel" should have probably replaced "Don't Look Up", apart from that, the list looks fine to me. House of Gucci had too many mixed reviews to be considered for best picture abi isn't it the same movie that Jered Leto just won a Razzie award for? Anyway, i think the Best picture nod is between "CODA, Dune, and The Power of the Dog" Personally rooting for "CODA". |
abduleez1:You sef na OG chief ...I be proper Cinephile before oo... but this adulting life dey nack me gidigbo...I dey on like 1 show per month since January like this so |
Juzec:I dey concerned about the totality of the series or movie I dey see so I dey research the actors, director, cinematographer, the soundtrack, the score etc |
abduleez1:lol no o. I no even know say e trend but I dey fit tell them apart. I know Emma Mackey from SE, then Margot Robbie from "The Wolf of Wall street", then Jamie Pressly from "Mom" and Samara Weaving be dey one indie series I dey follow that year wey dem dey call "S.M.I.L.F". |
Achilles100:All 4 I think 1) Margot Robbie 2) Emma Mackey 3) Jaime Pressly 4) Samara Weaving |
CAPdan21:The cinematography alone is 10/10....so top tier
|
Nilon:In a one on one combat, I think Superman edges the mad titan, based on sheer strength I mean there was one time , Superman actually went into the sun itself to absorb solar energy, and when he came out, he was able to lift upwards of 200 quintillion tons (just imagine) , But then again, Superman has some exploitable weakness like, Kryptonite, red sun and magic, and Thanos is vast in mystic art and magic. Thanos is also very intelligent and possess superhuman strength. So the fight will boil down to various factors, like if Thanos has time to plan, if Superman is allowed to use all of his power ( man is most time fighting on a moral code, and declines to use all of his power most of the time) etc. |
abduleez1:Mannn....long runtime scares me these days, I simply don't have the patient anymore. I saw "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Runtime 5hrs 12 mins, and "The Irishman", Runtime 3hrs 29mins, inside one week last year and it felt like i won the Champions League ffs ![]() |
OhBritannia:We clearly saw a different Acrimony and the one I saw, is the one with the gutter ratings on RT and IMDB and rightly deserved the poor ratings, and I repeat for emphasis the one i saw is the one that "looked like a 5 year old wrote it" It's not like Ronaldo and Messi, cuz in actual fact i like both players, and if you have been on this thread or the movie thread long enough, you would know my taste is diverse so i have seen countless British shows and movies as well as from other places so I am not been biased. But for you, you are weird kind, I randomly see your post each time on this thread with long sermons fixating on a particular show or movie, and in a split second you are on to the next one. This week is the "British Stan", last week or so, it was the "Dark desire Stan", and sometime ago, it was "WOT"... wouldn't be surprise, if next week, you are stanning "American actors and actresses" cuz your way is that warped.
|
abduleez1:I hate when person they spread fallacy with long sermon, so I need to clear am this night before innocent people for this thread go take e sermon as the gospel truth. ![]() |
OhBritannia:That screenshot could easily have still read "Americans sweeps Emmy", cuz it's the same Emmy year that Julianne Nicholson, Scott Frank,Jean Smart and Jason Sudeikis won...all Americans. Your screenshot is only news because the British aren't used to this much win at the Emmys. The Taraji/Scarlett argument is pure fallacy and there's no point towing that line with you. "Acrimony" that looked like it was written by a 5 year old? I can understand why it was "heaven" for you, considering the kind of series you push around here as the "best thing since sliced bread" Not negating what the British have done in very recent years but it's a case of "been there, done that and still doing it" for the Americans, The British are doing okay but are still not on par or above. |
OhBritannia:Bro...you are all over the place with your argument so i trying my possible best to take you as coherently as possible, That being said. You argue like you just started seeing movies or series recently and you just recently discovered "Google" Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence are not overrated as they are actually talented and is a tad demeaning mentioning Taraji P Henson as better who's best work hinged on Tyler Perry's sappy writing, Scarlett Johansson in "Marriage Story" and "MCU" and Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger games" and "X-men", and Taraji P Henson is never coming close to that range or performance and it's not even about Race cuz Voila Davis has a far better craft than Taraji...so don't let "Acrimony" deceive you. Bolded the second paragraph because i don't even know what to make of it, so in your book, the British aren't "White"? ![]() So how many successful series has Emma Watson ( this is even laughable cuz outside of the Harry Potter franchise she's close to nothing) headlined?,or Rosamund Pike or Emily Blunt? Thier best work are still when they are in an American Production. All these assumptions you are making will get you nowhere?l. Mention these American series and name these young vibrant talented British actresses headlining them. ![]() |
