GloriousGbola:That's why said imo and only one out of the three has An Oscar, an Emmy and even a Grammy. Kate Winslet is a tad above these two you mentioned, in acting prowess. I might agree that Helena Bonham Carter probably has more range than Kate Winslet but Kate is clear in every other department...Emily Blunt is nowhere close. |
OhBritannia:Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence.. mention 7 British actress that are better than these lots...The only British actress imo that has really carved a niche and has gone proper mainstream is probably Kate Winslet. Early child acting is not exclusive to the British, Theatre and Stage Acting is a part of most countries active in the entertainment scene. It's "Broadway" a joke to you? I don't even know how vast you are in the Nigerian entertainment scene, but stage acting and theatre was a big thing in the 70's and 80's, Playwright were raking in money through weekly back then, so theatre and stage acting goes round. Reddit is a faceless forum, and people trash talk anything on there good or bad, so saying American actresses aren't really talented is a big lie and you probably saw it in one fallacious subred. So am I chilling and waiting for you to mention these epic American series that British actresses were lead. |
OhBritannia:This argument is neither here nor there, show me a very good British actress and I will raise you 10 American actresses who are better. Not negating British series or British actresses but America was, is, and will continue to be the main hub of entertainment worldwide, and that's while American award shows for entertainment (Oscars, Emmy, Grammy) have a worldwide traction, even them British actress and actors want an American movie or series in their CV than anything else. Angles and Saxons which form the British in the 5th century are the literally the founders of the "English" language and taught every other person the language including America, so of course they will have a good command of it. |
DieRich5:normal stuff even during my Bsc days, we dey normally host anime meets between hostels. That time sef, some people GPA dey life support but them be walking encyclopedia of Anime and Manga ![]() |
DieRich5:Typical misuse of Google...you went to dig up the fact that suits your narrative...she's bi and pan and swings anywhere.
|
Baddestguyp:Maybe where you are, Anime has had a huge following over the years here. I use to be in a anime/game WhatsApp group, where there's a met twice a month, and people bring external harddrive filled to the brim with thousands of episodes of anime and exchange. |
DieRich5:she's not. |
armadeo:Adult swim had sanctioned 70 new episodes before the season 5 premiere, so it is most likely getting 7 more seasons at least. |
MJBOLT:So dem never milk this franchise reach? ![]() |
Gmajor:fences? Training Day??, The great debaters?? Inside man? Flight?, The tragedy of Macbeth??, Glory? Devil in a blue dress? American gangster?? Man has an array of iconic performances. |
Baddestguyp:Art is key in judging animation. I don't think it is wise to compare animes with traditional animations as it wouldn't be fair. Btw...Demon Slayer is never touching AOT greatness in a million years. |
Baddestguyp:For something to be the "best", it has to be the "best" in all ramifications, like saying the best picture at the Oscars would mean the absolute best when all things are considered. "Animes" are rich in story and one can follow them for years without getting tired, but they pay little attention to the animation style because it isn't thier forte and they have simply don't have the budget for it. So all these points put together, in the real sense, which should be the best? My money will be on the one with the "better graphics* (according to you), good story, good world building, good plot, good fighting sequence. And "anime" are a cute little genre of sought i like, I don't like comparing them with animations from big studios that have money to play with. |
Kaycee7:Abi o Chief . |
IngeniousLeez:mods ban your moniker? Wentin you do? ![]() |
Baddestguyp:It's the major selling point that edges it slightly past "invincible" but "invincible" was top notch, the title card getting bloodier with each episode is the best use of title card i have seen in a while..top tier idea. But I'm curious to know at bolded, why that is your perspective? Where there other animation outside of America better than it? |
Kaycee7:I meannn....it was arguably the best animation last year in the general sense (plot, animation style, music, direction, character building). I think it was only "Invincible" that came close to it last year imo. |
gargoyle:Shifting goal post because you have no counter point. I don't care if a feminist is fighting in Ukraine or not, I was simply correcting the mis information you were trying to push about Chimamanda Adichie... And The fight in Ukraine is about gender wars abi? So the only way you will be happy, is if all "feminist" are on the war front? Man, brush your knowledge on feminism because any female, or in fact any anybody can call them self a "feminist", it is the knowledge (which you don't have now) acquired from actually looking up "feminism" that will help you discern which is the right or wrong kind of feminism. |
gargoyle:Chimamanda Adichie is actually against what you term as "Karen Feminists", her own feminism is not born out of hatred for men, same as J.K Rowling, and that's why they are both everyday target for them "Karen Feminists" The sanctions that has crippled the entire Russian economy hasn't deterred Putin a bit, but if Chimamanda Adichie says something today, the invasion will surely end abi? come on. |
Kehinde2017:Plot and writing nose dived after S6, but S1 to S6 were one of the best TV serials ever made, everything was top notch from directing, dailogues, writing, props, casting etc I mean just peep the ratings for the best episodes below, I still randomly play "Rains of Castamere and "Hardhome" from time to time . GOT is probably in the class of BB, The Wire and The Sopranos.
|
abduleez1:I want more GOT project too but that finale left so much a bitter taste in my mouth so I'm a bit skeptical about any future projects so my point being they should see how "House of Dragons" go first before green Liting other projects off the GOT world, moreover Corlys Velaryon arc is not that much important to require a full series, heck this guy was mentioned sparingly in the " A Song of fire and Ice arc" and was never again mentioned in the "Game of Thrones arc". |
abduleez1:This is going the way Disney is treating the "Star Wars" franchise... milking it with every spin off possible. They should actually give it a rest and see how "House of Dragons" performs first. |
MJBOLT:loool ...Thanks my man, note to self: never type as you are walking smh... Edited now ![]() |
Kehinde2017:If you think the ending was befitting, you probably skimmed through the entire series cuz ain't no way you deligently saw all the season and say it had a befitting ending. There was a barrage of things wrong with S8 and Ultimately the ending. 1) The finale was rushed and they had two years to make it. Things were happening so fast, like they had another season to go. 2) Character development...For a fantasy show, character development is key, and GOT had built such a fantastic world and character building since S1 only to shatter it all in S8. For example, What was the point of the character of Jon Snow, if only to have him have that piss poor ending, what was the point of him even coming back from the dead? And Denearys arc , the mother of dragons, "Mhysa", Stormborn, all these only for her to end as the ultimate villain? Come on man. 3) Anti Climatic sequence: I think the only villain to have had the kind of character building that the Night king had in recent pop culture history was Thanos, That's how big his character was, mere mention of its name sent shivers round westeros. The battle against him was supposed to be the mother of all battles and probably should have been the end to S8 and the finale, only for it to be rushed in Ep 3 with a piss poor battle that was dark through out with it barely visible to the viewers and worse off, him dying a miserable death not befitting his fame. 4) S8 was full of plot holes. My Man, you can hold a contrary opinion and that's fine, but that will be like "1 against 99" but 99 can't all be wrong. |
VerifiedStalin:A legit reason if true, but i wonder how much these C rated movies are going to pay him probably that's why he stats pad them to make something meaningful. |
Mann..They need to restrain Bruce Willis at this point ..This man is involved in a new movie every 7 business days atm ffs..Just look at his filmography from 2021 till now, and he still has like 6 more movies to drop this year
|
45 days isn't that far with the prices these cinemas are charging ![]()
|
VerifiedStalin:100% they are using this franchise to launder money chief because i don't understand anymore ![]() |
DieRich5:Exactly...I didn't understand the overt obsession Cassie had for Nate, it was unnecessary and it dragged on for two long, all she did was cry and nag all season, it became tiring. Episode 5 was the best because it focused on Rue's recovery and the dialogues were gems, no surprise it is the highest rated episode of the season on IMDB. It has already been renewed for S3 but i can't be bothered with it anymore. To imagine this abysmal S2 is the most watched show since BB and GOT smh. |
DieRich5:Season 2 Cinematography ✔️ Costume ✔️ Direction ✔️ Music ✔️ But you see the writing... terrible and gutter quality. The episodes were haphazard and I think they got carried away with the success of S1 which wasn't all that great tbh. Sam Levinson should actually allow some other people write episodes for S3 cuz none of the main stories were followed through in this season and they dwelt on irrelevant plot lines for too long. The last two episodes were actually the worst i have seen in a long while... basically nothing happened... terrible terrible season plot wise. |
abduleez1:it's PG-13 in the US. Haven't seen anything in the trailer and premise that gives the vibe that Kids would understand or enjoy this, I seriously don't know what MPA is smoking. |
Are these lots actually serious right now or they are just taking the piss? I don't think there have been any "Batman movie" in recent memory that has been "kid friendly", I blame the MPA for tagging this as "PG-13". I remember critics where on about "unnecessary violence has increased because of this movie", when the Joker came out in 2019. Man..I am seriously hoping "The Batman" is dark, gritty, and violent to the max. If a kid at 13 can't handle this by now, leave them at home ![]()
