The problem with campaigning for Naija politicians is that once they win the election they totally abandon and forget you...

Why not run for election and campaign for your self sir?

I Want them to recycle a patriotic, honest and intelligent Nigerian but then I realise that Nigeria politics is about "people who are stealing vs people waiting to steal "....

It is good that you want this sir.

However, how will you ensure this happen when you don't participate in the political processess that turn up those who will become aspirants-candidates? We need millions of well educated and exposed Nigerian youths to the political parties to change the tide.

Presently about 80% of the members of PDP, APC, SDP and other parties are unemployed semi-literate youths, okada riders, market women, artisans, motor-park touts, area boys and so many people who don't read Newspapers or listen to News on BBC, Al-jazeera, Channels TV, AIT or Arise TV.

A Nigerian Politician must emerge as the president or do you think a Ghanian, American or Japanese politician will be elected?

Most people who criticize our politicians don't really understand that the development of Nigeria is a summation of the actions and in-actions of ALL Nigerians.

Most of the people who are in Government today were ordinary citizens like us in 1995.

To be frank, the issues of referendum for the purpose of creating a new country out of Nigeria is not as straight forward as you guys assume.

1) Which territories will form Biafra?
a) The former Eastern Region which include SE and four States in the SS minus Delta and Edo States which were parts of Western Region and later Mid-western Region.
b) The present 5 States in the S/East
c) Anywhere Igbos are found.

2) Then, who determines who is Igbo and who is not? What are the universally acceptable criteria to determine who is igbo?

3) Who is eligible to vote? Is it those who are already in INEC register or a new registration will be conducted?

Will anyone living in these regardless of their ethnic backgrounds be allowed to vote? Will the referendum be conducted for Igbos living in Lagos, Kano and other States?

4) Interpretations of the results; what happens if 3 wards out of the 11 wards in Okwumene LGA vote to
to join Biafra. Will these 3 wards be excised out of the LGA to join Biafra?

Igbo Republic desire to have Opobo and Bonny as their territories.

However,there are already Ijaw people exercising POLITICAL AUTHORITY over these towns who prefer to have a separate Republic.

Now, how does Igbo Republic take POLITICAL AUTHORITY over these towns? These can only be done in two ways;

1) Military invasion of the Ijaw Republic and annexation of their lands.

This option is no longer acceptable.

2) Non-violent/political process- this will require Opobo and Bonny to secceed from Ijaw Republic and merge with Igbo Republic.

Alaska, in a referendum joined the USA in 1959. Before then ,it was a political possession of the USA, which bought the territory from the former colonial Masters, Russia at a cost of $20 Million.

The case is totally different from the issues of Opobo/Bonny.

where another Republic PRESENTLY exercise sovereignty over.

Even if it is UNN, she will soon understand the school that she is in after this their ongoing first semester exams.

She isn't studying Medicine & Surgery but Medical Laboratory Science (MLS).

Your analogy is faulty for these reasons;

1) Both China and Taiwan were one country with only one Government before 1949 and are still one country but with two different Governments since 1949.

2) The Communists rebels waged war against the Gov't of China (just as Taliban did in Afghanistan and Boko Haram is doing in Nigeria) in the 1940s.

3) By 1949, the Communists succeeded in controlling about 90% of the country while the original Government shifted to and only able to control the province of Taiwan.

Up til today, both parties are still claiming to be the legitimate Government of China.

4) The Official name of Taiwan is REPUBLIC OF CHINA.

5) There was never a case of military invasion by a FOREIGN country.

Elections aren't won or lost by arguing on social media.

You need to join a political party now! Start mobilizing for a candidate that can help you achieve what you want. Canvass as many people as possible to go and get there PVCs and come out to vote on the election date for your preferred candidate.

It's futile trying to stop a (formidable) candidate on Nairaland.

Had it been that this was done before 1923, it may succeed but nowadays, it's no longer acceptable in International laws to expand territories and/or exercise political authority over a territory through military invasions, disregarding the current boundaries.

The closest you can do to get those territories is to push for a POLITICAL solution (provided there is a problem of boundary disputes between the two new Republics) in which the two islands will vote in a referendum whether they want to join Igbo Republic or remain as parts of Ijaw Republic. A major drawback to this approach is 'do you share boundaries with these Islands'?

It's very difficult for one country to be laying claims to parts of another country that doesn't share boundaries with it.

For instance, if Nigeria is laying claims to Accra, because the early settlers of Accra, the Ga-Adangba people said they migrated from Ile-Ife, the world court will ask which part of Nigeria borders Accra?

World court don't adjudicate on petty topics like ethnic Identities. However , they rule on LAND matters.
In this case, the deciding factor is 'who is exercising or had exercised political power over the land in question' languages spoken don't hold water.
