Sane people are speaking up, while the urchins are cheering him up. Unfortunately, many of this online nuiscance who are shouting Tinubu 2023 were little children back in 1999 when he reigned as governor of Lagos yet they shout Tinubu blindly simply because he is a Yoruba man not because he is capable. Forget all the manipulative and deceptive tendencies of Tinubu that he is a technocrat and can harvest young minds to do great job how many have done anything great?

Same Tinubu that vowed Fashola will not do 8 years because he felt the man wasn't towing his path of corruption. He abruptly ended the tenure of Ambode for same reason only God knows the fate of this one there now. Las las we are here to see how it will play out come 2023.
By now, you people demonizing Tinubu ought to have come up with your candidate whose morality is at par with that of Angel Gabriel and has the magic wand to solve all the problems in this country.

It beats my imagination how a reasonable person will even think of voting Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria after all that has happened.

Tinubu is not fit to be the next leader of Nigeria undecided
Most people that hold this kinds of opinions apparently have good ideas of how Nigeria should be. However wishful thinking are different from realities.

Tinubu, like all other citizens have the right to aspire to be president and they are actively exercising this right BECAUSE THEY ARE ACTIVE IN THE POLITICS OF THEIR COUNTRIES.

Idealists and arm-chairs critics are often not members of any political parties, they don't attend meetings and/or rallies of these parties let alone Congress or primaries of any political parties but somehow still believe that they can dictate for those actively participate in party politics on who they should chose as their parties' flag bearers.

It's very difficult to effect changes from outside the corridors of powers by writing against a particular aspirant.

Guy, u are much informed that those who just prefer criticism and insult .. they no next to nothing on these matter.. just action with emotions...

Now u pointed out some good fact..

1. U made them know Lagos State revenue allocation was not seized. It's rather Lagos State local government revenue that was seized..

2. U made them understand that Tinubu didn't initially create the LCDA instead it was LGA..

3. But u still disagree on whom the money was disburse to
Obasanjo (he and Murtalar organized the 1976 Local Gov'ts Reform which recommended a single type of Local Gov'ts for the whole country and that this should be put into the constition) pointed out that if States are allowed to create LGAs, each State will want to create as many as they can because Local Gov'ts are now used to distribute revenues and sharing of the national cake.

In true Federalism, Local Gov'ts are agents of the State Gov't to bring development close to their people.

Kano and Jigawa States were one State in 1979-1983 and Lagos State was also one State.

Today, Lagos still remain one State with 20 LGAs while Kano (after Jigawa was carved out of it in 1991) now have 44 LGAs.

Each State shout create as many LGAs as they want but should be responsible for funding them. LGAs should be removed from the constition and not be used as basis for sharing revenues.

Bros.. use ur laptop is not for film alone... There is a big difference between a state government which tinubu heads and a local government which someone else heads during tinubu time in office...

Tinubu is not meant to use the local government allocation, it's not his. He is sent his own separate state allocation.. which was never seized... But he swop on gullible people like u who are fanatics to cry foul that he didn't do any infrastructure because FG seized his allocation.

By the way.. do u know tinubu Fought the FG bribing judges that sat in Lagos courts and made them rule that local government election must be conducted by state government electoral body which he also fight to get...

20year down the lane..has it improved anything politically aside allowing governor bully local government chiarman and stealing all their money...

Tinubu is an orchestrator of corrupt practices... He is so good at it that you guyz mistake it for heroim...
Your third shows that you have a superficial understanding of the subject matter.

The courts, up to the Supreme Court simply validated the stand of Lagos State that the CONSTITUTION vest the creation and control of Local Gov'ts, including the conduct of elections into the Local Gov'ts in the States.

It's a constitutional matter and not just the schemes of Tinubu.

In the Independence constitution and through out the First Republic , Local Gov'ts were never written in the constition and were not basis for sharing centrally collected revenues. Back then, each Region created the numbers of Local Gov'ts they deemed fit , conducted elections into them and funded them. In some Local Gov'ts, certain Traditional Rulers were made the Chairman of the councils were some had elected chairmen e.g Agege Local Council, Lagos Town Council

In 1976, the Murtalar Muhammed /Obasanjo Military Regime centralized local Gov'ts in Nigeria and incorporated them into the constition and also make them the third tier of Governments to be used as basis for sharing revenues, awarding constituencies etc.

What defines a progressive? You guys don't know what progressive means in the true sense of the word. Lagos should have been competing with the likes of Johannesburg, Casablanca and Caira but alas and sadly it cannot even compete with Monrovia that just came out from War or even Accra or Lome in terms of Infrastructure and liveable city indices. All because of one man's stranglehold on the state's treasury. And here you are echoing progressive............... SMH that is why we will forever remain under the bondage of these leaders, see how you are openly marketing a thief.
You may not like Tinubu but the assumption that he is the reason why Lagos is not able to compete with all the cities you mentioned are nothing but a fallacy.

Anyone who understands the structural and economic architecture of Lagos in particular and Nigeria in general will know that Lagos can't develop more than certain levels if the rest of Nigeria aren't also developing.

If 50% of the people in Lagos leave to other States, Lagos will amazingly look far better than what it is.

Most of the greatest opponents of Tinubu are only active online and they like to approach political matters from emotional points of views.

To defeat Tinubu and other people like him, more educated and enlightened youths need to join political parties (I am not talking of forming a youth party that is only active on social media).

Recently I tried to join politics but I was surprised by my findings...over 80% of the members of the APC, PDP and other parties are made up of employed and barely educated youths, market women, artisans, thugs, Okada riders and people who don't buy or read newspapers or listen to News on Channels, AIT, Arise or TVCs.

If most of you guys can register with and regularly attend meetings of a political party, then come together as a mass movement , you can effect the desired changes you want by supporting a vibrant youth for the presidency.

Most of the well educated and enlightened youths of this country don't participate in the political processess of recruiting leaders for their communities, States and country at large.

While Tinubu was on a self imposed exile there were group 34 eminent politicians who did not brun away but stoood their ground to request Abacha to hand over to a democratic government. Non of them got rewarded with even a governorship position.

Tinubu has already been rewarded with Lagos state governorship post for 8 years and Lagos state treasury for his life time, is this not enough reward already

The election will be keenly contested.

I will also like to contest for the same election, if I have enough money and the youth of this country can support me.

Why did tinubu rescind on his affirmative stands of creating more local government in Lagos just four months to exit office..

He was there after paid more than 160billion naira meant for local government and he concerned it all...

He also still sued the FG to force FG to release the may allocation of his last month in office to him instead of fashola...

See, it's not about politics, it's about the man himself.. he is too corrupt and dubious
This wasn't what happened.

1) Around 2002, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Yobe and some other States created Local Gov'ts as specified in constitution.

2) The last part of the constitutional lay down process require the State to forward the newly created LGAs to the National Assembly so that the NA can add them to the list of the LGAs in the fifth schedule of the Constitution.
Lagos State compiled by submitting the names for listening to the N.A but the N.A refused to act on it.

3) Meanwhile, Obasanjo and the PDP were strongly opposed to the creation of more LGAs. Obasanjo ,who regarded himself far superior to other political actors at the time (and truly he was) didn't like to be questioned on matters of Gov't policies, so he mounted pressure on the States to scrapped their newly created LGAs stating that the matter can causes unnecessary rivalries among States and will heat up the polity. Other States succumbed to Obasanjo's pressure except Lagos.

4) Then Obasanjo directed that the Local Gov't Fund for Lagos be stopped. The LASG under Tinubu took the matter to court which dragged on for years.
5) Around early 2007, the Supreme Court ruled that

a) the LGAs created by Lagos weren't actually illegal but the process of creating them were in complete ,so they can exist while awaiting their listing by the N.A
b) that Obasanjo had no power to seize council funds meant for Lagos and the accumulated fund should be released to the State.

6) Obasanjo said he accepted the court ruling but he still refused to release the fund, giving the excuse that the original councils have been dissolved and he didn't know who to release the fund to.

7) Eminent Legal scholars led by Prince Bola Ajibola intervened by proposing a compromise in which the newly created councils will become Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under the old councils which should revert back to their Identities.

cool President Yar'Adua came to power on May, 29, 2007 and promised to accept and implement the court ruling, so he directed that the money be released (in tranches) to Lagos and this was done between July,2007-2008 long after Tinubu has left office.

Its not news that the FG brought an ammended seven count charge against IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. However, it turns out that one of the charges is not even a crime. The charge reads:

That you Nnamdi Kanu, male, adult, of Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia Stale on the 16th of May, 2021, in London, United Kingdom within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did commit an act in furtherance of an act of terrorism by making a broadcast that “In 2 weeks’ time, what will happen will shake the world, people will die, the whole world will stand still, mark my word” and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 1 (2) (b) of the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act, 2013.

That Nnamdi Kanu said that in two weeks time, people will die? People die every day. How can it be a crime to say that people will die in the future? It is a statement of fact.

How is this charge a crime?
The court will have to decide if it's a crime or not.

No worries....There would be no need for Igbo to do that so that the Yoruba start singing Yoruba Ronu, Igbo is destroying Lagos. This time, the Yoruba would do it by crippling SW economy through a sit-at-home. After all Wakillyu Isikillyou, the Fulani warlord and one-man army that torments Yorubaland has been freed from prison. Naturally, when the new wave of exodus to Republique La Benin commences, there would be no need for Yoruba to start chanting Southern Unity again. Since IPOB has taught you people what sit-at-home is and is capable of doing - tormenting enemies of Biafra like you, you lot would just copy it and ground Lagos and Yorubaland before the IDPS become too much in Republique La Benin. That is more action than begging for southern unity again.

onumadu:
Well, like I said, the idea of conquering people and making them pay tax to Islamic caliphate would have failed flat in Igboland (and even their neighbors like Ibibio, Efik, etc,) because those people had already been in contact with the Europeans for hundreds of years along the coasts. They had GUNS and other tools of war. People like Jaja of Opobo for example even had emissaries to Europe.
The Aro were a well organized confederacy controlling slave trade. The Aro for example had a war with the British (The Anglo-Aro war) in 1901-1902.
Like I said, there is a reason the British couldn't exert direct rule over Igboland. They had to institute indirect rule.
The point is that the idea of slave raids into Igboland would not have succeeded without local support (like the Aro cooperation for example). Secondly the idea of forcing Igbo to pay tax was dead on arrival unless you wanted war because paying of tax was traditionally totally alien to Igbo. And of course the idea of being "second class citizen" can only happen within Igbo traditional institutions. Igbo believed that each man was equal to the other. That was what gave rise to the notion that Igbo had no kings.
Read to understand and not from a preformed fixed mind.

1) The Communities that were within the vicinity of Sokoto like Zuru were the ones conquered because they were in the same 'country'. Nothing concern Igboland in the story because by 1804, the Jihardists didn't know that there were any groups called igbos.

2) Outside the Sokoto Caliphate, the Islamic Armies never bordered to convert the pagan communities to Islam. They however raised them for slaves.

3) Real wars were however waged against powerful non-muslim countries that threatened the corporate existence of the Caliphate. These were kingdoms/Empire that share borders with the Caliphate.

Igbo,Ijaw, Efik were very distant tribes and had no contact with the Caliphate because there were hundreds of other tribes intervening between them and the Sokoto Caliphate
