So how is it that a Yoruba man like Ajayi-Crowther, could write an Igbo book? Something is not right somewhere The early Missionaries made conscious and delibrate efforts to learn the language of the areas they wanted to evangelize. Some even go to sit at the market from morning till night listening attentively to how traders speak and negotiate their trade bargains. |

You are not well learned. 1) 1957 wasn't early 20th century. 2) Hausa have migrated to Ghana centuries before both Nigeria and Ghana were created by the British such that today, Hausa is now one of the indigenous peoples of Ghana. 3) Due to large scale migration of the Hausa people, Hausa language is spoken virtually in all countries in West Africa. |

Validated: You may have a point there, however put it correctly. In that Buhari was watching when Tinubu used Oshomole to plank Amosun. You know why, Buhari had all to lose in 2019, so was willing to allow anything. That said, 2023 belongs to the Igbos. Others are just mere noise makers. By the way, where is Oshomole after planking Amosun? Actually, it wasn't about planking Amosun but about keeping with the unwritten rule of power sharing in Ogun State in order to help the APC to win again. |

I get your point. My main issue is that Yoruba shouldn't be thinking of presidency at all. Since they got it in 1999. Let others taste the seat of President? Then after Igbos, then can then leave it open for all. But my fears is that Nigeria as a whole is not yet matured for all inclusive kind of governance. It's really a pity. By the way, suppose no Yoruba politician is contesting, do you honestly think that this will automatically place an igbo man in Aso-Rock? If anything, it will just give Atiku or Tambuwal unchallenged access to power |

The most appropriate body to enforce zoning is the political parties. Even at this, the power is more of persuasion and concesus rather than legalistic because some aggrieved party members will still disregard the zoning decision claiminig that it infringe on their democractic rights e.g Abubakar Rimi (2003 PDP primaries) and Goodluck Jonathan (2015 PDP sole candidacy). The PDP which morally ought to support the quest of the Igbos for the presidency is maintenaining a deafening silence on the matter. |

If I got your point you mean the west played politics of interest. Why can't other tribes in the south not play politics of interest in the next coming elections? A Yoruba man was the president in 1999, a Yoruba man was the VP in 2015 and a Yoruba man is still seeking for president in 2023. Guy check am nah? If the west really care for others, especially the Igbos they should support the Igbos in getting the presidency. Let me illustrate it to you in simple ways; The interest of the igbos was to support Atiku to be president (if Atiku had won in 2019, they won't be talking of Igbo president by now) so that after he serves his terms, Peter Obi will become president. This is a legitimate interest. However the plan didn't work out as expected. The interest of the Yorubas was to support Buhari to finish his term so that a S/west candidate can support him. The plan worked, Buhari was re-elected but somehow, the other group whose plan failed are saying that the Yorubas should not reap the fruits of their labour. Be sincere for once, if you are in their shoes, how will you feel sir? |

It also includes making sure his party wins because this will boost his chances of becoming a senator (self interest). |

I grew-up on Lagos Mainland and even as at the 1990s, it was difficult not to see people on a street around 9:30pm. Dsalvo: @OP.
Your question has a very easy answer.
Yorubas can be trusted with power. Igbos cannot be trusted with power.
It is as simple as that at the most rudimentary level of power sharing devoid of politically correct talk and diplomatic back and forth.
We can write politically correct garbage for 20 pages but the answer above is the bottom line. Watch the behavior of Igbo leaders and you will know they too appreciate this Nigerian reality. Nooo, it's not about Igbo or Yoruba being trusted or not but about the change or advancement of democracy in Nigeria. Certain things will be very difficult to repeat because; 1) The emergence of the APC: Before 2015, any political arrangements done by the PDP was as good as done and only needed to be validated by an election or resemblance of such. There was no real Challenger and Nigeria was more or less a one-party State. 2) Zoning comes with it's price. The prices include dissatisfied members decamping to a VIABLE alternative party. This was a minimal issue before 2015 because there were many but weak opposition parties. Things aren't exactly the same now. Even the APC can be defeated. Any political party that publicly announce in 2021 that it has zoned it's ticket to the S/East is telling other political bigwigs from other parts of Nigeria to stay away from the party and it's most likely to witness a gale of defections. By saying 'south' at least half of the country will assume that they still have chance with the party until when the primaries is conducted. Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal and others that are spending money, time and energy to keep the PDP exciting aren't foolish. If the PDP say they have zoned their ticket to the S/East, do you think these people will still be in PDP or if still they are, they won't be this committed. |
Politics › Re: Obasanjo Was Handed Power On A Platter. Why Can’t Same Be Done For Igbos? by oyatz(m): 4:01pm On Nov 01, 2021 |
Penguin2: I should ask you if you have cognitive abilities at all...
It was first G-18 and later on G-35. This group was to metamorphose and register as a political party (PDP) and Alex Ekwueme became its first ever chairman just as he was the chairman of the G-35 and Jerry Gana was secretary.
However, when positions were zoned and it was agreed that presidency should come south, Alex Ekwueme resigned his position and Solomon Lar became chairman.
In all these meetings, Obasanjo was nowhere as he was still in prison.
So how can you justify that he came from prison to become more popular than the founding chairman of PDP if he wasn’t powerfully backed? Obasanjo was released in July,1998 before the formation of the PDP. Obasanjo and several other aspirants contested for the primaries. In all elections, money and lobby are used by power brokers to swing the pendulum of victory to their side. Even in your home State, the principle is applied in chosing the flag bearers. |

Niger delta rejected the first Biafra
Niger delta has rejected the renewed call for Biafra
This means that “Biafra” would be a landlocked country.
This means that no matter what you guys would be dependent on “Nigeria”
Igbos do not want Biafra or nothing , they want Biafra and Nigeria lol (y’all want 2 countries) -like the Irish
Good luck We can actually reach a compromise by having both Biafra and Nigeria existing side by side within the same country. E.g give Biafra rights to run their own elections, rule themselves, generate their own revenues. However they can depend on Nigeria for international and diplomatic relations, International Defence and International border control. |
