You see how smart you think you are? Immediately after the war, immediately after confiscating almost all igbo property all over the country and bombing every inch of igboland with the help of your masters from Britain, Egypt, Sudan and the Soviet Union, immediately after killing close to 5 million igbos Inna genocidal quest to loot eastern oil, immediately after eliminating almost all igbos through targeted progroms and massacres, immediately after your 20 pounds for any amount left in the banks by igbos and ofcourse, immediately after saddling the whole officialdom with highly unqualified so-called Yoruba administrators post war, you THEN started an indigenization/privatization process and expected the igbos to participate!? You see why the rest of the country see you lot as a very treacherous bunch? This is the only reason why you are the only group begging and crying for nigerias unity today.. Even the fulanis are not so desperately pro unified Nigeria like you guys...
You are just lamenting and projecting your frustrations which unfortunately is not related to the topic under discussion.

1) Awolowo had left the Gowon Regime before the Indigenization decree.

2) The policy did NOT take place in one day or one month as been falsely propagated but over many years.

3) The policy was about the NOT sales of any company but opening up the ownership structures of the companies for NIGIERIANS (not just the Yorubas as been spuriously portrayed by silly tribal bigots).

4) Trading in the shares of these companies which were compelled to list their shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange is a continous process such that those who didn't buy Firstbank or West African Larfarge Shares in 1975 were able to buy them in 1983 or 2002 etc.

5) Igbos, Ijaw, Efik,Fulanis, Berom, Yorubas and indeed ANY Nigerian who wants to buy shares in these companies can do so.

The basis of accusing the Yorubas in this matter is borne out of ignorance.

But both sides cannot be right at the same time. Trust me I enjoy decorum too but one side is trying to maintain lies while the other side is trying to expose it.

I have said similar things in the past about Nigerian economy when the yorubas completely took over. They destroyed the economy with their Hausa Fulani masters.

It’s was finally during OBJ administration that he smartly put few igbos in key positions. That’s when some progress started being made.

Majority of the companies that they stole during indiginization policy are bankrupt and looted.
But Igbo owned and managed companies like The West African Pilot (Azikiwe's Newspapers Empire), African Continental Bank (ACB), Ojukwu Transport, Champion Newspapers ,Iwanyanwu Nationale, and Savannah Bank collapsed without involvement of the Yorubas.

Moral of the story:
1) Companies rise and fall ,even in the US, the home of capitalism.

2) Successful management of companies have nothing to do with Tribes.

As at the 90s, managers of such sate corporations as NITEL, NEPA and all the banks in the east and most floor workers were all Yorubas.. The northerners were lacking behind in terms of producing graduates while the east were effectively blokced from participating in running the economy of their Land. Things only changed when babangida moved the capital to Abuja after orkars coup. Most Yoruba workers preferred to stay back in Lagos providing the northerners an enviable opportunity to flood officialdom with their kind. Their war with Abacha helped to accelerate this process. Obasanjo came in and tried to reverse that with spurious privitasation and consolidation policies that favoured them again. Thats how African petroleum, NICON insurance and co transmuted into Yoruba companies.... Inshort both the Yorubas and fulanis are not in anyway interested in biulding any country.. They are simply in a rush to loot as much as possible before their iniqiuteous activities break up Nigeria..
Dangerous Tribalists like you like to give the impression that all the problems of this country are caused by people from outside your tribe.

Curiously you don't provide any proof to justify such assumptions but want every Nigerian to believe your biased opinion hook, line &sinker.

The funny thing is that most of those companies they cunningly took over are now either rundown or now has a good percentage of Igbos in its board.
You are weaned on falsehoods and propanganda with deep seated delusion of persecution.

No company was taken over by any tribe.
The decree mandated Foreign Companies to allow Nigerians to buy into the ownership structures of these companies.

The indigenization policy actually started with small scale enterprises (similar to what Ghana is doing to Foreign Traders now in 2020) which stopped Lebanese, Europeans &Indians from operating retail shops in Nigeria.

It only reached the stage of Multinational companies around 1975-79.

Quit this your silly propanganda.

1) Awolowo had resigned from the Gowon Regime shortly after the civil war in 1971.

The indigenization of these qouted companies took place around 1975-1978.

2) The clamour for indegenization policy (now called local content development) started in the 1950s to ensure that political Independence also guarantee economic Independence for Nigerians.

Even though their concerns are genuine, it is practically impossible to cede them to the south west based on geographical segregation because they represent just a chunk of Kogi's landmass that shares land border with Edo, Enugu and Benue. Their goal can only be achieved with equal cooperation from Kwara state and Kogi as a whole. They all must speak in unison else, nothing worthwhile will be done.
It is possible sir.

They are NOT asking for the whole of Kogi State but OkunLand (roughly equal to Kogi West)

This is quite different.

The Igbos lost the Biafran war, which explains why the Igbo-speaking people in Rivers and Delta have refused to align with their brothers in the South East.

If the reverse had been the case, they would have been begging to join the country because Biafra would have gone far.

Besides, Nigeria would be treating them as slaves just as they do now (explore and tap your oils and pay you peanuts in compensation).

Victory has many friends. On the other hand, defeat has numerous enemies.
Delta State was NEVER part of the defunct Republic of Biafra.

Faithful007:
Nigeria's power issue is multi faceted. Actually we should be generating more than we do now, like about 15000mw from available capacity. But there are three problems. Firstly there are gas shortages due to poor gas network. Then the hydro plants experience low head or something like that. Thirdly, our transmission network needs overhaul. Also gas is still expensive due to high production cost rising from insecurity and lack of indigenous companies, from there consumers don't pay back (owing arrears) so the discos owe the gencos, about 500 billion ngn currently. So the gencos find it more difficult to purchase gas. The first step to sufficient power is to rebuild the the entire gas network, from there we can now have modular plants that will not need a centralized transmission system. But before that, gas production costs in Nigeria need to come down so that investors can be attracted to rebuild our gas network. These are the major issues.
How is CanaanLand getting gas to power their power plant that generate 24/7 electricity?

You guys keep saying this over and over but this rubbish doesn't help the guy. You are all just showing irrational emotions instead of facing the reality. Reality is, you need to ask yourself question. Do you think Kano enacted this penal code without federal govt consent?. I dont dispute the fact that president is supreme authority which is federal law. But did you ask yourself why Obasanjo regime approved blasphemy law adopted by at least 12 Northern states??.. You think Kano operates on its own?. There was a reason the law was passed. Let me tell you guy just one of the very reasons that I know to show you that your so called constitution doesn't recognize religion is a lie from pit of hell.

Northern Sharia law was adopted to impede influence of christianity up north during 4th republic. In the Southwest, Christianity was funded by foreign govts from 1989 to year 2000 to end islam in nigeria. If you were old enough in the 90s to recognize series of events back then you should seen so many christian activities all over nigeria mainly SW, SE, SS. This agenda was supported by clergymen and political leadership (christians). They "captured" or "dominated" southwest with their propaganda at height of new democratic govt. In their manifesto (published by Christian Association Of Nigeria) they called for death of muslim leaders in Nigeria and around the world. So Northern state quickly adopted Sharia Law started by the then governor of Zamfara state Ahmed Sani Yerima. Despite having many muslims leaders in govt in the 90s like IBB, Abacha, Abubakr etc, none of them had any agenda against christianity. Why would christians publish a book filled with so much hate speeches?. By year 2000 they quickly removed the book from the public knowing that it could have legal consequences but it was too late. So it was around 1999, 2000 that Nigeria had a new democratic elected president Obasanjo that Abuja central church was built by state money. Obasanjo tasked all Nigeria states 100 million naira to build central church you see in Abuja today. Only two state refused. Lagos (Tinubu) and Abia (Orji Uzor Kalu). They claimed they were not christians. But all Northern sharia states contributed money towards church fundings. If constitution does not recognize religion how dare Obasanjo built or completed Church at the expense of Nigerian treasury?. But Abuja national mosque was built by donations.

I repeat, Nigeria is not a secular country. It is secular country only on paper not practical. So stop saying Sharia law contradicts federal law. Sharia Law serves as customary law parallel to common law. State of Florida passed "Stand Your Ground Law" which is euphemism of jungle justice. But it is also in conflict with federal law. Isnt?. Go and beg Kano court, lawyers and governor and stop constituting nuisance online.
You keep displaying gross ignorance about the subject matter.

1) Kano State Government does NOT approval of the federal government to enact laws within their State.

The Shari'ah laws were enacted by 12 Norther States during Obasanjo's first tenure.

2) These laws are inconsistent with the Constitution which forbid States from adopting any religion as an official religion.

In reality, the enactment and adoption of Shari'ah laws by the 12 States mean these States have secceeded from Nigeria.

3) The constitutionality of these religious Laws have not been challeged in the court because of sentimental reasons.

4) The Constitution does NOT forbid individual citizens, including political Office holders from practicinging religions, so I don't know where you get your ideas that the constituency does not recognize religions.

5) The Musician should appeal the evil death sentence upto the supreme court.
The Shari'ah is only for the poor and the Constitution is the supreme rule in Nigeria.

Stop deceiving yourself man. Don't teach me your hypocritical definition of "secularism". Nigeria is not a secular state. Keep deceiving yourself. It is far from secularism. Didnt Wike declared his state a christian state and no one said anything about it?. Instead, Adeboye and co threw their support behind him. Keep deceiving yourself. And you guys really need to stop your foolishness for saying I am supporting killing Black man. Stop this nonsense right now. I have not argued from religious perspective. My position has always been about State Law. State passed blashphemy law recognized by federal govt. Law is law. Why are you guys have difficulty understanding very simple analysis?. The only way you could have had better argument was to protest the law before the Bill was passed decades ago. Many of you guys were babies when the law was passed. You have no idea reason behind it. The law is here to stay until govt decides to repeal it. Everything you guys are doing on the internet about this case is not helping the guy. It is like you are contending the law which is very wrong move. So please stop talking about the country doesn't recognize religion. Nigeria is a religious country. If it is not, why so much damn churches?. Do you have idea how these churches came about especially in Lagos?. All those churches you see in Lagos were once investment companies. Christians bought them and converted them to churches.

Also if Nigeria is truly a secular state, how dare Obasanjo tasked all states in nigeria millions of naira to build Abuja national church?. America is secular state but did you hear their president task governors to contribute towards building churches?. Nigeria is a joke. It is country that says one thing but does another. If you are talking about secularism, it is Abuja central mosque which was built by donations from individuals. So in the case of Kano, it is state law. If law states 'this is a no go area' then why do you do there?. Secularism in itself is hypocritical. In Norway recently, their PM recognized the right too desecrate Quran. It says it is freedom of speech to desecrate Quran. Yet in Germany the same 'secular' country has a law that makes it a crime to deny holocaust. You people need to stop deceiving yourselves. Obey the law. That's my point.

Even US that champions secularism is not 100%. They have grant (funds) meant for christians only. They don't tell you this on national TV. Apart from this, there are non profit charity orgs directly and indirectly funded by federal, state and local govt. These charity places are catholic churches to fund less privilege like housing, food etc. So obey the law regardless of what your opinion is. You guys are not helping the guy. Your argument against the law is not helping the guy at all. Your argument is that you don't recognize the law while in fact, lawyers, judges, jury, and governor already recognized the law and are ready, willing and able to carry our death penalty while you're on the internet yelling. Is this how to help the guy?. If you truly want to help the guy, reach out to lawyers, court and governor and plead to them instead arguing blinding on the internet. It is too late for that. What am I going to do with his death?. . What you should be doing is to help him appeal his case. Thats how legal process works.

And tell Wike to establish Biblical laws too since it is a christian state. Bunch of hypocrites.
You are just playing to the gallery.
The CONSTITUTION of Nigeria (and NOT the actions of the president for a Governor )is the supreme law of the country and this Constitution expressly state that Nigeria shall be a secular country and that Government of any part of Nigeria shall NOT adopt any religion.

The law of Kano State is inferior to the constituency and that law needs to be challenged upto the supreme Court.

The yoruba's are like wolfs very intelligent and very hard working, but the dog part of a wolf has made him loyal to the bird just because it has wings... The bird eats up everything the wolf helps catch and remains just enough to keep the wolf loyal... But imagine a pack of wolfs ruled by wolfs .

The ibgos..are elephants very powerful and majestic and can make it we're everyone else can't.., but when it comes to putting forces together everyone starts remembering which elephant lives in the jungle, or which lives in the plains or which lives in the Savannah.. they too have become loyal to the bird not because it has wings but because each group of elephants have sent envoys without the knowledge of each other to the bird who tells each of them the same thing and that is "you are greater than your brother" a lie they believe.

The Niger deltans.. are a group of bees living together in a colony providing honey to the bird who promises not to eat them provided they shut up and keep producing honey.. even when the the bird is also spoiling their comb by taking more than honey.. they don't complain because when they do the bird eats few of them and no other bee wants to be eaten so a swarm of bees who are a million more plentier and stronger shuts up...the queen bees prefer to be submissive even when they are a greater foe.....

This doesn't mean residents of the State or even the Governor of the State can't practice any religion.

I am sure you know this well but you just want to prove you don't understand because of your bias for your religion.

It's even worse that the religion is an imported religion while leaving the religion of your fore fathers.

But Nigeria is religious country whether you like it or not. All your govt offices are filled with religious bullshit but you hypocritically applied secular laws while engaged in serious religious shenanigans even in govt offices and during official duties. Ogun state present governor's office is one example. His office is filled with pictures of Jesus, crosses and White pastor during official duties. Was it not years ago your former president knelt down before religious leader to pray for him?. Where do you see that in Germany?. Nigeria is hypocrite. You need to apply biblical and Islamic law if truly you are sincere with yourselves.. Your secular law isn't helping the country one bit.

I repeat, Nigeria is not a secular country. Prove me wrong.
You exude too much ignorance on the meaning of a secular country.

Nigeria being a secular country does NOT individual Nigerians (including Government officials) can't practice religion. It only means the STATE/COUNTRY shall not adopt any religion.

The Governor of a State receiving white religious leaders or having a cross on his desk doesn't mean his State has adopted any religion.

The religion being practiced by a President doesn't mean the official religion of the country which every president must observe.
