I am surprised that people from a southern zone who know little or nothing about the Kano Emirate have suddenly become experts on Kano culture and traditional rulership. Check this thread, you will hardly find Northerners commenting but many Southerners giving information about what transpired in the selection of the Emir to Kano. Xisnin: Stop lying to gain attention. I have challenged all your fellow travelers to provide evidence that Ado Bayero is the "rightful" heir but they became confused.
There is no rightful heir to the Kano emirate. Though it is restricted to certain families, the rules are very lax. |

There are certain factors that mitigate against the economic development of Nigeria but these are actually more of failures of Leadership at ALL levels rather than deliberate conspiracy against a particular Geopolitical zone. 1) The Federal Military Government of the past years slower the progress of Nigeria down by getting involved in business enterprises and limiting the participations of Nigerians in such enterprises. 2) However, the FG can't dictate for market forces for long. The FG can't improve the economy of a State for long.Only the market forces can do that. For instance, for almost 30 years that the Federal Capital has been moved to Abuja, the city is still not a commercial city despite that ALL the Federal Ministries, Embassies, International Airport, Universities and the Head-quaters of many companies (including banks) are located in Abuja. 3) There were several attempts by the FG in the past to force maritime traffic to Onne, Calabar and Sapele ports but it backfired (similar to the attempts by the Federal Military Government (FMG) to fix prices of certain commodities) In 1978, my father's container was forcely diverted from Apapa port to Sapele Port. He went by road to Sapele, booked and slept in a Hotel there for days, cleared his goods and headed to Lagos to sell his goods at increased prices. Cherez: 1. My guy Oyatz, Enugu airport was just touched by GEJ & PMB is on the verge of sth. Ethiopian airline flew to Enugu and Emirate was about to follow suit but the FG needs to setup some instruments and run some standardization before it can accept international flights. Saudi Arabia is just one country; what about the hundreds of countries all over the world? Depending on traffic, flight companies can direct their flights to Enugu and sure the SE has lots of travellers too especially to Asia (China) Port-Harcourt was just rebuilt by the FG also. See these infrastructures are bad and only if the FG does right on them will international flights use them.
2. Now exactly same thing is happening with the seaports. Bro, see Lagos would have been much better than what it is if the FG had moved some concessions to Onne porta and co. Today, the Yorubas who own Lagos I tell you are groaning cos of the population in the place which is making it hard to control in terms of neatness, crime, etc. I am one of the proponents that Lagos should be depopulated esp non-indigenes should move back to their states; those who have nothing doing there. Reason why I supported Fashola then.
3. The importance of the FCT in Lagos was in structures; all embassies, international organizations, companies, etc which prefers the capital especially for security and diplomatic reasons. And these and their employees all pay taxes to Lagos state See, Ibadan is an example of my point. Ibadan didn't have the advantage like Lagos but grew out of pure independent hardwork. Kudos to Baba Awo. You get?
Honestly, I hate to discuss this cos this shouldn't even be a topic if not for the situation we have found ourselves |

The names ,qualifations, area of expertise and experience of the commentators are often added when they comment on any topic. #The Buhari administration is hopelessly nepotic but the good news is that it has three years left. We will all overcome it. I Cherez: My question wasn't an absolute one but related to the guy I quoted who says the SE contributes nothing. So, I asked him, if the SE contributes nothing, what do other regions contribute to get all those stuffs?
The SE also contribute in agriculture Viz; yam, rice, livestock, etc too.
They also said the SE deserves what it gets cos it took up arms against the state. I agree but then why spend millions and even rehabilitate people whom have no reason taking up arms when a huge chunk of NE took up arms against the state too? Oyatz my guy, I'm one of those Igbos who have accepted our fate in Nigeria; even though being oppressed, I'll never go violent or hate on anyone but remain diligent knowing that GOD got HIS people.
But, I'd like to ask you in all sincerity considering events from the current loans so far in the past 7yrs or so don't you think that an agitation from these people is rightful? This is why most Igbos keep quiet when NK talks even though most don't support him but the hostility of Nigeria itself supports his attacks.
Personally, I have given up on Nigeria a long time ago but I'll never hate on anyone cos of anything for I'm sure the Igbos will survive this and this has actually made them better at somethings. |

Some of your points are very misleading. You 1) Are there International Airports in other parts of Nigeria? And= Yes. For instance, the Mallam Aminu International Airport,Kano is the busiest airport on the Nigeria to Saudi Arabia route. There are International Airports in Port-Harcourt,Enugu and Calabar. 2) Can the FG compel Airlines and Air passengers to land in any Airport? Ans= No 3) The old Federal Capital and Lagos State are NOT exactly the same thing just as Enugu, the capital of the Old Eastern Region is not exactly the same thing as Enugu State. The old Federal Capital was limited to Lagos Island, Apapa, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mailand and parts of Surulere LGAs. Anywhere after the railway crossing at Yaba was never part of the old Federal Capital. Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe and Badagary Divisions of the State were never parts of the old Federal Capital but were parts of the old Western Region and many parts of these places were rural areas as at 1991 when the Federal Capital was moved to Abuja. Cherez: Lowest revenue for the FG, very correct. Let's analyse. Currently, Ogun state generates heavily only cos of proximity to Lagos. Now Lagos generates revenue cos of the concentration of FG's facilities there in the instance of airports, seaports, movement of the capital from Calabar to Lagos. Now, imagine seaports are built in all viable seafront across Nigeria but no you hear of dry ports elsewhere. (Before you claim I'm jealous of Lagos, Bros Lagos is trying and I want my state to emulate it in certain areas and may GOD BLESS Lagos state and the Yoruba nation who owns it) but the truth is that Lagos was made this rich by FG's nepotism. Imagine that MM1 is about the only viable & most preferred airport in Nigeria cos of FG's acts. So, no matter where you're from the South you must board a flight from Lagos, arrive and lodge in a hotel, book taxi, and even a foreign person will most likely spend time there(revenue in tax). There are other seaports but govt will prefer that Apapa & Tincan is flooded making citizens pay demurrage on goods. Does it make sense to you? Same thing applies to Abuja. The FG strategically drives revenue generation too. Imagine the current loan request and there's no single project for the SE & tomorrow you'll rush to ask what? Infrastructure drives development and industrialisation. |

The topic is what has NIGIERIA done for the igbos? bigpicture001: Ur no.1 is baseless...the people found routes to market the traded with..govt is not involved....if for example govt created good railway system on the route already discovered by the traders, then you will say govt. Did something.
2. By virtue of being on a land nd all ur money exchanged for 20pounce, u turn next to agro...thats ur decision not the govt. DT u bought it from the north I'd exchanged for ur hard earned money....govt didnt intervene by subsidizing it cuz ur from war torn region or provide u cheaper means if t- fare...meaning,they did nothing
3. U HV not com to the east, hence u write as dou there are roads, rail, hospitals or housing.....
The ppl built half their inner town roads, the govt roads(F.G) are mostly dilapidated...but one can't deny the fact,it has once been done by d FG....but infrastructure in d southeast is the least in the federation
4. Did I hear u hv a say,wen everyone treats u like second class citizen..
Only major ethnic group not to lead the nation, FG keep mum, when Igbo's businesses are attacked all over the country.especially Lagos. Kemi adeosun was heard in a leaked tape degrading an entire already marginalized ethnic group, nd FG did nothing...which say do they HV when recently leaked project plans for next 30 years were released nd no south east zone....
Ur 5 nd 6 are baselesd, cuz the firms are not of FG nd no special intervention to Mk the Igbo's get jobs specially was made. The job relationship was mutual.....
So think well nd answer again. The OP meant what specifically has the FG done for them...
Like building almajiri skls specifically for the northern youths nd no where else, creating a 13% derivation fund for Niger delta nd no where else...
Nd delebrate infrastructure upliftment of the south west |

Every Region contribute to the economy of Nigeria. I am ashamed to see supposedly educated Nigerians that don't understand this fact. 1) If all other regions stop working and Nigeria rely only on the sale of crude oil, will the money be enough for the country to import; All meat we need? All Leathers we need? All the yams (including Pando yams) we need? All the vegetable oil, palm oil, animal feeds? All the maize? In fact ,the money won't be enough to import food and clothes for the country 2) For instance, in the S/West ,the production of Agricultural produce, poultry products, Fishes Timber and wood products , livestocks etc meet certain needs of Nigerians. If these aren't produced, then Nigerians will be forced to take her hard earned money to go and buy these products in the international market at exhorbitant prices. 3) If the Northerners don't produce beans, onions, beef, leather, milk, rice etc, we will have to be importing all these at exhorbitant International prices. The currency of Nigeria would have become worse than that of Zimbabwe. Cherez: So what has other parts done to deserve all they are getting? There was a war in Nigeria which was obviously from a good reason (progrom) and no rehabilitation after, now the NE brought BH on themselves and since 2011 there has been rehabilitation programs running into billions of dollars yearly. Now to what the Igbos have done; the major revenue source for Nigeria is oil and Abia and Imo state contribute to this. Aside the SS, can you explain what other regions contribute to Nigeria? |

Stop posting your propaganda as the Gospel truths on this Forum. 75% of the oil in Nigeria are NOT on any land let alone Igboland. Most of the crued oil Nigeria has are actually offshore (Sometimes upto over 70 nautical miles away from the shores, deep into the Ocean). Are you saying the Atlantic ocean is part of Igboland? ChimaAdeoye: Igbos fought for Nigeria's independence and won it Igbos ceded power for a northern Prime Minister to keep the young nation united Igbos developed Nigeria's educational curriculum as well as human capital development Igbos helped Nigeria create a huge entrepreneurial base that is still cornerstone of the economy Igboland is base to 75% of the country's main resource - OIL
.... I can give you more examples to your moronic question abokii! In the end, Nigeria will collapse under the weight of its own injustice and unnecessary war against the Igbos. |
