proeast: I expect Yorubas to be in support of this so that Igbos can free Lagos for them. But I'm surprised that some of them are hating again.
As long as Igbos are forced to gather in Lagos because of the ports, the city will remain choked up.
You know Igbos are aggressive capitalists, so you will always struggle against them and when you're outsmarted, it breeds envy and hate. Nothing concern Yorubas in the matters. Take the suggestions to your State Governments, they can do it if they so desire. Ondo State have just started the process of building their own Seaport. Lagos State via PPP built the Lekki Deep-sea Port and about to start the Badagry Deep Seaport. Akwa-Ibom State have started building Ibaka Deepsea Port for over 10 years now (it seems to have turned to a White Elephant project). |
Politics › Re: Why SE Must Build A Seaport Now by oyatz(m): 2:48pm On Jul 01, 2023 |
proeast: All the ports that were built in Nigeria were dredged. But some of those in the SE, particularly Oseakwa and Oguta in Anambra and Imo states respectively requires very minimal dredging because they're naturally deep. Even if they're to be dredged like others in Nigeria, they will cost less since it's only a mere 18 nautical miles to the Atlantic ocean which is far shorter than Lagos at 50 nautical miles, Onne 60 nautical miles and Ibaka 30 nautical miles.
I hope you get the point now? So you sincerely believe that a Port in Lagos which borders the Atlantic Ocean can be 60 nautical miles from the Ocean and a Port in hinterland Imo State can be 25 miles from the same Atlantic Ocean? |

Baseless accusations! That was NOT Tinubu's certificate. The State is already blessed to be poor. From Gbongan to Yakooyo to Ilesha, Erinmo,Iperando, Ipetu to ERIN-IJESHA used to be rice Belt in the 1970s.
These Glory can be brought back if we have committed and visionary leadership.
The development of Osun State should NOT be tied to the meagre resources provided from Federal Allocation. |

nadisms: Probably you dont understand the impact of this relocation.
That church attracts thousands of people daily, which also affects lagos state revenues, because those people will sleep in hotels and patronise some businesses in lagos. At the end, these businesses will have enough money to pay tax to the government. A lot of his followers from different part of the world always throng his ministry on a daily basis.
Anywhere that Ebuka obi relocates to , would result in increase and massive development in that area..the reason why he doesnt want to mention the place because if he do, with 30million naira, you may not be able to buy a land there..
He knows what he is saying....
There have been massive influx of SEeasterners to east recently with strong financial and infrastructural dev ongoin, which I have clearly noticed.

plaindealer: I love the new vigor and proud resurgence of the Yoruba language and speakers, it's taking over our landscape, it's almost the unofficial Nigerian language, it's the dominant language in social cultural and entertainment scene.
If you don't speak or understand Yoruba, you better go and learn because it's your future.. This statement is very wrong and insensitive to other Non-Yoruba Nigerians. Nigeria is a Nation in emergence. Different peoples dominate different aspects our National Life. In the Military and Bureau De Change Business, Hausa is the dominant language. In the entertainment and cultural aspects, Yoruba language is widely spoken. In the Trading and SMEs sector, the Igbo people dominate but it seems they don't encourage speaking their language to other or like the idea of other Nigerians understanding their language, they prefer to use Pidgin English. |

If two states could produce 18,000 blurred result sheets, how many would the other 34 states produce. It's 1...2...3 elementary. Honestly, most of these Obidents are NOT intelligent. Where did you see 18,000 blurred results sheets? What is the total polling Units in these two States that they will have 'Blurred results sheets' from 18,000 units? Blurred Images on IreV is NOT the same thing as 'Blurred Results sheets' Quality of the images depended on these who captured the images and the focusing power of the lens of the camera. All these does NOT affect the hardcopies. Did the testimony of the Professor as being discussed here in anyway relate to this? |

Christistruth03: The Problem is that they completely don't allow others such powers in their own States and Lagos is Yorubaland
If they have rejected Bianca Ojukwu who is from ordinary Enugu that is right next to Anambra how are they going to accept a Yoruba or Fulani Governor ? This is the problem! Non-indigenes can NOT exercise such rights in their States, so this will make it look unbalanced |
Politics › Re: Why Are There No Igbo Candidates Contesting For Elective Positions In Kano? by oyatz(m): 8:13pm On Jun 16, 2023 |
T8ksy: @ bolded.............Yeah, you are quite right in your assertion but one thing is sure, yorubas will never concede an inch of her territory to some immigrants from the never risen sun.
Moreover, all other groups in the country are watching how igbos are dragging lagos with the yorubas. No group , especially the minority groups will want to have any thing to do with them as it's certain that, the igbos will simply dominate them even in their own backyard.
I mean, if igbos can be this serious about extending their sphere of influence to a major state like Yorubas' lagos, then who among the minority groups can stop them from "colonising" their region, too. Actually, there is nothing bad if Igbos want to be Governor or hold political posts in Lagos since we are one country with the doctrine of equality of citizens. However, it will become problematic if this concept is only applicable in one direction. However, if non-Igbos can't exercise similar rights in Igbo States, then it will look like invasion & colonization of Lagos. The minority tribes in the defunct Eastern Region rejected Biafra (in which Igbo will be the only majority tribe) because they understand this phenomenon earlier and better. |
Politics › Re: Why Are There No Igbo Candidates Contesting For Elective Positions In Kano? by oyatz(m): 7:59pm On Jun 16, 2023 |
kettykin: Why was Kano not a former capital of Nigeria That is not the reason. Although, Kano is fairly Cosmopolitan and there are many non-indigenes that have succeeded politically in Kano but the Political Climate in Kano is not favourable for Igbos to participate in the Politics of the State. Non-indigenes with similar cultural values and common Islamic Heritage that have accepted and imbibed the Culture of Kano are allowed to participate and rise in the politics of Kano. For instance, the Late Alh Barkin Zuwo (Nupe) and Sen Ibrahim Shekarau (Barbur) became Senators and Governors in Kano despite being non-indigenes because they have 'naturalized' as Kano people. Tanko Yakassai and Sani Abacha are proud Kano men despite being 'non- indigenes' whose sons contested for Governorship of Kano. |

It all boils down to competition for power. The Igbos in Lagos also want to exercise powers in the State like being able to become Governors, Commissioners, Senators ,Reps and all the privileges that come with it just as the Yorubas have been doing since. |

nnamdi640: That is your problem, you are acting as if it is only Lagos such things are happening, what about Bayelsa where the major revenue of the country is coming from, how many things did fg did for them after collecting their land for crude oil drilling. Don't used stupid excuse to forcefully collect land sold out by thesame people your are defending. The other day I went to Epe, for something which I won't disclose, in my present one of the Baale of Epe came to settle a dispute based on him selling large size of a particular land to a person and part of the land he sold entered into another person land so they have to call him to settle it 1) LASG policy doesn't involve the FG, they aren't asking for more allocations. 2) Bayelsa State is free to implement whatever laws and policies they deem fit to protect their people. The FG already made lots of concession to them e.g 13% Derivatives, NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Presidential Amnesty Programs, Corporate Social Responbilities of IOC etc 3) The Lands used to build the National Stadium, Gowon Estate,FESTAC, Jakande Estate, National Theatre etc were acquired from the indigenous peoples by Gov't and don't involve you or your tribe, so I don't know why you are wailing over it. 4) The LASG sending her indigenes abroad to acquire further competitive skills or giving them grants to buy shares of companies to drive the State forward doesn't affect you in any negative way. 5) Whatever issues you or anyone has with any Baale should be sorted out in courts. 6) Every State in Nigeria is already blessed beyond description. The negative energy you expend on fighting over Lagos should be used to discover the potentials of State and transform them into wealth and development. |

Oga rest. Whether they are dominated by Yoruba, Togolese or Ebira, does it negate the fact that the indigenes of these towns/villages should not be denied the right to laying claims to their ancestral lands like all other Nigerians? Does it stop their children from getting LASG scholarships and employment? Does it stop LASG from sponsoring their descendants abroad to acquire modern skills in AI, ICT, Aviation ,STEM and other areas to be better equipped to compete in the ever changing World? Canada, USA and Australia have special 'packages' for the indigenous peoples, what is bad if LASG took into the plights of the indigenes of the State? |
