Car TalkRe: Help: Gear Issues With Honda Accord V6 2003 by pak(op): 10:16pm On Nov 02, 2010
I actually changed the gear oil about three weeks ago, Am wondering if that can be the cause of the problems.
Any response , please ? ?
Car TalkHelp: Gear Issues With Honda Accord V6 2003 by pak(op): 9:08am On Nov 02, 2010
who knows where I can get the Honda Genuine ATF Z1 in Nigeria ?

Please, I've had this Honda accord 2003 for some months now but recently started giving probs.
First, the check engine light came on and when I did a diagnostics, the following DTC codes came up,

p0506 - Idle control System RPM low,
p2122 - TPS/Pedal postition sensor/Switch D circuit low input
Switch E circuit low input

The guy who did the diag suggested we clear out the codes first and see if it will come back, which we did.

Some days later I had to take a journey of abput 8 hrs with the car (the first time am doing such)
and suddenly along the way, the car started jerking when either accelerating or deccelerating
and after sometime the reverse just stopped working. Which makes the gear, the prime suspect.
Long and short , we had to bring the car back to lag. after we had just reached Ife.

Please, I'l need expert advice on what can be done to this car. I really dont think I have that much money now to dump on this mechanic guys who are masters of trial and error.

Note: that when I stop the car and it cools for a while, the stuff works well until I have moved it for a while again before it starts acting up.
Thanks expert input will be greatly appreciated

Friend,
I'l give you the response I gave to a similar question 5 years ago when I was serving.

The cost of your wedding is the AMOUNT YOU HAVE AT HAND for the wedding.
Dont let any man deceive you.

BusinessRe: Illegal ATM Withdrawals: How To Seek Justice? by pak: 3:19pm On Jun 06, 2010
@Tundekas
Thanks for sharing about your case, quite encouraging
but the issue is, mine was an inter bank transaction i.e. used a GTB card on an oceanic quickcash ATM
and its already over 3 weeks and I've definitely been to the branch where my account was opened.

@nuero
Thanks for your response
but am quite suprised at your take on my post

You opened the thread and threatened fire(legal action) against GTB
I have just complained about a problem with the same bank, though not exactly same as yours but
still involves being deprived of ones hard earned cash, and you are advising (and infact pleading with) me not take
a legal recourse.
You were infact 'ASSURING' me and telling me i 'DONT' need court action in caps.
Are you a staff of GTB or CBN or EFCC or NIPPS or what ? How come you are bold enough to
give such assurances, something does not smell right here.

If my case goes as yours, that means I will be denied of value for my money for 11 months.
Can you imagine if perhaps I become a multi millonaire by that time, then the value of 40k will no longer
be the same to me and I would have lost the value I could have enjoyed on it now forever.
Or If God forbid, I need money so much very soon and I have to borrow 40k, will they agree
to pay the interest on my loan then ?

My major problem is even their lackasaidical attitude, just telling me 'pending' and nothing more
I work in IT and I know it takes less than a day to get responses from Interswitch as regards transaction details.

Am not angry neuro just a bit taken aback by your angle.

however am still open to advice as regards my next course of action

@Obinoscopy
pls read the post of Homerac7 and 4play, they to a large degree, speak my mind.

and on the issue of inflation, though am not an economist (and I hated the course way back sec sch.)
but I know that based on simple economic prinicple, An increase in demand will always push up prices especially when there is no corresponding increase in supply.

Just look at it from this simple scenairo, A trader has a bag of garri to sell and there are so many people who are willing and desperate to pay for that bag, he most probably would jack up the price.

I need someone with a more profound knowledge of economics to back me up here
BusinessRe: Illegal ATM Withdrawals: How To Seek Justice? by pak: 6:27am On Jun 06, 2010
@OP

Am sorry to barge in on your thread but I have a similar case and I'll need advice on what to do because this GTB guys are really dissapointing me and making me angry.

Over two weeks ago I tried to withdraw N60, 000 from my account from an Oceanic Quickcash ATM at an airport using my GTB mastercard.
Only N20, 000 got dispensed but 60, 000 was deducted from my account. I made a complaint at GTB and thats where am really losing my cool. They have been so lackadaisical about my complaints, The ATM officer just told me she has sent the request (for over two weeks) and the response is pending, no confirmation of my partial dispense, no refund, no promise of refund, nothing just pending and am really losing it. Infact the ATM officer told me point blank that there is nothing I can do about it, I asked her what other steps she (or her bank) can take and she just said nothing

Though I hate to go through this stress for 'just 40k' but its my money for crying out loud.
I intend to escalate my pursuit of this case next week and I already have some course of action in mind
but am still open to advice from informed Nland members or people who have gone thru such an ordeal before with GTB (or any bank for that matter) on how to handle this issue
PoliticsRe: Senate Proposes N15,000 Monthly Salaries For Unemployed Graduates, Aged by pak: 6:08am On Jun 06, 2010
As anybody ever heard of the word INFLATION ?

Does anybody care about the impact of increasing the money in circulation without neccessarily increaing productive capacity ?

Is there anybody who thinks it might just be better to fashion out ways to ameliorate the harsh business environment, so as to encourage entrepreneurship and increase jobs out there ?

Two, for those who have used the ACURA in Nigeria or anywhere (or know those that have used), what parts have been the ones that have frequently required replacements.

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks all and God bless.

I just saw the later posts this morning, You guys have given me food for thought cos

I was almost concluded on the ACURA, infact the only thing is, Money hasn't exchanged hands.

I'l think through and decide before the day's end.

obi58:
BROS STOP!!!!!!!

acura may be a luxury brand but have you checked on the availability of parts in the market??

before you close the deal, go and do a price comparison on the parts of the 2 cars at idumota or ladipo and the relative ease of obta
ining parts in the market. This may save you from a very costly mistake!

remember buying a car is not a naughty woman but its  maintenance.
I thought (infact I was told by the dealer) that Acura and Accord use the same parts and as such I'l not have any probs

with parts cos that's one of the first question I asked him when he offered the accord.

Am not really too much in the know in that regard anyway.
AutosRe: Pls help me with a VIN check; Acura Tl 2003 Or Honda Accord (eod) 2003 by pak(op): 4:50pm On Apr 22, 2010
Thanks all,

Just got back from the inspection of the Acura,

everything seemed okay, factory fitted AC, car in good shape, test drive went well

but dont have the VIN yet and might need wheel balancing but I dont think that should be a major issue.

A friend suggested I do a diagnostics on the engine.

The mileage was about 115K miles (sounds a bit high to me)

@kunle

The ACURA is an automatic,
I thought manuals were more susceptible to gear problems

Wow no response yet ! ! !

Maybe I should phrase the question this way,
which will you choose and why assuming the following
conditions ?

1) Both cars are in good conditions, no noticeable defects
2) Both are shipped in from the US
3) Both are automatic transmissions
4) The accord is fabric and the Acura as usual is leather (seats)

expecting responses
AutosPls help me with a VIN check; Acura Tl 2003 Or Honda Accord (eod) 2003 by pak(op): 11:06pm On Apr 21, 2010
Please, I'l need useful suggestions from nairalanders.

I presently have an option of purchasing either an ACURA TL 2003 model or an accord 2003 (EOD) at the same price. Though I know the decision will be fully mine at the end of the day but I will really appreciate informed opinions from more experienced guys.

For one I have never paid too much attention to Acura cos I initially did not consider it but with this offer, I have done some online searches and just need to hear from ppl with practical knowledge.

From my search, i wasnt really impressed by the ACURA 03's second generation body design compared to the EOD but I guess funcionality will be the preponderating factor.

So if u have anything beneficial to add, I'l appreciate. I have just 2 days (till friday) to pick either of them.

Thanks in advance

@ all
Though I initially felt that there might not be any need to post on this thread again since the OP claims he has got what he wanted but then some funny responses compel me to.

It should be noted that it's one thing to ask someone you know from work or wherever to sell you a car on the condition that you pay for it installmentally, this has been done since cars were invented, on the other hand to come online on a 'faceless' forum like nairaland and ask for someone 'who doesn't need money now now' and does not know where you work (or if you even have work at all) to come to your aid by selling you a car and allowing you to pay installmentally, beause he has 'plenty of cars' borders on the ridiculous.

If it doesn't sound strange to others who have viewed this thread, it does to me.
