HAPPY B'DAY ALFA ! ! ! |
Men, its difficult to express but the last two days of my life has been the most dramatic. Yesterday was probably the most challenging ever, infact my whole world was literarily crumbling. Infact I was at the point of solicitn for prayer and fasting from dearly beloved thread members .I faced a mountain that looked absolutely insurmountable but trust . . . . My Yahweh will always show up at the time you need Him most. Its hard to explain or even comprehend how things turn around, infact God is faithful. Today has been one of the best of my entire life, things worked so well that even the 'backlogs of badluck' from the previous day were cleared. Praise the Lord, that is my testimony. well there is one reason that I feel might be associated with my incredibly good fortune today. Guess . . . . . Its Alfaprime's birthday !!!! Yeeaah, my friend and brother adds another year today. |
. . . . . just doing a bit of reminiscing @aniffy4eva on page 6 and 8 I just want this thread to continue till when we get our employment letters, so we can sit back, scan through this thread, laugh and praise God for his Faithfulness @ jaloO boy, u be prophet ![]() |

amightyo:wetin be this ? Abeg if u wan speak english, speak english |
@Uchetobi to Opoks So I think your statement first and foremost is unfair….I concur. . . . |
I had a very interesting geography teacher way back sec school. His name ? Mr kolawole. He once told us that when a man truly wants to commit suicide, he doesnt leave a note or call b4 making the plunge. He just goes into the well head first, to ensure there'l be no chance of survival anything else is just a ploy to grab attention. @all How una dey ? Long time but no be my fault sha God bless. I think someone's bday is comin up soon on this thread. |
[flash=350,300] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wl5qRq0hgE&hl=en" [/flash] And we say the story of the good samaritan (and the guys who ignored the dying man) is just a parable. NO!, it's been played out in our own time. We (Nigerians /Africans) might not be worth more than samaritans compared to some others but then, there are some very good ones amongst us who are definitely worthy of the Lord's blessings. To read more about the story click the link below http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080606/ap_on_re_us/ignored_hit_and_run |
So much for the Africa / Nigeria bashing. I was at Ojuelegba sometimes late last year and an okadaman hit a girl. the way people rushed to the scene, you would have thought it was a bomb blast. As alfaprime advocates, its a reason to thank God for where we are and who we are. the fact that, 'in our own way', we are still concerned about one another and we still posess a strong sense of kinship, is in every way laudable. The video in my next post is a sharp contrast to the scenario i just described above. and this took place in America. 'God's own country'. |
@all Just wanted to share the funniest thing I'v seen this week with you. its from the independent, a UK based tabloid "Hillary has been beaten. Bill has dishonored himself. And Chelsea? Chelsea need have no regrets. She may be the candidate that brings the family back to the campaign trail again. But that drama is for another decade." |
@alfaprime Well, I read through Okey's piece with interest and I must say I dont really agree with most of his points. First, I'll say touche to the last paragraph. Forget the 'seven point agenda'., for now it has not taken a life outside the pages of the paper it was written on. Yar'adua govt suffers from lack of vision and solid preparation required for such a sensitive and important position. but despite the obvious minuses, its add to find fault in Yar'adua's integrity as a person (At least from a public perspective). I personaly feel Okey's view were beclouded by a deep-seated aversion for the ruling party and for OBJ in particular (don't blame him though). he did not remain objective all through his synopsis of the 'Yaradua situation'. I really cant go into specifics now. |
Wake up bros The most capped nigerian player is Muda lawal and he has less than 80 caps. next in line is Jay Jay Okocha. |
@Alfaprime Just went through Amaze's piece. It couldnt have been truer. Government in today's Nigeria bends more towards the personality of the leader than the ideology of the party in power. For instance, its extremely difficult to find similarities between Obasanjo's leadership and yar'adua. Yet they come from the same party. Lets just say, its our own evolving style of democracy. But I sincerely pray that approach dies with the current crop. @Kuwena I thought you'v resigned and should be restin by now ? why are u still yawning by 11 am in the morning ![]() |
@ Stannessi, I 'preciate your take on action makes some sense. but the truth is, you can equate Nation Building to sanitising a building. In the context of your story. just gettin up and acting might be the best tonic for a change. but in a larger perspective. You need a vision and you need to make the ppl around you blv in what you have in mind and see what you are seeing. The Holy book is replete with situations where people had to come together to rub minds in anticipation of a turn around in dire distress Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. and of course Isaiah 1v18 - come let us reason together , but then its good to know that you also have a passion to see that naija gets better ![]() its just that we have differences in our opinion of how that's going to happen. Anyway, I can just imagine you as a Minister or Senator ![]() All action, no talk ![]() Infact, Lagos state Gov. go fit you. As the popular cliche goes, 'Lagosians need action , marwa style ![]() Agba Kenosky, how far ? wen una dey come back? and I was wondering ? how's skeelo doing ? I guess he's with you . |
Dear Stannessi, Well, it will do well to remember that every great thing starts by talking about it. You have to be able to visualize, articulate and verbalize (a la Martin Luther King and others) before actions turn ideas into reality. And talking of actions, what are your suggestions I'l definitey be willing to follow your lead if you have anything concrete in mind. |
Alfaprime A people will end up having the kind of leadership and leader that it deserves. very true. its one observation I've made over the years. 1983 after the riotous second republic, Nigeria yearned for discipline. we got it - Buhari/ idiagbon 1985 we got tired of WAI and we needed a bit of laissez faire. Step in the lawless one - IBB. so much crime, so much looting, being dubious became legitimate. 1993 Sycophancy reached its peak. Abacha wasnt the worst man in Nigeria in those years It was those around him. Daniel kanu, Al Mustapha's of this world. Abacha was just the incarnation of the evil that lurked in the minds of men. 1998 After groaning under the burden for five years, divine judgement was served and deliverance came. do I need to go further ? In reality, the problem of Nigeria are the people themselves (ourselves). The leadership is just a reflection of the state of mind of the people. Its just that in times of dire distress that comes upon us by our own hands God in His infinite mercies always hears. Neh 9:26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.Give majority the opportunity and they will only look for ways to better their lot and the lot of their own nuclear family. Most politician we see today were once ordinary citizen. so its not an issue of 'we and them' but 'we and we' What we need is a re-orientation and the need to make young people see and believe in what we can achieve and become collectively as a nation. |
Got to call it a day. Have some deadlines to meet at the office. Have a wonderful nite and dream of 'Christian boy' Ronaldo. catcha tomoro got some ques to ask bout life in Gambia. |
