For identification, the op may open the dead snake's mouth (carefully). If there are fangs, the snake is venomous. If there are several teeth, but no fangs, the snake is non-venomous. From the appearance, it is probably a night adder. This is a venomous snake; however, the venom usually only causes local pain and swelling. That's probably why the dog survived. |
The op has simply put forward a correction. We may take it or leave it. English may not be our native language, but there is nothing wrong with improving our skills. We may regard the ability or write or speak effectively in English as a skill, the same way we may regard the ability to drive or cook as a skill. |
Freedom of speech should have its limits. This is very rude. If people cannot respect Trump as a person, they should at least respect the office of the president. The person who put this up should be sued for defamation. |
The title of this thread suggests that the whole of Ambrose Alli University is on fire, but from the pictures it is just one building (a bungalow) that is on fire. ![]() |
Just because James Ibori served sometime in the UK, doesn't mean he cannot get on with his life. It is not a crime for such a person to go for social events. I wonder whether people expected him to be under a self-imposed house arrest. |
GNLD itself is not bad. What is wrong is the deceit that network marketers use to get downlines. If they want to encourage other people to become network marketers, they should let people know that they are going to be introduced to network marketing or GNLD before the "interview". It is quite disheartening to advertise a regular job and ask the applicant to travel from Ilorin to Lagos for an interview, when the so-called interview is a lecture about GNLD. |
Hmm! So Okene has a higher population than Ijebu Ode, Osogbo, Ado Ekiti, Akure, Owerri, Uyo, Calabar, Lokoja, Makurdi, Minna, Yola, Bauchi! |
According to the Public Notice, the man did not "disown" his child. He simply declared that he is not the biological father of the child, with a forensic science report to support his statement. |
HumbleServant: The lifeless bodies of two herdsmen declared missing last week were reportedly discovered at a bush around Ossissa community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State, by police. The report says that the bodies were discovered, but does not give any suggestion as to how they died. How are we sure they were murdered? Is there any medical report? What about accident, suicide, a fight between themselves or natural causes as the cause of death? |

Film-makers and actors have the right to protest, but there is really nothing wrong with foreign films being dubbed and broadcast in indigenous languages. What purpose is to be achieved in preventing people from speaking or listening to indigenous languages? We cannot all have the same taste for films. Some of us prefer Nigerian films; some prefer foreign films; others prefer a mixture of both. The argument, that "the development is capable of destroying the indigenous film industry", is weak. Foreign films in English have not prevented or suppressed Nigerian films in English. Foreign films being dubbed and broadcast in indigenous languages provides employment for indigenous language interpreters. |
I don't understand why there should be crisis in the Senate over confirmation or rejection of an appointment. That is their job. They have the right to reject even a competent candidate without giving reasons. If the senators vote on the issue and the majority says "no", the Senate should simply move on. It is left for the presidency to resubmit the candidate or appoint another person for confirmation. |
kolnel:The federal government should ask itself why several Nigerians ship their cars to Cotonou rather than Lagos. Car importers would prefer to minimize cost wherever possible. If the cost of clearing cars were standard and at a cost similar to that of Benin Republic, our ports would get much more patronage. In addition, clearing of cars should not be cumbersome and should be achieved within the shortest time possible. Banning car importation through the land borders is not likely to work; there is no point in making rules that cannot be enforced. |
I don't understand the op's analysis. At present, 1 pound = 1.2662 dollar (https://xe.com) If 1 dollar costs 485 naira, then 1 pound should be 614 naira. If the pound can be purchased at 605 naira, then the pound is relatively cheap. |
I think the Junior Secondary Certificate Examination (JSCE) should be scrapped. It is a waste of time and resources. I am yet to see any advertised job in which the junior school certificate qualification is acceptable. The only subjects that should be made compulsory at secondary school certificate level are English Language, Mathematics and one science subject. |
New Zealand: There is good governance, which reflects on education, health, economic freedom and quality of life. It is an English-speaking country (so no language barrier). The country is relatively remote (1,500 km east of Australia) and peaceful. There are warm beaches as well as cool mountain peaks. There is abundant wildlife, yet there are no snakes. |
lifezone247:Why did you choose Cotonou as the port of discharge and not Lagos? (I'm not saying your choice was right or wrong; I just want to know why.) |
Jaynom:You're right. It's a case of self defence. |
CFCman:This means that several teams would travel to the world cup host country to play just two matches. I don't think this is a very good idea. |
Why were they arrested? |
marylandcakes:This is the real issue. In Nigeria, the driving licence is not categorized into automatic or manual. If we had such categories, with the above-mentioned restriction on the automatic licence, then each driver would know his or her place, and there would be no need for argument. |
Regardless of his status as a rapper, if those comments are really from CDQ, then it is rather unfortunate. An artiste should remember that he or she needs a fan base. How many fans would want to identify with an artiste who openly uses such abusive language? |
I thought that there would be at least one picture which covers the entire effect of the crash. |

abujasingles:English may not be our father's or mother's language, but being able to communicate effectively in speech or in writing, is a skill. A graduate who seeks employment in a multinational or international establishment may need to prove a good understanding of English language. On the other hand, these are just pictures with expressions of gratitude. Let's wish them well. |
This is an example of charging in US dollars for a transaction within Nigeria, thereby putting pressure on the naira. |
What has been shown is a dead baby by the roadside. We do not know whether a man or woman put the baby there. It is possible the baby was dead before he or she was put there. |
martinz1:A snake can temporarily dislocate its jaws to swallow its prey.
