Something is happening in Nigeria.

I'm seeing pictures of completed airport projects delivered in record time.
I'm hearing of projects delivered before schedule.
I'm hearing of improved power supply.
I'm hearing of the privatization of power being completed.
I'm hearing of recurent budgets reducing to the advantage of capital votes.
I'm hearing of massive revival in the agribusiness sector.
I'm seeing more roads being rehabilitated everywhere.
There is talk that rail rehabilitation is going on.
Even sef, I heard they've started the Engineering design of three new refineries.
Something is definitely happening in Nigeria. I wondered who is responsible.

I think "clueless" is a good thing afterall. 27 years of ''knowledge'' from OBJ, Yar Adua, IBB, Abacha and Buhari didn't see these happen.
Up Clueless. I will choose ''clueless that brings development over ''knowledge'' that brings backwardness.

People in the west are using their intellect to preserve every life that exists. Here in Nigeria, where religion is like food, people are using their intellect to device ways to kill their fellow humans like wrapping them around tires and burning them alive.
PoliticsRe: Concerns Over Governor Dickson’s Health Rise by PapaBrowne(m): 12:10am On Oct 01, 2012
debosky: So, according to you, 'They' are responsible for 'taking out' loyalist Dickson?

What evidence do you have to support this? Did 'they' send him abroad to 'woo investors' or make him go on 'holiday'?
Three A list loyalists in a space of 40 days should send a signal. And they only started happening after his security man was exed in June.
You don't need raw evidence. You don't wait to see your opponents card before you know his hand.

PoliticsRe: Concerns Over Governor Dickson’s Health Rise by PapaBrowne(m):
The New Strategy:
If you can't get him directly, take out his core loyalists.
The expected result: Somehow, without core loyalists, his protection can easily be compromised. He would also begin to feel insecure and react irrational and probably make massive blunders. Then at his weakest point, they intend to strike!! It will fail.

The first strategy was to intimidate him.
The calculations were that if you bombard the country, given his non military background and his seeming soft outlook, he would get scared and by himself resign from office. It didn't work.

The second strategy was to make the country ungovernable for him.
The calculations were that if you increase the tensions amongst the populace, he would become so unpopular and the people would revolt and literally send him packing. It appeared like it was going to work(especially with the fuel subsidy saga), then suddenly electric power started improving. Again, it didn't work.

They thought about the legal option. They are also tampering with the constitutional option(impeachment). They know it wouldn't work, so they are playing a new one.

The new strategy is to break the fences around him and weaken his protection. To achieve this, they knew his security man had to be out of the way. They are master strategists but their failure is in their underestimation of their prey. The man is an extraordinary strategist himself and as such has won them on all counts.

The sad thing is that they(the strategists) see us, the populace, as pawns in their evil game of chess.

Their last card is Kamikaze. They would seek to destroy everything including themselves and all of us.

One thing is sure. Their plans would fail. As one day, the sun would set on their behinds and they'll realize that the power they wield is transient.

International standards---not exactly! But commendable all the same. For a start they are perfect!

Something is definitely happening in the world. What I think we are seeing is a realignment of forces. There is a huge shake-up happening.
People are getting way too much freedom because of the internet and I must say. . . this is very dangerous for the world.
In the past, wars between nations were started by Governments. The citizens just had to follow and support their governments in many cases against their will.
The next phase will see wars been started by citizens and the government will have no choice but to follow.
Its a dangerous phase we are entering and the only prognosis is chaos and strife. Looks like bible predictions is for real afterall!

PoliticsRe: How Many Jobs Can Youwin! Awardees Create For The 33 Million Jobless Nigerians? by PapaBrowne(m): 1:33pm On Sep 14, 2012
Lets face facts. It is not directly the government's responsibility to employ people. It is the private sector who employs. The government creates an enabling environment for the private sector to take advantage and create employment.

Truth is the governments(Feds, State & LGs) keep failing in this regard, but the worst part is the people(private citizens) also fail woefully in their own responsibilities.

We love to cut corners. We prefer foreign goods. We rather buy cars than start businesses.

I keep saying this- every jeep you see is the equivalent of a brand new business with capacity to employ at least 20 people.
The 100 million naira plots of land in Lekki and the likes are capable of starting very productive industries.

Until we choose to stop looking to get rich quick and and focus on building wealth as against acquiring it, only then would we start seeing more jobs in thge economy!!
PoliticsRe: States In Nigeria With The Most Civilized Citizens by PapaBrowne(m): 10:01am On Sep 13, 2012
@topic.
How do you determine how civilized a citizenry is? Is it by the level of education or by the level of international exposure or by the character of the citizens??
Lagosians have the most exposure and probably are the most educated but they act in some of the crudest manners as a result of the pressures of daily struggles.
Cross Riverians on the other hand might not be as educated but have a form of civility that makes them more organised, clean and generally better mannered.

So how do you really measure "Civilization"?
PoliticsRe: States In Nigeria With The Most Civilized Citizens by PapaBrowne(m): 9:59am On Sep 13, 2012

You've lost the track. You said "my claims are baseless", then what should I say about yours?
You opened the thread and didn't even read through before quoting my post. Better read over the first page to confirm how baseless my assertion are undecided

Even from your post, I guess you thought I was referring to medical practitioner when I meant "Doctor as in Ph.D holder".
I have proof for my claims. Anyways, you said "doctors". If you meant Ph.Ds, you should have stated that.
I don't like misinformation, so anytime I see one, I try to correct with facts knowing well that the internet has become a repository of knowledge with would be sourced for reference way into the future. So the less we have misinformation, the better for all of us!
PoliticsRe: States In Nigeria With The Most Civilized Citizens by PapaBrowne(m): 8:56am On Sep 13, 2012
Paul John: Is education not the basis of civilization? If it is then, I think Ekiti should be among the first group.
This state has the highest number of Profs and doctors in this country. More than that of the whole of S/Southern states combined together.
Ileke idi and ekt bear tell them cool
That's how we've been deceived for years! Please can you show me one chart or statistics to prove your claim!! You know that thing they say about repeating a lie over and over until it is suddenly mistaken for the truth??

These are facts. You can cross check.

There are 25 Medical Schools in Nigeria.
Edo state has the highest number of Medical schools in the country. Lagos has the second highest.
Edo state alone shares the same number of medical schools with the 5 core states of the South West.
Edo = 3 medical schools (Ekiti,Osun,Ondo,Oyo & Ogun)= 3 Medical Schools.
The south south has by far the highest number of medical schools in the country.

Number of Medical Schools by Region
Lagos: 2
Edo: 3
South South: 8
South East: 6
Northern Nigeria: 6
South West(Minus Lagos: 3
South West(Plus Lagos): 5

There is undisputed proof that the states that produce the highest number of Doctors in the country shuttles between Imo, Edo, Delta. If you want facts, I would present. About professors, I have no data. But again, I know that your claim is baseless like most others we have been decieved with previously.

Working on the roof top on a construction job in Virginia. Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania passed right on top of Us. We had heard of the twin towers bombing at the time and wondered why a plane flew so low.

Funnily, just before that while on the rooftop, an old woman comes out to tell us that planes have just crashed into the world trade centre and everybody laughed thinking she was watching a movie. It was only some hrs later during break that we realised the story she told was no movie!

Woow. To think that thats 11 years ago already!! The roof memories- nostalgic!!!
PoliticsRe: Buhari Dissmisses South South Endorsement Of Jonathan by PapaBrowne(m): 2:52pm On Sep 11, 2012
Buhari is very unintelligent. Very very unintelligent.
First, I can't fathom why all he talks about is elections. He talks nothing about Economics, nothing about Agriculture, nothing about healthcare, nothing about re-engineering the polity! Nothing just election! Pathetic!

Elections happen one day in 4 years. On that day, the people are expected to give to the politicians. And for the rest of the 4 years, the politicians are expected to give to the people. If all Buhari talks about is the day of elections, then the man surely does have a mental problem.

Secondly, if you want to win elections, then you know that every vote matters. You even go to you enemies camp to canvass for vote.
Buhari has ruled out the south south and probably the south east- same reason he failed last year,!!

I think the man is wired to fail. Failure runs in his DNA. Looks like the Babangida crew injected him after the 1985 coup with substances that weakened his intelligence. The man should be checked.

This Government is doing things that were not done in the last 25 years in Nigeria.

Power- For the first time, We are feeling the impact.

Agriculture- Tremendous change is happening there!

Roads- There is highway construction happening in every region and they are countless. It could be faster.

Railways- Small small renovations of tracks. We need faster tracks.

Airports- Not only have they remodelled the horrible prisons we called airports, they are building brand new terminals!! Excellent!

The Police- The police force has begun to solve very mysterious murder cases in very explained fashion.

There are only two area this Government has not yet hit a home run- 1) Corruption 2) National security!

We need to accord them accolades when they perform!! And I think they are sitting up fast!!

PoliticsRe: Christian Corpers Lodge Suffers Early Morning Attack In Jalingo, Taraba State by PapaBrowne(m): 8:37pm On Sep 06, 2012
[quote author=sage_]Gunmen attacked the lodge of the Redeemed Christian Corpers Fellowship early yesterday in Jalingo, Taraba state capital .

The bandits who stormed the Family House of the Redeemed Christian Corpers Fellowship (RCCF) held the parishoners hostage for hours after relieving them of hundreds of thousands of dollars and other valuables.

The gunmen gained entrance into the Corpers lodge from a toilet in the female wing of the building. They carted off three laptops, about 24 mobile phones and thousands of naira.

“We were about 20 corpers in the lodge when it happened," recalled a church member. All our phones were taken away, some of us had two, three phones. Our monthly feeding allowance which we contributed to was also taken away by the evil men.”

A fellowship member who asked that his name not be used in print said: “We were sleeping when some men came in holding all sort of dangerous weapons but we never resisted them, we obeyed their orders because we were in great fear. They asked us our state of origin and religion and threatened to behead us if we misbehaved. ”

RCCF president Banji Omogbehin said "the bandits were asking us for our state of origin, threatening to rape our ladies and behead us." A motive for the attack is unknown.

Excellent article!!Excellent!

And this is my best>>>>

What Dr Goodluck Jonathan must, however, come to terms with is that presidents don’t crave momentary applause as he seems to be doing; they target history. To his credit, the power situation has improved significantly but the things that would earn him enduring legacy in the sector (or in any other sector for that matter) are not necessarily decisions that would provoke instant praise. The way things are in Nigeria today, the president is like a man charged with leading an orchestra. To succeed, he must learn to back the crowd.
Display of intelligence!!!

nawebco: yes 240 factories is nothin in over 180million nigerians. this is an average of 7 factories for a whole state. What effect do we expect from that in a whole year. Anyway lets continue to watch and pray.
The same people opening the factories are humans like you. Why haven't you opened yours yet. Wait for government to help you open factories, you hear!!
Listen, Government creates the environment, while the people open the industries which in turn create the jobs.

If government does its part and majority of people fail to do their part, then the failure is ours!

I agree with you though, the number is small in for the context it was used. MAN is a manufacturing association and has membership of only large manufacturing outfits. 200,000 jobs form 240 companies since last year is huge by any count.

Nigeria is changing. So a minister of a highly lucrative portfolio during a privatization exercise can resign for the sake of a transparent process!! Hmmm!!

The Nigeria I knew before, all the bids that would come in would belong to the minister, his friends and family and there will be no problem with that.

Respect to Nnaji. Respect to GEJ.

More than anything, this action sets a standard against corruption and I believe that if Nnaji, who by any count was an excellent performer would be let off for complicity, every other minister would have no choice but to hold their job with the utmost integrity or else. . . .

PoliticsRe: There May Be Little Or No Oil In Sokoto by PapaBrowne(m): 9:22am On Aug 30, 2012
auwal87: @PapaBrowne

I can tell you that the Southern Governors are doing this just to impose their own political will in their states. State Police means some separate State Laws. An offence in Enugu may not be an offence in Lagos, we will not be so sure until it is implemented and the Governors did not impose or allow some outrageous acts to happen in the states. In the long run, it might led to the separation of the country. grin
But the Northern Governors used Sharia and that also means the law in Kano is different from the law in Ogun or Taraba state. So if Sharia law is OK, then whats wrong with state police. Kano state already runs the Hisbah. The whole idea of state police is to ensure that security is localized. Why should Abuja supply the budgets that would determine security is states when the challenges arr localized? Simple things like armed robbery and enforcing law and order should be left to the state police while the more complex factors like Boko Haram and Niger Delta militancy should be left to the federal police system.
TravelRe: Aviation-Minister Blocks Foreign Airlines From Abuja by PapaBrowne(m): 3:02pm On Aug 28, 2012
Kobojunkie: Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the destination choice supposed to be based demands from users? If many of those flying into Lagos are in fact customers who want to land in Lagos, why should the airline instead take them to Enugu?
No ma! It is not. Read up the case against Virgin's airline operating in America. You can also extend your reading to cover non-aviation issues and read up the hurdles non American companies pass through before berthing in America. Read CNOON, Dubai Ports, Rupert Murdoch and a host of others.

The big question would be- why hasn't UAE accorded Arik Arik its application to fly direct to Dubai? Why is it only Abu Dhabi that was given Arik Air?
These guys are cut throat in their business operations and yet they want to benefit even more from the Nigeria market!
