caseless: Muhammadu Buhari(alive)Only Boko Haram and Almajiris listen to Buhari. Wasnt born, but I hear Murtala had a communist leaning. Meaning in a short while he would have been a huge failure. No disrespect intended but the much I remember about Yar Adua is how he slowed down the power projects, brough in Sanusi to destory our banking sector and went to Saudi and left Nigeria in Chaos. |
I hope the gunmen end up with a double dose of Leprosy and Tuberculosis, two very debilitating contagious diseases! They would eventually go back to the same hospital, but this time around, for quarantine and possible treatment. Next time their greed will take them to the graveyard! |
Ilaje44: Not only Abeokuta and Ibadan my dear. A lot of the cities and towns in Yorubaland have a very unique charm. I just love Ekiti towns especially. All we need is just facelifting all these infrastructures. Nigeria has got great touristic potentials. The "charm" comes from the fact that development stopped in the western region since the demise of Awolowo. The Evenness of the rustic roofs is basically what gives that seeming charm from above the sky. Hit Ground and it all pales into squalor. In other cities that are ancient like Benin, Enugu or Calabar, you have truckloads of modernity sitting side by side that ancient rustic feel. Meaning, despite their age development keeps progressing albeit slowly. I love rustic though. I love rustic as in pictorally. Just wouldn't live under a rustic roof. |
Looking at the statistics, you can tell its a typo. There is no way that record is accurate because there is no specific cultural or traditional practice in Ogun that is significantly different from the rest of the western states such as to warrant such a large disparity in figures. |
ypzilanti: Private jet is always about ego. Much greater men with more commitments than our tin gods in Nigeria do not have private jets. There is nothing bad about rewarding your hard work with some luxury if you are in business, but that is not for people who are in the 'non profit' sector. How about if you read hard, come up with ideas about a subject and write a book then go on to sell millions of copies? Do you have the right to buy a private jet? Forbes said Rhapsody(the daily devotional from Pastor Chris) sells 2 Million dollars worth month. Should that be classified as Charity? The guy writes a book and it sells well. Don't you think the proceeds from the book belongs to him?? I don't believe church offerings & tithes in a small church like Pastor Ayo's( Less than 20,000 members in all)would ever be able to buy a private jet even if you save it all for 3 decades. |
danjohn: At what scale do they do their charity? How big is their microfinance bank? What percentage of the church's resources goes to charity (or the microfinance bank) versus flamboyant frivolities like this jet. The fact that their so called microfinance bank is not a household name tells me that it still has a lot of room to grow. How much do tithes and offerings contribute to a church really. Its very meagre. Pastor Ayo has just one church no branches per say and its based in Warri. It has maybe like maximum of 20,000 members. Half that population would be children. Another half would be jobless stay at home moms with no salary whatsoever. Add that to the numerous graduates without jobs. You might end up with 5000 tithe paying members. In a country with GDP of $2500 per annum, a 10% tithe would equate to $250. Multiply that by 5,000 tithe paying members and you end up with a maximum of $1.25 Million in a year. Now can this figure you a freaking jet. Na it would take you at least 10 years of doing nothing else to buy a jet. Truth is these guys get more money from books, gifts and speaking engagements than they will ever get from church offerings and tithes. I have seen small time pastors who recieve brand new car gifts from members. My friends father is a pastor of a 1000 member church. One of his members built him a house. So I dont see why its impossible for church members to buy a jet for their leader. I believe though that the church is no doing enough in terms of charity. Much of what we have as hospitals and schools are remnants from the missionaries of yesteryear. If today's church does the same, the story would be absolutely different. |
It will cost a minimum of $300,000 to fly a privately owned bombardier jet from Lagos-London (aircraft parking fees, fueling, landing, takeoff etc) Can't these and the cost of acquiring the jet be used to better the lot of even some of his impoverished church members? If I owned a church, I would use the money generated to fund entrepreneurial schools and finance the students' businesses afterwards and also give to charity There are damn too many people in need in the Niger Delta
They already do all that. Its just that we like talking without researching. The Church in question(Pastor Ayo's) has a Micro-finance bank and it helps lots of entrepreneurs with loans for businesses. I am not a fan of extravagance, and neither do I like the excesses of many churches but common sense would tell you that people wopuld not keep going to these churches in numbers if they are being fleeced without benefit. When you go through a church you see lots of big cars, chubby looking fellows and well dress folks. You hardly see poverty, I can tell you that for sure. |

mathskill: I believe BH existed before CPCBut you conveniently forgot that CAN existed ages before the PDP. The interesting power of bias over perceptions! |
luluosas: It is a pity that you don't reason at all.I raise very salient points, you failed to respond to them. Rather you choose to "All muslims are not Boko Haram". For crying out loud, even a two month old baby should know that. Afterall Fashola is a Muslim and nobody thinks he is Boko Haram. The point is simple. CPC has a coloration that shares similarities with Boko Haram. If there is anything they have in common, it is the fact that they hate Christians. I proved it by the words from their leaders. But ask yourself. Why would a political party come out and be attacking CAN. Except the party is either very dumb or really doesn't want Christians in its fold. Seriously, this is beyond foolish from the CPC. El Rufai attacks CAN. Then CPC comes out to attack CAN. Truth is CAN is an institution that would outlive Oritsejafor, but the attack on CAN would be used against CPC for ages to come. It is just a pity that a party that should be seeking to reduce its Islamic coloration would go on attacking Christians and somehow expect to win elections?? I dodnt get the stupidity! |
^^^^Lacking in intelligence, speechlessness is the natural next line! |
kodewrita: And what if you get hit by a car before your EDT(Expected Death Timestamp)?Exactly my thought. These scientists sef ehn! I call it the declining act of over-intelligence. You get so intellingent that you start getting so stupid. Sleep Wake pattern. The last I checked, I wake up early when I sleep early and wake up late when I sleep late. |
luluosas: It is a pity that religious sentiment have blinded your sense of reasoning! What has his calling Boko Haram an arm of CPC got to do with religious sentiment. Boko Haram asked Buhari to be their spokesperson. Have you ever heard any CPC member condemn Boko Haram. Instead, El Rufai kept asking Government to dialogue with the group and stop using force. The same El Rufai who said it was Christains that were bombing churches. Truth is CPC and Boko Haram share so much similarities, its only fair to link them with the group. |
The only reason CPC hates Oritsejafor so much is because of Oritsejafor's vocal war against Boko Haram. CAN before Oritsejafor watched Christians being killed across CPC strongholds for ages without word. Anytime a religious cleansing took place in the North, Onaiyekan, the former CAN President would run to Sokoto like the Sultan's boy to beg for peace. It was appalling. Interestingly, the CPC loves Onaiyekan so much. Oritsejafor is different. Since his advent, we Christians are no longer perceived as weaklings who can do nothing when the blood suckers come around. He has gone to the ends of the earth(thank God he now has a jet, no more Arik wahala)to make a case against Boko Haram. He was invited by the Americans to address the Senate and make his case against Boko Haram. He made a strong case. CPC is an anti-Christian Party. And to prove it, it has no christian political office holder. Buhari was comfortable with choosing Bakare because Bakare is a former muslim. Also, the party has no interest in non muslim states. Of course it would attack CAN. Thank God for PRIVATE JET, Oritsejafor can fly in comfort without fear that CPC and its Boko Haram affiliates would seek to poison his tea aboard his Arik Air flight. |
Owerri – The police in Owerri on Friday said a mob killed two suspected members of a four-man robbery gang, believed to have been terrorising residents of Spibat area of Akwakuma, Owerri. The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mr Vitalis Onugu, told reporters that the suspects were arrested by members of the Special Anti-Robbery squad at the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who responded to a distress call. He said the two suspects were first arrested by the local vigilance group operating in Spibat area in Akwakuma and about to be lynched by the mob when the police arrived at the scene and rescued them. “Responding to the call, the anti robbery squad got there and found the suspects already tied down with tyres around their necks and were about to be burned alive. “They were rescued but at the point of death as a result of machete cuts dealt on them by the angry mob. They died before we could get them to the hospital. “However, one of the suspects, Buchi, from Akpodim in Mbaise, Imo, managed to describe to the policemen the location of their hideout before he died,” he said. Onugu said the police immediately swung into action and arrested two other suspects in a thick bush behind Orji Mechanic Village in an uncompleted building. The suspects were alleged to have dispossessed people of their laptops, cell phones, plasma television sets and ATM cards, Onugu said. He said that items recovered from the suspects included Indian hemp, charms and magical instruments, assorted SIM cards, cell phones and white candles with an inscription “white confusion”. The police spokesman also said that loaded double barrel shotguns and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects. He said a full investigation into the incident had begun. (NAN) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/11/2-robbery-suspects-killed-by-mob-in-owerri-police/ Please people. Analyse the highlighted. Questions to ask: How did the vigilante group disarm the "armed" robbers without shooting at them? How come the reporter didn't speak of any of the victims of the robbers? So even after the other two suspects were aware that their fellow thieves were caught, they still went to their hideout?? While these guys might truly have been thieves, which crime is worse: Killing or stealing?? |
dadicvila: did u read the article at all?how dare you say they were unarmed?i pray armed robbers pay your family a visit this night then you will know they are armed....they should have burnt them joh!why delay till i.diot policemen rescue them??there are many armed robbers on nairaland advocating for the right of their colleagues to rob and maim innocent Nigerians and go scot freeMy own prayer for you would have been that while you live your house someone would accuse you of something you didn't do and you would be mobbed without the option of justice. But no, I would pray that happens because I'm not a babrbaric murderer. You are either highly unitelligent or you didn't read the article. Because if you are or did, you would know that there was no way the police were telling the truth. No half way dead person would have the strength to tell you his hide out. For intelligent folks out there, please reread the highlighted portions of the article below and ask questions |
The big question is this: Murdering of innocent people(innocent until proven guilty) or stealing of laptops, which is a graver crime? The police is bragging about arresting the rest of the criminals?? How about the murderers that perpetuated the more grievous crime of beating to death people that were unarmed? This society is broken. We the people are the problem. Imagine the number of potential murderers that exist in this country? Why is it that anytime there is mob action, there whole community is in support? The guy standing next to you is a potential murderer. If someone erroneously accuses you of theft, you are turned to kpomo in less than an hour. This is not the failure of government. This is a simply a culture of cannibalism. Probably a hundred million murderers in this country. Gotta go somewhere else men. Gotta go!! |

Would work depending on two things. 1) Taste 2) Ease If it tastes as good as whats already existent, then be sure it should work. The other factor is Ease of use. Interestingly, some of these ready made meals require almost the same effort to prepare as the regulars. But you are on track sha. I've always wondered why Nigerians are kinbd of slow with innoivation. Imagine that till today we have modernised Akamu, Palmwine, Kuli kULI, Akara, Kunu, Zobo and all our other local deliccacies. You might just be unto some big. A revolution of some sorts. My advice would be to make some products. Few quatities and package them properly. Give it to friends and family and see their reaction. Don't inform them its your new business plan so they can give you realistic opinions. |
daywatcher: So we our roads beta pass Ukraine and Poland? How Brazil come be 118th? Even Norway..80 something? The article is misleading. A poll was conducted to determine peoples perceptions of their road infrastructure. This is a perception index and does not in anyway reflect the comparative state of roads in the various countries. The heading should read, NIGERIANS 12OTH WORST PERCEPTION OF THIER ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE. |
acidtalk: *Laugh make me go use play slap Boko Haram Oga pata-pata for face*If Afghanistan and Somalia are threatening to deport Nigerians is it not because Nigerians just like you and everyone of us have chosen to exhibit bad characters in different countries across the world. Aren't there also Nigerians that are been begged to come over to developed countries worldwide and help contribute to their development. Lets talk about the policy. Its an excellent policy as it would help attract investment to the country. Nigerian embassies as regards visas were treating foreigners maybe worse that the foreign embassies in Nigeria treat Nigerians. It is very bad for business. A smooth visa policy is an essential too for investment. Read up UAE or Singapore and go figure! If you've flown to Nigeria recently, do you see the amount of foreigners from various countries on the planes? Before it used to be just Indians, Chinese and Lebanese, but these days you meet every nationality including all the way Australians. I always wonder: these people no dey fear Boko Haram sef?? Nigeria's economy is attractive so we much support our attractiveness with friendly visa regimes to help improve the investment climate. |
I think I will reiterate your point by adding that no Ethnically Homogenous city worldwide has ever prospered. There is a lot of reasons for this. By any count, trade and the quantity of it are usually responsible for the prosperity of a city. Now, any city that must prosper must trade beyond its borders. As cities trade with other cities or nations, people from such places get attracted to the city and settle. They bring in their different cultures and and their own methods of operations. The city always benefits when foreigners especially enterprising ones are attracted to it. Lagos, PH and Abuja are ok, but not excellent. You would think that these cities would attract people from countries across Africa, but no.l Its just Nigerians and maybe Nigeriens and few populations from other cities. AZ national melting pot? Yes. An international one? No. One of the biggest barriers to diversity is language. Cities that tend to speak their local dialect attract less foreigners. PH, Warri, Lagos and Abuja are about the only cities in Nigeria where the local dialect is not sopeken in the market place. |

All these people thinking all these monies come from church offerings, think again! How much do people put in offering? Or how much do people pay as tithes? Ask any bank cashier and he will tell you how s/he hates counting church money because it is filled with 10, 20, and 50 Naira notes. Let do a small analysis on tithes. Imagine a church of 5,000 worshippers. Lets say the majority(maybe 4000) as always speculated by Nairalanders are the suffering masses. The rest 1000 middle & upper class Nigerians. Assume the average earnings of the masses to be 25,000 monthly. Assume the average earnings of the middle class to be 100,000 monthly. Tithes = 10% of earnings. Masses: 10% of 25,000 Naira = 2500 Naira. Total(maximum) tithes receivable from masses = 2500 x 4000= 10,000,000 Naira Monthly. Middle & Upper Class: 10% of 100,000 = 10,000. Total(Maximum) tithes recievable= 10,000 x 1000 = 10,000,000 Naira Monthly. Total Maximum in the assumption that everybody has a job and everybody pays tithes= 20,000,000. Now lets remember that in that 5,000 Church, there are maybe 2000 children and teenagers who don't pay tithes. Then there are housewives who don't earn money. Then there are able bodied man still looking for jobs. Maybe you find that at the end, only 1000 members pay tithe. In which case the average tithe accruing to the church monthly would be about 4 MILLION Naira only. Now seriously, a 5,000 member church is a really big church in Nigeria.Really really big. How many salaries and projects can 4 million actually finance. Its unfair to assume that a man that who has built a network of thousands of people who he influences, teaches thousands weekly and and spends time working hard to write books that gets sold to millions would dip his hands in the meagre tithes that come in. I was in a business conference recently with Myles Munroe speaking and he said he earns over $5000 dollars per hour on his speaking engagements and royalties from his numerous books.By the way he speaks in large corporations like SONY and United Nations too. That is $120,000 per day. That's more than your very well paid footballer. Or more than Jayz earns. I read on Forbes that 2 million copies of Rhapsody are printed monthly and sold for about $1. Thats 2 million Dollars from Rhapsody alone. Please many of these pastors work really hard and earn every dime they get. They deserve to get the best tools that would enhance their working capacity. And a Private Jet is in order for someone that has the ears of millions worldwide. |
Interestingly, this was the church from which Deeper Life actually came from. W.F.Kumuyi was once a pianist at the Apostolic Faith Church back in the 70s. |

Ivynwa: @JallowInvasion of privacy?? Hehe... inside a relationship where private parts have been thoroughly invaded? I don't understand. Help me explain. My opinion: The truth is if two people trust themselves well enough, passwords would not be a problem. From experience, I leave my phone in the public domain only when I have nothing to hide. When I have something hideous, it stays in my pocket and I sleep with it like that. When it is really really hideous I change the password temporarily. Recently changed the password on my Galaxy and forgot what I used. Till today, that phone is off waiting till the day I'll remember the password. Interestingly, none of my actions were related with unfaithfulness. There are many reasons besides unfaithfulness that make people protect their passwords from each other. For me, it is the fact that the other party might not have the capacity at the time to handle the information contained. For the sake of maintaining trust, passwords should be shared voluntarily. If you cant share you password with someone you love, its because you've got something to hide or you are just a hideous character. |
Why did Cosmas try to get into this dirty oil business after all his hardwork! Oil business is for dirt people. Reformed criminals and the like. Not for a honest man who struggled his way to the top. I hope he gets the money. The money is not even his. It belongs to access bank. If he doesn't get it back, his whole business might fall into ruin and Coscharis might go the way of many others. I pray for him. |
hoodboy: So who are they calling careless, the deceased? If so I'ld say it is a rather insensitive statementSadly it appears like an insensitive fact. However instaed of looking at it from the angle of carelessness, I'd rather look at it as selflessness. He literally sacrificed his own life to save someone else. |
Without question, one of the best performing ministries in this administration is the Agriculture ministry. Another fact is that this (Adesina) is the best Agriculture minister Nigeria has produced till date. In time past, 90% of the Agriculture Ministry's budgets and functions were focused on sharing fertilizers- a very pathetic reality that created powerful cartels whose only function was to get the products at highly subsidized prices and sell back to farmers at market rates. With this admistration, focus has shifted to every other previously neglected areas from improved seedlings, reduced wastages, better access to markets, etc with a view of impacting the entire value chain. The whole idea is to move from Agriculture to Agribusiness- a situation where food production is seen as a business with money to be made from it as against the current status where food production is a culture engaged in by those who seek to protect the heritage(Farming, Grazing,Fishing) that has been passed down from previous generations. We are in a new era. One that beckons on me and you and every other entrepreneur out there to go back to the village and convert those huge swaths of forests into fruitful harvests that would feed Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world! As per the article, the writer should begin to think himself as a businessman and not just an ordinary farmer. A businessman would go any length to obtain the fertilizer he needs for his farm. That way a real market would be created and people would seek to satisfy the market and a glut would form and prices would drop!! Its time to apply progressive rules of engagement. Lets stop expecting handouts. |
