Romance / Re: Why Are Girls From Rich Homes More Appreciative? by Parablesonmarble: 4:52pm On Apr 18, 2020
purpinkx:
The problem most humans have is seeing things in extremities, black and white, no middle ground.

[Some] Rich people [I've met] are greedy.
[The] Women [I've met] are wh°res.
[The] men [ I allow into my life] are dogs.

Etc.

We don't like to use the words in the brackets because it exposes something about us, and it makes our argument invalid.

I saw a research on coaches and training facilities.

According to the research, when a coach, for some reason, likes a player and ‘thinks’ that they can go far in life, the coach gives them more training opportunities, corrects them constructively, freely offers useful tips and tricks, as well as become interested in their progress.

The player feels encouraged and, most times, becomes successful.

However, if the coach, for some reason, doesn't like a player and ‘thinks’ they don't have what it takes to be successful, he doesn't invest( or ’waste’) his time on the player. After all, they'll be no good.

Subconsciously, the player picks up on this and behaves accordingly. A few see it for what it is, do all they can to prove the Coach wrong, and they succeed.

A real life scenario. There's this shop I usually Barb at. There are two barbers in the shop, but I like one more than the other.

Even if the barber I like makes a mistake in my hair, I still feel dope AF. But, the other barber could give me a clean hair cut, maybe even better than that of the barber I like, and I'll feel my confidence drop until the hair grows back. I even had to get the barber's number so I'll schedule a haircut with him before going to the shop.

It is what it is, we are humans and we all have biases.

Could it be that you are projecting your expectations of these people on them? Or that you're attracting what you think of?

Excellent submission. You may be right or wrong since no study has been done on the subject but your argument is solid and no right thinking person can ignore such. The op must have dated a sizeable number of ladies to reach his conclusion.

Romance / Re: Is It Okay For A Married Woman To Have A Guy As Her Bestie? by Parablesonmarble: 12:18pm On Mar 30, 2020
Love in marrige lasts only for medium term. It is the warm component. Passion (sex) lasts even for a shorter period. It is the hot component. However, companionship lasts for a longer period than both. It is the cool component.
When your partner isn't your friend from inception and both the hot and warm components are stronger than the cool component, eventually they both will fizzle out and you just find out your bestie is someone else and not your partner. One needs a healthy dose of the three components to have a balanced and enduring relationship. Google ' Seven Year Itch' and maybe you'll understand why a married person's best friend can easily be someone apart from the partner.
I'm not saying it is sensible to have a bestie outside your marriage but it happens all the time and these people would rather they have their partners as their besties but it is what it is.
What do I even know......forming a useless love doctor online! Anything goes jor.

When they tell Youths of this generation to know their root, Cultures and traditions they will insult you and call you archaic/ancient. My Dear incest is NEVER accepted anywhere even in the Bible. Trust me you won’t be able to handle the consequences. If truly you both are related by blood, don’t go ahead with that plan of yours because it will backfire.

People on this NL who doesn’t understand how related you both are or what your traditions are will tell you to damn the tradition and marry her. Remember they won’t be there tomorrow to bear the consequences with you. They have their sacred traditions they respect and uphold but will quickly thrash yours just to sound woke undecided

There’s a huge difference between CIVILIZATION and TRADITIONS. Some cultures and traditions are still powerful no matter how civilized or how religious the World is. Listen to the WORDS OF WISDOM, Listen to the WORDS OF THE ELDERS

Please sir, this is not out of being rude or insensitive but more out of being curious. What do think happened to Albert Einstein, the greatest scientist of our time, on whose idea this phone and internet I'm communicating with u was fabricated? He married his first cousin after the end of his first marriage and heaven didn't fall. Was he given a special grace or was it just a case of love is where u find it? Not saying incest is good, just looking for more submissions to convince me man didn't evolve from lower animals. Thanks.

my2chains:

to me i dont really think that will be a big deal,

the thing is there are general markets just almost everywhere.

You can just walk up to sellers there and ask them if you can be supplying them fresh okro straight from the farm,

or better still pay their market union fees and take your produce direct to the market and sell

buyers will ask you where your farm is so they can be coming there direct to buy rather than you bringing it down to the market.

The thing is for you to just move around and ask for where major sellers of okro are and supply them

hmm the last time i went for a market survey on a basket filled with okro the woman told me she bought it for 4,500 and that was during october last year

I asked cos when I was at Leventis Foundation/Osun State Agric School in 2016, we planted both 42-day dwarf and lady finger species. It was a wonderful experience learning to grow and tend. However, sales became an issue. In southwest, half of the population do not eat okro for different reasons, part of the remaining half preferred jute mallow (ewedu) to okro. Since demand was poor, price was low. I then asked about post- harvest processes and I realized that very few Yoruba take processed okro (orunla).
I expanded my research and realized that South- east and South-south people eat more okro and both fresh and processed okro are valued especially during dry season when you only grow by fadama. The problem to me now is going as far as east or south-south to get market may be counterproductive in the long run. Well, I guess you'll never know until you try.

I love your post. Sound, precise and concise but you missed the biggest part, which I was earnestly looking forward to. How do I identity my market? Okro as a fresh vegetable has short life span. If I don't have a market, what are the post-harvest processes I can use to still make sales and eventually smile to bank? I'll really love to get answers to these questions.

Well, she's Yoruba...

Only 10 Nigerians have ever been nominated for Grammy. Of all 10, 7 are full fledge Yorubas (KSA, Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Kah-Lo, Wizkid, Sikiru Adepoju and Babatunde Olatunji), 1 is half Yoruba (Burna Boy) while the remaining 2 are Chimanda Adichie and Timaya. In diaspora, Sade Adu, Seal, Tunde Bayewu of light house family and Angelique Kidjo are half Yoruba or have Yoruba roots. There is no question to the fact that the Yorubas are talented music-wise. However, I think Lagos being the entertainment capital of Nigeria contributed to the exposure of the Yorubas and their music, making it easier to be recognized. I think others too are talented enough but not being in the mainstream rob them of recognition.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: FG Orders The Recruitment Of Constables For Community Policing by Parablesonmarble: 5:25pm On Jan 26, 2020
festacman:
The RED FLAG that led to this policy move is certainly NOT fear of Amotekun but fear of what South East and South South would make of their versions of Amotekun. This new move is anticipatory, proactive, cautionary and strategic. More like a stitch in time saves nine.

The quality of the thread is so poor that this singular stitch may be too feeble to save three, talkless nine. The SE and SS guys are only calmly studying the situation while the NC is becoming more vocal. Once Amotekun sails through, they'll come in torrents with a force powerful enough to cause a quake. There are two options - kill Amotekun completely and properly redress Nigeria security situation or let Amotekun stay and enbolden other regions to try taking control of security apparatuses, and by extension, power of individual region. Organic restructuring in a veil if you asked me. The FG ought have taken Nigeria's security situation more seriously before now. Security or lack of it is a ground veritable enough to start organic disintegration of any country. Dealing nicely with bandits and kidnappers, excusing criminal herders and generally allowing the ethnic and religious undertone to criminal activities gain a foothold is always coming back to haunt Nigeria, in the long or short run.

Correct, Correcto. This kind of politics can be deep sometimes. 'I am Mallam Malami from Mali' is only the fall guy. With EU talking and U.S. travel ban lurking, it is only sensible for the North to retract their steps. To lend credence to the proscription of Ipob (absolutely unnecessary) and to prove that the mass extermination of Northern Christians is as a result of herders/farmers economic crisis and not a well organized Islamic agenda, its only logical to let local vigilante in the region stay official and in check. When the time is right, they'll find a way to try checkmating Amotekun. But for now, the whole world is watching.

Dude ... to be honest, has anything worked in Nigeria for the past 60yrs? We need to review the whole country. I have said it a million times we need to change our mentality and be disciplined. The herdsmen have been in nigeria since I was a child, why is it now they keep killing in the south/ middlebelt? Believe me it is political Just like Boko Haram before it got out of hand.

I know you don't care about England and all their fairytale problems but your point about Nigeria is what got my attention. Are you going to blame the sokoto state governor because Edo state is not developed? Is somebody in Kano going to blame the governor of Abia state because there are too many almajiries on the road? Collectively we are all suffering because of corruption, greed and bad leadership and it's making people angry and frustrated.

What makes you sure that drifting apart will help the situation. After drifting apart kidnapping becomes worse, police brutality becomes worse, armed robbery becomes worse, this tribe accuses the other tribe of cheating - what will you do now, drift again?!?!?! Just look at South Sudan who should be the richest African country now but it's from frying pan to fire because they had civil war and Uganda had to step in.

It's easy to just sit and imagine but when reality sets in it's a different story with out proper plan. Believe me Northern people are one of the most genuine people you will ever meet but it's always the bad people that make too much noise. We all need to change to make this country a better place not onley for us but for future generations.

I must admit you have a valid point. I've had this Hausa tenant I inherited from my dad for like 7 years now and there has never been any problem between us. I'm not an ethnic jingoist and i don't hate no tribe or race. I always believe that every where you go, their are good and bad people.

However, senseless killings and pervasive insecurity got me. Every person that dies is a loved one to somebody that would be missed. Every life should matter. When I look at my two kids while sleeping, I shiver at the thought of what is being experienced in Benue, Southern Kaduna and like places. It doesn't have to be this way and we must do something fast to arrest the situation. Any effort towards that direction would be appreciated but to just keep paying lip service to this thing gives me the creeps.

I must confess that in the recess of my mind, I'm afraid that Amotekun is a monster we are building now to kill of a particular problem, after that problem, wouldn't it start killing us and turn into a problem itself? However, since its a step towards stopping the pervasive insecurity, I have no choice but to support it. I just hope they create laws that guides it activities in a way it won't turn into another problem for us.

I've looked at South Sudan that came out worse off and I've looked at Eritrea that is better off. I have noticed the Europeans have thrived as nations rather as countries but i know that if America, Canada, Australia as multiracial, multicultural countries are working, Nigeria as a country too can work. We just need a change in orientation and right leadership that is desirous of it working. Unfortunately, we are down on both scores hence my view towards looking at nationhood as an option to a diverse country. I just want working solutions that are tailor-made for Nigeria's peculiar problems. Honestly, I always hope and pray that l see the Nigeria I dreamt of when I was a kid. Not this mess.

For those of you quoting me, please I'll like to refer you to the very first sentence the op made on this thread. Please if the op care less, why should I care more. I maintain, i'm more concerned about Nigeria and her problems than anything that is happening in the royal family. I carry only one passport and it's the Nigerian green passport. Anyway to make it work here is all that matters to me. Be it unity, division, restructuring, reorganization.... I just want a better life for me and future generations. Not what we are facing now.

With this type of mentality it will not stop at northern and southern Nigeria ... it will be your state and another state, then your local govt from another local govt, then your neighborhood from another, then house to house then your living room to bed room even for bedroom will be from bed to wardrobe, left pocket to right pocket. We must learn to prosper as a whole country, division is not the way forward.

Reserve your unity preaching for the marauding Fulani herdsmen and just spare me. It has not worked for sixty years and you think we don't need a review?! In your mind, this right here is working, huh? Its because its broken that we asking for a fix. You think people just develop this kind of mentality overnight? Teach us how to prosper as a nation so we can learn. I maintain, I've got absolutely no business with the reality soap happening in England. I'm more concerned about this contraption called Nigeria. Just this morning, it was reported that another problem between the natives and the Fulanis is loading in Kogi with about 3-5 valuable Nigerian lives lost already. Are we gonna go on this way without doing something to stop the rot except verbally encouraging ourselves to learn to live together while entertaining ourselves with the fiasco in the palace as a distraction from the painful reality of our existence? For me its a no-no. If drifting apart will preserve more lives than remaining united, so be it. After all, no one is indispensable and every single live matters. If you've ever lost a loved one to the pervasive insecurity in this country, I doubt you will still be mouthing unity. If you want to preach unity to me, come to me with facts and figures of what is being done and the advantages of staying united in view of the overwhelming evidences and disadvantages of staying together.

Why should I care about what happens in the Royal family versus daughter-in-law soap opera. I'm far more concerned about the mess the Royal family and the British Empire caused me by joining Northern and Southern Nigeria together in an unholy, unacceptable and a total mismatch of a marriage. When Anthony Joshua lived a world of crime, Britain never rejected him. As a matter of fact, a British judge gave Anthony Joshua a chance at a better life. When Joshua was caught with drugs, the judge told him he better chose one--prison or boxing. Joshua chose boxing.

So, you people should stop all this persecution nonsense.

There are many foreign professors in American universities. It doesn't take away their nationalities, does it?

The one thing that is important here at end of the day is which country's passport does the professor carry? If it's Nigerian passport, then he is a Nigerian. If not, he is only a Nigerian professor by name. Pronto. A.J. carries British passport, hence he is British and nobody is dragging that. The point is, if you're a failure, they trace you to the root, if not, by culture and training, you belong to them and the root country is only a poucher. Western press should stick with one. We've seen Bennett Omalu's (Will Smith) "Concussion" and we know how easily the western press can shift goal post.

I disagree about him destroying the nation's name. He brought his own name to disrepute and his illustrious career to a grinding halt. End of discussion. They trumped Anthony Joshua's name to high heavens as a Briton, never mentioning his Nigerian heritage unless the guy goes extra length to associate himself with his root. However, a university professor from Drexel..... how does that have anything to with Nigeria? Except for the name, I see no relationship. If any UNN, OAU, UI, ABU, Unilag or Uniport professor should wack a WHO grant like that, for instance, come back and talk about a Nigerian professor.
