Henry120: Again, figures have been provided. If South-Africa produces more electricity than Nigeria, it surely isn't above 5000mw.
This is an actual fact. According to available figures we produce 10X more power |

EVarn: Measuring in terms of kilowatts per hour does not account for 'lost volts'; In Nigeria's case, hundreds of kilowatts are lost during transmittion and distribution of power, while hundreds more cannot be accessed due to gas shortfall and decrease in water level{for our dams}. Therefore, measuring in b/kwh is highly inaccurate. PS: How does 257.9 b/kwh amount to 100 times of 24 b/kwh? I know mathematics isnt a south african's fort, but damn!,use a calculator!{if you know how to use one} ahhhhhhhhhhhh..... this is truly embarrassing I messed up, been a long day. My apologies, South Africa (according to the stats) only produces 10X more power |

Henry120: Citations have also been provided for mine, only household generated power isn't captured, and given our population, I estimated it between 8000- 10000mw.
You probably produce only 5000mw more power than Nigeria. This is if we aren't higher. You estimate Factually speaking, with available figures, we produce 100X more electricity than you |

Henry120: Factually speaking you don't. Probably 5000 more. 1. I posted a citation with figures 2. You have not (and are using words like "probably" We produce 100X more power than you, if you wish to dispute this then provide data to substantiate your claims. |

Henry120: Nigeria uses a much higher Poverty indicator than any country in Africa.
The report is clear, 39% of South-Africans, and 12 million of your people live in extreme poverty. South Africa's and Nigeria's internal definition of poverty is irrelevant World Bank puts our poverty figure at 9% and yours at 33% |

Henry120: It is not possible.
There are only 4 cement manufacturers in Nigeria. BUA, Larfage, Dangote and Ibeto. Well, according to wiki (well, the sources contained in the article) Nigeria is the worlds 67th biggest cement manufacturer* South Africa is the worlds 26th biggest* *Based off 2008 figures |

Henry120: It doesn't fit into your narrative, but these are the facts.
Take for example, Nigerian cement manufacturers produce 45 million metric tonnes of cement every year, while South-Africa in second place produces 25 million metric tonnes.
Do you think if the country(Nigeria) only produces 6000mw of power, it would be able to achieve that? Its possible You just have more impetus on cement production than we do |

The World Bank Tuesday said there had been positive economic trend as well as significant progress made towards poverty eradication in the country.
It said in its second edition of the Nigeria Economic Report (NER) which was launched in Abuja that going by the recent rebasing of the economy as well as analysis from the new General Household Surveys (GHS) conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) with the support of the Bank, new poverty estimates in 2010/2011 and 2012/2013 should be within the range of 35.2 per cent and 33.1 per cent respectively. Henry120: Power generation in Nigeria is divided into 3.
Government Generated power
IPP (Independent power produces)
Household generated power.
At peak periods the Government produces 6,000MW of power.
Heavy industries like Dangote, Honeywell, General Electric, Telecommunications /ICT providers, Construction companies, Automobile Assembly and spare parts manufactures, Banks& insurance firms, Ship builders and OIL & Gas industry, Cement manufacturers, large scale furniture manufactures, Electrical parts/Transfomers/electronics manufactures all etc etc all fall under Independent Power Producers. These group of people produce 15,000MW of power.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/dangote-group-honeywell-others-generate-15-000mw-captive-power/176725/
Household generated power, there are 170 million Nigerians, with 80% of all Nigerian households generating additional power for their homes and Smes. The amount of power these set of people generate is not recorded, however given their sheer size, they generate between 8000- 10,000mw of additional power. South Africa produces 100X more power than Nigeria |

On Poverty in South-Africa
South Africa: Where 12 million live in extreme poverty
Last year, the World Bank gave South Africa a good story tell. It released a report that said due to South Africa's “slightly progressive” tax system and “highly progressive” government spending, around 3.6 million people have been lifted out of poverty, halving the number of South Africans living on less than $1.25 a day. Because of grants, free basic services and taxes favouring the poor, the poverty rate dropped from 46.2% to 39%.

lezz: [s]That's the reason they are better, bigger and more significant and powerful than south Africa. Stop making excuses. Accept that Providence made you a south african, that's all you'll ever be: AVERAGE. By your GDP and demographics, you will never amount to much.
Let me paint the true picture for you:
* your economy is dying * power is dying despite huge sums in repairs * infrastructure , hospitals, education are dying * crime and corruption are on the rise * military is decaying
Nigeria's power generation has been on the steady rise having being privatised (what south Africa has been clamouring for eskom )
Our economy is moving fast leaving south africa behind as a tiny fleck of road-dirt on the track to economic superpower.
The city of khayelitsha still live with their very faeces in south Africa. FACT FACT FACT.
How pig headed and utterly hallucinating are you calling south Africa an industrialized country.[/s] Blah blah blah 1. South Africa is an NIC (nigeria is not) 2. South Africa is a member of the G20 and BRICS (nigeria is a member of exactly ZERO such organisations) 3. South Africa produces 100X more power than Nigeria 4. Your military has been in a state of decline for 16 years |

agaugust: You shocked only yourself.
Your claim about France is highly flawed, totally flawed !
Then 10 hours by SAAF is far behind 50 hours by France, and that claim about France is flawed.
France has more pilots than aircraft, they don't need all their pilots with max hours.
SAAF already has pilot shortage, plus lack of qualification. South African air force is dead. Who says france has more pilots than aircraft? Problem is SAAF does not fly 10 hours In 2013 SAAF had 18 aircrew, likely 12 pilots, thats 66 flight hours in that year... more than half of the french airforce gets Boom |

agaugust: [s]Citations prove as posted here many times this year that SAAF Gripen pilots have about 10% of standard combat training hours a year, so your pilots are proved unqualified for combat, so how will you qualify to fly beside Europeans in combat game that you are technically not qualified for? Not qualified to fly combat means you are a big accident risk mid-air.
I have substantiated and the repeated posts of flying hours back me up 100%.
Please remember to strike-through this comment because it is your habit when roundly and squarely defeated in any debate [/s] . And we have proven, over and over, that these claims are untrue - on multiple occasions I have even been as far as showing that in the 2012/13 financial year the Gripen fleet flew over 800 hours (not the 200 claimed by the media) by posting the freaking financial reports from the SANDF Not to mention that you didnt actually know what "standard" training hours were - I was the one who shocked you with the fact that over half of French pilots fly only 50 hours a year and are considered "combat ready"Your allegations have been disproven, yet you continue to make them hence I strike through them and ignore them. |

lezz: Namibia and Mozambique have been exporting power to you now. South Africa has borrowed over 85 billion rand to solve eskom woes but things are still falling apart.
If your GDP is a paltry 341 billion dollars and you claim to be an NIC, then south Africa is doomed. Your interrupted education would have been OK if you had run off to play rugby .
If you will only have stable growth like industrialized countries and you are still having a small GDP then south Africa is born to be very insignificant country. Brazil is the six world's biggest economy, China is 2nd Russia is 9th, India is 8th or so. These countries are all in the trillion dollar mark and are still outgrowing you.
You are a laughing 347 GDP and is bragging about growing growinf at the rate of NIC.
Patches, patches, how stupiid art thou. South Africa is a textbook example of a 3rd world country. 1. We produce 100X more power than you 2. We are an NIC - this is fact 3.
