Nigerians and indeed NairaLanders are thinking with their anus as usual. The allegations made by the guy in question, were they later proven to be unfounded? No? Ngo Ngo and her co ministers didn't deem it fit to set the record straight when the credibility of the Ministry headed by the Great Hon. Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy a.k.a Prime Minister, was put under scrutiny. Why did they kill the matter if the guy wasn't right in the 1st place? Ethnic agenda or not, if those people weren't qualified as the 'whistle-blower' alleged, why didn't they bring out their credentials to justify their appointments? Nigerians will keep suffering so long as they think like apes. QED 2 Likes |

Business / Re: FG Slashes Business Registration Fees By 50% by Pattey(m): 12:13pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
On January 2 this year, FG increased registration by as much as 100% for Business Names including fillings, annual return documents etc. A lot of things but not all. Incorporation was increased at about 25%. The same government is coming back ten months after; not even up to a year!, to tacitly reverse that policy. They are however NOT making reference to the previous policy because they expect Nigerians with their perceived 'short circuit memory brains' will not remember what happened before. What an insult on us! I'm sure GEJ die hard fans will say he listened to the yearnings of Nigerians. Were you the one that yearned? How many people even spoke about it? People took it as normal ish and paid the increased rates. It is a FRAUD on the Nigerian people that their government can not see a policy through for even a year! How then will the government make any sustainable growth? How will there be progress? Didn't they think it through before implementing the policy on January 2nd this year? I'll end with this: Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film. Case Study; Nigerians! If not, why do people fall for the same old rhetorics? I'm thrilled I get to register a company at a cheaper rate. At the same time, I'm sad the government doesn't seem to know what it wants to do and how to fix Nigeria decisively. If you still don't agree its a FRAUD; think again. 25-mostly 100% increment in January, and NOW 50% reduction in October. Who are they fooling? www.nairaland.com/1471305/policy-fraud-re-fg-slashes |
Politics / Falsehood and Policy FRAUD in "FG Slashes Business Registration Fees By 50%" by Pattey(m): 12:00pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
The 50% slashed on Business Registration is a FRAUD and an insult on the intelligence of Nigerians. It is a product of "half truths" because the Govt is giving with one hand and taking with the other. On January 2 this year, FG increased business registration by as much as 100% for Business Names including fillings, annual return documents etc. A lot of things but not all. Incorporation was increased at about 25%. It was 2013 new year gift! I'm thrilled I get to register a company at a cheaper rate. At the same time, I'm sad the government doesn't seem to know what it wants to do and how to fix Nigeria decisively. Even with the supposed 50% reduction, PRICES WILL NOT go down by 50%. Why? The Lawyers won't cut their profit margin in half!!! So? The cost difference of registration before this reduction is still TINY! If you still don't agree its a FRAUD; think again. 25-mostly 100% increment in January by FG, and NOW 50% reduction in October. Who are they fooling? 1 Like |

The only thing Uv achieved wit ur post is women empowerment has been achieved by PEJ because she has been an attack dog against her Husband's enemies; real or imagined. Including those she made for the poor man with her overbearing life style. & You comparing her to Jesus almost seems like blasphemy. Note; almost! Jesus resurrected once and she did it 7 times. Like seriously? This has gotta be Sarcasm! In all of this, how has attacking Soyinka and Amaechi empowered the average Nigerian woman? It has taught them to be less respectful and more confrontational. That's such a feat init? 2 Likes |

Attention: MODs I have read a couple of 'MODs please forgive Kayemjay for whatever offence he committed to get banned'. I find it very ludicrous to plead for someone to be 'unbanned' when his offence isn't made known. And whoever the MOD is hasn't thought it wise to come out with the facts. If this were unjustly done, it wouldn't be the first time the MODs on NairaLand will be irrational and I doubt its ever going to end unless a new platform is created; soon OR Seun kicks them down the bin! This reflects a bigger problem with the Nigerian society; even in the face of a likely act of un-thoughtfulness by a MOD, my people are pleading WHEN they should be demanding answers. Yes, demanding! Btw; it saddening my 1st comment on this wonderful story is to express disgust @ how Nigerians fail to adjust their mentality and ask the right questions. So, I'll still do what I ought to; Kudos K! And I hope this banning incident doesn't demoralize you. . . 4 Likes 2 Shares |

stebell: @ OP, yu caption dis story as wicked. I wanna ask yu aint yu tired of using 2nd hand goods like shoes, clothes, cars etc. I wanna believe yu still use 2nd hand electronics. I think the important question is; can Nigerians afford brand new vehicles? Yes? How many then? Do you think people are happy using second-hand things? Who does not desire good things? See, if people can afford to buy new cars, the government wouldn't have to make any policy to that effect (of stopping importation of used cars), the importers will be the ones to stop bringing in 'Tokunbo'. Why? Cos demand would have reduced. Until we get there, the government should be reasonable with this. 1 Like |

Politics / Suspect Swallows Police ID Card To Evade Arrest In Lagos by Pattey(m): 9:43pm On Oct 03, 2013 |
The Lagos Police Command Headquarters Ikeja has detained a 27-year old man identified as Ben Okon for allegedly claiming to be attached to Mopol 20. The suspect reportedly took to his heels upon sighting a police patrol team, chewed and swallowed a police identity card in his possession. Okon, who was dressed in police uniform claimed to be a police corporal attached to Mopol 20, Lagos. He confessed during interrogation to have found the police insignia and the corporal rank at a drinking joint in Agege area of the state and decided to attach it to his Man ‘O’ War uniform. “I had never robbed with it. I only used it when I enter any commercial bus to avoid paying transport fee,” he said. The suspect further confessed that the police rank and other items found on him fell out of the pockets of a policeman who came to drink in a bar. “All the content that fell from the policeman’s pocket was contained in a small polythene bag. At first I thought it contained money, but when I opened it after its owner had left, I discovered that it contained police properties,” he said. The Lagos Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police Damasus Ozoani, while parading the suspect before newsmen, said he provided conflicting statements regarding his identity. However, he said that the suspect would soon be charged to court. Culled from Information Nigeria's website End Note: In case the MODs are working, they may want to create AN ACTUAL Section for crimes. If its existing, move it there mbok. |

0monnakoda: You are the one who is lazy and unthinking. Nigeria cannot afford? $7 Billion over what period 1 week ,1 month? I would rather not have fuel subsidy than the rubbish our Universities churn out much of which is on display on Nairaland. Nigerians spend billions on private universities and foreign ones too. We need to have a debate about HOW university education is funded. Going forward it probably should not be free and students need to pay more realistic fees.Government should decide to privatize many if not all the universities. Apart from corruption there is a lot of waste in our government eg Presidential jets ,Aso rock Feeding budget etc. I'm interested in the last part of ur comment; "I still argue students should pay tuition, and standards shoud be raised so our Universities can be competitive and PROFITABLE." Going by what you've written and the amount of 'likes' it got, I suppose it means Nigerians are ready to pay more for University education. Is that it? How many people really want to pay more than the 25000 naira (thereabout) they presently pay as tuition? If students are ready for @ least 100% increment in tuition, then let the strike be called off. If not y'all shouldn't comment Un-intelligently until you can show us those accounts where FG has 'un-budgeted' excess cash that can be used to satisfy ASUU at a stretch! |
