Christianity EtcRe: Shiloh 2020: The Too Many Blunders Of Bishop Oyedepo (A Must Read) by paxonel(m): 2:41pm On Dec 13, 2020
DamZik:
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

In the above scriptures, the people Jesus was talking about here are not unbelievers but believers, not even new converts but those who have grew spiritually to the level of performing miracles, signs and wonders in the name of Jesus but their gifts of prophecy, deliverance and all will not qualify them for Heaven because they are workers of iniquity. They have initial salvation because they Accept Jesus, Believe Jesus and Confess Jesus (ABC) but they don't have final salvation because they won't make it to heaven.

That is condemnation at a point of no repentance. That will not be my portion and your portion in Jesus name. What is the biblical meaning of iniquities? According to Webster's dictionary, the word iniquity means gross injustice, wickedness or sin. ... The Bible says that through one man, Adam, sin entered the world. The definition of an iniquity is a sin or wrong doing. An example of an iniquity is someone running into another person with their car on purpose. Denial of the sovereignty of God. Lack of righteousness or justice; wickedness.
my wish is that someday Nigerian Christians will learn how to read and understand scriptures more accurately, then they will understand the damage these pastors are doing to their psyche trying to cause distinction and separation among believers of Christ in their churches.

If this is what is the concept of initial and final salvation you mean, then the concept does not correlate with the state of this current day Christian who was born and brought up in Christianity today.

Why?
Because the disciples in Matthew 7:21-22 you made reference to though were believers, but they were never saved or being Christians(that means they did not practice Christianity neither where they baptised with the holy ghost into God's kingdom) until Jesus died and resurrected, While today Christians are already in the kingdom of God by virture of Christ's resurrection 2000 years ago, and their salvation is final(once and for all, nothing like initial) because at Jesus death he said IT IS FINISH. Meaning, he has brought the kingdom of God down on earth through his death and resurrection.

That's why i asked you the question initially WHAT IS GOD'S KINGDOM ON THIS EARTH?
And you rightly answered that is for you to accept Jesus.

These people have accepted Jesus and it is showing by their action of coming to church, yet your pastors are not satisfied. They want to win souls that are already in the kingdom by making alter calls.
The people self they don't even know that they are already saved. Out of ignorance they keep responding to such alter calls grin

It is well o!

please tell me about it, back up what you are saying with scriptures
I like the fact that you do not want to accept everything thrown at you hook, line and sinker. I was like you too and that's what push me into acquiring knowledge in Bible School. My advice is that because you are inquisitive and independent in thinking, please seek for more knowledge. Knowledge is power.
thanks for the advice.
But i still need you to tell me about the concept of initial and final salvation

Thanks for your understanding. The reason why Pastors keep calling alter calls is because of:
i. The church might have first timers who are not yet saved. This is common in big churches where Pastors don't know everybody.
ii. Some people are already in the church but are not yet saved. They are in Church but not in Christ. Even those who were born in mission houses may not know salvation due to over familiarity.
iii. It's possible for those who were already saved to deviate away from salvation because of worldly distractions so they will use the opportunity to reconnect and rededicate their lives back to God.
I used to think like this before until one day i read the bible and saw the truth.
Now, let's put this straight.
Do you know what it means to be saved?
It means you have believed in Christ or have Faith in Christ

John 3:16 says... Whosever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

That's all, just to believe.

Is it really possible that someone who was born and brought up to believe from childhood who is still in the faith and has been going to church from childhood yet not saved?

I don't think that is possible, I have never seen anything like that among the early Christians in the bible or do you have any scripture indicating that a Christian was yet to be saved for any reason, except the individual deviate from the faith like, leaving the Christian faith to start believing in religions other than Christianity?

And when that happens, you will never see that person going to church anymore. Meaning, everyone you see all the time in church do so simply because they believe irrespective of whether they are sinners or not.
The same people your pastors are making alter call from, is that not aberration?

God's kingdom on Earth is for you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour so that you can escape eternal damnation. So that you can inherit eternal life with God.
you are very right!
That means your pastor had thought you this truth.!
But after knowing this truth why is it that your pastors keep calling alter call in church among fellow Christians who are in this same kingdom, do they suddenly ignore that these people have believed in Christ already and that they are already saved?
Also, why are your pastors keep telling people that one mysterious event called rapture is coming in the future after knowing that these people are in God's kingdom already?

I am sorry for the negative headline. It is because I know many people will not bother to open this thread if it was a POSITIVE headline. This message is for the generation of social media who have turned themselves Reactants and Reactors at the expense of their destiny.

It seems Nigerian youths has lost it. I can't imagine that people could go to Canaan Land, Ota or stay glue to listen to or watch Bishop Oyedepo just because they want to pick his words, twist it, then come to social media and make a mockery of this great and gentle man of God. These "lazy yoots" (according to Mr President), known as zombies and wailers derive joy in ridiculing great men of God but they fight to finish to defend world's most corrupt politicians.

We need to know in this country that Christianity in Nigeria is not our problem but our solution. Pastors are not our problem in Nigeria. The fantastically corrupt politicians who continue to plunder the wealth of our nation in guise of fighting oporruption are our real problem and unless we understand this, we will never know the solution. Enough is enough!

In conclusion, I want to enjoy Nigerian youths to shun folly and embrace wisdom. Instead of choosing to criticising pastors (who are many times greater than your generation) as your hobby, why not learn their secrets and enjoy Heaven on Earth like them? You don't need to be a preacher to enjoy what they are enjoying from God as everybody cannot become a preacher at once. A word is enough for the wise!
op, simple question!
What's God's kingdom on this earth?

If you do not have accurate answer to that question then your pastor need to be criticized for collecting money from you without informing you the truth.

Am a Christian but some times some verses from the Bible when u read with brain contradict some other verse

The story of creation in Genesis made us understand that God created heaven and earth and every thing in it under 6 days

But this verse 2 Peter 3:8
Said that a thousand years is like a day to God and a day is like a thousand years

With this verse and normal working brain and a calculator does it mean that it took God 6000years to create heaven and earth ?
anyhow you want to calculate it, the truth is what you have observed that a thousand years is like one day before God and that 6 days of creation might be 6000 years or more. Meaning, Evolution and is real
Christianity EtcRe: Those Saying Pastors Are Stealing Risk God’s Wrath— Oyedepo by paxonel(m): 6:24am On Dec 12, 2020
Nellyfrancis157:
The President of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said he stopped receiving salary from the Church many years ago, warning that the people saying men of god are stealing from the Church were at risk of God’s wrath.

Bishop Oyedepo, who preached at the “Encounter Night” at ongoing Shiloh 2020, said: “The blessings of the Lord maketh rich and add no sorrow with. There is a difference between the blessings of the Lord and the blessings of the effort of man.

“Those saying these people are stealing will just rain curse of the Lord on themselves. Prosperity is not on what you are given, but in what you give.”

Oyedepo preached on ‘Unveiling the Turnaround Wonders of the Altar of Sacrifice’, stating that his home is like a hotel.

“I have always had people living with me even when I was living in one room apartment.

“The last time I counted I had about 22 people working for me. I didn’t bring a dime into ministry. God is too big to be helped.

“Men are not the builders of Churches, God said he will build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail.

“I still sleep like a baby. I never asked God to enrich me, I only suçceeded in passing the test of sacrifice. Every child of God that works genuinely in the convenant have a great future.

“Many years ago, I told God if you ever bless me, I will build churches,” Oyedepo added.

As John the apostle tries to explain even there in Chapter 1 for you to understand, everyone who believes has the power to become sons of God, but the same John goes on to explain in later chapters that not everyone who believes will eventually become a son of God. This is the message explained in Chapter after Chapter of the Gospel of John to you and all those who will listen and hear the truth of Jesus Christ.

Each of the Gospels is meant to be read in its entirety, not in pieces with conclusions drawn from partial readings, so one can have a better grasp of the message intended by the writer.

You also neglect the fact that at the time Jesus made this statement there was no Christianity, how then was he referring to Christians?

Learn to comprehend first before reacting or responding. There are people who attend church regularly, the fact that they attend church regularly those not make them Christians if their way of life falls short of Jesus Christ standard.
do you have any scripture to support this notion of yours?

Contrary to your statement, the bible teaches in

John 3:16 ...whosever believeth should not perish but have everlasting life

What if the person going to church has believed have you ever thought of that?

Because as far as the bible is concern unbelievers are those who do not believe in Christ, example Muslims.
That's why i asked the question have you ever seen a Muslim in church before?

Christianity EtcSchool's Christian Religious Education And Church Doctrines Which Is Better? by paxonel(op): 7:50pm On Nov 11, 2020
The pattern of teaching the bible in churches no doubt constitute church doctrines some of which are geared towards giving church members false hope of prosperity and freedom from poverty. For instance, all pastors on pulpit quoting scriptures are not interested in you church members knowing the nitty gritty, the comprehensive understanding of what the scripture is all about, but their aim are always to let you know that if God could do all those great miracles in the bible, certainly he will free you from poverty, shame miraculously.
Now, that is what is call a false gospel.

Below is a screen shot of a CRK curriculum thought in schools. You can see how the content of the bible is arranged and every topic of the lesson are no doubt exactly what is in the bible.
No false hope prosperity,
No rapture of the saints(another confused fictional doctrine thought in church)
No personification of bible characters(For instance : saying the blessings of Abraham are mine)

All lessons are for knowledge
Understanding
Knowledge
Understanding
Knowledge
Understanding.

Note : there might be fallacies in CRK teachings in schools but it is clear that those fallacies are not well pronounced, frequent compared to church doctrines.

The question now is : What CRK is offering to the society by teaching children and what the church is doing on pulpit, which is better?
