Growing up as Christians our parent used to order us "get me the word of God on that table " so, we will run to get the bible on the table for them because we were groomed to believe that, that whole big book is the word of God.

Now we are grown up, we do not think like children anymore and we have come to understand that the word of God was specific for every generation mentioned in the bible : meaning, the word of God is also specific for us in this generation.
This also implies that apart from God's commandments what used to be the word of God for Abraham and Moses and their generation that we read in the bible can never be word of God for us today in this generation.
For instance, God asked Abraham to remove his shoes at the event of the burning bush. That does not imply that God is asking us today to remove our shoes whenever we step into the church or walk bare footed with white garment on the street.
Or there was a scripture we read that some people were commanded not to put on what garments belonging to the opposite sex, then we now take that for a doctrine today, commanding female church members that it is a sin to wear trouser.

Or God commanded the children of Israel to pay tithe, we now take that for a doctrine today, that is a clear backwardness.

So, the word of God can be dynamic, it changes with time. It is never rigid to a particular conservative belief system, rather it is flexible to accomodate the beliefs of even the lukewarm and the liberal believers.

Every scripture that was written were written at a particular era and these periods comes with their different trends of things.
Religion has the tendency to maintain old unnecessary beliefs which may not apply to our today world, therefore there is need for us to scrutinize scriptures before taking them as the word of God to us this generation, otherwise, we are short off from the standard of God who is dynamic and intelligent and begins to loose essence as christians this modern day.

Well the statistics should tell. From 1990 when I gave my life to Christ newly till 2009, my average monthly earning never exceeded N10,000 at the peak! That is a periodi of twenty years and man I have become old already, passed the age of useful employment.

When I started tithing in 2010, I was giving exactly N800/month and by 2015 when I left Nigeria, I was sowing N35,000/month as tithing. And that was a period of 5 years! By your surmise maybe this was a good coincidence or I have simply become lucky while tithing when I was over 40 years old?! I like this luck then...

Now I am in Europe. Under 5 years I got my Bachelor degree also and now I am doing my Master degree. When I asked GOD why this was happening while tithing, He told me... HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT TITHING IS NOT INTENDED TO MAKE YOU RICH? RATHER IT IS INTENDED TO MAKE YOU BLESSED. I HAVE BLESSED YOU FINANCIALLY, MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, ACADEMICALLY, HEALTH WISE, AND EVEN MATERIALLY. WITHIN 5 YEARS YOU HAVE ACHIEVED ALL YOUR DREAMS, BOUGHT LAND, RENTED A BIG APARTMENT, GOTTEN A DEGREE, AMASSED WEALTH AND TRAVELLED TO BASE ABROAD IN ITALY.

So, salvation isn't personal effort of keeping the law like people will say salvation is personal.
Salvation is personal when the person decides or not to join the faith by believing in Christ Jesus.

Revelation 20:15 says And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Meaning, whosoever was not found among the group of people believing in Christ, was cast into the lake for fire.

We established the law.
But that does not mean we are ruled by the law when it comes to justification into eternal life.
The law says don't steal but when a christian steals he will be purnished for his action by the law here on this earth. But when it comes to justification into eternal life through Christ it's another thing entirely, a spiritual thing.
At that point, the law cannot judge him anymore.
The law becomes powerless,
The man is justified like some who didn't commit any crime.

So why is it forbidden to break the law?
It is to avoid the punishment that comes with it and not to avoid losing salvation.

As it is observed, the general African traditional value system centres on giving and taking in return, unlike most modern westerners whose value centre on giving and never expecting anything in return.
This is a true fact observed by the westerners themselves among African immigrants.

This explains why our politicians in Africa will invest so much in their political campaigns with the aim of getting 10 times the amount they spend by the time they are elected, and nothing has been done to curb the trend because it is the value of the people.

This also explains why churches in Africa keep preach repentance as a means to get salvation because they think that Jesus Christ shares the same value of giving and taking , that when you give your repentance that is the condition of getting salvation(against the teaching of grace). Some Christian folks are still perhaps unconsciously holding this erroneous belief inspite their education.

This explains why the African society is structured into a huge gap between the rich and the poor, such that if there is no connection to the rich, the poor will have little hope of getting that aspired job even when they are qualified for it.
It is the value of the people, their belief system, they always attach condition to everything they do.

In this modern day Christians should better live the life of Christ practicing what they preach rather than doing preaching and making noise everywhere.

People who want their souls to be won want to see the life you live rather than hearing your preaching.

Anyway educational knowledge is not needed in understanding the scripture, Holy-Spirit is exactly what is needed to understand what is written and have a deeper knowledge in the scriptures. we have thousands of people you will call illiterate and yet they are doing fine in the faith.

they might have little understanding of the scriptures based on intuition, but they can never understand it from the basics as a result, they are constantly exploited by fellow Christians who know better.

Educated or non educated we are all saved so long we believe in Christ, but if you are not educated there is tendency that you will be mislead by wrong beliefs inspite that you are saved.

And for your broader understanding, repentance starts immediately at that moment you realize what you have been doing is wrong and take a decision not to do it again.

that is only when one has the opportunity to live again and actualize the decision,but if the person dies immediately after proclaiming that he has repented, his proclamation is of no use because he died not live to actualize what he has proclaimed.

The scripture didn't say he that repent or he that does not repent ,rather it maintained that he that believe or he that does not believe.
