Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Matthew 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Let me identifying some core values of the African tradition which are antagonistic to the 10 commandments(commandments of Love) which are still inculcated to children growing up in Africa by their parents and their religious leaders in all churches and mosques in Africa, which have indirectly plunge Africa(Nigeria as a nation) into the current level of moral decadence we are experiencing in our nation today among our youths and our political elites. Now, not all African traditional beliefs and values are bad. We have good values such as the way we relate to one another, our traditional dressing codes, our music and dances, The various kind of food in our cultures, the way we show respect to our elders by prostrating before them etc. All these are good traditional values that should be sustained. But the ones that are antagonistic to Love and the 10 commandments of God like i said, has to do with this two: 1. Superstitious beliefs : Africans are so superstitious(perhaps, out of fear of the unknown) that they now practice their superstition in churches and mosques. When you hear Christians casting and binding demons and witchcrafts or sowing financial seed or tithe to pastors rather than going out there to work for their fortune they are just simply being superstitious. 2. Unnecessary regards to superiors: This traditional value is very common among the Yorubas and Hausas(Muslims in particular) I'm not against the youths showing repects and regards to their leaders or parents at home, ofcourse that is paramount to their success in life, but when the leader is taking undue advantage of his position and infringe on the rights of his subordinates or his children at home or the people of the constituency he is representing at the state or national level, or the church or mosque he is leading, then it becomes something unfortunate and sympathetic that requires the people to fight for their emancipation. In Africa, cases where parents are infringing on the rights of their children at home still exist, or the man shifting the responsibility of taking care of the children to the woman saying I'm the man of house, or pastors threatening church members of hell fire if they do not comply to their financial requests Or some Imam fundermentalists assuming the mouth piece of Allah, compelling the ignorant innocent people to be sympathetic to their course of killing Christians and even Muslims who do not share their beliefs. or politians not being accountable to the people saying i owe no one explanation. How long shall we continue to suffer under them in silence without speaking out atleast? Today, we are celebrating democracy day and i believe it is time for the youths to reflect on the type of life we are living, whether we are living it democratically at all levels or we prefer being autocratic, not giving explanation to what we do to our subordinates, because certainly, some of us will find ourselves up there someday leading the country. If we eventually do, are we going to continue with these corrupt fundermentals we were brought up with in the name of tradition and religion? Ofcourse, we have the option to make amendments to our values and belief systems it is never too late. lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
OLAADEGBU:I was born into a christian home |
OLAADEGBU:it simply means to follow Christ and be his disciple going by the parable he gave Nicodemus " the wind bloweth where it listed, thou knoweth not were it is cometh from and where it goeth... " If you can interprete parables. I'm a christian not an atheist. An athiest will not have the interest to know what born again means |
annyplenty:this is exactly why you were called fanatic and you are truly one, I have been telling you this. First of all, You don't speak or issue out warning unbehalf of God like boko haram. Secondly, you used the phrase children of God as if those who will choose to stay way from church service and watch matches are not children of God Thirdly, you fail to realize that what makes one a christian is not regular church attendance. And lastly, you think every christian should make church going their first priority over other things like watching football ignoring the fact that everyone are different. That is not fair. You can't force people to do what you do by issuing out warning because there is no way they can be like you. Don't tell me it was a revelation or dream. Revelation or dreams from God are never geared to render people into some kinda a religious lifestyle that makes them to put religious activities their first priority over fun and pleasures. |
MuttleyLaff:exactly |
Topccy007:it is true because there are no scriptures saying that Christians should not enjoy entertainment. Where did pastors get that from i don't know? |
gentlegenius:perhaps they were so busy ![]() |
MuttleyLaff:the subject section has been removed and even the op is sealed, i can't modify anything again |
Gullah:op, there was absolutely nothing nothing wrong bringing any kind of entertainment(so long it is moderated) to any gathering of christians. It is church leaders that created the rule that secular entertainment should be restricted from church gathering not God. Any church in the same vain have the right to revert this rule and invite secular entertainers, there is nothing bad about it |
Topccy007:this is a belief created by pastors, not God |
MuttleyLaff:thanks bro! I have seen it. But i cannot modify it again because the thread is already in front page. |
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is now left with 29 players from which to select his team for the 2018 World Cup, after Moses Simon was ruled out of the tournament as a result of an injury. Simon, who plays for Belgian Jupiler League side, Gent, will not feature in Monday’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, nor the subsequent game against England on June 2. Rohr confirmed the development to Premium Times in Port Harcourt. “It is unfortunate Moses Simon will not be travelling with the team on Tuesday because he is down with an injury. “The nature of his injury is such that he won’t be recovering quickly enough to make the World Cup,” Rohr said. Meanwhile, the German coach will drop four more players from the squad after the game against DR Congo. |
gentlegenius:how do i correct it sir? I have tried but i don't know how |
pryme:exactly! They also blame them on witches and wizards which really do not exist . Where as, they are the ones who failed to develop themselves ![]() |
geoworldedu:no! He was expecting resurrection, not rapture. Rapture is not mentioned anywhere in the bible, but rather, what is there is resurrection of the dead |
vaxx:the same thing applies! Your whatever religion and christianity are not in the same field so i dont need to discuss bible with you because it will never make sense to you. Even christians are confused when it comes to bible how much morè non christian like you. but footballer of different clubs are in the same profession.if your religion and christianity were of the same profession(meaning, your religion is christianity) then we can talk from there. Let me enlightened you about rapture. My text is taken from Wikipedia. In case you need further reading.good for you. We make reference to bible to get our doctrines not wikipedia. Therefore it is a primitive act to indoctrinate a person of another religion different from yours by not using his own holy book but your own(wikipedia) . By the way, guess how your wikipedia defined rapture? Google it. Rapture definition from wikipedia The rapture is an eschatological term used by certain Christians(perhaps primitive christians, not all) particularly within branches of American evangelicalism, referring to PURPORTED end time event... Mark the word PURPORTED Purported means it is said to be true or real but definitely not true or real. |
gabrielahamz:thanks |
evesdon4u:to was a typing error. Thanks for the correction ![]() |
hamer:thats a lie! God will never break his rules. All your calculations must be right or you fail worefully |
Solstar: ![]() Try your luck |
duality:you cannot impose your african traditional beliefs on people ok. Come out with scriptures and prove that fervent prayer saves thats what we need Saves from what? You did not specify, because you are not of what you are saying. When christ thought his disciples how to pray he made simple short 1 minute prayer and straight to the point. Must you keep killing yourself ![]() |
proverbs 22:6 King James Version (KJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it Many christians are suffering today because they simply lack knowledge owing to the fact they were either not sent to school by their parents or they did not learn trade or some kinda vocationals. Many other christians who were sent to school or some informal education also have attitudinal problems because of poor parenting issues. Now, if you are a christian and you have these problems mentioned above, know that there is absolutely nothing the blood of Jesus can do to help you. If you are the type that attends fire fire churches like mountain of fire, mountain of liberty or liberation city, redeem christian church of God, die by Some of these christians never had parent to be with them when they were growing up or they were brought up in a polygamous condition were there are several other siblings to cater for with little or no resources available, yet they want prayer to do miracle. ![]() Every problem you are going through in life originates from the way you were brought up by your parents To this effect, there is need for proper parenting. We are celebrating childrens day today, i pray that God should open our eyes and give us the insight to stand by our children and give them the proper up bringing they deserve . Amen |
Kenneth4u205:rubbish excuses! If you are that emotional not everyone are like that |
darol4real:mumu talk, How champions league final affect souls negatively? Is it not fun to watch football finals again whats your problem? |
Rubbish mumu post |
vaxx:it does not follow like that! You have to be in the same technical department with a colleage who is trying to explain to you some technical faults in machines operated by your company for you as a casheer to understand what he is saying . Finance department and technical department are not the same. And a medical student may not understand some technical terms law students are used to, unless he start practicing law himself . Technically, the word rapture do not appear in the bible, christians are reading somėthing else in the bible and they misunderstood them to be rapture because the developers of the rapture doctrine did the same mistäke teaching people to do the same. the doctrine was developed some cenuries ago by some primitive christiáns and it is still widely accepted till now does not mean that the doctrine is true. You are not a christian forget it. Only christians who read their bible will understand ![]() |
vaxx:let a christian speak ![]() You that is not a christian what do you know in the bible? You better face your religion o |
geoworldedu:there is nothing like rapture mr man. Real christians dont believe in that ,only primitive african christians do |
Yusuf54:in that case, islam was founded by the chief imam of one mosque in sokoto |
Looking at the time frame, Christianity is a religion established by christ after he resurrected. Jesus met nicodemus and told him you must be born again(something today Christians are yet to understand). that was before he was crucified, at that time there was nothing like Christianity. Then how come this born again is now associated with Christianity? The truth is, this born again concept is not feasible because everyone on earth commit sin ( 1 john 1:8 ) So, there is nothing like born again Rather we are all Christians |
BloggersNG:op, this is not a uniben student you know why? She does not have a facebook account associated with that name. Lets assume she has a fb account with other names the chance is 0 A uniben lecturer without fb account is not possible talkless of a student. Even if there are students who deliberately(reasons best known to them) chooses not to operate a fb account the percentage is 0.002% of the entire uniben student population and picking one of them to be this lady you just presented here is practically impossible. So channel your propaganda towards some other institution and not uniben ok |
