BlueRayDick: What befell Apapa awaits Lekki if the Lagos state government and or federal government does not work on expanding the road to and from lekki soonest.
Having heavy duty trucks laden with 40ft containers joining the already traffic saturated lekki axis will be hell for commuters .
I pity bankers and other companies top execs who took mortgage to buy apartment in Lekki axis sha . They will continue to service the mortgage and later go rent house closer to work . Yes, that's a valid concern. But the Lekki masterplan should envisage all of your concerns as the roads should be widened and more roads will also be built. |

Foreign Affairs › US Midterms: 20.7 Million Votes Already Cast In Early Voting by PDPGuy(op): 4:21pm On Oct 31, 2022 |
**435 US House of Reps seats 35 US Senate seats 36 state gubernatorial seats State legislative seats State-wide office seats (ie State AG, Treasurer etc, and 1000s of local races and proposed legislation are all on the ballot on November 8** More than 20.7 million pre-election ballots have been cast in 46 states as of Sunday, according to data from election officials, Edison Research and Catalist.
Three states have now crossed the 2 million ballot threshold. More than 2.8 million ballots have been cast in Texas, while more than 2.6 million have been cast in Florida and more than 2.1 million in California. Florida counties were required to start early in-person voting by Saturday.
More than 1.6 million ballots have been cast in Georgia, and North Carolina has become the fifth state with more than 1 million ballots cast.
Some voter data comes from Catalist, a company that provides data, analytics and other services to Democrats, academics and nonprofit issue-advocacy organizations and is giving insights into who is voting before November.
Georgia is home to several competitive statewide races this year, including for governor -- with GOP incumbent Brian Kemp facing a rematch from four years ago against Democrat Stacey Abrams -- and for Senate -- where Republican Herschel Walker is challenging Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in a contest that could decide control of the chamber next year.
In North Carolina, the election for the state's open Senate seat features a high-profile contest between Democrat Cheri Beasley, who would become the state's first Black senator if elected, and GOP Rep. Ted Budd, who has the support of former President Donald Trump.
Beasley told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union" on Sunday that her state needed a senator "who's going to fight hard to lower costs" but avoided a question over whether she was satisfied with how President Joe Biden and national Democrats have handled inflation. She also vowed to fight for abortion rights, which she called a "real big issue" in her campaign against Budd.
In Florida, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is favored to win a second term amid talk of a potential 2024 presidential bid and a showdown with Trump. GOP Sen. Marco Rubio is also on the November ballot as he seeks a third term against Democratic Rep. Val Demings. https://www.kcra.com/article/more-than-20-million-pre-election-ballots-cast-ahead-of-2022-midterms/41817193# |

^^ Indeed, the 2 million+ invalid registrations may be a deciding factor in both Feb and March contests; because within the last 7 years, some gubernatorial races were decided by 100k or fewer votes, whilst the 2015 presidential election was decided by 3 million votes.. |

Politics › Concession: FG Announces Preferred Bidders For Abuja, Lagos, Kano Airports by PDPGuy(op): 11:40pm On Oct 26, 2022 |
THE Federal Government, FG, on Wednesday, announced the emergence of preferred and reserve bidders for three out of four Airport and Cargo Terminals as approved for concession after the Request for Proposals, RFP, phase of the Nigeria Airports Concession Programme, NACP.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, while addressing press men during a press briefing, in Abuja, said the concession came after a multistage process, adding that it was not the final outcome of the NACP programme.
Sirika, however, disclosed that corporacion America Airports Consortium emerged double bidder for the concession program for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano, respectively.
He said that as for the fourth airport asset, the ministry is still in consultation with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, ICRC, to decide on the way forward.
He said: “The Request for Proposals (RFP) phase of the Nigeria Airports Concession Programme (NACP), which came to a close on the 19” of September 2022 has seen the emergence of preferred and reserve bidders for three (3) out of four (4) Airports and Cargo Terminals as approved for concession under the programme. [b]“The preferred bidder for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, is Corporacion America Airports Consortium. ENL Consortium has also been selected as the reserve bidder for NAIA.”
He further disclosed that “The preferred bidder for Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, is TAV/NAHCO/PROJECT PLANET LIMITED(PPL) Consortium. Sifax/Changi Consortium has also been selected as the reserve bidder for MMIA.
The preferred bidder for Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, is Corporacion America Airports Consortium. There are no reserve bidders for MAKIA as at the time of this announcement.
“Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), Port Harcourt, did not receive any proposals as of the RFP deadline close and as such has not had preferred and reserve bidders attached to it”, he added. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/10/concession-fg-announces-preferred-bidders-for-abuja-lagos-kano-airports/

raumdeuter: Republicans have DeSantis who can easily replace Trump or even Glen Youngkin
Who are the younger rising stars of the Democratic party with National appeal that are seen as moderates and not far left loonies That is a crucial question because the likes of Gov Newsome of CA, AOC, Kamala Harris are not as popular outside their home states, and as you said, are generally regarded as uber liberal. So, I'm not sure whether the aforementioned names could win a national election without running alongside a moderate politician. Its the same reason why, despite her popularity within the Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi has never contemplated running for President. Nonetheless, Governor Whitmer may be the closest Democratic rising star to run as a moderate, especially when you consider the fact that she has been governor of a swing state - Michigan - for over 3 years, and is basically coasting to re-election this year, in spite of the massive criticisms that greeted her COVID-related decrees. |

raumdeuter: I hope he doesn't run again. He has significant baggage and would destroy the party in the primaries
DeSantis for President. After he crushes Charlie Crist in the race for governor Yeah. I share the same sentiments. Trump running again risks creating a perception that the Republican party is his personal property. Likewise, Biden should give way for a younger politician for the 2024 Democratic primaries. After all, he has been in politics for over 50 years. |
