Group F- France, Jamaica, Brazil, Group C playoff winner |
Group A - New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Switzerland. |
New Zealand v Norway - opening match of 2023 WC |
The Women’s World Cup draw has been glittering |
BascoVanVeli: ![]() Her mum would be happy that Nigerian won tho ![]() |
dkay51:Lol. If I weren’t Nigerian, I would have agreed with him on the VAR call for the 1st half penalty. There was nothing really malicious in that tackle. If anything, the Bello’s toe was barely on the 18 yard box line. But hey, I will take any advantage the refs give us ![]() |
Onyeka Gamero could be a future key asset for the Super Falcons. I was impressed with her close control, dribbling and decision-making at this tournament. Herself and Vicky Lopez will pose a lot of problems for opposing defenses |
TheSuperNerd:And I think that would be the first time that two African countries would be facing each other in a FIFA women’s tournament |
raumdeuter:I’m with you on this! |
timay1:Don’t mind those woke folks. I cannot see a reason why FIFA can’t go in the same direction as both FIBA and the international volleyball federation that both reduced the weight and circumference of their balls. Even in volleyball, the net is a little lower in the women’s game. For women’s football, I’ll propose reducing the weight of the ball by about 6 pounds, and reducing the circumference of the ball. The height of the goalposts can be reduced by 6inches as well. |
mostob:Yes, she didn’t live up to expectations today. But, as you said, it may have been the coach’s instruction for her to remain upfield in case a loose ball from our box reached her. |
This match was the exact opposite of the U-20 semifinal between Nigeria and the USA in 2012. In that game, the Falconets dominated play in terms of attacking moves, possession, and attempts on goal. But the Americans won 2-0. Essentially, Naija did the playing while the US did the scoring ![]() I’m happy our U-17 girls finally got luck on their side after narrowly missing out on semifinal spots in 2010 and 2012. Speaking of the 2012 team, I believe they are the best women’s U-17 side that Nigeria has ever produced. That team had excellent individual players, and good cohesion on the pitch. |
dkay51:Wow That’s an impressive stat. In other words, they allowed one shot on target every 67 minutes. Insane!! |
Instead of passing to an open player, Edafe prefers to try to dribble out of a tight spot ![]() Man, we have a long way to go in instilling basic footie intelligence in most of our players |
AkinDS:Ok |
The US coach has done her homework well- she must have noticed that our players love shooting from outside the box, so anytime Ajakaye or Bello want to shoot, a US player is always on hand to block those shots |
AkinDS:That’s because the coach has reverting to the annoying long-ball tactic. I also don’t know why most of the players are having issues with controlling ball. |
Fweshest3:Hesgoaldotcom |
USA 0-1 Nigeria Edafe converts the penalty |
The match has started |
AndSunGorilla:Match is still being delayed |
We need more projects like this |
Wow!

I can’t believe it’s 30 days to the World Cup |
raumdeuter:I think every country should have the right to host it. But they still have to work within the established football calendar. So, that’s why I wasn’t entirely sure why FIFA went ahead to move the WC to Nov/Dec when Qatar had already demonstrated that they could construct air-conditioned stadia with retractable roofs. I know the energy consumption of such stadia would have been enormous, but Qatar, as one of the top 4 richest countries in the world, wouldn’t have had a problem with powering such stadia for a 30-day tournament. |
I feel that the fear of missing the WC due to the injury is that reason why some supposed top players are putting in average shifts these days. I mean, which what has happen to RJ, Kante, and Jota, every player from now till early November would not want to take unnecessary risks on the pitch. This, in turn, will make some leagues (especially the PL) unpredictable as to who would end up winning or finishing in the UEFA places. In the end, we will have to blame FIFA’s EXCO masterclass in awarding the WC hosting rights to a country whose average summer temperatures are between 110-120F ![]() |
Reminder: The FIFA Women's World Cup draw comes up on October 22 at 7:30am Nigerian time |

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that the establishment of a National Carrier for Nigeria is at 91 per cent completion, and is expected to commence flight operations before the end of this year.https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/560082-buhari-at-ministerial-performance-retreat-says-nigeria-air-to-take-off-in-december.html

Although I don't support Tinubu, I'll give him credit for one thing: he never cross carpeted to another party even when PDP's hurricane blew out the then AD in the SW in 2003. I can bet that most politicians in his shoes, as of then, would have been tempted to defect to the PDP, but he stood his ground. Atiku isn't taken seriously when he only spends a significant amount of time in Nigeria during presidential election campaigns, and has moved from the PDP to the AC, back to PDP, then PDP to APC, and now back to PDP (albeit since 2018) ![]() |
hatakekakashi:Not too surprised cos, after all, she is a teenager who is still learning the ropes of the game. But I expect the keeper to tell her to pass the ball when the keeper knows it is safe to do so. |
USA v. Nigeria kicks off at 12pm on Friday.. |
