I like the fact that the Flamingoes went for a short-passing game today. I believe this change from the long-ball strategy vs Germany, enabled the team to create more scoring chances and kept the New Zealanders chasing shadows for most of the match.
We will need more of the same on Monday vs Chile. |

Politics › MRO Aircraft Maintenance Centre To Generate $185m ― ICRC by PDPGuy(op): 2:14am On Oct 13, 2022 |
Following the issuance of a Full Business Case (FBC) Compliance Certificate by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) to the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the establishment of Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre.
The MRO centre which is going to be the first in West and Central Africa will be a one-stop-shop for the overhaul, routine maintenance and service of aircrafts.
Established as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Messrs AJW Consortium as the concessionaire and using the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) PPP model, the centre is approved for a concession period of 30 years and is expected to generate about $185 million within the period.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by Manji Yarling, Ag. Head, Media and Publicity who added that the MRO is part of the key elements in the aviation sector roadmap of the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Roadmap in Aviation was an outcome of a careful appraisal of the challenges, risks and opportunities of the air transport sector in Nigeria after due consultation with key stakeholders.
It is aimed at addressing the challenges of the sector, filling the identified gaps and creating the needed environment for active private sector participation in the development of the nation’s aviation sector.
The establishment of a private sector-driven Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Centre is critical for the diversification and repositioning of the Aviation Industry as it will provide a platform for aircraft repairs, overhaul and maintenance.
The MRO Centre will address the demand for aircraft maintenance in Nigeria, West and Central Africa, as currently, the regions do not have an international standard MRO and therefore urgently require one to ease business, facilitate growth and contribute to their Gross Domestic Product (GDP). https://tribuneonlineng.com/mro-aircraft-maintenance-centre-to-generate-185m-%E2%80%95-icrc/ |

Henix: That Enugu-Onitsha express road has been a death trap for some many years. It's quite unfortunate that PDP couldn't reward South East with that road during their administration.
Senator Ekweremadu, the famous UK organ harvester, also couldn't use his position as DSP to press the PDP government to do the road for his people.
All the federal roads in South East are in deplorable condition. Onitsha-Owerri is currently a nightmare to commuters, especially whenever it rains |
Travel › MTN To Takeover ₦202 Billion Enugu-Onitsha Road Construction by PDPGuy(op): 1:14am On Oct 13, 2022 |
The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the takeover of the construction work on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway by MTN Nigeria at about N202.8 billion, under the road infrastructure tax credit (RITC) scheme.
Babatunde Fashola, minister of works and housing, said this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after the council’s meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the approval was in line with the executive order 7 signed by Buhari in January 2019.
“In 2019, January 25, specifically, you might recall that President Buhari approved executive order 7, which was the road infrastructure tax credit scheme, to allow the private sector to invest tax liabilities in advance in infrastructure, and that policy has helped us to finance roads like or by Obajana to Kaba, Apapa-Oshodi, Oshoki-Ojota Expressway, the Bodo-Bonni expressway in Port Harcourt, about a 1000 kilometres covering 21 roads under the NNPC investment. So, there is increased optic for that policy. So, today we have two more,” he said. He said the telecoms giant will complete the dualisation of the 110-kilometre road.
The RITC scheme grants income tax credit to companies and individuals that provide funding for the refurbishment and rehabilitation of roads.
The scheme is a public-private partnership (PPP) intervention that enables the Nigerian government to leverage private sector capital and efficiency for the construction, repair, and maintenance of critical road infrastructure in key economic areas in Nigeria.
Participants will be entitled to utilise the total cost (project cost), incurred in the construction or refurbishment of an eligible road as a tax credit against their future Companies Income Tax (CIT) liability, until full cost recovery is achieved.
In August 2021, MTN announced plans to reconstruct the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, under the RITC.
A year later, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) said it issued a N37.28 billion tax credit certificate to Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited for the construction of the Bonny-Bodo road in Rivers state. https://www.thecable.ng/fec-approves-mtns-takeover-of-n202bn-enugu-onitsha-road-construction/amp

PDPGuy, will the court garnish his pay or sell his businesses to pay the families for the defamation lawsuits? That’s possible. But considering the size of the jury award, Alex Jones will most likely appeal for a remittitur (reduction in the award) pleading that the award is unconscionable a.k.a “shocks the conscience”. His other ground would be that the award far outstrips the value of his assets. The amount of damages would most likely be reduced on appeal |

Come to think of it: When the Lekki airport becomes operational, MMIA may go bankrupt cos at least 65% of the passengers who go thru MMIA live in the Lekki/VI/Ikoyi axis.
The airlines would either run skeletal services in Ikeja or completely move their operations to Lekki. I also think all the foreign airlines may move to Lekki (which would be designed and built to 21st century specs), rendering MMIA as a domestic airport |
Politics › We Will Offer Professional Guidance On Lekki Airport - NCAA by PDPGuy(op): 6:06am On Oct 11, 2022 |
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says it will offer professional guidance on the proposed Lekki airport in Lagos, in line with its regulations and in the interest of safety. Mr Sam Adurogboye, the General Manager, Public Affairs of NCAA, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Monday.
Recall that the Special Adviser Lagos State Governor on Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Mr Ope George, on Thursday expressed the state’s readiness to construct a new airport on the Lekki axis.
George revealed that the Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government had sought and obtained approval from the Federal Government for the construction of the new airport in Lagos.
He said thst the project, expected to take off in 2023, would be constructed on 3,500 hectares of land.
Reacting to the development, Adurigboye assured that the aviation regulatory body would monitor the project from beginning to end when the time comes.
“NCAA is not opposed to developmental strides, and the initial approval comes from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, while NCAA also gives its approval.
“We will also supervise it from beginning to the end and certify it okay before the usage of the airport” he said.
Adurogboye said building an airport around the axis meant infrastructure development, which was good for the economy, the community and the state where it is situated.
Meanwhile, an aviation expert, retired Group Capt. John Ojikutu, commenting on the state government’s plan, said Lagos deserved a second airport.
He, however, said that the plan had been on for a long time and wondered why it was taking so long to begin it.
Ojikutu, who is the Secretary of Aviation Round Table (ART), said that the state’s plan came to light during the tenure of former Lagos governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola.
The ART is a non-governmental organisation established to advocate air safety and security in all areas of the aviation sector. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/10/how-well-handle-proposed-lekki-airport-ncaa/amp/
