Osinbajo interacting with Council on Foreign Relations could mean that he has already been anointed to be, at least, the APC candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Whenever a politician is granted audience by the CFR, it means she/he is either being groomed for a future presidential run, or an immediate presidential run.

Ibime: No they don't. Only the executive do.
Joshua Dariye was sentenced to 14 years last year as a serving senator.
There is an unwritten rule not to go after them too much though as they can also make trouble for the execs. Partially Since January of last year, there has been a statute that grants immunity to members of the NASS (and (Houses of Assembly) on actions taken during plenary and committee sessions. Outside of those two instances, the lawmakers enjoy no immunity. |

forgiveness: Why did the referee refuse to give us penalty against Germany when the ball touched a German player's arm?
VAR? The referee didn’t award the penalty because the arm of the German player was in its natural silhouette ie her harm wasn’t outstretched. |

Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 6:41pm On Jun 22, 2019 |
The big issue our players had was their lack of running into space. The forwards always wanted the ball at their feet, which makes it easy for the opposing defense to cut out the pass/muscle them off the ball |

ykalhaji: So we don't have any ball holder in the team ? Also the truth is if Oshoala doesn't play we will have serious trouble. Ordega will have to step up ×5 of her already significant play. Oshoala, Ordega and the youngin Okeke are the only players on our team playing with confidence, Oshoala and Ordega are the only one that play positions and space be sure that Ordega will definitely be triple teamed/marked tomorrow so without Oshoala roaming omo I don't know because Desire has turn to full 9 after her yellow card against Norway.
We definitely need Oshoala because she can play nonsense for 85 minutes but one moment and a good through pass to her can become a goal because of her pace and confidence. So bros forget your punishment talk. If she is fit only a stupid coach will bench her. Well, our lack of a genuine ball-holder, especially in the midfield is why the team’s average pass-completion rate is barely 60% in this tournament. In fact, I’d say the Thai midfield completed more passes that Nigeria’s midfield in the group stage. Also, the Thai players utilized space and opened passing lanes much better than the SF. So that’s why I don’t mind whether Okobi and/or Ayinde are dropped from the starting line up later today. Chinaza Uchendu and Amarachi Okonkwo could do better in keeping possession in midfield, in the absence of Chukwelu. With regard to Oshoala, her presence on the field forces the team to play “route one” football due to her pace and strength in warding off defenders. Ironically, that could be the most effective strategy to use against the Germans because the German defense is really susceptible to fast breaks and struggle to deal with pacy forwards. If the likes of Kgatlana (South Africa) and the Chinese forwards were more composed in the final third, Germany would have conceded no less than 5 goals in the group stage. The Germans were also lucky, defensively, because the Spanish team lacks a true finisher, the reason why Germany was able to record 1-0 victories over China and Spain. To be honest, I’d like to see Uchenna Kanu starting the game alongside Oparanozie and Ordega; then Oshoala (if fully fit) can replace Kanu in the second half. |

Dedetwo: This is not good at all. The possibility of Ayinde and Okobi at the thick of Nigerian midfield is blessing to the Germans. Throughout this tournament, Okobi has been completely flatfooted while Ayinde passes the ball to her opponents. Falcons need fresh legs in the midfield even if it requires running around and merely harassing the Germans, I am fine with it. Ayinde is excellent at the bolded. As you rightly pointed out, her weakness is her final pass. Besides, if Nwabuoku is deployed in the midfield, I'm not sure how she would cope with the speedy and younger German midfielders. So, I wouldn't mind if Okeke is deployed to the midfield, while Nwabuoku partners Ebi and Ohale in the defense. I'd also like to see Uchendu back in the midfield as well. |

BascoVanVeli: I don't think she participated because she is wearing sneakers I don't think she will start the match. So, the likely front two (or three) would be Oparanozie, Ordega, (and Kanu). Ordega will, of course, play more or less as a wing-back. |

semid4lyfe: VAR is Carlos Del Cerro from Spain, an European country?
Not good at all. To be fair, I just realized that 11 of the 15 VARs selected for this tournament are from Europe. So, even if we were playing against Cameroon, there would always be a high probability of the VAR being a European. |

olapluto: A review of the refereeing performance for the group stage match for Nigeria vs Norway was interesting. This is from a referee assessment:
NORWAY vs NIGERIA (3-0) Kate Jacewicz (AUS) Danny Makkelie (VAR)
(+) 12.19 NGA 9 yellow card for illegal use of arm (+) 21.10 NGA possible penalty situation for holding. Good play on and good No Intervention (-) 40.40 NGA possible penalty situation.Referee decision was play on.There was a very clear contact after sliding tackle. It should be penalty and VAR intervention was needed. (+) 44.17 NGA 17 yellow card for SPA
The only negative in the match was a clear penalty for Nigeria which was missed by both the ref and VAR ref. Yup. That missed penalty call must have been from the tackle on Anam Imo. I’m glad that even a FIFA referee spotted the obvious error from the VAR of that match |

semid4lyfe: I think players have a role in forcing the use of VAR.
For every potential penalty for us, I expect the team to pursue, surround the referee and protest vociferously.
For that Anam Imo incidence vs Norway, we should have played the ball out, surrounded the referee and protested. The referee is then forced to communicate with the VAR official and review the incidence.
YES, there is inconsistency in using VAR but there's a mental & psychological part to it's use and we must do the needful.
Still on VAR but I digress
The New Zealand players should have protested Cameroun's first goal and called for a VAR check. Nchout Ajara actually used her arm to cushion and push that ball forward (very deliberate actions) on the turn before shooting at goal. The VAR should have reviewed the goal but did not
Am I the only one who saw this? You were not the only one. I also thought it was handball. I guess the VAR had read the comments on social media about how they are “racist”, so the guy took the easy way out and allowed the goal |
