During injury time, Pillar's fans started pelting the match officials which resulted in the match been held up for close to ten minutes. At the end of the match, some Pillar's players notably Rabiu Aliu tried to man handle the center referee who had to be whisked away by security. The Pillar's fans invaded the pitch, destructing the advert boards and making their way to the VIP stands. They threw everything to could lay their hands upon into the stand.

Rangers were leading 1-0 when the referee awarded a freekick to Kano Pillars. This led to complaints and the game was stopped for a few minutes. Kano Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali took the freekick and scored an equaliser for Pillars.
