I hope DSS won’t go after this one now and claim he is Bandits and IPOB sponsor?

“Nobody will be allowed to mobilize resources and thugs to subvert the will of the people.”

Tinubu urchins thought Buhari was joking when he said that…

Shebi Emilokan claims he’s popular, let him go to the election on an even ground and let’s see how many votes he will get out of sincere support for him and conviction in his capacity.

The next thing Buhari will do will be to introduce an antidote for thuggery. Just wait, you go see am.

Politics › Where Are Those Who Said CBN Policy Can Be Bypassed? by Penguin2(op):
Nigerians are witnessing the highest level of desperation ever displayed by politicians in a long while. And it is because the ‘structure’ that some of them so much bragged about is being dismantled before their very eyes.

When the Naira redesign policy was announced sometimes in October, I was among those who rejoiced about it as we believe the policy will even the 2023 elections and eliminate, to a great extent, the influence of money on the outcome of the election.

Some people, however, laughed at us and reminded us that this is Nigeria, and that the big shots (their candidates) will be able to get back same volume of cash in the new currency like they had stashed away in the old one. We told them not to be so optimistic about it but they laughed at; that we are babies in Nigerian politics and in how the Nigerian system works. But a bigger shock was coming …

Just as they were still very optimistic that their big shots will bypass the system and get back billions of the new naira in cash to prosecute the election, CBN hit again. This time it was on withdrawal limit. N100,000 a week and N20,000 naira a day for individuals and some little bigger limit for corporate organizations but not without them filling uncomfortable forms and getting the signature of the Bank CEO and others. And after all that stress, it will be for 15,000,000. But 15,000,000 is not enough for one Local government in the election when imagine the level at which they were ready to go.

Now, they’ve looked left and right and seen that there’s no way to beat the system without those who helped you beat the system running into trouble and it would still be for insignificant sum.

That’s why they are now moving mad. First they readied some governors to go and tell Buhari that the policy is against him and that people might revolt against him. And one wonders which people they are talking about. Is it us or there’s another set of Nigerians we don’t know about? Because we are not complaining.

As if that is not enough, we were flabbergasted yesterday to learn that the DSS had secretly instituted a case against Emefiele asking the judge to grant them custody of him for 60 days; like seriously? And guess what they accused him - “Financing of Terrorism”. We do believe that anything is possible under the sun but Emefiele financing terrorism? Hmmmm!

So, who is really afraid of Emefiele?

I thought they said they can beat the system? Why are they now running kiti kiti kata kata?

I thought they said they are popular and have structure? Why are they now angry that they won’t have money to bribe electorates and INEC officials to subvert the will of the people? Does a popular person need to pay the people to get their support?

Please, whoever is after Emefiele should allow the man be as we approach the upcoming election. Nigerians are happy with his policies so far. If we weren’t, we would have complained by ourselves and not needing any governor to complain on our behalf. Let all the candidates in the 2023 elections go into the election on an even ground, from presidential candidates to governorship candidates to senatorial candidates, etc. Let all those who will win election in 2023 know that they are truly the choice of the people and not an instance where moneybags buy their way to power.

Penguin is a bird of Reason.

Saying Tinubu will win 4 Northwest and 4 Northeast states to console himself, I just laughed.

Please, in your free time, go to BBC Hausa page on Facebook and search for reports concerning Tinubu and then try to read the comments. That will help you understand the pulse of the people in the north. So that you will not be making blind analysis.

Buhari’s lot was going to fall on either Osinbajo, Amaechi or Nwajiuba until Tinubu started talking plenty.

Buhari withdrew his plans and allowed Tinubu get the ticket.

But as pay back, Buhari has approved the redesigning of Naira and introduced policies to ensure nobody has access to cash before the election. That’s like cutting 50% Tinubu’s power off.

Now Buhari has consistently stated that nobody will be allowed to use thugs to disrupt the election. And don’t we all know the person who patronizes thugs? That’s like another 30% of Tinubu’s power off.

The remaining 20% is the so called structure and some tribalistic elements in the Southwest. But let’s see how far the structure can stay loyal if there’s no money to share.

I give room to eventualities of Tinubu’s victory, but for now you just have to admit that he’s the most disadvantaged of the three front runners.

Ahead of the 2023 election, Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he will start supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Fayose, being a Yoruba, he finds it “stressful” backing a presidential candidate of Igbo extraction considering people from that part of Nigeria ‘do not trust him’.

“Supporting Peter Obi is so stressful for a Yoruba person.

“The Igbos don’t trust themselves so how do I even expect them to trust me.

“I gave my hotel, time, money, sometimes my food bank and my space they still abuse me everyday,” he wrote on his known Facebook page

Following this post, a Facebook user accused him of secretly supporting Tinubu and working against Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to which he replied: “I will start supporting Tinubu now….He is my Yoruba brother.”

Politics › Who Is Gen. Aliyu Gusau And Why Is He So Powerful? by Penguin2(op): 1:17pm On Dec 11, 2022
Earlier this morning, I read Farouk Kperogi’s column on how the “owners of Nigeria” are split between Obi and Atiku.

According to him, IBB, Abdusalami Abubakar and Aliyu Gusau seem to have thrown their weight behind Atiku while Obasanjo and TY Danjuma seem to have thrown their weight behind Obi.

According to him, Tinubu is their bête noire (his exact words).

But away from the cabal being split between Atiku and Obi, what I don’t understand is why Aliyu Gusau seems so powerful.

Others in the list have all been Heads of State, Obasanjo has even gone on to become an elected President. But I don’t know of the post Aliyu Gusau has held and how he became so powerful as to be a member, for a long time now, of an elitist cabal who choose and drop presidents as they wish.

Can anyone help?

The former deputy Governor of Gombe State, Charles Iliya, on Saturday, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Iliya was deputy Governor to Ibrahim Dankwambo. Our correspondent reports that he has been a major bedrock to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe South.

He was unveiled during the commencement of the APC’s re-election campaign.

Among other prominent defectors are; the North-East PDP youth leader Kabiru Jauro, who promised to support Governor Muhammadu Yahaya to achieve his re-election bid.

Also speaking, former Atiku Abubakar’s campaigner, and a former governorship aspirant of the PDP, Isyaku Gwamna, while addressing thousands of followers, described his move as necessary.

Gwamna said, “It was better to rely on what you have seen than what you are promised.”

Speaking, Yahaya described the support as genuine following his performance since 2019. “The support is genuine because of our performance,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, former Governor Danjuma Goje, who is currently the senator representing Gombe Central was the only candidate absent.

Goje recently reconciled with the Gombe State governor in the twilight of the APC primary election where Goje picked a return ticket to the Senate.

Like APC did in Anambra where they bought even a sitting deputy governor, that’s what they are doing now.

They’ve embarked upon the purchase of anybody who has ever held any political post.

I’m sure their thinking is that the masses will be swayed by seeing big names in APC.

But like that strategy failed woefully in Anambra where it yielded just third position, it will fail again.

Tinubu is out of the contest.

His only option now is to back Obi in southern solidarity and as reparation for 2015 treachery.

Politics › Re: Oil Marketers Abandon Scheme To Break Subsidy Regime by Penguin2: 12:46pm On Dec 11, 2022
Kobonaire234:
While tinubu and Buhari did help in mobilizing support against subsidy removal in 2012...which happened, only partially...the fact is, most Nigerians do not support subsidy removal.

Back then, people were of the opinion that we were earning enough money from oil to fund subsidy (not true)....so they marched. All people saw was that fuel was once N65, now it is N140. Even the N97 that it came down to....

Buhari and tinubu just joined in for politics. In politics, you sometimes do the Machiavelli style to get into power.

But the truth is, if subsidy had gone in 2012, by now the same Buhari and Tinubu would be reaping the benefits.

Subsidy is loved by Nigerians. My worry is, whoever takes over, even if it is your Obi, if they attempt to remove subsidy, Nigerians will forget their divisions and remove them. Buhari tried to remove subsidy early this year. DSS warned him of potential national uprising. That's how subsidy is. Nigerians want it. Nigerians want cheap fuel. Politicians hear and obey. Even at the expense of our economy.
You are right to an extent.

Nigerians like subsidy. But this was due to lack of adequate orientation by the government of how the ordinary man in the street was going to benefit from its removal even though there’s going to be some short term consequences.

Again is the wicked and malicious Machiavellian( if you allow me to borrow your words) lies by the opposition - it was ACN and CPC in 2012 and PDP in 2021.

But the masses are now aware that subsidy can no longer be sustained and even the NLC are now toning down on their demand for retention of subsidy.

So, I think Obi can successfully end the subsidy regime without such reaction you are predicting.

Politics › Do You Know Yusuf Datti Is An Establishment Child & The Only Fulani In The Race? by Penguin2(op): 10:09am On Dec 11, 2022
Do you that of the 4 front runners, only Yusuf Datti is Fulani in the ticket?

Tinubu of APC is Yoruba, his running mate is Kanuri.

Kwankwaso is Hausa, his running mate is Edo.

Atiku is Chamba, his running mate is Igbo.

Only the Labour ticket of Peter Obi has a Fulani, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, on it.

When you realize this, you would now imagine who the Fulani power brokers of the North will support.

Will a Yoruba and Kanuri man better protect their interest?

Will her a Chamba, powerful on his own, better protect their interest?

Or will a Kwankwaso better protect their interest?

We can argue for Atiku and Kwankwaso but no one will better represent your interest like your brother.

Remember that Fani Kayode is already engaging in the rhetorics of bundling the Fulanis in cow pens and returning to where they came from.

Furthermore on Datti, do you know that the man is just a front for Baba-Ahmed family?

If you ask me, I will tell you that Baze University and other establishments credited to Datti, are owned by the Baba-Ahmed family but registered in Datti’s name.

Datti seems to have been groomed from birth to be the face and front of the Baba-Ahmeds as they scheme for power.

For emphasis sake, remember that Datti’s elder brother is the spokesperson of Northern Elders Forum. Another of his elder brother is the chairman of a certain group of Islamic Sheiks; in all, they are a large family with wide range of influence.

When last did you hear that Obi gave northerners name tags as governor?

When last did you hear that Obi deported northerners?

There is an establishment in the north with Datti as its face that has thrown its weight behind Obi.

Will they succeed or not? Only time will tell.
