You have to elaborate very well. Who's your sponsor, hope what you're going for is a branch of your UG program? As regard home ties, the fact that you're not employed does not mean anything. Personal assets will likely not work against you. Also hope you have siblings, parents,...does your dad have landed properties that you can lay claim to? Does any of your parent have registered company?.....the most important part of home ties is your parents and siblings. Somat4ril: please the gurus in the house, what should i provide as home tie as someone who'll be finishing NYSC by March ending.. I've not worked, and I've gained admission into centennial college to study international development (pgc) my UG study is sociology /anthropology. wanna go through the line of sociology of development. Help me out as I wanna commence my visa application ASAP @michv, petinential, folaroyal .. please oooooooo |

mabella2: @Folaroyal,I read where you said one can apply from US even on a visiting visa. Please do you know anyone that has done that and it came out successful. Am traveling to USA soon and I want to apply from there cause of time constraint. Before you proceed, please note that the processing ti me for your application in U.S.A will not be t he same with other nationalities applying from the U.S.A. It's highly imperative to note that if you submit your application in the U.S.A, your documents will undergo the usual vetting process with other Nigeria applicants (it won't be treated as any other nationality). And also the V.O will be very much interested in the reason as to why you chose to leave nigeria to go and apply for Canada study permit in the U.S.A. unless you have a very strong reason. |

When is your program starting? Anyway, what it mean is that you should enter Canada on or before the date on your C.L Oyemat123: Is 2018. You mean I can go by September 2017 Def! you can go by September, if your program is not for fall, be prepared to tell the officer @ the POE why you're coming early. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by penitential(m): 2:19pm On Feb 24, 2017 |
It won't expire. Just to avoid un-neccesary questioning at the POE as to why u did not enter on time, try not enter Canada on or before that date. @the year you wrote, do you mean to write 2017? Oyemat123: I applied last year October for January 2017 but I had to defer my admission till September. I applied online, I only submitted the requested documents requested online. Funny I didn't do all the extras I have seen people here doing. It was only statement of account that I attached there . The rest were documents I filled online.
I even made an error I ticked that my sister would accompany me , the embassy had to contact me to explain what I meant which I did and told them it was a mistake . Then my medical call was February 2 at IOM Ikeja , then passport collection last week . Then I got the correspondence letter today . Thasks be to God.
Lastly I want to ask on my correspondence letter I saw must enter Canada 2018/03/31. Does it mean the visa would expire by then or I must be in canada before then |

same thing i said NO! since you're operating on full funding. Your dad can choose to do otherwise if his S.O.A is heavily loaded. Remember that declaring you as dependant, the V.O might be taking into consideration financial capability of your sponsor. BTW i think even if he declares you as a dependant, he will have to state his financial commitment to you, in that case the amount declared as commitment may not really affect your sister's app (if the balance on the S.O.A is okay to the V.O) Blackanada: I mean I'm currently using his soa to support my application as my sponsor. But I have also been given full funding to cover tuition tuition and living expenses.
I decided to use my dad as a sponsor because I read on this forum that it's not advisable to present only the funding from my masters program. So would I be considered a dependent? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by penitential(m): 7:50pm On Feb 22, 2017 |
No. He should not declare you as dependent except if you're depending on him financially. Blackanada: One question though. When my sister is applying for her visa (in like September) if I've gotten mine, will my dad list me as a dependent (I'm admitted to a fully funded program). |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by penitential(m): 6:17pm On Feb 22, 2017 |
There is no need yet. Blackanada: I need advice.
My sister plans to begin her masters next year january. In the mean time she's out of school and working.
Should my Dad list her as a dependent when I'm applying for visa? Or he doesn't need to since she hasn't began studies yet. |

skylar2020: Hello,
You can find our PhD admission requirements through the following link:
http://www1.uwindsor.ca/cs/2301/phd-admission-requirements
In particular, you need to have an equivalent of a 4 year Honours Bachelors degree in Computer Science with all core CS courses taken and with high scoring grades from a good University. Also, you must have a research thesis based MSc in CS not a course based MSc with project if seeking admission into PhD. If you meet the conditions, you can follow up and apply and may also contact our grad secretary through csgradinfo@cs.uwindsor.ca for more details and enquiries.
You can specify my name as a possible supervisor. Admission is through an admission committee although a supervisor must be found. Let me know if you are eligible and decide to apply.
For MSc admission, only condition 1 of having an equivalent of a 4 year Honours BSc in CS with all core courses taken is needed. The admission committee might recommend additional undergrad courses to make up if not already taken.
We try to support financially, but expecting full funding is not feasible. We actually do not make any funding guarantee to Masters students.
Hope this helps and Good Luck.
Dr. ________ Professor School of Computer Science University of Windsor, Windsor, Ont N9B 3P4, Canada.
does this mean d prof has agreed to my supervisor has anyone applied at university of Windsor and he got full or partial funding? To the bolded, the Prof is ready to absorb you but his condition is that you must check that you have the requirements. |

gbsunmonu: Hello all,
Kindly assist, a friend of mine got a mail now to provide new acceptance form and was sent a medical mail as well.
But the thing is he was refused last year June after medical . So i heard medical is valid for a year.
Is he meant to do another medical or sent a mail to them telling them he has done one before ?
Kindly assist guys What was the reason for the refusal last year? if the refusal reason wasn't base on the medical result, he can submit that result again. If base on medical result, he should go for another medical if and only if the reasons has been corrected. |

justwise: 1. Not a good idea because it's not feasible
4. Nothing wrong with this as it shows source of income.
5. Not a good idea
6. Use a finance with a traceable source.
7. It doesn't matter @the bolded. Justwise, i will like you to be more explicit about the bolded. Because some applications with huge closing balance without good flow of financial transactions on the S.O.A has been denied (lump sum) esp if the S.O.A belongs to the sponsor(which s/he is supposed to be a working class). It can be possible in a situation whereby such happens to the PA account with a L.O.E to explain it as commitment to the PA from the sponsor. Please clarify may be i may be wrong. 7. Is the funds indicated meant to be fixed or recurring?( should there be a fixed amount or they just need to see constant flow of cash? |

tzipporah: PLEASE HOUSE DONT CHASTIZE ME, I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERING, AND IF AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE CAN GIVE ME AN ADVICE, GOD WOULD RICHLY REWARD YOU. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING AND I AM 27 BY JUNE YEARS OLD. I WANT TO PROCEED FOR MY MASTERS BY HIS GRACE NEXT YEAR SEPTEMBER. HOWEVER, BY THEN I WOULD BE 28.
1. WOULD I BE GIVEN VISA FOR SUCH IN CANADA AT THAT AGE?
2. DOES ANY ONE KNOW ANY POSSIBLE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE IN CANADA FOR INTER. STUDENTS LIKE ME, HAVE A 1ST CLASS ALREADY?
3. OR AFFORDABLE SCHOOLS I CAN APPLY TO, AS I WANT TO FUND MY SELF, IF NO SCHOLARSHIP?
ANY OTHER INFO YOU CAN PROVIDE IS WELCOME.
YOUR REPLY WOULD BE GRATELY VALUED. If only you can state your intending course of study, it will be helpful to guide as to what to do. As regard age, that is not a problem on your side provided there is no any academic gap of idleness. As regard scholarship, you have a very good chance of getting if not full, at least half(depending on your course and area of specialization. Also you must be going for research base masters to be entitle to study grant) |

[quote author=nairalandnewbie post=53915855]Good Day, I was advised by my friend to join the blog and read up on my study permit requirement but i'm a bit lost as to where to start from to get the requisite information i need at the moment. The thread is quite long. Just a background story: I am a law graduate and I've been called to bar for about three years.I'm currently working and I have about 18 months post nysc work experience. I'm interested in traveling to Canada for a new career path in business. However, due to the high tuition rate for MBA i opted for a diploma in Business administration. I have an online business which i have managed personally for about 2 years and has yielded lot of returns and i would like to gain more knowledge and better business skills hence my interest in Business. I applied to Lakeland college and Assiniboine community college. I have gotten a letter from both colleges. I intend to start my visa application by March but I don't want to make any mistake. Hence my long talk Now these are my questions: 1. Due to limited funds as requested by CIC, I intend to use my employer as sponsor (which my boss has agreed to) but i'm a bit skeptical about it because i think it will be frowned out. ( A law firm sponsoring an employee for a business diploma for 2 years) doesn't look feasible to me. what do u guys think? you just answered the question yourself at the bolded. 5. Do you think i should state the high tuition rate for mba has the reason for my diploma choice? that is not a good reason for choosing Diploma course over MBA. 6. As regards financial support, should i use my employer or look for funds n transfer same to my mum's account and use hers instead? Do exactly as you have stated. but also maintain a minimum balance of not less than 1.5m in your own S.O.A while you use your mum to support yours. 7. Is the funds indicated meant to be fixed or recurring?( should there be a fixed amount or they just need to see constant flow of cash? A very good cash-flow is very vital and essential to avoid cash-lodgment story. and also a closing balance of reasonable amount should be presented. Between 9million and above without payment of tuition should fly. The main red-flag here is your UG course of study that is not inline with your proposed diploma course. Aside the fact that it is not an academic progression, it is also not correlating. i fear to tell you that your proposed program won't fly. |
