nnamdi640: I don't have any ideal and am 100% sure that to embark on sure project one won't spend upto such amount stated by Ameachi because we all know that the so called FG have never been honest with money and the resources of this country, all they do is to look for means of looting. 36 billion dollars is not just a token when compared to naira. Again the LONGEST HIGH SPEED RAILWAY ( not the locomotive railway track Ameachi is talking about) in India cost less than 18 billion dollars and remember that India is three times bigger than Nigeria, now imagine how long the model railway will be when you bring the length down to Nigeria In 2008, Libya began a railway project, a standard gauge awarded to Russian Railways, for a cost of $2.8 billion for 554 km, or $5m per km. Now far back in 2008 Libya spent almost $3 billion for just 554 km railway. How many km railway would connect the whole Nigeria States? |

Thesame fg that can't construct major federal roads will construct railway track that will link the whole states. We all know what their intention will be once the money gets to them. You still didn't answer my question. How much do you think is enough to link all the 36 States by rail? $2 million? The question isn't whether they'll do it or not but how much you think it will cost? When you answer the question I will answer yours. |

NGpatriot: Jona did not initiate Warri Itakpe, it was 30 years abandoned project before Jona.
The narrow guage they are making noise about was started by GEJ, he awarded the PH- Makurdi line in 2011 to his looting and stealing friends in 2011 and nothing was done but Jona paid them tons of billions.
When the narrow gauge looting and stealing orgy was going on, these tribal hypocrites did not say a word, they were happy shouting ebele son of the soil.
In fact Jona gave the narrow gauge contract to an ibo man zero rail construction knowledge or previous rail work, he took the billions and did nothing.
Their problem was created by the de useless and corrupt PDP they keep voting for
Don't mind the ignorant tribal elements making noise, they care less about Nigeria, they don't know anything beyond their Buhari hatred. They claim Jonathan started BVN but can't say he started Kaduna to Niger railway.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying university education is useless. What I am saying is that a university education that cannot produce or add value is useless. A skill that can produce or add value is far more important that a degree without value. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs (and those two examples you gave) are three college dropouts who famously went on to become billionaires. However, it's important to remember dropout billionaires are the exception, not the rule. For every tech unicorn that wrote a world-changing algorithm in their college dorm room before dropping out and making it big, there are thousands of highly successful people who refined their natural talents at college and say they would not be where they are today without the knowledge and networks built up in university. |

wirinet: A certificate you don't need is as useless as not having a certificate at all Zimbabwe has a literacy rate of close to 90% but remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Since you decided to bring literacy rate, check the countries with the lowest literacy rate. 100% of them are poor countries. Then check countries with the highest literacy rate. 99% of them are well to do countries. Also, employers are more willing to pay higher salaries to degree holders than non degree holders. In other words, if two people have the same skill and are good in the same way, and one has a degree and the other do not, statistics shows that the degree holders earn more. In fact, if both of them are coming for the same job, the degree holder has been shown statistically to get the job more than the non degree holder. In case, you still don understand, a skill without a degree will earn less than a skill with a degree statistically.. Also I was comparing two scenarios, a certificate you have but don't need, a certificate you need but don't have. And I said one of the scenario was much better. My uncle who dropped out of school was telling me of a story of how a friend of old who he met years later wanted to help with a good job. All the friend needed was just any university degree (even Arabic education was ok) to get him the job but he didn't have. That's how he lost that opportunity. He needed a degree that he didn't have. Sha there are still tons of people that made it without having a degree so it's not a must. |

Since I give them the best service and the salon where I work is a bit standard, I should be paid more money for my good service and for the comfort they enjoy in the salon. A barber that opens a barber shop using planks with one small standing fan and isn't that good in his job shouldn't be expected to be paid like a professional barber that spends money in his barbershop and has the best equipment that can give his customers the best comfort.. SUFFERInSMILIIN: From my friend everybody is moving away from all even America and Europe are now moving away from oil do you know America's importation on oil is less than a million barrels per day if you go about 10 20 years ago that importation was about 6 million barrels a day. The age of oil is becoming over. There are very few countries to sell the Old to nearly all over West Africa it's flooded with oil. All the even countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran are selling their own to India and China below market value. It is only a fool which tries to invest in something when they age is over it's like somebody's saying right now they want to invest in coal So does that mean that if Nigeria sees oil they shouldn't use it when they haven't fully diversified?? So they should just stop producing oil since everyone is going green? Till the year oil is no longer being in use, let Nigerians sell all the oil she can sell and use the money to build infrastructure and diversify her economy. |

If they want the best, they should learn to pay for it.. The year I entered the university, the VC increased our acceptance fee 5X and school fees by almost 2X. Now at least I'm seeing the changes in the school. New LTs and classrooms being built here and there. Now all the classrooms in my faculty has ACs and the building is being completed. Students protested when the school fees, acceptance fee and hostel fees were increased.. The same students complain when they don't have enough classrooms for lectures and unequipped classrooms. They want to enjoy American standards of school yet they don't want to pay for it.. Just so you know, I'm the one paying my school fees myself and fending for myself with the little barbing that I'm doing.. So don't think I'm having things going easy for me.. But I've always known that if I want the best, I should pay for it.. |

Pay medical practitioners what they deserve as a global practice. since you're comparing their salaries with the salaries of doctors in US and UK, also compare their school fees too and see that it is chicken change.
