Reference: Has it occured to you that it may be those tasked, engaged with the job or repairing these pipelines that may be sabotaging them for gain. That the recent incident involving the death of those workers may not be all that it seems. Just thinking aloud. I don't just trust the NNPC/NGC on this matter. That's why I am a strong advocate for private sector control. Strategic assets should be controlled by those who will 'weep' to lose them, not people who will tell you 20 billion dollars is missing from their accounts with a smile. This country. |

I dont want to believe press statements by govt official anymore. Especially as regards this power issue. On this same issue, a minister in the former cabinet blamed the underworld spirits for the lack of incapacity. What else do i need to hear? I have come to a conclusion that nigeria's ability to get the power issue right will bring an end to some people's wealth and well being. If vandals are majorly responsible for the challenges we face in generating electricity, why then doesnt the minister of power ask the NA to pass a bill that will make pipeline and power infrastructure vandalism an offence punishable by death. I dont want to believe that some nigerians enjoy destroying public infrastructures for the fun of it. If this law is passed, any vandal caught (if truly they exist) in the act will face death penalty. Since their acts often lead to the death of workers who do the pipeline repairs, expectant mothers who lose their unborn babies because the hospitals can provide electricity. Its high time we try a different and desperate approach to this power problem. |

horsepower24: Straight to the point, would not share testimonies, today is not sunday.
It is quite unfortunate that Nairaland has lost the glory it was built on; undiluted content from Nairalanders.
Mods here have now turned themselves to mini-gods. Delete your comments if it opposes their views (esp in the politics section). Get you banned if you decide to school their lovers. Close your threads if you open a solid come-back argument that totally flaws their shallow thoughts. And they never respond to mails, which you are paid to do so, its not a free job the last time I checked.
Actions like these are diabolical and would definitely reduce the quality of content here on this forum, as indifferent viewers, guests and nairalanders are supposed to be entertained to well robust opinions from both sides of a coin.
My humble submission. You are doing the opposite of what OP asked for. Share your testimony, you spill your grief all over the place. Another bitter nairalander. LOL!!! |

Pavarottii: I av said it, PDP don't need to oppose APC. They are opposing themselves already.
Nigerians are already seeing their incompetence crystal clear like Meth.
PDP should just focus on their house and gather themselves together and av a successful convention. And watch how PDP will start sweeping elections across the country an eventually take over the Senate.
God bless Nigeria. Listen to yourself. The KOWA party of nigeria stand a bettter chance of ruling this country than PDP. Sixteen years of waste and misrule and you expect nigerians to put all that aside and bring back that plague of a party back to power. Yes, nigerians are having a rough time with APC in power, but let us remind ourselves that part of the problem the ruling party is facing has a lot to do with the misrules of past years (not trying to absolve APC). Asking for a PDP comeback at this stage of our democracy will be tantamount to national retrogression. |

Personally, I think the solution to our power problem lies with the states.
Each state should provide power for her people. Simple.
This national grid of a thing is slowing the country down. My opinion too. The state govts stand a better chance of running profitable ventures than the overly mighty, corruption prone federal govt. I pray i see the day when state govts will patner with foreign companies to own power utility companies. If only the states know the enormous potentials that they have. |

That's you people aid and abet bad children and when they get to the universities, they bcome secret cult members and runs girls and Problems to the society!! Shame on the NPF for wanting to arrest the management without proper investigation!! That what's how I read the other day how a secondary school cultist kiLled his Ex- Headmistress who is a grandmother in Benin, the headmistressed must have been dealing with him in school those days, now that he is a cultist, he decided to pay her back!! @Op your are biased in your account! OP I CHALLENGE YOU AND AM ASKING YOU TO QUESTION THE CHILD AGAIN TO TELL YOU WHAT SHE DID OR SAID TO THE TEACHERS THAT WARRANTED THE TREATED!!! If you decide to go to court remember they can still afford to get lawyers too. And there will be witnesses but student witnesses and Teacher witnesses that will come and testify THE TRUTH! So you better look before you leap!! I have seen a situation exactly like dis, the parent when to court and they ended up Apologizing to the school management and the Child was expelled too! You seem to type with your emotions turned on. All the parties involved are all guilty of one offence or the other. Technically speaking, the girl that was abused is underaged and as such, in the event of such undesired act, the guardian/parents are in the best position to take responsibility for her actions. For the school staff to have taken it upon themselves to mete multiple beatings to her is very unwarranted and a crime on its own. If they (staff) were certain that no crime was commited, they should have honoured the police invitaion. As adults, teachers, parents, guardians and custodians, they irresponsibly took sides in this case and that is very insensitive and unprofesional. |

Terrorism has attained a global status like every other crime. Drug trafficking, human trafficking, prostitution, smuggling, hacking, cyber spying etc. Is there a country in the world that has been able to put a total end to these threats. Globalization and technological advancement that has aided man into the present century plays a huge role in the sucess or failure of these crimes. Ever since the 9/11 2001 incident, america has scaled up its security surveillance to the highest level. The threat is always there. The key to checking terrorism is not to let the guard down. Just as we look out for the next terrorist, the terrorist also looks out for the next weak point to cause maximum havoc. Fight against terrorism goes beyond battle field engagement, but more of intelligence gathering and high level surveillance. These attacks might as well being planned from far away libya, sudan, syria, iraq or iran and executed in maiduguri. Terrorism has become a global trademark. A lot of planning, technology and brilliant minds are involved. Imagine the underworld where terror groups are trading shares. Its really scary. |
