PDP is not a serious party. How do you achieve a different result when you keep doing the same thing over and over again. This guy has been in the mantle of leadership for over 20 years. Dont they get tired of these game? I dont blame them, i blame the gullible electorates. |
Op, its one of those things. Take heart and move on. You didnt lose, its those genuine merchants that live on this data sharing business that will lose. This kills morals and erodes the confidence of potential buyers who will rather not buy from genuine merchants. Fraud does not pay, harwork does. |
If only nigerians know the potential this country holds. The entire black race looks up to us to get it right so that others can also follow. |
Sit on that chair at your own risk. |
ShitHead:The boy is just a propaganda tool in the hand of the jihadists. They abused the innocense of the young boy. He probably expressed shocked after the detonation. No boy of his age would consciously do such for the sake of religion. These people are nothing but hypocrites. |
They risk deportation after the citizenship stripped off. The only hope they have are the children who most likely are citizens by birth. |
Okies27:You are a nairaland joke |
PentiumPro:thank you madam. One set of brazillian weavon to your collections. If all nigerians (i mean tribes) come out and condemn this disgraceful act of looting by their kinsmen, the country will be better for all. Corrupt politicians and public office holders use religion and tribe as an instrument of operation in their public looting. The poor nigerian on the street stupidly thinks the looting benefits him indirectly if those involved are of his tribal extraction. This psyche has done the country more harm than good. Every looter should be arrested and prosecuted irrespective of the tribe, status or religion. |
VampireeM:Worry less. The next election is round the corner. If APC loses out, it will be their turn to be probed. Eventually, it is victory for nigeria. |
VampireeM:Worry less. The next election is round the corner. If APC loses out, it will be their turn to be probed. Eventually, it is nigeria that wins. |
tooman:Nonsense. I believe generators consume 30% of the 40 million litres, that is if the figures are true. Provide at least 18 hours of electricity nationwide and see those figures go down dratically. I wonder why we celebrate. inefficiency. |
eph12:Full of people not investments. |
sweetgala:good suggestion. The oversized nature of our system of govt was created to give jobs to jobless politicians. The politicians themselves know this, but it is up to the civil populace to request for the removal or restructuring of the present system. If we keep expecting the politicians to move a motion to this effect, a hundred years will be an understatement. |
Another beautiful thread stained with derogatory tribal comments. The stupidity that nairalanders display these days... |
adeekiti:Sadly, there is nothing we do well in this country. Before we all condemn and crucify the hospital, kindly apportion a share of the blame to our comatose power infrastructure. Build the best hospital in the world if you like in nigeria, all it takes to ruin such facility is 18 hours of blackout in a day. How do you expect a hospital that is struggling to pay its staffs from the meagre profit and still expect the same hospital to maintain power supply during outages. We nigerians are a people that run away from reality and chase shadows and jungle justice. When nigeria is ready for developmet, we will start giving BRF ultimatum to do an overhaul in that very important sector. For now, lets continue to count our losses. There is no sector of our life that this power failure has not damaged. |
Most schools in the south west are scams, most especially the private schools. The quality of hands recuited is so poor. Teachers and administrators are only interested in making money off the parents. In most cases, parents are to busy or ignorant to diffrentiate between a school with capable background and one that is just packaging the school. I was in enugu and delta mid last year and i was amazed at the quality of teachers trained to lecture jss students. The admin was up and doing. Here in lagor and SW, most teachers and admins are mostly educational retards only interested in making money. Though, there are few exceptions but majority are poor at teaching, this includes the so-called "big man" schools. |
muba4huss:Thanks for raising this point. Unfortunately we have investors who are only interested in funding import business. Must we wait for government to sponsor all projects? Why cant wealthy nigerians fund such projects? The answer is simple. Most wealthy nigerians dont fund innovative ideas, because they simply made their money by being part of the patronizing system. A system that frowns at innovations and hardwork. A system that believes in investing today and reaping 24 hours later. The nigerian govt is not in any way different from the people. I wonder if nigeria can ever witness an industrial revolution. |
allthingsgood:FYI, the military incursion into civilian polity left a huge scar in our psyche as a people. Till date, we do exhibit these tendencies. I am not here to throw blames at the military or anything, but that video depicts the lack of discipline that has been entrenched in the psyche of an average NDA cadet. Definitely, not all members of the NDA behave in such unruly and un-civilized manner, but that video gave a bad reputation to every member of the nigerian army. How do you expect a nigerian army member on training abroad to feel among his foreign peers when shown this video. The Nigerian defense authority needs to do a total re-orientation of its personnels especially as it has to do with dealing with the public. Funny enough the Nigerian populace are always the first to rise up and defend the nigerian military when there are allegations of human right The army is a discipline corp anywhere in the world, but those guys made the nigerian army look like its a recruiting ground for the very indiscipline, not better than a public militia. |
@ least, he sent a message. |
In the UK, he pleads guilty to looting of public funds running into hundreds of millions of pounds, but in nigeria he shouts "i am innocent, it is the handiwork of my political enemies". Only in nigeria will fraudsters, cultist, murderers become office holders. His chieftancy title awaits him in his oghara. |
DirtyGold:Are u saying its ill-concieved to site a maritime university in ijaw land? No sane and patriotic nigerian will support the disapproval of the school license based on whatever financial fraud it is sorrounded by. FG can as well go ahead and locate as many maritime university in other parts of nigeria. But this one should stay. |
Its time our society starts rewarding harwork, sacrifice and dedication. LASG should foot his bill, reward him with a gallant job and support him financially. His action just saved the lives of hundred of citizens that would have been wounded or killed with those weapons. Its time our society start giving recognition to brave and dedicated citizens. These are the values that we have lost as a society. It is young men like these that give the nation hope in the future. |
Must you exhibit savage traits just because you got into the army. Recruits these days need to go around with instruction manuals. She probably got into the army so she can humiliate men. One of those "in the army for the wrong reason". |
Corporate begging |
hopeforcharles:Thank you for making this point. This i believe was the 60-80s, when global economy powers then relied on raw materials like cocoa, tin ore, steel, crude oil etc Then, there was demand for raw materials that we produced in huge quantities. The US dollar as a global base currency was not as strong as it is now. To get our raw materials which was in high demand, you had to come for our naira currency, so the naira was well sought after. Let it be known that as at then nigeria imported luxury cars, like citroen, bentleys etc Because our currency was well soughted for we didnt have problem patronizing these goods. The 80s was an era when america unleashed its global capitalist system on the world, they virtually invaded every economy via its banks backed by the call for privatization which many countries bought hook line and sinker. This was an era the american us dollar became a global benchmark currency. Unfortunately, that was an era that we abandoned our agro allied industries and went after petro dollar. The irony is that the americans did not abandon their own agric industry. Its amazing to know that agro-exports still accounts for the highest forex earner for the american economy. I am sure a lot of nigerians dont know this. |
Its a pity we are embarking on major infrastructural investment at a time we virtually emptied our coffers. So long as the money goes into capital projects and properly monitored, there wouldnt be cause for alarm. The terms of re-payment must be properly looked into. Every country borrows, if not how do you explain UKs 700 billion pounds debt or america's trillion dollars of debt. PDP, you brought this woe upon this country. |
Android is HUMANITY, APPLE is a bit$h. |
989900:Bros, a lot is wrong in this polity of ours and the present crop of leaders that we have are not there to reverse the anomaly that we see but only interested in holding an office for the sake of been a public office holder. I , personally have tied this country's success to the office of the minister of power. |
bookface:Ban everything? Believe me, (no insults) you will make a woeful CBN governor. I am tired of commenting issues that borders our economy. In the 80s, three things killed our economy and if we do not retrace our steps, no matter the policies we put in place we will not make progress. 1. The socio economic crisis that resulted from several military coups really did a lot of economic damages to not only our psyche but our economic value system. The well educated nigerians that would have helped the country grow had left in droves, so also did the creative minds, footballers, musicians, engineers etc. After the advent of democracy, we have not been doing what a nation like rwanda is doing, i believe its called nation building. What we did was to leave our economy in the hands of foreigner who will never love our country more than they love theirs. 2. Our in-ability as a nation to revive our power sector that went comatose in the 80s. This singular factor accounts for the dearth of 80% of our industry. We are in the 20th century for heaven"s sake. Any country in the world today with more than a 100 million people that is serious about building a local manufacturing capacity must be ready to generate no less than 30,000 MW of electricity, the least. Its a pity that a lot of people dont understand the devastating effect of not having a viable power sector. I, myself did not understand this until i ventured into the dangerous waters of " Entrepeneurship in Nigeria". In my own experience, 70% of my generated income went into providing electricity and eventually i had to call it quits. I know a lot of ignorant, block headed nigerians will come hear and say; "There are many businesses in nigeria that you can do that will not requite electricity". This is a mental psyche that an average nigerian has developed in the last three decades that has continued to hold us back. My reply is go and tell this to the americans, japanese, chinese, indians, south africa and the rest of the world. We nigerians go online and scream "DIVERSIFICATION" as if its is suppose to be a password to freedom or something. Even if we decide to diversify to agriculture for example, do we have the capacity in terms of technology and manpower to deliver an agro allied industry that can meet local and global demand. For heaven's sake we still operate an agricultural system that is based on subsistence farming while the world has since moved on to technologically driven system. The mining sector is not left out neither. If we are going to run a fully fledged mining system, we would still have to rely on adequate power. Mind you, this sector is heavily "electricity driven". Below is a list of six countries, population and electricity generated COUNTRY POPULATION (2013) ELECTRICITY (GWHr) 1. CHINA 1 362 119 434 5,649,500 2. USA 320 050 716 4,297,300 3. INDIA 1 252 139 596 1,208,400 4. JAPAN 127 143 577 1,061,200 5. SOUTH AFRICA 52 776 130 256,100 6. NIGERIA 173 615 345 25,313 7. FINLAND 5 426 323 71,200 N.B South africa is planning to invest $20 billion dollars in 10 nuclear reactors so as to increase present capacity by half in the next ten years while nigeria on the other hand is expecting the minister of power, BRF to wave his magic wand and increase capacity overnight. The earlier we realize we have work to do the earlier we move this economy forward. Somebody should please ask OBJ how his regime squandered over $13 billion dollars on electricity we never got. 3. PATRIOTISM. The present generation has a lot to learn in this regard, that is if we actually know what is entailed. Has anyone ever asked why 90% of american movies would rather market an APPLE I PHONE, GOOGLE, CHEVROLET or FORD SUV in their movies rather than a samsung or toyota? That is PATRIOTISM and what you will get on the other side is PATRONAGE. You dont buy it in the international market, rather its unique to every nationhood. |
Pamelayoung:To corrobate your point, nigerians have not only been killed by BH lately, so also is the cameroonian army turning nigerians into target practise simply because the army/security agencies are either nowhere to be found or too overstretched. BH is roaming the plains and fields of bornu eager to spill innocent blood of nigerians, why should people be allowed to move into these places the first place. The move was just too early and sucidal. Now, there is bloodshed all over. The security agencies should just deal with situation thoroughly first. |
opedaydydx9:Blame the structure of the system. It is designed without a plan for the future. To worsen the cause, government bureacracy and discouraging protocols help the system beneficial to only the privileged who in most cases have nothing to offer. Welcome to nigeria, our messed up country. |
