The reason why PMB made himself Minister of Petroleum is simply to give that department very close monitoring so that our main source of revenue is not looted in the usual way it has always been looted, and the bulk stops at the President's desk.
And that portfolio assignmant is getting too much of his attention in contrast with other viable sectors. As corrupt and deluded as GEJ/PDP govt was, they had a diversification plan in mind. The local automobile policy, things were really shaping up in the agricultural sector, ICT and satellite technology was getting deserved attention.
One would have expected PMB to build up on the progress on ground. Anti-corruption fight is taking too much attention than it should be, especially at this critical times. PMB might not be the messiah to lift nigeria out of economic doldrum afterall. This will be dissapointing after so much confidence and hope.

My broda, the thing tire me o.. Every nigerian leader we have elected since 1999 dont see a nigeria surviving without oil. PMB is another pathetic case. Making himself the petroleum minister as if the only thing nigeria has to offer is crude oil.

I simply dont understand why we avoid diversification like its a plague or something. By now, i expect that PMB along with the minister of power and finance would have come out with an economic template that will see us investing in our power infrastructure as that is what our plan to diversify would be anchored on. I ask myself, how a nation of 170 million people with vast mineral and agricultural resources would rely on revenue generated from 2 million barrel of oil per day On the other hand, saudi arabia, a nation whose vast land is sandy desert with a population less than 30 million has a larger crude oil share of 10 million barrels per day.

For years, nigeria has been shortchanging herself by solely relying on crude oil. No wonder 70 percent of our population is living below poverty. PMB better get his head out of the oily cloud because oil is bound to become shit soonest.

Every religion preaches love and care for fellow humans, but humans do the opposite.
Politics › Re: Between The Bini Empire Of Those Days And The Igbos, Who Were More Powerful?? by persius555(m): 1:24pm On Jan 10, 2016
The binis have a well documented history that makes the empire a pride for any bini. They were feared by many, even the europeans had a hard time subduing the kingdom in the course of its invasion. Though, they were feared and respected by many, they were never domineering. As a result, the kingdom formed many alliances with the ijaws, the yorubas, the urhobos and many others.

The igbos reminds one of the eraly irish that arrived america in the 17th century. Everyone for himself. Every clan had to fight for a place in the society. They carefully co-existed among each other, but were brutal in settling scores among each other.
Business › Re: Okrika Clothes, Pistol, Gin, Other Goods Banned By Customs (SEE FULL LIST) by persius555(m): 6:27am On Jan 10, 2016
So long as we continue to have epileptic and expensive power supply, many of these goods will continue to find its way through the backdoor into this country. We simply cannot produce goods that will compete evenly in the international market as long as we refuse to fix our power issue. PMB can ban all he wants, the basic principle of economics will continue to play itself out.
In nigeria, we dread dread reality but enjoy deciet. For all i care, its the custom personnels at the border and various entry points that profit from these ban and prohibition policy.
PMB better wake up and smell the coffee. Running an economy effectively is not the same thing as fighting corruption.

It wont be out of order if the soldiers are summarily dismissed. Disnt they know what they were getting themselves into before joining the army?
Majority of those in the army have no business there.
The army is a discipline and fearless corp anywhere in the world. Its only in nigeria that unemployment is the reason for joining the army.
I once read an article of a female US service lady who was caught up in an ambush that cost the life of seven of her platoon members in iraq. Despite been raped and tortured by her captors, she refused to read a speech given to her on camera. That is bravity, not the cowardice some NA display. The military is not a place for the lily livererd.

I fear for this APC govt. No policy direction. A finance minister without a charisma. A president that thinks he is still in the army.

Honestly, i dont think the finance minister knows what she has gotten herself into. Is she waiting for oil price to drop to $20 before pressing the panic button.

Simply getting rid of some of these "strongmen" without a contingent plan for an equally strong successor creates a power vacuum that could be filled by the Abu Bakr Albaghdadis of this world.

Nigeria today is paying dearly for Gadaffi's fall.

Very true. But then, the elites in the north are the curses that plague the north. If all the emirs, sultans and the politicians in the north spend half of the resources they spend promoting sharia on child and adult education, that part of the country will emerge as the economic anchor of the country.
Politics › Crude Oil Price Drops To $34 On Friday by persius555(op): 9:39am On Jan 08, 2016
Global crude oil drops to $34 on friday despite rise in global demand for energy and rise in chinese stocks. So, with iraq and canada pumping more, OPEC unwilling to cut supply and iran warming up to flood the market, have we gotten to saturation point? What's the effect on nigeria's economy? What's the direction of direction of the new finance minister? So many questions to be answered.

Politics › Re: US Donates Armored Vehicles To Nigerian Army [PHOTOS] by persius555(m): 4:29am On Jan 08, 2016
We shouldnt be in a position to be complaining. Those US made MRAPs are the cheapest in the world. Russian typhoon (though more sophisticated cost 1.5 million dolls a piece.

With 100 milion dollars out of the 2.1 billion dollars that dasuki and PDP stole we can get 200 pieces of this if we want, but then this is nigeria where the high and mighty are the criminals and thieves of the society.
America has over 27,000 variants of MRAPs in its possesion and they have been giving or selling them to military allies and customers who are willing to pay.
The americans are obviously gradually warming up towards us. We should deal with cautiously as they are known to have no permanent friend in international politics. Whoever thought they would be all smiles with iran today after decades of hostility.

I need mikrotik or pfsense training
take my advice. Go with mikrotik. You can get a level 5 Router OS license for 7k and can be installed on a PC box and woks exactly like a mikrotik hardware, but trust me nothing like mikrotik in its own box (i have one). You can get a cheap mikrotik box with wlan for 15,000 without a serial interface (enables console terminal connection). Mikrotik has the most active forum and allows users input and run their own script on the hardware. Supports virtually all known network protocols for 75 percent less of major vendors like cisco, juniper and the rest. I didnt attend any institution to master my mikrotik. Just downloaded materials online and used the forum to get advice.
If you feel u still need to attend an institution, get in touch with any New Horizon centre. Wish u the best.
Pfsense is free but doesnt come near mikrotik.

Why are my zombie friends shouting jail jail all over the place. Where in the constitution of nigeria did it say that mounting a transmitter is the same as treasonable felony.
Did the guy steal mtn masts or cable like some ex-nepa officials? Did he damage any of mtn property?
Are MTN properties now FG properties.
somebody who pays an abooki monthly to look after his house or land. The abooki then rents part of the house/land to others, does that mean abooki will go to jail for treason?

If the owner (MTN) is not happy with hosting the (Biafran trasmitter), they should simply remove it and fire the guy. I don't see any treason here, the highest they can get na fine for tresspasing mtn property and mtn will have to write a petition and get involved which may make many Ibo/pro-Biafrans boycott mtn services in future. Lawal daura of DSS is just chasing shadows. A transmitter is not regulated like fireams.
You have a point there. If the young man gets a good lawyer and feigns ignorance of the motive of the equipments, then the court will have to drop the DSS charge against him. Only MTN can press a criminal charge against him. I would have expected the DSS to pressure NCC to fine MTN for allowing unlawful use of its telecom equipment, but then i guess the law doesnt work like that.

Sometimes, i wonder aloud tomyself why there is regular supply of petroleum products in wartorn countries like iraq, libya, syria and yet you find scarcity all over the place in nigeria as if there is a civil war going on. Nigeria is the only country in the world at the moment where there is gasoline scarcity despite oversupply in the global market.
The country needs spiritual reborn not the type our religious leaders are selling to us.

PLS STOP MAKING NOISE

Nigeria consumes 41million litres per day and your Buhari could only come up with 6.7million litres of fuel per day. WHICH MEANS THATHE REMAINING 34.3MILLION LITRES WILL BE IMPORTED
This is why we need to encourage indigenous oil companies, investors and state govts to invest in modular refinery. We need to shore up the supply channel as thats the only way to keep the oil marketers at bay. Eventually, we will reduce subsidy to the barest minimum.

Some nigerians can be so silly and too quick to blame anyone for their headache. Visafone would have died a natural death like the rest cdma networks like starcomms. Reltel, multilinks. The only reason it held on for so long was probably because it had a major financier in zenith bank. My second line was visafone, my first modem was a visafone modem. Globally, telcos dont dig cdma technology, especially for voice communication.

The last time I checked america gat a base in saudi, and infact saudi is an Ally to america, a fact that has cause a lot concern for muslims who believe americans to the infidels so plz check ur facts again!!!
In recent times, economic relations btw the US and the saudis has been strained as regards the saudis insistence on flooding the market with enough crude to frustrate the US shale oil production. Why do you think america is bent on lifting economic sanctions against iran after decades? On realising this, the saudis have in recent times also consolidated ties with russia and israel (iran's number one enemy).
At the moment, russia is trying to cool frayed nerves btw the two middle east leaders. For all i care, the lifting of iran's sanction by the US and NATO countries has only suceeded in heating up the ME. Israel and saudi arabia have a common enemy in iran, russia and the US both have contentious issues to resolve in ukraine but are willing to play neutral actors. As for iran, over the years they have mastered the art of fighting proxy wars effectively, so long as we effectively check BH and any sunni inspired militancy, now is the better time to deal with iran over zakzaky issue. Release the sheikh and make iran sign an undertaken that him and his member will be peaceful in going about their religious proceedings according to the rules of the land. The iranians will see this as diplomacy contrary to the saudi's execution of a fellow sheikh. No one is interested in un-necessary power tussle, just international diplomacy. Moreover, russia and china are assets we cant afford to lose right now. As for the iranians, a change in govt at the white house will definitely spell doom for them.
