Business › Re: Greedy Nigerians Cashing In On The Rising Dollar Exchange Rate by persius555(m): 12:42pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
tobiasbeecher: The writer who wrote this is not too savvy as to how the economy works. Though not an economist, but my elementary knowledge of economics tells me that there is what they call the multiplier effect! The multiplier effect is a concept in economics that describes how an injection into an economy, such as an increase in government spending, creates a ripple effect which increases employment and the output of goods and services in the economy. So vice versa, if there is an increase in the price of dollars (which has been the major currency in most of our business transactions), the resultant effect will be an increase in prices of virtually every commodity in Nigeria. The writer failed to understand that the woman palm oil seller has to transport the said oil to the urban market and probably the transporter must have increased the price of his fares because the last time he went to change his tyres and fuel pump, he has to buy them at 20% price increase because the dealer has to increase price because of scarcity of dollars. This goes around and happens in virtually all sectors of the economy. So the woman palm oil seller may not be wrong after all! Every nairalander coming up with his/her own juju economic theory. |

GeneralShepherd: Nigeria cannot experience lasting peace and prosperity without addressing the root cause of armed insurgency, and civil unrest.
After you visit Abuja and compare it with say Oyibo in River state, you'll understand that the insurgency was only postponed and not solved.
It will always be a recurring phenomenon, unless poverty and unfair wealth distribution is addressed in the region Both militants and govt do not want development in that region. Agitation is what the militants feed on, while the govt in collaboration with the oil companies want to extract oil at the expense of the environment. The situation is crazy. |
Politics › Re: Discos Should Go To The Stock Market For Funds! by persius555(m): 8:14pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
The truth is that those that bought the discos know absolutely nothing about the business. They thought by investing their stolen billions in power business will help secure their stake. Power business is capital insensive anywhere in the world and its gestation period can be long. It is not import and export business. It require large capital investment, expertise risk, and lots of patience. They better turn to the market instead of looking for more govt bailout funds or the poor mans hard earned kobo. BRF better tell them the truth. No free money anywhere. If u tire, abeg handover the business to someone else. |

Following expert consultation with cyber security expert, the hollywood presbytarian medical centre has yielded to the ransomware malware by paying $17,000 after bargaining the price. The hospital infrastructure has been fully restored 3 days ago. Even the FBI could not save the situation. This is certainly worrisome. |

OP, as emotionally laden as your post is, so also is it not feasible. How do you manufacture when you have power shortage. If the entire insustries in lagos and aba alone decide to operate full blast, the present power generating capacity will not be half sufficient. OP, write an equally emotional thread like this to the presidency. They know what to do, but for whatever reason they join us to blame nigeria for not doing enough. |

This form of attack is escalating as a result of global economic slowdown( from russia with love 8-) . Its use of very advanced encryption algorithym is really a cause for concern.Imagine, rogue hackers using 4096-bit RSA public keys. "JEEZ!!!" Multiple layer security system combined with two steps user verification policies coupled with religiously adhered backup policy will help keep attackers at bay for now. What is the cyber world turning into! This is not the best time to be a system administrator. |

We need a policy that will help cut down the number of expatriates in that industry. I believe there is a deliberate plot to ensure nigerians that have a say or competence to fly such planes. Above all, our economy is currently contracting despite the huge population. WOW...what can one say?! |

SLIDEwaxie: u shld increase ur sinking capacity and think wider.
1. it is impossible for every trader to still have the goods of almost 3 months on ground...unless u're a petty trader.
2. if it finishes...people will improvise. only the super rich will be able to afford the average things by then.
if a fake razor blade (Nigerian made) is sold for 5 naira, and imported tiger blade is sold for 20naira (current price), who wld buy the 20naira own unless they are rich enough?
in a nut she'll, the average Nigerian is more then the rich ones, those who prefer to import will be left at the mercy of the rich ones while the larger masses goes for the indigenous.
sooner or later, some average trader will stop importing because they will be unable to sell as quickly as they shld.
then the company in China will loose customers and decides to open a company here where the original blade will be sold for 10naira. then someone with the will of adenuga of GLo mobile will open a razor blade company and sell at 6naira...
that is where it all starts... I like the way u paint the picture of an industrial el dorado. No nation without sustainable power generating capacity can embark on an industrial revolution. Look at the power situation, does it look like we have an energy plan on ground? |

AdaNri1: The money saro-wiwa's brother will ever get from the Nigerian govt will never compensate for the unlawful killing of his brother in the hands of one of the most corrupt dictators in the history of Nigeria, who ironically has been declared by the current president as 'not corrupt' despite the loot recovery. Who the gods want to kill they first make mad The death that will kill a dog prevents it from perceiving the smell of excrete The stubborn grasshopper follows the corpse to the grave Ken saro wiwa was an honourable individual who stood for justice, fought against his people's continued suffering and oppresion. He died in the process of pursing a noble cause. He is someone every nigerian youth should look up to. If this general is found to have been involved in crime of any sort, then he should face the music. The two are different people in reasoning but related by blood. I am sure if late bros was around, he wouldnt support his actions (i.e if he has been found to commit a crime). |
