Dear OP,

I don't want you to feel bad about doing the right thing, I'm glad you stood your ground and allowed your conscience to lead you.

Please DM me your account details, let me light up your mood in my own little way.

Cheers.

Elistho:
In the presidential elections, a few others and I were disenfranchised because of unit problems, I went to the polling unit by 7AM, I waited till 5PM but couldn't vote. INEC arrived by 2:30PM after choas that day, I went home tired and frustrated.

Today, I wasn't in my polling unit, I took risk and traveled from my state capital to my location today. The road was so dry, Military everywhere, no public transport, I almost urinated in my cloths at the sight of armed forces men... I waited and luckily saw a bus, I ran to enter, we took a bush track... We were all scared, it wasn't easy this morning...

I arrived my unit, my neighbor asked me if I'm voting PDP, I was shocked, this is someone we both agreed to vote YPP, because he's a better candidate, she had been bought over with money... She directed me on what to do and who to meet to get my 5k there.

I queued, voted and step aside. The police man was bribed, he gave party agents way to stand and look at the votes cast, if it's PDP, they take you to the backyard, write your name and account number, expect 5k while they give you 1k as initial thank you.

I wasn't too shocked, this was the system... I wanted the money so badly, I was even laughed at... Coupled with my suffering today, plus during the presidentials everyone collected except me... Today, I can't boast of a thousand naira but I stood by grounds for the sake of equity and good conscience.

PDP won the unit, with a wide margin.. I was vexed... I came back home, even posted on my WhatsApp, I'm being laughed at, and I began wondering when doing good turned to a thing of mockery now....

I pray God opens a way for me so I can keep closing my eyes when I see money like this, as a student, 6k is way too much in this economy... But we move. On God.

This is me feeling fulfilled knowing I can criticize this governmet for the next four years with good conscience.

PDP will win in Akwa Ibom State as usual, but it's trash. But I know they're people like me, God bless you.

You're absolutely right. However, the difference between the western world and Naija is that standard of living is almost the same for everyone. Hence, artisans charge a whole lot so that they can live comfortably like everyone else in the corporate world.

It is what it is bro.

emmaodet:

$750 is about 500k now.
If I buy tokunbo car, infact if I buy Nigerian used car and decide to use it for 3 years, I won’t change my break pads with Sir K. More than 30k per year assuming I am using fake pads here in nigeria.

That is about 100k in 3 years but the truth is, since have been using cars all my life, have never changed break pads more than once in 2 years.

I spent about $750 (workmanship Inclusive) to change by brake pads and rotors. OEM products are very expensive.

However, the truth is that I won't be changing the pads or rotors again for at least 4 to 5 years...That's the difference.

From the name, it's obviously a Chinese company and I know these guys to overwork Nigerians in Nigeria and pay meagre salaries.

You will most likely work on Saturdays without overtime pay.

If you don't have anything going on for you right now, I will advise you apply and hope things turnaround for your good as quickly as possible.

All the best sir.

I think Warehouse assistant is better. With that skill, you can easily work as an infrastructure manager/ logistics manager someday in a bigger company.

In addition to that, If you eventually get to relocate to another country, I think you stand a better chance of settling down more quickly than a Bank Teller.

In short, your opportunity for growth is limited as a Bank Teller

Education / Re: Why Is Any Number Multiplied By Zero Equals To Zero? by phemocheee(m): 12:41pm On Jan 14, 2021
OP, I love how you think.

You concluded that 0x3 and 3x0 are two different statements and I will like to start my explanation from there.

Imagine a friend of yours decided to send you 0naira at 3 different times, how much will hit your account? Definitely 0naira right? Which means you never received any money.

Now imagine your friend who has 3 naira decided to send it to you at 0time I.e your friend didn't send the money, so how much will you have? Still 0 naira because the money never actually left your friend's account.

So 0×3 or 3x0 will always give you 0

Hope this helps.

Please just create a new thread and tell your own story if you feel obliged to.

However, ensure there're no grammatical errors (You can ask someone to proofread before you post) and please clearly state this as well: "I asked why haven't you eaten and you said you don't have much"

Michdaf:
If you want to know why I stopped chatting and calling you, why didn't you tell me yesterday. why did you have to bring it here. I don't know what you wanted me to do then. I ask why haven't you eaten and you said you don't have much. And I was not that buoyant then. And I explained everything to you. Then you start giving me attitude. that period, I was invited to court and you know the reason. I was face with the court issue for six weeks. At first I was arrested and my phone was taken from me. All this period you didn't call. and the best thing you could do is to bring it up here. Am very disappointed

This one na mumu post.

Firstly, she came to your house and met one of your friends with benefit, are you trying to tell us here that she came to your house for the first time unannounced? How come you didn't tidy up before she showed?

Secondly, how come this mysterious girl was once your wife's friend? I mean, in a country of over 200million people, what is the odd of your fling being a once upon a time close friend of your wife?

Thirdly, how did you find out your wife knew this girl, I mean, did you discuss her with your wife or did you show her your wife's picture? For a girl you just want to sleep with, I doubt you will want to share your family details with her except.....

Fourthly, all these useless fictional stories that Seun's mods are pushing to front page ehn, e go reach one time wey be say na only slowpoke go dey visit nairaland.

Oga, you are the problem here. You're too soft and seem to be easily controlled by your wife. In all these you've put up there, I can't see where your mum was wrong. Yes, she might want to always be around you and her grandchild but that's typical of a lonely woman.

Sir, if you continue this way, I think your wife will cause a big rift between you and your family and that would totally be your fault.

Man up, defend your mum, tell your wife she should let bygone be bygone. I mean, why would she resent your mum just because of wedding guests inclusion, it's even more annoying that she's kept this resentment for about 8years now. OMG.

God bless your mum, she's a very good woman, may she live long. Talk to your wife, be very strong, make a great statement at home and let her see a different side of you, the no nonsense side.

Finally, no matter what you do, never ever be manipulated by both women. They must fear and respect you

Personally, i would advise you stay in Calgary... The 18k might look big but its not really worth the move. There is nothing as good as having family and friends around to help you integrate well in Canada.

Thanks

I am not yet in Canada at all, but from my research so far, a good job in Ottawa trumps Calgary any day, and Ottawa is still relatively cheap compared to Toronto or the gta, plus in the long run your career in it might flourish more if you are in Ontario province

Thanks for this bro

18k difference is gross so I think you should use the net difference instead. Cost of living is slightly higher in Ottawa so factor this as well. Please, pray about it and God will guide your decision.

You are hot cake already. Calgary or Ottawa, you shall succeed.

In general, I'd request you pray about both company for God's leading, then research the workplace culture, career progress for both. Reach out to past employee if you can. Linkdin can help sort that.

Then make your decision. Family is everything with status quo. Sometimes its better you are the pacesetter for family rather than following.

Bros jump on the next plane with your family. To begin with Ottawa is a cheap city to live in. It's a small city (a bit over a million) with big city amenities. Taxes in Ontario is a bit more, but that extra 18k gross will more than offset it. An extra 18k gross a year will net you at least an extra 9k in your pocket easily. You'd be crazy to turn down an extra 9k in your pocket yearly. This narrative that Ottawa is way more expensive than Calgary is a lie. I've lived in both cities. Lastly with Ottawa being the capital, a lot of government agencies are looking for someone in your field. I feel there's more opportunities in Ottawa for you. Not to mention you already got a job that pays 18k more. People should be careful of people who are enemies of progress. Canada is yours to explore. If things don't work out trying to explore X then you can always return to Calgary. I can live with making a mistake, but not regrets.

Good morning folks. Please I have a good problem and I'm losing sleep over it already.

I'm currently in Calgary, staying with my cousin for about 2 months now. Just recently, I got a job here in Calgary and I'm expected to resume tomorrow. Let me also say that the pay is quite good too. However, last week thursday, I got another job at Ottawa and the difference in salary is about 18k.

Both jobs are of the same category, Senior IT Security role.

Now to the main point: I'm seriously contemplating relocating my wife and son to Ottawa but my cousin feels the increase in salary is not material enough to offset the cost of living @ Ottawa in short and long term. He's of the opinion that staying close to family and friends in Calgary will be beneficial to me in the long run.

Please for folks living in both cities, which do you think is the best choice at this point in time? Should I stay in Calgary or move to Ottawa?

P.S My wife is also into IT Security but she's yet to get a job in Calgary yet.

Thanks

@Mods.....Please I beg you, do NOT move to front page

Celebrities / Re: Daddy Freeze Supports Man Who Raped 16 Year-Old-Girl,Wants To Marry Her In Delta by phemocheee(m): 2:48pm On Apr 12, 2019
English is just too hard for some people....Daddy freeze is definitely not in support of this man. Based on old testament, especially in the book of Deuteronomy, the rapist would have been justified to marry the girl. However, this is now totally unacceptable since we are no longer under the law.

What freeze is trying to say here is that we are no longer bound by the law. Hence, doctrines around tithing, first fruit, clothing e.t.c specifically stated in the old testament, should be discarded while we accept the teachings of Jesus as well as the disciples.

If you really want to practise the doctrines under the law, practise everything from A to Z. Stop picking the ones that favour you and neglecting the others. That's hypocritical

I'm beginning to doubt the authenticity of the recent suicide reports. What if, just what if this guy was killed and the culprit decided to make it look like suicide just to deceive the security agencies.

A smart killer can do this knowing fully well we don't have a well equipped forensic investigation police squad..
