darkelf:I totally agree with you. His doctors have not declared him fit and so he should be allowed to rest. He is just saying so because of the aggressive and determined personality he has. It is Rohr that was making Osimhen look soo indispensable. He never integrated Awoniyi, dessers, Sadiq Umar etc into the team. He kept using Onuachu, Musa, etc and made himself to beleif there is no alternative to Osimhen. Osimhen should relax. the world is not going to end if he does not show up at Afcon. If i was Eguavon i will replace him with somebody else immediately. I wont even ask about any health. He will be useful during our world cup qualifiers |
Read and be inspired about Africa |
THE 1970 BRAZILIAN WORLD CU TEAM HAD A PROFOUND EFFECT ON MODERN FOOTBALL. READ IT HERE THEIR WINGERS DRIFTED INTO MIDFIELD. THER MIDFIELDERS INTO DEFENCE ETC "Rivelino was a more unorthodox winger. He would drift into the centre, consequently creating a three-man midfield with Clodoaldo and Gérson, or taking up more attacking positions near Pelé. Carlos Alberto was instructed to bomb down the right flank when Brazil were in possession, leaving Piazza, Brito and Everaldo to cover for the whole team. Piazza was actually a midfielder; Zagallo insisted on him playing in defence to help with Brazil’s build-up play. It is easy to forget that such tactical tweaks were radical innovations at the tim" https://thesefootballtimes.co/2018/06/17/brazil-1970-and-the-most-beautiful-football-in-history/ |
komekn:Mr. Komekn. This idea was gotten from the Brazilians of peles era. if you watch the brazilian team of 1970, the midfielder, wingers and attackers randomly interchanged positions. sometimes pele will play as a ten and the ten will move to the position of striker. their attackers could play many positions. Many of todays ideas of attacking football were gotten from Brazil and that is why Brazil will allways earn the respect of the world as the masters of attacking football |
TheGoodJoe:1. In the modern game, positions are not fixed. In fact, football is moving to what i will call a false 10. this is a player that plays in the wings but can also come to the center to play as a 10. So a player can play as a winger and attacking midfielder in a match. So a winger and attacking midfielder may be the same thing depending on the type of player. A formation might not have an attacking midfielder but the wingers can easily drift inside to play that role. Football is not positionally stagnant and a player can take up 2 or more positions in a match. The idea that a player is a winger and nothing else is limited. A winger can turn into an attacking midfielder for twenty minutes in a match and the striker can even drift to the wings in order to confuse the opponents. this is gotten from Johan Cruyffs total football but if u see children on the play ground, their position is not allways fixed. Some players can naturally do many things in a match. In fact your front 3 of 2 wingers and a striker can easily interchange positions and the winger can move to the center while the striker drifts to the wings. Football is fluid, dynamic, interesting and not rigid. formation has many interpretations thats all. 2. then one of the most versatile players was wayne rooney. He could play as a striker and midfielder |

Mujtahida:Well, In my opinion, Guardiola still plays beautiful expressive football and that is why i like him. He in fact once said he does not play for tackles. Beautiful football will allways return and triumph in the end. If you are 3 goals down in a match you might need a Ronaldinho who does not mark to score and create 5 goals for you and this your statistic will fly out of the window. Anyway I THINK GUARDIOLA IS AN EXRESSION OF BEAUTIFUL FOOTBALL |
Read about the boy that saved Africa |
komekn:Actually Sadiq Umar has 8 goals and 7 assists in 19 matches. that is 15 goal involvements in 19 matchs (75%). Sadiq Umar is not about just goals, he is a creative forward like el hadj diof of the 2002 world cup. This is why there is interest in him. His underlying stats are impressive. He scores, assists, passes and dribbles. When he does not score, he completes 5 dribbles, wins penalties, creates 3 chances etc in a match. Sadiq Umar is the most creative forward we have. HIS CREATIVITY IS UNDERRATED. I MEAN EVEN MAN CITY AND SEVILLA IS INTERESTED IN HIM so we are not fools for talking about him. He is only in Almeria because his club refused to sell him by overpricing him As per Nwakali, he as impressive last season as he saved Alcorcon from relegation and was player of the month for his club. Also, he is now a major part of the sd huesca team. In his last few matches, he was the best player on the pitch |

Mujtahida:I think the issu with Westerhoof is that he studied and understood our underlying football culture and then adapted and modified it to produce that usa 94 team. The problem with foreign coaches is that they are not like Westerhoof. They think we do not have any footballling history and impose things on us. Africa can only develop by adapting and not copying. Rohr i think made that mistake and he payed for it. A lot of people here dont appreciate the fact that we have a footballing culture going back to the seventies and sixties and it is a serious mistake. Foreign coaches do not necessarily understand the mentality of our players, the best position for them, how to motivate them, the formation they strive best in etc. Westerhoof is a man that appreciates and understands Africans and Nigerians. A foreigner that acts like Westerhoof will succeed but can we get one. |

Tinneh:You see players like alhassan Yusuf, Nwakali, ovie Ejaria somewhat have this skill set and this is why we have been shouting they should be in the team. skill set and tactics can be more important than where a player plays. In fact, Akinkunmi Amoo can play both as a winger and an attacking midfielder and so he can just play in the wings and help out in midfield at the same time. |
Tinneh:this is why a player like Alhassan Yusuf will be good for Central Midfield. He is a natural cm. From the little i have seen of Alhassan Yusuf, he is like the Ogenyi Onazi of 2013/2014 who collected the midfield from pogba in the world cup and won the nations cup. With Iwobi as a support striker, he can drop back in midfield and make it a 4 3 3 and then go into attack mode again to change to 4 4 2. A player like nwakali will also be good as he can play cm and support striker at the same time. The second striker can be anything from a cm to an am or even Sadiq Umar with his creativity will be a good support striker. Not to talk of Aribo. 4 4 2 can be like 4 4 1 1 or 4 3 3 depending on the personel. |
EGUAVON SHOULD TAKE US TO THE WORLD CUP I read part of Eguavons interview and i realized he knows what he is doing. His actions even indicate this fact. 1. Immediately he wants to correct the problem of our lack of creativity in midfield by inviting nwakali, alhassan yusuf etc. 2. In his interview, he understands his players and their strengths and weaknesses. 3. It seems he plans to use Chidera Ejuke and Samuel Chukwueze behind a striker 4. He seems to understand the Nigerian philosophy and style of play with wingers, good passers in midfield etc 5. By the end of this afcon the problem of lack of creativity in midfield will be gone thanks to Eguavon. No team will dominate us in midfield again 6. He knows the players inside out and how to use them. He even said iheanacho is positionally confused which is a very intelligent statement 7. I have said it we just need a coach that understands us, our mentality and how to use us. 8. He has the westerhoof model which is the only model that seems to work 9. You see, foreign coaches flatter to deceive. They look so attractive but are like wind without rain. What happens on the field of play is all that matters not someone playing in Real Madrid. 10. We may hate it but our most creative players are not in the top 5 leagues and eguavon understands that. He does not mind and wants to use them. 11. In football, even if lewandoski, cavani, ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are in your attack, without creative midfeidlers and wingers, your attack will be limited. This is what Eguavon understands and Rohr does not. 12. As per the guy from the Isreali league, he may turn out to be another sunday Mba. Not all players in obscure leagues are bad. It is just by percentage. 15% of players in obscure leagues are good while 85% of players in the top 10 leagues are good. It is just finding the 15% in obscure leagues that are good that is the problem and the Isreali league guy may fall into the 15%. 14. Eguavon may not seem attractive but he will deliver at the end of the day. 15. Someone mentioned the fact that the USA 94 team did not play for the top teams of Europe but it made me smile. African born players dont get the recognition players born in Europe get early in their career. they may have to wait till after they are 25 to get into teams like barcelona, chelsea etc. But that does not make them bad. Talent is talent everywhere and a boy in Mushin can be more talented that a player in west Ham. |
humility33:But if they do well in cameroon the sports minister will not allow him to bring the foreign coach. So i foresee this man not being our coach eventually. Things will happen between now and the end of the nations cup |
Nomyth:What if Eguavon wins or get to the final of afcon with impressive performances and some of the players are selected in the team of the tournament. At this point nobody will care about this new foreign coach with a mediocre vc. they should not sign any agreement with him till after afcon. It should be a pre contract and the contract should be scrutinized by a Lawyer and the sports minister If we decide to sack him or not employ him at all we dont want to pay him for a year while he is not working for us all because of the contract he signed. He is not even familiar with Nigerian or African football and his track record is even mediocre. If it was ten haag the coach of Ajax at least we know we are having a young, dynamic coach that is full of ideas whose football philosophy matches our own (Westerhoof is from holland Let us sink and swim with Eguavon foreing coach should be after the world cup |
komekn:I have a personal experience. I am a writer and i wrote a book a publishing company was interested in. However, the money needed to publish it was too much and then, they could not find sponsors for me because i was not living in europe. If i was in Europe i could be a world class writer by now, In fact, one other of my books i could not also publish or get a publishing company to market for me as the price is not affordable due to the high exchange rate of the naira to the dollar or pound is quite high. It might take me time to be recognized as a writer simply because i am living in and born in Africa. See, this is a link to one of my books i publised online if you think i am lying. https://okadabooks.com/user/Philosopher1979 I need a publishing company to market them but been in Africa limits me but i will get there someday. So this is the way it works for our footballers |
drDoom3:Alhassan Yusuf also in the starting line up for Royal antwerp. I learnt Eguavon is interested in him. He will be called as paul Aigbogun is a fan of alhassan yusuf and wanted him in the youth team but his then club will not allow him |
Meliforme:Actually, Awaziem is one of our best defenders. I watched him play for Nigeria in the qualifiers and he was very good. He is in Turkey because his old club (Boavista) could not pay his wages. Also, maybe his agent did not advertise him well. Home grown African talents are not well advertised by their agents and thus, it is no fault of there's that they are not always in the big leagues or clubs. Believe it or not Awaziem with the way he plays is one of our best defenders and even Rohr during his time could never drop him from the team. He has been fantastic in Turkey and he will join a big team or league as time goes on. As per Omeruo he is average but you are right. A lot of players in the bottom 10 of the English league and in division 2 are not better than him. He is at the same level if not better than Semi Ajayi or players in a club like Newcastle. Life is not always fair and assessing a player by his league is not always straight forward. in fact, if Simmy Nwankwo was born in Europe, given his career record, he will not be in Salernitania but again, he does not have a good agent. |
Clint02:With yori yori football. The unique brand of Nigerian football we will |
YORI YORI FOOTBALL, THE NEW CONCEpT OF FOOTBALL FROM NIGERIA THAT WILL CONQUER THE WORLD Yori Yori football is rooted in Nigerias history and culture as a footballing nation. Tikitaka has conquered the world We have seen the Brazilian Samba and the Gegen press. NOW IS THE TIME FOR YORI YORI FOOTBALL It is a combination of African or NIgerian, Brazilian and Dutch football. It has been played down the decades by various Nigerian teams and now in modern times it finds it fullest expression. Examples of this unique brand of football are: The 2015 u17 world cup winning team The 2014 u17 world cup winning team The Olympic team of atlanta 96 The afcon winning teams of 1980 and 1994. The brand of football is unique and not team from Europe or South America can understand it. Amunike played it with the u17 team and fifa could not understand Nwakalis role. I BELIEVE THAT STARTING FROM NEXT YEAR THIS STYLE OF FOOTBALL WILL START CONQUERING THE WORLD THE WORLD SHOULD GET READY JUST AS SAMBA pRODUCED pELE AND TIKI TAKA pRODUCED MESSI, YORI YORI WILL pRODUCE A NEW AFRICAN WORLD pLAYER OF THE YEAR FROM NIGERIA. WE WILL BE UNCONQUORABLE WITH THIS BRAND OF FOOTBALL. You see it is when we Africans embrace our uniqueness that we can actually conquer the world. Adaptation and not immitation is the key to Africas progress and in Yori Yori football our unique style of play adapted to modern football will conquer any team |
temi1290:The issue is that there is this sentiment that Cameroon and other African countries must host it. Most North African countries and South Africa have that kind of technology but they want other countries to host it. My take is that, the afcon should be shifted to June (as it has been for the last few years) and then, it should be hosted by the African country with the best technology. Cameroon can in the mean time work on their technology so that they can host the Afcon in June. Caf should give Cameroon or other African countries 5 years to acquire this technology. With time, other African countries will learn to have the capacity to host afcon in June. Cameroon cannot hold everybody to ransom because they want to host the afcon when they are not ready. The best thing is to try and develop the technology and capacity themselves |
maidaboi:One thing I appreciate Umar Sadiq for is his creativity and all round play. He allready has 7 assists this season and will definitely get to double digits in assists this season. When he was in Serbia he had 17 assists a season which is rare for any type of forward (even a midfielder. He is a better form of the france 98 el hadj diouf as he scores more goals. I can understand why clubs are after him. He is a creative forward who scores goals. His underlying stats are monstrous. In a match, Sadiq can complete 5 dribbles, create 3 chances, win a penalty and have 2 assists even if he does not score. I hope he can do it in a better division |
IDENNAA:I have explained it before. Any coach that doesn't understand our history, culture and evolution as a footballing nation will have limitations. Most foreign coaches just don't understand us |
