Strong woman. Great Woman. Silence is golden. In the eye of the storm she has remained calm. That's maturity and class. May your wisdom continue to confound your enemies. May your house bloom with success all around. This is the kind of woman worth celebrating I wish her and her family well |
5 years already... Keep on going strong. God bless your union Peter is the real MVP ,just watch as he grows bigger and more successful. God rewards faithfullness |
Weak principal weak school. Suspend the students till further notice. Let the court sort it out with the students out of school. It's not about the hijab it's about how the parents tried to enforce it in the school The normal thing would have been prior meetings and approvals before such an act happens and if the school says no change their school or go to court. But no teach the kids to protest against peace and laid down rules This bad precedent must stop |
And just so you all know, people pay themselves large salaries as part of many strategies to reduce company profits declared so as to reduce company tax payed at the end of the day. |
I get terrified when I see contributions from Nigerian youths on matters of National significance such as taxation Everyone should know about taxes. Everyone. Companies ahould pay 30percent of annual profits individuals pay as they earn. The higher you earn the more your taxes Let me help your maths anyone earning above 3 million a month will be paying over 3 million annually as personal income tax so in 3 years that's over 10million.as for company profits that means in 3 years his companies has made less than a 100million. |
I have been quiet watching the tides and tone of the election before making conclusions. Here is my prediction and why. PDP will loose the election due to poor strategy and brand management. The reason is simple, there is a large pool of Nigerians undecided on who to vote for ,they do not want to vote for Buhari, nor Atiku and there are trying to choose.Buharis die hard fans on the other hand remain unswayed he has their votes come rain or shine This same strategy of harrasing the opponent was used in their (PDP) last election when they had the power of incumbency (rather than focusing on their strengths and achievements) it backfired. That's the same strategy been used again, common sense tells me it will not work. PDP as a party and their choice of candidate Atiku are both unsellable.Tambuwal would have been a better choice. |
[i]Lesson 1:Your undergraduate experience counts Ajangbadi (not real name) as an undergraduate worked on training colleagues and office workers on MS word.He even registered a bussiness name to do the trainings. He also picked up the skillls of fixing bad phones and computers. On graduation he worked for himself for a while getting low paying jobs but he was learning this went on for 2 years. His first jobs was in a consulting firm earning less 100,000.At this time entry level persons in the bank were getting about 200,000.Remember he had been free styling for 2 -3 years before getting the consulting work.So his friends at the bank were no longer entry level but banking officers earning about 350,000 monthly. His skills at the low level jobs were valuable at the consulting firm,he also gained sector specific experience for the consulting firm writing their professional exams specific to that sector over another 2 years, still earning less than 200k a month this is now 4-5 years post graduation. Subsequently he was employed by the banks at a level higher than that of his friends (they were still at banking officers and assistant banking officer level),he started at the bank at 650-700 monthly and moved between banks again in 2 years with a higher salary. He stopped telling us how much he earned at a million monthly, and the guy has changed positions 3 more times after that with a lot of international experience to his portfolio. This is his 10-12 years post graduation. He is settled in his career and is not afraid of Job security. Undergraduate experience matters. Whatever you can do in your undergraduate years relevant to your course of study ,please do.It may be as menial as data entry for senior associates, working in the lab, internship,or working on your own for yourself.Whatever it is you can do undergraduate period counts .it serves as something to put on your CV when searching for work post NYSC,it also serves as entry point into the system later.I have picked this as my first example that if you can't volunteer for a company or firm, volunteer for your own organization, and gain job experience that counts starting before graduation I will end this note by saying a lot of Nigerians think the rich kids get employed simply because of who their Dads know, while this is true in some cases, you should also know that by the time a rich kid is through with university, his or her parents have arranged internships in different countries as experience for him or her and when you both drop your CV post NYSC all you have on it is 1 year NYSC experience in Ajangbadi High school. The rich kid has different experiences for different countries Start early, let your undergraduate days count. |
This post is inspired by an earlier discussion on nairaland about ''no jobs'' in Nigeria and poor paying jobs in Nigeria.I realize a lot of youths (graduates)erroneously believe this leading to nefarious activities such as: joining cults in school with the hope of future employment Learning low income earning skills at the expense of career path Illegal Migration genuinely thinking the grass is greener Prostitution fraud Others Inspired by the Nairaland discussions, I spoke with other colleagues and friends and realized almost everyone started from a low paying job with one as low as 7k a month On this thread I will share lessons I have learnt from myself and interacting with other professionals from diverse sectors in Nigeria.I will share stories of individuals I know and I have heard who transitioned from volunteering to real jobs. I invite anyone with positive experience transitioning from volunteering or low earning jobs to real time employment in any sector to share as well, the point is to inspire generation next,to teach them how,and to give them hope. |
anonymous96:Your mindset is your biggest barrier. Those 2 examples were Nigeria graduates both did not have a masters degree only the right certification for their industry and a lot of patience. There are many other examples. I advised another guy like that too earning 350k in a bank in Lagos for 6 years and forming cool while grumbling about everything ''you are getting redundant'' after 5 years it's time to move. He found a new place in 2 months in another state with way better pay. Truth was he was not searching before then. He just grew comfortable with his routine. What you need is exposure. An internship or 30k a month job in a carraer setting is a right starting point. A carrear is not a firm it's a set of experience you can offer that can make you move between jobs in an industry or between industries. It can also help you get employment between countries.Remember we are talking professionals here. I insist there are jobs in Nigeria for those with the right experience and God's grace. Get the right exposure, the right experience, and the right attitude then pray for grace. Remember faith without works is dead |
VeeVeeMyLuv:Let me see.. I know someone who earned 15k a month for like 2 years, his first offer after that was about 350k A month,he took the one that paid 650k. Today he earns 2.5 million a month and is looking for a better job. All in the space of 7 years I know another who started with 80k for 2 years while his mates were earning 350k at the bank. He rose faster than them starting with 650k after the 80k job today dude also earns in millions. Point is grow a career pays, it takes time, wise choices and the grace of God |
Scrapped The scheme makes no provision for the security or safety of corpers. It treats graduates like children to be abused and insulted at their first job by rude NYSC officials and others.Add absolute waste of time for those eager to start their lives. Waste of a whole year. Thankless job for that matter. If participating puts the life of 1 corper at risk then it's a good reason to scrap it entirely. I'll agree it's useful only if it's allowed to be optional. People can pay to waive it and the agency uses the money to pay corpers decently and provide emergency numbers for their extradition in an emergency. If people including NYSC staff will be prosecuted for incompetence and jailed if a corpers life is put at risk. If communities will be ransacked if a corpers is beaten or raped Lastly if a corper is free to exit at any point in the program |
largeman4u:Why stay at a position for 11 years at less than 100k and then blame the organization. Be truthful banks also pay some graduates over 12 million per annum true or false |
Threads like this are very dangerous. Because you devalue Nigerian salary more for foreign investors and others who use the internet to guage what is acceptable and what is current practice.I have seen situations were foreign firms who have agreed at partnership with 450k for fresh graduates renegade based on analysis from stupid internet here say such as this. It is unpatriotic to share half truths and you worsen the problem. I will attempt to address this here by saying: 1)Only a inexperienced graduates in a professional job setting/firm earns less than 200k. 2)it is the equivalent of an internship abroad as most Nigerians start work post NYSC with no experience. As in cannot type ordinary minutes of a meeting 3) Salaries start to increase with positions for those who take their careers seriously give or take 2-5 years 4)there are MANY jobs in Nigeria been filled with expatriates because Nigerians for some strange reason I am still trying to figure out do not apply for them. Others just settle without professional improvement or attempts to reach for a higher position or another job so you see the same fellow at the same position, salary and organization for 10 years complaining about poor salary and unkind boss. 5) there are no jobs in Nigeria (myth) 6)There are few high paying jobs in Nigeria (myth) In summary Nigerian youths are professionally lazy.If you count hawking gala on the streets hard working ,or fake ass entrepreneurial ventures do not complain of a low income. Building a carrear on the other hand takes time ,sacrifice, dedication and God's grace.it may require holding a 40k job for 2 years while building experience to strike out when the time is right. Those who sweat investing in themselves and spend time doing so reap great returns even in Nigeria, small minds sit back and grumble watching those with focus build their way through |
They are not almajiri anymore they are abandoned kids, quite convenient for the parents and Imamns too. Watch them closely and you'll see a cartel of beggers in an organized begging system. If you give any kid money there's an older child sitting somewhere calling him to collect it. Lastly girls are been seen in the pic to remember now children as young as are on the streets and some people justify this evil passionately while their own children sleep in the comfort and safety of their own homes It happened in Brazil. The children became robbers commiting brazen crines and were killed by the communities. We must not get to that stage The solutions are simple Get the Koranic school agreeing to the almajiri system or Imamns to be registered. All children within their system must also registered. They must also be able to account for the children with them. Spot checks to be conducted on the Imamns and random children on the street. If the children can't identify the school or Imam they belong to they are abandoned children and should be taken of the streets. If an unregistered child with no home is found in a school call it kidnapping Lastly NGOs philantropists and academic centers should copy the American university Nigeria system where the kids collate everyday for learning basic schooling, how to brush and take care of themselves. They are fed once a day and organizations like shop rite have been known to donate feeding items to the program. This gives them(the children) a chance in future.other organizations must join accredited centers in providing for programs such as this Please remember abandoned kids are the responsibility of the community. To stem this ugly trend everyone must act now. All northerners in support must show us their child that graduated from the system. |
Lazy lazy nigerian youths wanting live served to them by mommy daddy and the goverment A wise youth will reject goverment job at this stage and use the experience tostart a carrear I hope you know some people pay on this country to volunteer for relevant experience, others work for free for that period There no professional that earns millions with only Nigerian experience that did not start from the bottom. Some earning as low as 30k but knowing what mattered was the learning. The n power has given you all a platform to soar dust your cv and build on it leave the unambitious ones to be aspiring for a goverment job in this day and age that is the peak of thwir dreams |
Food for thought- 49% of the population in present day Nigeria are teenagers between 15 and 19 Is this thread promoting cultism and it's vices? It appears so,this is not good. |
Anthrophile:True ,if in doubt ask the sarakis |
Very stupid bill how many 40 yer old have ever signed up for presidency,35 for Governors and the house, you've not had representation within that bracket and you are now reducing to 25yrs. Very simple watch the decadence begin as politicians sponsor their wards into power where they can manipulate them for selfish purposes, just vote or do what xx tells you.Or yahoo boys buying the highest ticket to buy immunity or vaidity to back their lack of real job experience What young person wants to address babangid or objs yawa,it's like the rumour then of adedibu ordering the then governor of oyo to bring 14m of his security vote monthly saying he was the security of ibadan, the governor refused and he got impeached This stupid bill that puts post NYSC with no administrative experience will further weaken our country, it will make us prey to foreign manipulation for cheap. My recommendation, A proportion of representation for the house for every party must be women and youths the senate, house or corridors of the exexutive must not be lined with Nigerian youths, Even scriptures note that woe to the land whoose king is a child Perhaps we should start a new campaign its not just too young to run,but too weak to rule |
God bless them for doing the right thing those peace Corp people were trying to hijack the system of a whole country for selfish interest and they almost suceeded.I saw one was calling herself squadron leader and controlling traffic the order day squadron leader ?as in? Which training? Which discipline what rubbish. So all those that went to NDA or rose through the ranks of military and paramilitary are fools when they could just buy title from one man and be paid by th FG the next step is to arrest the man that started the nonsense on whatever charges he must have breached something I'm sure, but arrest him to serve as detergent for some yahoo boy in future not to try and use money or extortion to bend the order of things for the sake of selfish interest ever again in this country God bless Nigeria |
martineverest:I hold a different view,I believe royalty should be honoured.where the word of a king is there is power but I like what they've done with their royal family. They have used them to promote their culture and their country |
I love how the British celebrate their royal family watching live on youtube |
sammhi:I agree with you he may have had an ongoing tia at that time as well, but this is aphasia, and only the neurologists investigate and tell what the cause is. There is also a preceeding video of him with challenges complying with instructions,in summary he has a neurological condition. We should all empathise with him and his family at this time it's not about pop or apc ,it's about been decent human beings And we really need to stop dragging our countries image |
6 pages of comment and nobody not 1 picked this up as aphasia a known medical condition Seen in 25-40% of patients who recover from a stroke or tia also seen in brain tumours, brain infections, trauma to the head ,dementia amongst others there is another video of him laying a wreath at the remembrance day with challenges in cordination when they say lazy Nigeria youths you all will vex,but isn't this a sure sign of laziness, not questioning a matter for the truth but peddling lies and mocking an ill person who has served the nation at a time he may be displaying signs of illness? That said an I was said to have been hit on the head with a stone by demonstrators recently, hope it's not this man For all those mocking his situation I will say fear God |
anigold:He has a foundation TY Danjuma foundation is a major donor in taraba state and Nigeria https://www.tydanjumafoundation.org/ they are eager to sponsor activities to be conducted for the benefit of indigenes in taraba and for Nigerian individuals and children at large. They also work in partnership with other development partners such as the gates foundation, dangote foundation,e.t.c It is your duty to check rather than peddling lies as truths, you owe posterity to tell the truth, and not bear false witness it is your moral duty You should also know the bible teaches that false witnesses die young, be careful with these matters. |
God bless your courage simi Yahoo is against our values as a people, time for all celebrities to speak up against this Those that don't speak up support crime and evil ,they should be stripped of their endorsements I hope those that matter are watching this trend |
This is a man to whom honour is due May you reap good for this post else the Don Righteousness exalts a nation, core values matter. The values of a nation are the values of its people and in this day and time our values are strongly influenced by the emerging role models who are now celebrities And this power they must wield carefully for posterity and for the nation's future. We see their contributions heaven does too, Again I commend elder the Don,time for other celebrities who have a conscience to speak up,yahoo boys are robbers armed with laptops, they ruin individuals and families, they distort the scheme of things and rubbish the place of hard work. They corrupt our image, our society and our progress as a people .If in doubt ask genuine bussiness men of their experiences abroad with the green passport. They are a reproach to our land, they deserve no honour and we must all support the drive to smoke them out, |
Foreign lawyer my foot So in typical 'expatraite" manner it is expected he must be paid more than Nigerians, the crap they promote in every industry. This most stop Secondly thought this case was in court and judgement on the matter settled a long time ago on why Nigeria should hire its own lawyers, so whats the oyibos beef exactly? Perhaps another lame attempt at smearing the Nigerian Goverment by foreign entities, this really must stop, and yes Nigerian professionals are better on Nigerian issues anyday |
Pictures mean nothing,do a score card for each sector.how many pictures do you want to put up.Write total numbers achieved by location, allow the press and the community spend their time verifying it. It also helps Give useful feedback back to a serious goverment free of charge |
You all need to stop hailing Jonathan as an economic hero, it is irritating and annoying. He drained our excess crude account by about 90%, drained external reserves by about 50% Re-incurred debts that had been cleared by his predecessor While oil sold at an all time high of 100 dollars per barrel If his predecessors had done the same with 30-40 dollars per barrel how would Jonathan have managed the country? To build the Nation he should have consolidated on the gains of his predecessors (Rome was not buildt in a day).Today our reserves are growing again, our excess crude account too despite the low prices of oil,and the boys of the delta ensuring we produced at less than 50% capacity when this Government took over.So reduce whatever we were earning per barrel by half, thats the true picture. So to Reno omokri I say "Imported rice may have been 8000,but it was at the cost of the future of Nigeria". Its like those chiefs of old that sold 700 slaves ;not for ideas or inventions to build their society, they sold them for a mirror and empty bottles. In terms of economics, thats the reasoning and position of you and your hero. |
If you must borrow oyibo culture borrow it completely The tradition says if the guy is the one who calls of the engagement, the girl can keep the ring.Sometimes it's expensive family heirloom so he gets to loose it for all ingredients it off If the girl calls it off,she has to return the ring |
So you all had to wait for Mr Gates to give a review before naysayers could have an opinion on the EGRP. His critic is the only feedback on the plan I have seen anywhere and most of the comments including Reno and Ben Bruce on his observation are shallow at best Here's what I understand by his welcome feedback, the plan focuses on Physical capital and development,e.g build roads and improve rails ,achieve ,self sustainance in rice, wheat and tomatoes ,improve oil and non oil revenue generation, increase income from taxation, improve savings, etc it appears Mr Gates is arguing that our EGRP should also include Human development priorities such as Education, good health care and fighting malnutrition, Invariably he is tying successful economic growth to both physical and human development A useful feedback for the next EGRP,prioritize not just physical but both physical and human development. but in the recession the country started with one can understand why the focus appeared to be on economic indices only, you can say they started first with what can raise capital to fund human development That said ,Nigeria has not abandoned human development entirely ,the country through its Ministries departments and agencies such as health and education have their own plans dedicated to human development so the Local critics can review those before saying "nothing is happening" or just take a back seat |
This peace corps thing is a fraud,a big fraud and I wonder how we let it go so far if the authors of the bill were genuine they will propose a bill whose implementation will go through due process for government ownership. That includes stakeholder engage in leadership selection, training curriculum development, members engagement and recruitment but it's the other way round, some riffrafs form a paramilitary group, select their leadership, recruit staff and members with no state government or stakeholder involvement and now you want the organisation to be an affiliate of a government Dictated to by your by laws, and paid by Goverment, does it even make sense? The leaders of this group are plain opportunists preying on Nigerias poor rule of law and common sense,I hope someone prosecutes them on the right charges, such as fraud, acts capable of breaching the public peace etc to serve as deterrent for others in future |
