PoliticsRe: Peace Corps Members Protest In Benue, Urge Buhari To Give Assent To Peace Corps by phineas: 7:26pm On Mar 12, 2018
This peace corps thing is a fraud,a big fraud and I wonder how we let it go so far

if 5th authors of the bill were genuine they will propose a bill whose implementation will go through due process for government ownership. That includes stakeholder en age mentioned in leadership selection, training curriculum development,me needs engagement and recruitment

but it's the other way round, some riffrafs form a paramilitary group, select their leadership, recruit staff and members with no state government or stakeholder involvement and now you want the organisation to be an affiliate of a government Dictated to by your by laws, and paid by Goverment, does it even make sense?

The leaders of this group are plain opportunists preying on Nigerias poor rule of law and common sense,I hope someone prosecutes them on the right charges, such as fraud, acts capable of breaching the public peace etc to serve as deterrent for others in future
BusinessRe: Nigeria’s External Reserves Rise By 1.1% In 6 Days by phineas: 12:15pm On Feb 19, 2018
This is why I am a firm advocate for the anti power to the youths movement,I must add I qualify for the Nigeria defiantion of youth (less than 45) but youth is not an excuse for power without the necessary knowledge

On economic growth ,macro economics especially, this Government has revived Nigeria and put her back squarely on the road to development

how does this translate to more km of roads? Read about the sukuk bond,About PPP with local companies for development, all wwith a growing reserve and growing Excess crude account.

you all need to find the economic growth and recovery plan of this country developed in concert with international experts and think tanks with local content and context and see how it is been applied literary like a bible,I challenge all youths must run critics of the present government to point out its weakness and what could be better and their proposed methodology

Please be aware it takes strong politicall will to implement policies in Nigeria,so success achieved on strategies such as 100% sign up on TSA and BVN is no mean feat, even jonathan couldnt achieve it,

funds were released for ogonni clean up despite low revenues in the country, private companies such as dNgotes and otedolas amongst others sign up for partnership with Goverment on development, non oil revenue especially Agric export is increasing, leakages are been blocked in Goverment (you cant even print tshirts and ordinary bags for govt programs,or earn more than 5% working for Goverment,TSA is working group like magic so much jamb is lying on a snake)income from taxation is increasing and savings in our reserves is returning to an all time high again

So youths with beer parlour critiicsm that cannot successfully lead a primary school class on noise makers, not to talk of university think the criteria for them to be handed the country is their age should pleasentake a back seat

Lastly my free advice to the presidents media team, rather than been attack dogs in the media, please use your heads and time to develop scorecards on our development and economic plan because we have made great growth in many areas and we may not be there yet,but the fact that we are making progress on the right indices matter and we MUST not deter those working with silly demoralising speeches

This is the mindset of an average northerner, very unrealistic, and unreasonable to the south, but still his well held firm belief.A whole VC for that matter

And this is why we need to dialogue a way out of this, you can't keep fighting with fixed firm delusions such as these at the cost of human lives, there will be no winners.

only carefully orchestrated strategies to stop the culprits, agreed upon by all will work best

Lastly these are the kind of persons our security agencies should censor for careless speech,

"His university should also query his position, how do you say such publicly as a learned member of society with a revered position?

PoliticsRe: Four Quick Thoughts On The Zamfara Massacre By Farooq Kperogi by phineas: 12:13pm On Feb 17, 2018
I have logged in only to commend this post

This is the truth

we all have a responsibility to find and speak the truth
Northern Nigeria especially the North west has been ravaged by banditry for years ,whole villages have been sacked and they lie as ghost towns on the roads In these places.

These same bandits are those who robbery and pillage on the roads, anyone travelling northern roads to Nassaraw ,jos and environs may have encountered them

Presently it appears they are spreading their reach down south, and what have we done,we have labelled them as fulani herdsmen, forgetting that the very term fulani herdsmen connote a wide range of people, some of whom have Co existed with land owners for years, and everyone is labelling ALL fulani herdsmen as bandits attacking them and their families needlessly, they In return retaliate and the cycle continues.

The real culprits meanwhile (foreign bandits ) continue to cause chaos unhindered while we all fight each other, and they brazenly move their operations down south

North ,south east and west, fulani and the rest of Nigeria we all have a common enemy, they are the bandits that ravage our lqnd,we need to sit together and find a way to seive them out from our midst, the narrative matters, because only then can we work together.Silly solutions like "defend yourselves" just scratches the surface. How does a man defend his family from a marauding team with Ak 47s? We need real solutions that deal with this at the root and not ethnic or religious inflamed messages

Lastly it is our moral duty to speak the truth,it happened in Europe, an entire race (jews)were vilified and killed in millions because of the goading words of a few.I will conclude with the story of Paul.Although he did not throw the stones he held the clothes for those who did making him culpable in the death of the saints

By spinning the wrong narratives we will not find a solution, also for those supporting and edging on genocide against an entire race with Innocents within them (fulani herdsmen) remember by your very words you are culpable in any deaths that occur and their blood will also be of such a person's head
BusinessRe: Voluntary Assets And Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS): What You Need To Know by phineas: 10:22am On Feb 16, 2018
Nigeria n's are mostly irresponsible when it comes to National duty.We expect everything to be provided freely because "it is our resources"

You cannot make money from a country and not pay tax, period.Taxes have been used to build great civilizations, nations conquered others just to recover taxes from them, and here we are clamouring for growth and development ,we make money from the land but do not want to contribute our taxes.

The developed nations we all run to were built on taxes, just so you all know this is a serious initiative, like the BVN ,TSA and others the political will to implement this is sure.

Nigeria has invested time and money ensuring bilateral agreements with about 14 countries on assets of Nigeria n's abroad, trust me the finance ministry have the list.considering how Nigerians are like termites in property aqquisition, if you have properties anywhere or assets that don't match your taxes in country,,make use of the window period and regularize your tax status with no penalties or be prepared to forfeit them..

P'S I have no affiliations with Government, I know all this cos I listen closely to the Minister and her team speak on this for the last 2 years, nobody has any excuse for non compliance
EducationRe: Management Of Chrisland School Release Statement Over Child Molestation Case by phineas: 12:36pm On Feb 14, 2018
To the Chris land school

While i commend the support given to your staff and your belief that he is innocent until proven guilty (a very unexpected response from a Nigeria organization). This is important so a precedence of any child accusing an adult without a fair trial is not allowed to stand

However this statement could have been written in a better wat.It does not empathise with the accuser who happens to be a child and clearly paints the suspect and the school as a victim.

that is not taking sides.Clearly the school has taken a side from this statement.this was their golden opportunity to reassure us on their measures to ensure child saftey, they chose instead to blame the parents of the child and others

This is not good for the image of an educational institution trusted to protect children

Where they peaceful in their agitations?

It is true no sane Government will allow secession in its land, but they must meet all the criteria to be handed over such as been a violent group and all

Otherwise we suppress the voices of opposition and remove the option of negotiation for progress for disenfranchised groups in Africa.

The illiteracy on display here is baffling,

For the record "it takes a village" is an adage that shows appreciation for the role of others in a person's success. Its used to express that success took the contribution of others

For example;"it takes a village to raise a child" a successful child at graduation appreciative of the efforts of all his uncles, aunts and everyone will say "it took a village"
PoliticsRe: Names Of 73 Benue Indigenes Killed In Herdsmen Attack by phineas: 4:58pm On Jan 13, 2018
@seun,

You need to pull down threads like this asap.

I understand that the people of Benue are grieving right now,but topics such as this and the careless comments of Nigerians are capable of inciting bigger issues that may be difficult to contain thereafter.

Let us remember a certain number of unharmed fulanis were also killed last week by Benue millitants, they also had families, they have names and photos, their inability to promote their stories on social media does not make them less Human, their inability to raise a crowd in protest does not make their loss less painfull to their families

Fulani Herdsmen=Nomadic Fulani

Not all Nomadic Fulani are killers, and these messages and unguarded comments promotes violence towards an entire race.

@ seun is that the legacy you really want for yourself and your conscience?

We must all find a solution,a way forward, inciting violence isnt the answer, neither is a one sided approach to the story or expression of grief, access to justice is important for both the Fulanis as it is important for the TIVs

While we all condole with the TIV people,I implore us all to be careful in our comments moving forward, National peace and stability should be foremost on our minds,as patriots, leaders, religious persons and Statesmen, this is our duty

I am amazed by the comment coming out from some of us in this forum. Is comment like this that gave our leaders the audacity to treat nigerians as slaves in their country. If the country is such a fantastic place to be , would they 've left? A lot of us have been jobless for many years before the gov't came up with n power program with 30 k stipends every month. Can one in all honest tell us what 30 k can do in the life of an independent graduate? The worst part of it is that they Fran at any suggestion that talks about making beneficiaries permanent staff. Until we change our orientation and accept that no life is better than they other the only difference is the opportunity each life has. Shame to the gov't who gave such a shameful amount that cannot feed some dogs in my neborhood?
Another lazy Nigeria youth spotted.30k is about 100 dollars a month thats okay for anyone who wants a start in life and it's not about the money. Its about the platform to build experience to launch out in life. The edo returnees meanwhile were Illegal migrants abroad.those are the ones spoiling the image of an entire race and yes it has repercussions.

While I agree rehabilitation is important,in view of limited funds 1000 naira is easy enough to get them anywhere in edo.The churches, mosques, philanthropists and people like yourself should take over the rest of the rehabilitation. Not everything should be left to Goverment

And on the n power 30k a mo th no one gave me that opportunity as a young professional in Nigeria. In fact I worked for almost free for 4 years just to understand a sector gain the right experience. No one created that platform I did,I sear he'd spoke to sneak ones applied and took opportunities I found. It was difficult ,today my professional fees is in hundreds of thousands per day

This entitled mentality must stop, everyone must start somewhere and grow. And those who seek a shortcut 9th look down on others should be shunned. There is dignity in labour. And the N power program must be commended for creating opportunities for that needed car rear growth for the youths

Have you read the EGRP?

The same EGRP that took 20 months to put together. Or how is it going to be funded when implementation of the 2017 budget is less than 30%.

What areas does it want us to be self-sustainable in?

Oil--it's counting on Dangote's refinery, which may not come online until 2020.
Rice--Rice revolution had already started in 2013. We already recorded more than 60% reduction in rice import by 2015. By the time the EGRP was unveiled, it was already a success as CBN complimented the past administration's efforts with the launch of the Anchor's Borrowers Plan.

What else does it have. 5% growth rate? We were at 7% growth rate in 2013.

Buhari and his administration is a disaster. A bunch of class 3 pupils would do better.

Talking like the EGRP is some magical blueprint.

-Lord
This is how I know you are uneducated or a waste of education

let me give you a brief lecture

A plan is the most important document for an individual organisation or country aiming for progress.
For example if you want to get out of your present level of stupidity you draw up a 2018 "bringing Lord out of stupidity plan"

2.The plan should have clear Goals and objectives ,clear strategies on how to get there.Such a plan should have roles and responsibilities of everyone listed, plan source of funding for its implementation and how to measure progress towards its achievement..Our National plan is been implemented. It explains many activities of this government and the projects we are borrowing to implement

What was your Oga GEJ so plan. That is the true blue print to measure his success at the end of his tenure.

3.This administration has its plans 2017_2020 listed clearly.I don't have the time or the space and it's Christmas's. It will require an entire thread. You on the other hand need to get an education on how to review a document

1. Middle eastern oil producers have tiny population, and produce a lot of oil.

The UAE has ten million people, and produces 3 million BPD of crude.Saudi has eleven million and produces 11 million BPD. Nigeria has 170 million and produces 2.2 million BPD of crude.

2.GEJ did not drain the reserve by 90% and he did try to get agriculture rolling.I am not a fan of him or his party, and he certainty kept us oil dependent, but he was not that awful. Could have done much better though.

3.Pmb needs to deregulate the oil downstream sector, and get us on the road to industrial development, then I will start looking at him with a good eye

In the middle eastern countries,1 country built 4 futuristic cities with their windfall.(Imagine building the equivalent of 4 cities far greater that Abuja with their windfall)

In Nigeria what did we do, we declared there was a rainy day and couldn't pay salaries during the Jonathan regime and drained the excess crude account by about 80-90%.The countries foreign reserve was also drained by about 50%.(the exact percentages are still been argued but we should have had a full stash not drained bank accouts)

How does that explain this man's place in history.

I respect all leaders.Leading Nigeria is not easy.He had his strengths but the economy was not it.The General has done way better and is doing way better with the economy

Next year will be better and Nigeria n's had better thank God and his economic team for it.

Last word-my advice to you all is to go an pay your taxes
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan's Christmas Message And Reactions From Nigerians by phineas:
Also to add that when oil was around 25 dollars in January 2017.The boys of the delta made sure we were producing at 50% capacity.that means our proceeds from oil was as good as 10dollars plus per barrel.Add that to the stolen excess crude account and drained foreign reserve under supervision of you know who and you can explain dollar to nairn prices.

Rice is also expensive because we are boosting local production. To ensure our local farmers and the country achieve self sufficiency in rice you tax foreign importation heavily. The problem is supply of local rice is yet to meet demand. But eventually we will a have equilibrium in rice demand and supply ,be self sustaining in rice and keep our precious money in country

I hope you all know that China was able to move a lot on individuals from low class to middle income level on Rice production only

Nigeria n's are smiling to the bank on Rice.Next year will be better,Rice mills are been established all over subsidised by Government. Better ask your Governors to cash in for your youths sake. But to reverse this trend, that will not happen, wailers will do well to get on board

I just saw the picture of a nice looking reverend sister above, who also had to remove her robe and headcover to accomodate her wig for their ceremony.
Its not about the Hijab,Its about her method of protesting the policy ban on headscarves, wigs, braided hair etc.

I insist it was lawlessness on her part "capable of breaching the public peace"

She should know better as a learned person, she should have written letters, gone to the court, done activities before that day,not refuse like a petulant child to be called to bar on the school rules (which you have not contested ethically) and turn around and blame the school.

Laws can be changed, but due process must be followed.

For that act alone she deserves not to be called to bar

Another Ilorin person....
So Evil thrives when good men stay silent, thats the only reason I will speak on this matter.

As a legal practitioner, the lady who started this controversy should demonstrate that she had explored all legal and advocacy based solutions before her individual protest at the bar.

She must have written the school seeking permission
Petitioned the courts for the rights to wear her hijab under her wig
Written a letter to the Head of school
Raised a petition with 1000 signatuures

If she had done any of these or any thing at all to support her cause and was denied, then are actions are permissible and justified

If not, her actions fall in the category of lawlessness "capable of breaching the public peace". A learned one should know better and her education and graduating institution should be called to question. Afterall its about learning and character.

Peace is a fragile thing, we should teach younger ones due process, we should not reward gangsterism and hooliganism against set laws, laws can be changed modified and adapted, but the how matters .This ladies actions sets precedence and the response of those in authority matter because it sets a tone that such actions are acceptable and the dangerous spiral of lawlessness capable of breaching fragile peace is justified

No one should support that, the lady in question as a learned one should know better, others who seek to follow in her steps ought to do better.

Lastly I suggest the authorities to look closely at activities and messages in the University of Ilorin capable of radicalizing the younger generation into lawlessness capable of breaching the public peace
