PoliticsRe: Army Denies Complicity In Jos Killings, Says Jang Is Naive by Pk001(m): 2:27pm On Mar 11, 2010
muhsin:
Jang is the biggest naive I ever know among top government officials in Nigeria.

He does not know his work; he's not a governor for one group of people, his tribe but for all living in Plateau.

The guy is so opinionated, so shameless, and so lax.

He should be impeached right-away!
Shut up! Jang doesn't even need to talk before we know that the military have Failed.
With the military controlling all the security operations in Jos after January attack and still things like this could still happen after about a month. Then the military commander is incompetent. He suppose to work with security reports on regular bases, not to send soldier harassing innocent civilians and collecting bribes while the MAI SUYAS and MAI TOMATO pass with weapons of mass distruction.

“I make bold to say that if we should put all violent acts being perpetrated all over the world by Americans and the ones Muslims commit on a scale, we would surely see that those being committed by the US citizens outweigh those they claim Muslims committed. But as Muslims we should try to change this negative attitude they have towards us. We can change this by showing them the beauty of our religion”, he said.
This sultan doesnt know how sensitive his position is. Instead of him to talk to his people and tackle the wrong doing some them are doing, he is busy comparing evil acts. He is indirectly instigating his fellow muslim brothers to continue to do evil as long as it doesnt surpass that of America and co. Is that the way forward? I am really disappointed by the Sultans comment. Two wrongs can never make right

PapaBrowne:
Nonsense talk!!

Why is it a crime in your books for a Nigerian to own an oil block??
Shell, Chevron, and all sorts of oil companies have numerous oil blocks.
They drill the oil and send 40% per cent of the proceeds to their own countries which is then used to build their infrastructures, pay dividends to their investors, give loans to their citizens etc.

T.Y Danjuma is not like the average General. He has always been an astute business man. Oil is not his only source of income. He sits on the board of numerous blue chip companies. He is a professional and a very well respected one at that.
His presence in the Advisory committee would provide guidance in areas like defense and security. There is no person more suitable than T.Y.

The pedigree of members of the Advisory council is without question extremely excellent. A list where you have the likes of Fola Adeola, Maryam Uwais, Emeka Anyaoku, Barth Nnaji, M.D Yusuf, Kaase Lawal, Basil Omiyi- these are folks that have excelled beyond their peers!

The selection of these fellows speaks volumes about Jonathan. The man has a knack for excellence!!
I agree with you strongly. This selection is in the right track.
TY Danjuma is respected General and People should not just condemn him for owning an oil well. He is Nigerian and he is entitled to that as long as he can afford it.

PoliticsRe: River Niger Project Puts Jonathan Into Trouble by Pk001(m): 12:16pm On Feb 27, 2010
Beaf:
Jonathan hasn't gaffed. The shorelines need to be bolstered first, only then can dredging can begin. We are educated people lets not fall for cheap propaganda.
Some are saying both can be done simultaneously. How?
How much sense does it make to start dredging (which will immediately begin washing away shorelines and destroying coastal ecologies) only to begin strengthening shorelines and ecologies after they have been washed away? It just doesn't make sense.
Accepted
What Jonathan actually did was not to suspend the dredging of river Niger as a whole but of the lower Niger which in fact hasnt started. We sshould recall that the dredging of the lower Niger has been resisted by the Niger deltans because an enviromental impact assesement has not been carried out as they said. So the dredging of upper and lower Niger couldnt start simultenously. I know for sure they will continue to resist if nothing is done to protect their enviroment. Thats why Jonathan channelled the money for lower Niger dredging to shoreline protection while the dredging of upper Niger continues. The plan is that, at the completion of shoreline protection there will be no reason for the Niger deltans to resist the dredging of the lower Niger, so the work can go on smoothly.(well, my thoughts)
PoliticsRe: Constitution Ammended: Presidents & Governors Must Hand Over Before Vacations by Pk001(m): 2:36pm On Feb 25, 2010
aisha2:
Yes oh, I watched the sittings and voting live on NTA was really impresed with the Senators and Senate President. There Comes a time in a mans life when you have to be a man or woman and make your stand clear, the Senate President was very clear and upset at being taking for granted by the president, and the senators made their stand known indiviually, i was especially happy that the senate president made them all vote one by one so every one will answer his fathers name and so no one can hide behind a voice vote. Yesterday the Senate showed that even them had had enough of disrespect and disregard. The best part was when a senator raised an order that the debate should be discontinued since the president is back and David mark said the senate is not aware that the president traveled or that he has returned. That the Senate does not work on rumours or misinformation but on written letters and being officially informed but since the president disregarded them they will also show no regards
My main concern now is the house of Reps under Bankole, I just dont get it with Mr Speaker, I had always though David mark was the Yes Man but yesterday and for over a month now i have seen a different side of him. When people listen and do the right thing, then they deserve our praise. So i say thank you to the 89 Senators for waking up and amending section 144 and section 190, it was really a proud and historical moment for me yesterday.
Funny thing is that most Nigerians wont follow and understand this they will just spread rumours and misinformation. Even when this was being voted on yesterday a l;ot of people who i thought should watch the proceedings and see how their senators voted were not interested instead they will browse in and out and go out and misinform others. so who is ignorant now, the leaders or the followers. Good work Nigerian Senate
aisha 2, i agree with very much. I think the senators deserve our praise especially David Mark. I literally stood up yesterday clapping for them when i heard their uninanimous decision. They all spoke with one voice about the constitution. The part i liked most was when they said they are not aware that the president is back. That shows that they respect the constitution. Haba, some group of people should not just be playing with the intelligence of 150million Nigerians all in the name of power which actually belongs to God. Stop this shit, u surely can't go far with it.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan To Remain In Charge While Yar'adua Recovers by Pk001(m): 4:17pm On Feb 24, 2010
Yaradua has no right to dictate whether Jonathan should remain in office or not, because he wasn't the the one that made him acting President. The only thing he can do is to write the house of assembly informing  them that he has fully recovered. It is  only the national assembly that will return him back as president after receiving the letter. Goodluck Jonathan remains President till that is done!!

Why would he? Give one good reason why a governor would personally brutalise a helpless individual,  Even the so called powerful in Imo State has never complained of harassment from the state government. This is another cheap blackmail!
TechBoy or Whatever, the Governor empowered you  and you registered on Nairaland today just to defend the atrocities of the governor. If all you are saying are not cooked up or lies, post them with your original Nland ID so that we will be able ascertain the nature of your postings.
Dont come here and be defending the governor, already the samuelson has gotten a human right activist to fight on his behalf. So leave the governor to be defending himself in court. At the end we will know who is cooking up stories.
PoliticsRe: Pastor Tunde Bakare Eyes Presidency! by Pk001(m): 5:50pm On Feb 20, 2010
Sunny_bobo:
Your post above suggests that our so called men of God are failures since it is evident that they have been unable to direct the affairs of the nation from their pulpits in the face of the boko harams, the kalo katos and the recent Jos crisis.

Dude, me thinks is high time we came out of the cocoon of religion and face reality.

God will not come down from heaven and take action for us . It is left for we Nigerians to step out and take actions that will influence the political situation in the country. Rev. Martin Luther King did not remain on the pulpit to effect change in the system neither did Desmond Tutu.
I dont really like threading words on this platform, all I try to do is to air my views. First of all the way you sounded by saying "so called men of God" shows that you don't really believe there are men of God in this country. If that is your view, i guess you are wrong. Have you ever imagine how this country would have been if men of God weren't interceding for this country. A lot of things have been averted because of prayers , which you and I may not know.
When issues like this comes up, the next thing is comparison with Martin Luther King and Desmond Tutu. People forget the fact that upon all the vocal campaigns of this two great men, things didn't just change like that. Believe it or not, back behind the scene there were people praying for things to change. I agree with you, It is natural if you are push to the world you turn back and face the challenge because no where to run. It has been in record that freedom fighters are usually not good leaders, because people expects much from them when they come into power and they are trapped by the very thing they preached against.
There is really nothing much they can achieve, because the character of the leaders are the reflection of the people they govern. If there is something to be changed, I think it is the ideology. People need to be influenced by the right people and that's what I am talking about.
Instead of denting your image by coming out to contest for a position which for sure you will not win( ask others that tried), concentrate on fulfilling your calling by preaching the right words that will build the entire nation and give a national ideology. I still say it, to contest for President as a Pastor is a demotion. Some may argue this, but you should know that some were "sent" while others just "went" and either way God is still happy with both, but their results are certainly different.
PoliticsRe: Pastor Tunde Bakare Eyes Presidency! by Pk001(m): 1:38pm On Feb 20, 2010
Imagine what this man is saying all because of Politics. He said he is Tunde Bakare first then he is a Pastor. As true as this may sound, he has already misplaced them. As a "called" man of God, his office as a Pastor supersedes his person as Tunde Bakare. Being Tunde Bakere simply means he can do anything the natural man does, and that's wrong, because as a man of God he needs to live by example. For instance he should not be seen anywhere because some things can corrupt the anointing on him, that's the truth.
Well I am only saying this because if as a man of God you contest for a public office which is not bad, but it means you are demoting yourself. I expect a man of God to nurture people that will influence the affairs of nation positively through the God sent words he is given. As a man of God, he doesn't even need study law or politics to know politics, these can be reveal to him by By God himself and that's why he is "Called". As a Pastor, you can direct the affairs of the nation from your pulpit, by putting more to prayer and ministry of the word of God. Even if he contest he wont win, period!

PoliticsRe: Dora Rejects Aondoakaa's Apology by Pk001(m): 3:49am On Feb 16, 2010
Make she go rest. Even if apologised properly, it would still be twisted to mean he has accepted the allegation levelled against him as in the context of his speech. Thats is why he only chose to correct the general perspective view of  his speech and clarify it. Remember he is a lawyer, whether charge and bail or road side,  I bet you with clarification he made on his speech, even if she charge him to court she will never win. So let her just take that as an apology and move on. The man knows his mistake, and Nigerians know  Madam Dora of NAFDAC. Well it is a lesson for him, next time he will only talk from one compass side of his mouth. Maybe he should only be talking from South Pole in future

MrCrackles, watch as it unfolds.
First, Waziri goes.
Second,
the courts would be allowed to judge fairly on the suits brought by the shareholders, CEO's etc against the CBN and vice versa.
Third, the shareholders/CEOs win their cases and CBN has to comply with the court decision. The CEO's however won't be allowed to return 2 the banks, which I think is fair.
Fourth, Sanusi is angry and frustrated because he can't go further with his plans. All his plans are questioned by the new executive.
Fifth,
He is fed up and resigns.
Watch as the next two quarters play themselves out.
Check out the profile of the new AGF and you will get the message.
I wish all these happens soonest. I never liked Mallam Sanusi's approach to the banking reforms, it only shows where his sentiments are. The banks weren't at their best state at the time he came into office, but they were certainly not going to collapse as he claimed. He showed complete arrogance in his approach. He weakened the confidence  of Nigerian populace in their bank, and exaggerated the whole situation without considering the economy. I hope, he will be thought the right thing or shown the way ought. This madam Farida sef, she goes into action without considering the legality and forgets about the Real ones she suppose to be pursuing.
PoliticsRe: Will Regional Parties Change Nigeria? by Pk001(m): 2:23pm On Feb 09, 2010
DatNiggaAk:
I have the feeling that if APGA/PPA controls he South East,
AC or AD (if it still exist) controls the South West,
ANPP holds sway in the North East,
the middle belt has it's own party and the North has it's own paRTY
Nigeria's democracy would grow and the economy will benefit.
one single party will not be dominant because the lower and upper houses will be composed of various parties and not a single majority.
electing a president will result in power sharing among the various parties and if any party pulls out of the power sharing agreement, that government will fall apart and new elections will have to be held.
that means, all the regions will be well taken care off.
each party will want to outdo the other in order to prove that their party is better.
this will lead to development and improvement in the standard of living of those in that region.
remember Awolowo back in the days and what he did in the western region?
he pushed that region forward educationally.
Then PDP controls the whole regions put together

^oh please PDP is guilty of every name they've been called and more. Those guys are a disgrace to democracy. Saying that dosen't make me 'anti-pdp'. I'm not a politician, but I know rigging is not APGA's style.
The fact that you hate PDP doesnt mean that other political parties are saints and PDP is not capable of producing  good candidates. It is clear in this case that the person caught is From APGA. If that is a false allegation ,APGA should come out boldly and deny that he is not their member. The problem is not PDP but the political system. Every party tries its best to outdo the others using all possible means, legitimate and illegitimate. So dont sit here defending APGA as if you are in their inner caucus.  Not all states ruled by PDP are not gorvern well, likewise not all states ruled by AC are govern well. We should see beyond the party and support  true democracy To the fullest. From the way you are talking, i doubt if u ever voted for in an election in Nigeria. Thats the first step to start, instead of sitting here and blaming PDP for the sins of APGA!

In a free and fair election Soludo will win

In a free and fair election Ekwunife will win

In a free and fair elections Andy Uba will win

In a free and fair election Ukachukwu will win and so on and so forth

What the above tells me is that regardless of who wins on Saturday there will be at least 5 other camps who will say the election was rigged because their preferred candidate did not win

How will a country's democracy flourish in an atmosphere like this?
I agree with you strongly. This is one of the biggest problems with Nigerian electorate, even before casting votes, some candidates and electorate believe that the election will be rigged. So no matter how fair the election is , as far as their party doesn't win , the election is assumed to be rigged. This is sad and Nigerians need to change our mentality.
Let us be optimistic and believe that something good can come out of our elections no matter the person that wins.

Wow, then a minister really need to be exceptionally intelligent to figure out that the most likely questions to be asked during an interview to any foreign minister would typically be the two most embarrassing issues to nigeria- underwear bomber and MIA president.

What did Ojo Maduekwe expect the man to ask him- if Ojo wanted tea?
If you watch the complete interview, you will discover that Ojo Maduekwe was never off balance in the interview. He was only carefull not to say anything that can be misinterpreted by the western media. Infact his response to the allegation of Nigerian being corrupt put the interviewer off balance, and i think that is good. It is unfortunate that they only left 2.57mins video for everybody to see and feel Nigerians dont know what they are doing. Why didnt BBC leave that part that he challenged the interviewer of being part of Nigerian problem by not reporting his false allegation that he was demanded bribe at  Nigerian airport. I watched the complete interview and i feel Ojo madwuekwe did his job well on that platform. Nigeria is in trying times and one false or misguided comment can send he wrong signal to the rest of the world. Here is the link again, i hope they allows Nigerian to see the complete interview.

Fellow Nairalanders we should understand that this is HARDtalk. Any question can come from anywhere which u may not be ready for. Ojo Mmaduekwe did well by defending what he believes. He may not be very eloquent, but at the same time he was very careful not to put himself in trouble by the way he answered. I like the way he responded when asked about corruption. He silenced the interviewer( Johnathan)by showing him  that he is part of the problem. Just watch the complete interview complete on this link.
