Jogi Low na weyrey. It's bad enough he picks his nose in public, he now sniffs his ****. Dude's lack of hygiene has always been a case but now i'm seriously worried. Comfortable victory over Ukraine. Could have been better but Germany never really looked in danger of losing. Goetze was disappointing. Waiting to see if Low sticks with him for the Poland game. |
Matchday for Die Mannschaft. It will be interesting to see who Low goes with upfront. I'm not too comfortable with the situation at RB. Hopefully that does not end up being Germany's weakness as much of Ukraine's threat will come down the wings. Hector - Yarmolenko is one match-up i'm looking forward to. |
The Renato Sanches deal was a pleasant surprise but i'm not happy we paid over the top for him. Kid has only played top-level football for 6 months. He has got talent, though. Personally, i wouldn't have gone for him. We are well stocked in midfield and i don't see Sanches bringing anything new to the table aside from being a Vidal 2.0. What happens to Hojbjerg? I don't think another loan spell will be beneficial for his development. And then there is Kimmich. Rode will most likely leave. He has wasted 3 years of his career at Bayern. Now that Hummels is coming, Martinez will probably shuttle between back-up CB and midfield. Apparently Sammer and Reschke haven't thought it wise on finding a worthy replacement for Lahm. He is not getting any younger and is not going to play on forever. There are not too many quality RBs out there but either one of Bellerin or Carvajal will do. |
This one wey we get many visitors ehn. Title party delayed again for another week. Gladbach don turn something for Bayern hand. No win in our last four meetings. Attention turns to the Atleti game on Tuesday. |
No trashing this time around for Bremen. Treble dream getting closer by the day. Eyes on Atletico next week. |
Another drab game. Another 1-nil win. *sigh* |
Gotze's story is a sad one. I like the boy but the truth must be told. He lacks the hunger and intensity needed to succeed at a top club like Bayern. Questions have been raised regarding his attitude and even Der Kaiser once went as far as labelling him mentally weak. We've been waiting for 3 years and nothing has changed. This has nothing to do with Pep or his mgt style. Almost all Bayern players have made considerable improvement since Pep took over. Even Boateng and the much maligned Rafinha. Only Goetze has regressed. Back at BVB, there was no pressure. They were busy playing underdog-overachievers. That brought out the best in him. Here at Bayern, it's a different world entirely. |
Phew! Juve gave us quite the scare. Even, after the match, my adrenaline and BP levels kept running. The first 30 mins was like a horror flick. The defence was all over the place. Toks na my guy but he needs to work on his concentration. He looked shaky and was at fault for the first goal. It's starting to become a habit. Coman staking a claim for a starting shirt. Ribery was disappointing for me, always trying to do too much and didn't take any shots. I wonder why Pep let him stay that long. |
MrLouisVanGaal:Hehehe! ![]() |
Is it me or is Schweini a bit overweight? |
I'm digging the new look 'big guy-small guy' centerback pairing of Benatia and Kimmich. Kinda reminds me of Italy's Matrix-Canna combo of the good old days. Speaking of Kimmich, i'm happy for him. He has been my fave Bayern player in recent weeks. Kid plays with such calm and confidence that belies his age. Anyone remember that cheeky lob on Pogba at the edge of the box vs Juve? That had my mouth wide open. Or that last-man tackle to deny Reus. That boy will go places. The win against Bremen was our biggest since the turn of the year. Could be signs the team is finally getting back to its best. Bring on Juve! |
Boateng should be the last person giving advice or tips on how to stop Messi, CR7 et al. Talk is cheap. All this analysis did not stop him from bowing to the power and supremacy of Lionel Messi. Airmark, abeg wey that gif? ![]() |
Ramuzaki . Una no go kill persin for this thread . |
Guus Hiddink finally tastes his first defeat as Chelsea manager. E don tey small wey i party for hia. Mr DJ, abeg play me 'Lorile' by X-Project, make i take am shake body small. To my homie Airmark, e go beta . |
Abeg, is mask-wearing the new fashion craze among Chelsea players or what? These days one can hardly watch Chelsea games without catching one or two players wearing masks. Azpilicueta, Matic and Diego Costa are just some of the players to have donned the mask this season. Forget the usual excuse of facial injury, there is something else going on. Or are the boys just trying to channel their inner Halloween spirit? The Torres 'Zoro' mask was a hit with the fans. Could it be another marketing scheme with the club trying to replicate the success by getting the players to wear masks, injury or not. |
E don finally happen! It was only a matter of time before the chronic crock Holger Badstuber succumbed to yet another season-ending injury. The guy case don tire me. |
Just in case anyone forgot, the Tiger Woods of English football is yet to score a goal from open play this season. Dude couldn't even get in on the party yesterday. How the mighty has fallen! |
airmark:I dey tell you! . The stars are already aligning. Last time we won the treble, we announced a managerial change halfway through the season and we lost Kroos to a season-ending injury. Robben came in and the rest is history. Alago's injury could be the best thing to happen to Bayern this season. |
Jisos Kraist! Omo see punches flying left, right and centre. Na so thread don turn arena. Airmark na baba weyrey. I swear your own straitjacket ehn na designer . As for me, na spectator i be. Moving on to more important things. It's Matchday away to Hamburg. Not expecting much from the boys. They look a bit rusty and it might take a while before they get the groove going. Nonetheless, i expect nothing less than a win. |
Me just dey observe. . . |
Looks like Pep won't be extending his contract. But i'm not surprised. The rumors have been gathering pace since last winter. There has been talks of him signing a pre-contract with City. We will just have to wait and see. Winning the treble like Heynckes did would be just the perfect way to sign off. |
Well i'm back! On a second thought, do Makalele and Busquets count as 'underappreciated geniuses'? Claude Makalele, yes underappreciated at Real Madrid but a 'genius'? Don't make me laugh. When you think Makalele, words that come to mind are 'brawn', 'destroyer', 'brute force', 'tough-tackling'. These words are not exactly synonyms for 'genius'. Busquets was a mainstay of a Barcelona side that dominated Europe for years and the Spanish team that won 3 major cups in 4 years and he is widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the world. So we can rule out him being underappreciated. While Busquets is an intelligent player, i don't think he is exactly a genius like Andrea Pirlo. These are just two players who are very good at their job. Shikena. |
Gotta run guys.I don't think i've spent so much time online as today. Running on a tight schedule. It was fun doing this but i will be back later. Just before i go. he called his philosophy the "Zidanes and Pavons" U I have a problem with this. Perez goal was to integrate world-class, renonwned stars with home grown products..Zidane from one side Pavon on the other. It had less to do with names or popularity. I am out! |
2. ZDENEK ZEMAN Most followers of the Italian game will remember this man for his crazy attacking tactics. He is a big proponent of the saying ‘attack is the best form of defense’. Zdenek Zeman’s teams were uber-attacking but terrible defensively. Neutrals would love to watch his team play. I particularly remember his days at Pescara back in Serie B where he helped them to Serie A promotion. It was under his tutelage that the trio of Marco Veratti, Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile rose to prominence. His time at Roma wasn’t so good and he was finally fired. He will never be revered as Arrigo Sacchi or Helenio Herrera but that still doesn’t take anything away from the fact that he helped introduced an attacking brand of football to a league formerly known for its ‘stiffness’ or boring football. Hats off to another unappreciated tactical great. |
raumdeuter:Your post is open to interpretation. What was i supposed to think. You didn't state which one you were going to pick so I naturally assumed you were referring to the Regista thingy. Nihilist:I discussed this earlier. His works have been adopted by several coaches and even some of these tacticians pay homage to him. As i said earlier on the Chelsea thread, i would not cheat. Everything i put up there was straight from my head and knowledge of the game. You fit carry charm come i go swear on top am . |
First part of the post Football's underappreciated genuises The game is rife with figures who have continued to confound fans and players alike with their ground-breaking and innovative works in tactics and management. Some like Pep Guardiola are celebrated and idolized the world over .Others remain in obscurity and continue to do their job , underappreciated and away from the spotlight. Here are my thoughts on Football’s most underappreciated geniuses. First up is the one they call El Loco, Marcelo Bielsa MARCELO BIELSA Fondly referred to as El Loco, the Argentine is something of a mad genius. Tactical innovations and attacking football are synonymous with this man. Pep Guardiola once referred to him as the ‘master’. His philosophy of attacking with six players and pressing are revered across the world of football. His style and blueprint have adopted by many managers notably Pep Guardiola, Jorge Sampaoli, his successor at the Chile national team. Most of the success enjoyed by the South American nation is as a result of the groundwork laid by Bielsa. He has also coached at Athletic Bilbao, where he led them to an Europa League final and Spanish cup finals. His signature formation is the 3-1-3-3/3-4-3 which Guardiola has toyed with this season at Bayern Munich Most players say he is difficult to work with while others praise him. His style has often been criticized for its physical demands and the toll it takes on players. But for all his great work and contribution to the game, major success has eluded him. He is yet to win the UEFA Champions league or any major competition. Ask most football fans today who Marcelo Bielsa is and all get is a blank expression. Truly an under appreciated great of the game. |
raumdeuter:Did you just call Makalele a regista or WHAT?? **Modified** I see you were talking about football's underrated geniuses. Fear be don catch me.No vex ![]() |
pelvicky:Currently writing . . I will be back with my posts. |
raumdeuter:Ok.Here are some: Football's underappreciated genuises Evolution of the center-back position The Regista The raumdeuter effect |
raumdeuter:Oya you go first. Any topic of your choice. |
raumdeuter:Funny how most of the topics you put up are in the 90's era. I'm no old man like you but i'm sure i can do this. I'm game! |
raumdeuter:Since we are both Bayern Munich fans, it is only fitting that this takes place on our thread. Oya let's head home! |
