Naijahelm:I agree with FFK 1000℅. Again, we have a court jester like Ngige, a professional fool, an Aso Rock domestic goat, telling us that Igbos should bow down to the milkthief, not even the cows that produce the milk, in order to get droplets of milk. ![]() What a very shameful specimen of human being. |
seunmsg:Oh gosh! I see that your eyes are still glued tight, hard to open. You don't seem to get it. BUHARI is the trojan Horse. Buhari and his fellow feudal oligarchs feel that they must keep power by any means, democratic or military. Now that Buhari is too incapacitated to govern, the only clever way his feudal kinsmen would guarantee staying in power and subverting the Constitutional provisions would be to create anxiety, chaos , even violence throughout much of the country, and then VOILÀ! The military invites themselves in to RESTORE order , ..by suspending the Constitution.Do you get the plot right now ? Burutai's was just flying a kite, to test and gauge the atmosphere, to condition our minds for what might very well be a well planned, inevitable eventuality. Now, why should we not blame Buhari for what is turning out to be a trip back in time ? If Buhari had taken the path of honour and patriotic duty to resign and return the Trust reposed on him by Nigerian voters, would be here speculating on the impending chaos or disaster at our doorsteps ? Try to think rationally for once, and do away with this childish name-calling. |
fulanimafia:Yeah. Congrats to you that your kinsmen are celebrated as the third (or is it second) deadliest terrorist group in the world. And I wonder how many of my kinsmen are regularly beheaded in good ol Saudi Arabia for ferrying powder , as you call it. ![]() And you have the temerity to speak where I do ? |
gberra:That's the part of the Constitution that mandates a transfer of power to the vice President if and when the President becomes physically or mentally incapacitated to perform his duties as president. Now, is there any doubts in anyone's mind that Buhari has become incapacitated, and unable to discharge his presidential duties ? ![]() |
IamaNigerianGuy:Thank you very much for reminding him and his like , the people that time forgot. They never fail to make Nigeria a laughing stock. |
What a load of crap. So the President is undergoing hospital treatment in London, the DETAILS of which Kachikwu DOESN'T know, even though he is a cabinet minister. And then the same slowpoke is very sure that the same President is working and having meetings, I presume, from his hospital bed ? What kind of fools do these Abuja people think we all are ? |
seunmsg:Ha ha ha. Can we get you now agree that Buhari, as widely predicted, is a harbinger of chaos , and that support for that dishonest faker was the biggest mistake anyone could have made ? ![]() Are your zombie eyes quickly clearing ? You're free to come home to your senses , prodigal sons and daughters. ![]() |
Fxxx you Unongo. The North has held power for most of Nigeria's history. If the North remains very underdeveloped as a result of the wickedness of your parasitic elites, then surely that is an indictment against the North, proof that the North should not be trusted with political power. |
Deicide:I use math as an example because the reason math skills are normally used to measure intelligence is because understanding numbers and their relationships mproves logical reasoning, rationality , and of course, self awareness. |
Deicide:Aside genetic dispositions, it could very depend on how the COGNITIVE SKILLS were developed at infancy. We know that poor nutrition and hunger as well as malaria, for example, can negatively affect early COGNITIVE development, which would inevitably show in some learning disabilities or poor math skills. |
Deicide:Let me give you an example. Math tests, standard math tests are usually used to test or measure intelligence. People good in math are usually labeled "intelligent' , while people who are very poor in math are usually labeled dumb or OLODO(apologies to Deepsight). Now, as a result , many potentially bright young people give up on themselves and future possibilities very early in their youth because of their poor math skills. Using myself as an example, I realized late in secondary school that poor math teachers were the main problems associated with math phobia. I needed math in my career choice, so I motivated myself to conquer the phobia and devote my time to embrace math. After much much practice, I noticed that my brain/ mind began to organize numbers in my own custom unique patterns, and I began to be able to do complex calculations and math problems with greater ease over time,.a skill l still retain. To put this in biological context, we have the two hemispheres of the brain, the instinctive and the logical, always fighting for supremacy. The instinctive part is the older, more primitive , rigid, very short focused, more animalistic part of the brain that was very useful in the earlier stages of our evolution, when we solely relied on instincts and primitive impulses for our very survival. This instinctive side always wants to call the shots and have its way. In the side, we have the more recently evolved logical , rational part of the brain that is constantly challenging the status quo. This part of the brain also perceives in numbers and spatial terms. In summary, with practice, the logical and rational part of the brain can overshadow the instinctive, primitive part of brain , thereby increasing logical reasoning ability, rationality , clarity and a simplified way of dealing with complex issues. This dovetails with the thrust of the OP and the scientific conclusions quoted : that religion is part of the primitive instincts, and that a a breakaway from instinctive primitive behavior is an improvement in intelligence. |
PastorAIO:Copyright granted, good ol sire. ![]() |
Deicide:Have you heard of Neural Plasticity ? In layman's terms, " practice makes perfect ". This simply means that if you practice anything , any Skill long enough, you will gradually improve your ability, become good at it, and able to completely master or a genius at it, any Skill at all. In other words, every one is inbued with unlimited intelligence cranial dexterity, and under the right enabling environment, the brain or mind is naturally malleable enough to exponentially increase in intelligence or stagnate. I made this similar argument earlier in the week in another thread, that our natural habitats in subsahara Africa, with our tropical vegetation and age old cultural norms had always been impediments to the growth and nurturing of Natural Curiosity and Intellectualism, and hence, our shortcomings in literary works, architecture and scientific achievements. |
akintom:The problem, I always say, is that the so-called Nigerian Christians hardly ever understand what Christianity is , how it began and how it had evolved over the ages. Nigerians see and use Christianity as just another convenient superstition to replace the superstitions of their forefathers. |
OtemAtum:Faith is a mystery. The more silly it gets, the deeper it goes. These Nigeria evangelical parasites travel out of the country for expensive comprehensive Medical checkups and treatments, and them come home to tell their brainless sheeple to pray fervently for good health and healing. I have exhausted all the disgust in my being for these Tapeworms. |
DeepSight:Which two men established universities ? Are you referring to these social parasites that sap resources from the poor, and then use same to build for profit universities for the children of the elite ? Are you referring to these Tapeworms , these self- confessed witch hunters and purveyors of magical thinking, fear and blackmail as having contributed to intellectual development ? ![]() How many free or subsidized daycare center or primary schools have any of these parasites ever established, even for the exclusive benefit of their local parish members? ![]() These men promote and sell fear and then great profit from same. That is the antithesis of intellectual development. You are really olodo, Depardo Pls stop insulting our collective intelligence. |
IgbosAreGreat:Same thoughts came to my mind. |
KingEbukasBlog:Ahh! I sometimes forget that you are such a child. |
KingEbukasBlog:Gosh. You are such a child. ![]() |
DeepSight:Religious people from where exactly ? Nigeria ? You guys are so eager to defend religion, that you completely miss the point . The religious people , the minds that built the ancient monasteries for study and careful contemplation of nature and the universe are far far different than the charlatans of of our clime that pollute the our mental landscape with superstitions for profit. The religious system that established the Collegia are far far different from our current parasitic , religious fraud market where money is exchanged for stone age superstitions. I am specifically about superstitions, both traditional and religious, and how it shapes the African mind, and impedes the expansion of his intellectual potentials. At least the Roman Catholic Church, being the oldest chancery in the world, is a promoter of education and intellectualism. They run school systems and school boards in almost every country in the world. But what about our local brewed versions of Christianity, championed by the Adeboyes, the Oyedepos, etc ? What do they add to education, science and intellectual development ? How can they , when they depend upon and feed fat on the promotion of magical thinking and superstitions ? Is it any wonder that NONE of Nigeria's mega religious cults runs a free or subsidized educational system of any type, even for their members ? ![]() Remove your head from the sand and call a spade a spade, sire. Religion is superstition, and superstition, deeply embedded superstitions are the bane of intellectual development in sub Sahara Africa. Simple. |
Trudax:Straight line correlation. |
KingEbukasBlog:Have been to any of these two countries ? I am betting you that on a per capita basis, a North Korean and a Cuban live better than a better quality of life a Nigerian or any country in sub Sahara African, except for south Africa and Angola. |
KingEbukasBlog:All the crap you just spewed here have very little to do with the issues being addressed here. It's amazing how your mind works, totally and perhaps cowardly evading the thrust of my argument , but attacking me instead . Amazingly, the very issue being discussed here. Let try to break it down in chewable , plebeian form for you. My argument is that culture and social environment puts too much emphasis on magical thinking, the kind of magical thinking that , for example, evangelical Churchianity , proliferate and actually feed upon. Nigeria is greatest example. In a situation, where , for example, you had more than 90 different Churchian religious fellowships in your University campus, what room is left, who is left for unbiased intellectual pursuits, scientific curiosity, thinking beyond the religious Babble , asking critical questions about existence and the universe ? You , perhaps are the best example of a system of education that soaks and drowns Young precious minds with garbage, stone age garbage, the equivalent of depleted uranium of the mental kind. And I actually think you're naturally smart, but MENTALLY encumbered with unintellectual magical thinking. Now, imagine youths much less smarter than yourself. Imagine what religious indoctrination greatly narrows and messes up their worldview. |
ooman:Yeah Man, longest time. Nice to see ya again. |
Trudax:There has been a long scientific debate about nature vs nurture. NATURE gives you, everyone, certain dispositions. But NURTURE( social/ cultural environment) can either foster or impede the expression of these dispositions. Our social/ cultural setup impedes the intellectual potential. Just look at Nigeria, for example, country that produces the best in almost Field of human endeavor the Diaspora, but has very serious, very chronic intellectual dearth back home, with everyone, old and young , still beholden to stone age superstitions from the middle East, embracing and hugging them as if they were our very own. Look at our educational setup back home ,where my child's biology teacher, rather than taking and tasking her , step by step, on the wonder of photosynthesis, would rather the young minds that god is responsible for photosynthesis. Or the 90 or so religious fellowships at kingebukasblog Delta State university. Can you see that as with our forefathers, so it is today or even worse on the continual war against intellectualism in our society. The African mind is rewired to be anti intellectual right from childhood. Look at how many charlatans like Adeboye, Oyedepo, Mbaka there are in every nook and corner of Nigeria promoting magical thinking, an open war against intellectualism. |
Trudax:Hhhhmmm. It's difficult to honestly answer this question without appearing self-deprecating. Going by the letter of the question, my answer is yes( and many will come for my head). Intellectually inferior in the sense that we , our entire cultural setups are somewhat impediments to intellectual exploration and expansion. Our intellectual shortcomings are by NO means, and let me emphasize it, BY No means genetic, but due to accumulated and entrenched cultural/religious norms and habits. N:B And let me emphasize that I personally make a distinction between intelligence and intellectual expression. The difference between the two are culture. Every human is embued with intelligence. Intellectualism is the expression of that innate intelligence. Some cultures foster the expression of intelligence, intellectualism, while many cultures, such as we have in subsahara Africa, impedes the expression of that innate intelligence. I hope the above makes some sense. ![]() I am not even sure it does. ![]() |
urheme:I wonder whether this so-called illusion is created by the so-called one infinite source, the infinite mind, or, it it's just part of the grand illusion. If someone claims to be living in an illusion, then based on what reality does one make such an assertion ? In other words, to understand an illusion or make a case for an illusion , one must know what is real. The two must be distinguishable. To repeatedly shoult that everything is an illusion, including your very thoughts on the matter, seems to me like just a walk into the twilight zone of mild ,, eehhm, eehhm, .. |
texanomaly:And I thought I was the only one who noticed. Deepsight has gone full blown OLODO. ![]() |
nerodenero:Nigerian pastors know that they are frauds , and are only in the god racket for cash and sex. Some of these East African Pastors actually believe in the Crap that they are selling or mentally ill. |
hahn:Yeah, at least god answered the prayers of hungry alligators. ![]() |
Aufbauh:Lol. So god is just another Merlin. Lol. |
