In a dramatic week in which six suspects were arrested and appeared in court, police are building a case against the person who ordered her murder. Henning, 26, was gunned down by two men on a motorbike shortly after dropping off her four-year-old son at his creche in Faerie Glen, in eastern Pretoria, almost two weeks ago. The blonde teaching assistant was embroiled in a bitter divorce and custody battle with her child's father, Nico Henning, 45. Those arrested - ranging from a drug-addicted policeman and a Nigerian security company boss to Henning's estranged husband's best friend - are still in custody. Nico Henning, in his first and only interview since the murder, told the Sunday Times he had "continually assisted the police". "I am worried about my safety and my child's," he said. He spoke before his friend, former policeman Andre Gouws, appeared in court as an accomplice to the murder. However, details about his past have also caught the attention of the team of investigators from both the police and the Hawks. The Sunday Times has established that: Nico Henning's first marriage also ended acrimoniously; His first wife's family have given police a statement on the unhappy and short-lived marriage; Gouws attended Nico's and Chanelle's lavish wedding in 2006, although the bride intensely disliked him; and Nico posted guards outside his house in Pecanwood Estate in Hartbeespoort, Gauteng, this week. He was a prosecutor and defence lawyer before building his business empire. He is also a pilot and owns two small aircraft . His father, Dr Almero Henning, was beaten to death with a hammer on his farm in the Eastern Cape in 1994. Nico was a prosecutor in Bell-ville, Cape Town, at the time and made a public plea for the death penalty to be reinstated. He was quoted in Die Burger newspaper, saying: "I blame the government for the chaos in this country, and judges' hands are tied because they can't hand down the death penalty." He said he wanted to leave the country because "a person's life is worthless". On Thursday, Nico said he was cooperating with the police investigation and would continue to do so. He said: "It's a very difficult time for me." The family of his first wife said Nico approached them last year to get a character statement to help in his custody battle. But they refused. Police are now confident their main suspect will be behind bars soon, with an official close to the case saying they were "tightening the screws" and building a "watertight" case. "We are 101% certain we have our man. His arrest is imminent." So far police have arrested: Suspended police constable and drug addict Gerhardus "Doepie" du Plessis, who is believed to have been the gunman; Former Nigerian Olympic athlete and suspected druglord Ambrose Monye, who police believe organised the hit; Nico's friend, Gouws, who is understood to have been the "middle man" between the mastermind and Monye; Deon Schoeman, 20, who is alleged to have stolen the firearm and is the only suspect out on R1 000 bail; Preshan Singh, 24, who allegedly acquired the gun from Schoeman; and Willem Pieterse, who is believed to have driven the getaway bike. The accused are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and a range of other crimes. They will again appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. A former colleague of Du Plessis said the disgraced cop was "not a bad guy until he got hooked on drugs". Henning's parents, Ivan and Sharon Saincic, said they were disappointed that a judge on Thursday again placed their grandson with foster parents. The boy had been in the custody of his father, and the Saincics had visitation rights. They will now have to undergo assessments to see if they are fit and able custodians of the boy. Still reeling, Ivan revealed how Nico swept their daughter off her feet and asked him for her hand in marriage. He said: "He took us to The Palace [at Sun City] and asked for her hand. He promised to treat her like a queen." http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2011/11/20/murdered-mom-cops-closing-in-on-mastermind-behind-the-hit

This not just about oil anymore but more about total domination. The USA is scared sh!tless of china because China has strong business presence in Africa. The only way to counter china,s growing presence in Africa is to maintain a strong US military presence in Africa. While to a certain extent China brings business to Africa,USA only brings war . The best way to save the continent is for African leaders to collectively defy the USA and sign a military protection act with russia,Brazil,Iran,India and china. That will instantly checkmate the USA and its military. The USA cannot defeat china, brazil, iran,India and russia in a full scale war even if they employed the help of Nato (which is always the case). The USA is dying, their economy is crumbling even though they are still trying to hang on.The dollar will be in trouble within the next 16 months, mark my words. The leaders of the west have their own back up plans but are not telling their citizens. As time goes on the their real agenda will start to unfold. |
Gbawe:You Sir are always on point, well said. The USA has no interest in going after the boko haram sponsors because they probably funded those sponsors through their numerous covert ops. This is the New World Order ,it is here to stay and there is nothing we can do about it.Many people are still blinded by the blue white red stripes that they do not realize the potential danger this move posses to the ordinary Nigerian who does not have an escape route when the poo hits the fan. It is obvious that Nigerians will never wake up so i will suggest to those who are aware of the truth to make back up plans for their family members to escape to safety when the attacks become unbearable. |
[quote author=ndu_chucks link=topic=789321.msg9441794#msg9441794 date=1319889461]@playmode & Beaf, Its quite a shame that you people choose fight and hold grudges here on NL, where both of you are faceless. You may be neighbors, siblins, or even blood relatives in real life and should be ashameds of yourselves for letting a faceless forum get the best out of you, on a beautiful Saturday. May I recommend that you take a chill pill, find a nice woman and make passionate love to her. If you are too mean in real life to find one, for pete's sake buy a few condoms (and viagra - I suspect you will definitely need that) and look for a correct Karuwa. awon olodo rabata. Get your personal fights da heck out of here, it is sickening!! geeeeettttttooooout!!! [/quote]To be fair ,i don't think we are fighting. We are just microphone testing, ![]() |
Beaf:Did you just say my tone in my first comment on this thread was agrressive? How, please elaborate? Dude you have used words and terms worse than "pissed" to address your co-debaters on NL. Remember i am not some new kid on the block on NL ,i have been here for over a year and i have read through some of your debates against people who oppose GEJ.The word "Pissed" is child's play when compared to the words you have used to address or describe your co-debaters on NL. I have never tried to change your mind about GEJ so please don't say i am trying to coerce you.I wouldn't dare waste my time on such fruitless efforts. This thread is about your behaviour not about GEJ.The only thing i have ever done is to counter your arguments and try to make other people see that you are a GEJ paid agent strategically placed on NL to decieve ordinary Nigerians in to falling in love with your master. I am not annoyed on the contrary i feel pity for you.Supporting GEJ does not make you a traitor but supporting his corrupt Government and his looting makes you one. |
Beaf:You just exhibited the exact behaviour i talked about in my comment. While i tried to use a civilized tone you responded in your ususal aggressive manner and referred to my comment as a sob story.Dude i am too hardcore for sob stories ,you of all people should know that. You said you never start flame wars? What a pathological liar you are.Just recently you started a thread insinuating that Aregbesola slapped Fashola. What do you call that? There are several threads where you have instigated verbal wars.Your response to my comment just instigated another one.You and your bunch of moronic followers label anyone who criticizes GEJ's style of leadership as pro buhari jihadists.Think before you comment and stop exposing yourself as the unrepentant shameless liar that you are. I will like you to point out to everyone here where i was the first to threaten to kill you or anyone for that matter. If i recall correctly a "fake" female poster wished death on me and you followed suit to which i responded with my own threats. I will also like you to point out where i participated or promoted bullying of anyone on NL.As usual you try to distort people's comments, did you not see where i mentioned that i was PISSED at your BLIND(emphasis on BLIND) support for GEJ.I am not surprised because that is what you are being paid to do. So an adult being pissed at another adult is unrefined and disgraceful behaviour? That is news to me.However as per your logic your loudmouth presido GEJ did not exhibit unrefined or disgraceful behaviour when he referred to Yoruba politicians as RASCALS? You remain a traitor to our great country as you like to twist and turn reality to suit your selfish purpose. I am sure everyone on NL knows that you have more than 3 monikers that you use on NL constantly so i won't debate that with you.It is an open secret that you are NL's official chameleon.By the way yourlast statement just shows why most people on NL regard you as a clueless noboby and a lost cause.Nope, it is not my call because i am not ready to dine with the devil.Keep being who you are and i will keep being who i am ,we are not here to make friends ,remember? |
I must say that i have great respect for GBAWE and i am impressed at the response he gave the poster.Such an astute gentlemen. I have never really followed Jakumo and Katsumoto but from the few comments i have read from them. There is no doubt that they are both very intelligent individuals. Now about BEAF,this is a tricky one because he has many usernames. The first time i encountered this guy we exchanged insults (I am not sure who started it) to the extent that he once wished death upon me.A while after that we sort of agreed on something and i decided to use a gentle tone with him. Then came the elections and he really pissed me off with his blind support for GEJ.Like the poster said he could never admit when GEJ did something wrong or suspicious. After the elections,we have exchange insults on a few occasions maybe because we have only engaged on a few topics.Beaf is a good debater but he has to stop demonizing anyone who criticizes GEJ.He needs to be able to objectively understand his co-debaters point of view without resulting to insults. |
My cousin in sydney just told me now that the Nigerian entourage is the laughing stock of the day in Australia. Most of the the political forums in Australia are busy disccussing and laughing about Jonathan and his "thugs".What a shame |
Beaf:You must really think you are important. All those people you have mentioned only engaged you in arguments over your support for Jonathief and his corrupt Government. If anyone wants you dead ,you will be dead a long time ago.You are nobody and you do not hold any power so stop wetting your pants. |
Aigbofa:That is a good idea. |
Ola Bamitu:That is uncalled for, the opinion of Ekt_bear and others do not represent the opinion of all Ekitis. I am an ekiti myself and I am very sad that the Governor handled the matter in this way. That being said thereare issues which were raised which also gives one reason to investigate further. Are these physically challenged people residents of Ekiti state for over 5 years? Have their parents or Guardians residents in the state for over 5 years? If the answer to the above question is a solid yes, then the Governor was wrong to turn them away in the manner he did. If however they came all the way from delta state specifically to be enrolled in those schools at the expense of Ekiti state Government, then we have to look at the budget of Ekiti state and what is available for care of handicapped people. If the cost is unbearably high and if the Governor feels that the money can be used elsewhere to cater for Ekiti indigenes then the matter is a tricky one and we can’t just demonize the Governor. The fact of the matter is that our country is a failed nation and that is why you find the need for some Governors to result to such drastic measure to solve certain problems. If you look at the Old Libya all citizen got free Medicare for small ,there was no province deporting indigenes to another province because the infrastructure in the entire country was grade A and everyone was catered for. Unfortunately Nigeria is a modern day jungle practising a corrupt democratic system of Government. |
wesley80:*Cough*Cough* My comment dey pepe you? alias beaf ,shameless houseboy! |
Personally i don't understand the hype about Facebook and twitter talkless of Google+.I don't use any of those services because as a businessman,i always either in a meeting , on the road or working at my desk. When i get home ,i switch on my HTPC connected to my ADSL line and watch movies ,cartoon ,series e.t.c Otherwise i play my xbox 360 till i am tired or download movies online. For me that is more fun than chatting with friends on facebook.Other days when i am feeling kinky ,i get my full dose of black P.O.R, N on my laptop.I also spend a lot of time on tech and gaming blogs. Contrary to what you may think I am not old school ,i own every gadget you can imagine from wifi ready smart 3D LED Tvs , Pcs ,HTPCs,Media players,HD Digicams, smart phones, tablets and game consoles. I just never liked social media networking or maybe i am just not a "friendly" person.I am more of a family man, my wife and kids are my best friends. When i am not at work ,i am around my family and i enjoy their company always. |
asha 80:Asha80 ,i understand where you are coming from but i guess macjive01 is optimistic. I hope it is true because this rochas guy talks(brags) too much. |
I don't support this at all. This is inhumane,we are citizens of the same country. This is more or less Apartheid. If the governor wants to save money,he should cut down the salary of all top Government officials and do away with expensive Government cars. If Ekiti state can not take care of the children ,they should appeal to the FGN for help or create a website where concerned citizens can donate to help fund the care of this people. If the Governor wants to contest in an election now ,it won't be hard for him to find sponsors. That is why i maintain that Africans are the most selfish people on this planet.I think our Governors are now starting to get arrogant and selfish. We Yorubas are not monsters and we don't support actions like this. These are not beggars ,they are physically challenged people. On the other hand ,the delta state Government should be ashamed of itself. With all the money being generated from oil ,how come they can't cater for their needy ![]() |
If this true ,it shows how some people have no dignity. A guy as intelligent as this going around and deceiving his own people. What a waste of talent,i wonder how he sleeps at night. ![]() |
"This is my will. I, Muammar bin Mohammad bin Abdussalam bi Humayd bin Abu Manyar bin Humayd bin Nayil al Fuhsi Gaddafi, do swear that there is no other God but Allah and that Mohammad is God's Prophet, peace be upon him. I pledge that I will die as Muslim. Should I be killed, I would like to be buried, according to Muslim rituals, in the clothes I was wearing at the time of my death and my body unwashed, in the cemetery of Sirte, next to my family and relatives. I would like that my family, especially women and children, be treated well after my death. The Libyan people should protect its identity, achievements, history and the honorable image of its ancestors and heroes. The Libyan people should not relinquish the sacrifices of the free and best people. I call on my supporters to continue the resistance, and fight any foreign aggressor against Libya, today, tomorrow and always. Let the free people of the world know that we could have bargained over and sold out our cause in return for a personal secure and stable life. We received many offers to this effect but we chose to be at the vanguard of the confrontation as a badge of duty and honor. Even if we do not win immediately, we will give a lesson to future generations that choosing to protect the nation is an honor and selling it out is the greatest betrayal that history will remember forever despite the attempts of the others to tell you otherwise."

Confiscating Libyan Financial Assets Libya`s frozen overseas financial assets are estimated to be of the order of $150 billion, with NATO countries holding more than $100 billion. Prior to the war, Libya had no debts. In fact quite the opposite. It was a creditor nation investing in neighboring African countries. The R2P military intervention is intended to spearhead the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya into the straightjacket of an indebted developing country, under the surveillance of the Washington based Bretton Woods institutions. In a bitter irony, after having stolen Libya's oil wealth and confiscated its overseas financial assets, the "donor community" has pledged to lend the (stolen) money back to finance Libya's post-war "reconstruction". Libya is slated to join the ranks of indebted African countries which have driven into poverty by IMF and the World Bank since the onsalught of the debt crisis in the early 1980s: The IMF promised a further $35-billion in funding [loans] to countries affected by Arab Spring uprisings and formally recognized Libya’s ruling interim council as a legitimate power, opening up access to a myriad of international lenders as the country [Libya] looks to rebuild after a six-month war. , Getting IMF recognition is significant for Libya’s interim leaders as it means international development banks and donors such as the World Bank can now offer financing. The Marseille talks came a few days after world leaders agreed in Paris to free up billions of dollars in frozen assets [stolen money] to help [through loans] Libya’s interim rulers restore vital services and rebuild after a conflict that ended a 42-year dictatorship. The financing deal by the Group of Seven major economies plus Russia is aimed at supporting reform efforts [IMF sponsored structural adjustment] in the wake of uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East. The financing is mostly in the form of loans, rather than outright grants, and is provided half by G8 and Arab countries and half by various lenders and development banks. Price Controls over Essential Food Staples In most developing countries, essential food prices have skyrocketed, as a result of market deregulation, the lifting of price controls and the eliminaiton of subsidies, under "free market" advice from the World Bank and the IMF. In recent years, essential food and fuel prices have spiralled as a result of speculative trade on the major commodity exchanges. Libya was one of the few countries in the developing World which maintained a system of price controls over essential food staples. World Bank President Robert Zoellick acknowledged in an April 2011 statement that the price of essential food staples had increased by 36 percent in the course of the last year. See Robert Zoellick, World Bank The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya had established a system of price controls over essential food staples, which was maintained until the onset of the NATO led war. While rising food prices in neighbouring Tunisia and Egypt spearheaded social unrest and political dissent, the system of food subsidies in Libya was maintained. These are the facts confirmed by several UN specialised agencies. "Missile Diplomacy" and "The Free Market" War and Globalization are intiricately related. The IMF and NATO work in tandem, in liason with the Washington think tanks. The NATO operation purports to enforce the neoliberal economic agenda. Countries which are reluctant to accept the sugar coated bullets of IMF "economic medicine" will eventually be the object of a R2P NATO humanitarian operation. Déjà Vu? Under the British Empire, "gun boat diplomacy" was a means to imposing "free trade". On October 5, 1850, England's Envoy to the Kingdom of Siam, Sir James Brooke recommended to Her Majesty's government that: "should these just demands [to impose free trade] be refused, a force should be present, immediately to enforce them by the rapid destruction of the defenses of the [Chaopaya] river, Siam may be taught the lesson which it has long been tempting-- its Government may be remodelled, A better disposed king placed on the throne and an influence acquired in the country which will make it of immense commercial importance to England" (The Mission of Sir James Brooke, quoted in M.L. Manich Jumsai, King Mongkut and Sir John Bowring, Chalermit, Bangkok, 1970, p. 23) Today we call it "Regime Change" and "Missile Diplomacy" which invariably takes the shape of a UN sponsored "No Fly Zone". Its objective is to impose the IMF's deadly "economic medicine" of austerity measures and privatization. The World Bank financed "reconstruction" programs of war torn countries are coordinated with US-NATO military planning. They are invariably formulated prior to onslaught of the military campaign, Continue article here : http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=26686 |
Education The adult literacy rate was of the order of 89%, (2009), (94% for males and 83% for females). 99.9% of youth are literate (UNESCO 2009 figures, See UNESCO, Libya Country Report) Gross primary school enrolment ratio was 97% for boys and 97% for girls (2009) . (see UNESCO tables at http://stats.uis.unesco.org/unesco/TableViewer/document.aspx?ReportId=121&IF_Language=eng&BR_Country=4340&BR_Region=40525 The pupil teacher ratio in Libya's primary schools was of the order of 17 (1983 UNESCO data), 74% of school children graduating from primary school were enrolled in secondary school (1983 UNESCO data). Based on more recent date, which confirms a marked increase in school enrolment, the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in secondary schools was of the order of 108% in 2002. The GER is the number of pupils enrolled in a given level of education regardless of age expressed as a percentage of the population in the theoretical age group for that level of education. For tertiary enrolment (postsecondary, college and university), the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) was of the order of 54% in 2002 (52 for males, 57 for females). (For further details see http://stats.uis.unesco.org/unesco/TableViewer/document.aspx?ReportId=121&IF_Language=eng&BR_Country=4340&BR_Region=40525 Women's Rights With regard to Women's Rights, World Bank data point to significant achievements. "In a relative short period of time, Libya achieved universal access for primary education, with 98% gross enrollment for secondary, and 46% for tertiary education. In the past decade, girls’ enrollment increased by 12% in all levels of education. In secondary and tertiary education, girls outnumbered boys by 10%." (World Bank Libya Country Brief, emphasis added) |
Libya's Development Achievements Whatever one's views regarding Moamar Gadaffi, the post-colonial Libyan government played a key role in eliminating poverty and developing the country's health and educational infrastructure. According to Italian Journalist Yvonne de Vito, "Differently from other countries that went through a revolution – Libya is considered to be the Switzerland of the African continent and is very rich and schools are free for the people. Hospitals are free for the people. And the conditions for women are much better than in other Arab countries." (Russia Today, August 25, 2011) These developments are in sharp contrast to what most Third World countries were able to "achieve" under Western style "democracy" and "governance" in the context of a standard IMF-World Bank Structural Adjustment program (SAP). Public Health Care Public Health Care in Libya prior to NATO's "Humanitarian Intervention" was the best in Africa. "Health care is [was] available to all citizens free of charge by the public sector. The country boasts the highest literacy and educational enrolment rates in North Africa. The Government is [was] substantially increasing the development budget for health services, (WHO Libya Country Brief ) Confirmed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), undernourishment was less than 5 %, with a daily per capita calorie intake of 3144 calories. (FAO caloric intake figures indicate availability rather than consumption). The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya provided to its citizens what is denied to many Americans: Free public health care, free education, as confirmed by WHO and UNESCO data. According to the World Health Organization (WHO): Life expectancy at birth was 72.3 years (2009), among the highest in the developing World. Under 5 mortality rate per 1000 live births declined from 71 in 1991 to 14 in 2009 |
Destroying a Country's Standard of Living: What Libya Had Achieved, What has been Destroyed "There is no tomorrow" under a NATO sponsored Al Qaeda rebellion. While a "pro-democracy" rebel government has been instated, the country has been destroyed. Against the backdrop of war propaganda, Libya's economic and social achievements over the last thirty years, have been brutally reversed: The [Libyan Arab Jamahiriya] has had a high standard of living and a robust per capita daily caloric intake of 3144. The country has made strides in public health and, since 1980, child mortality rates have dropped from 70 per thousand live births to 19 in 2009. Life expectancy has risen from 61 to 74 years of age during the same span of years. (FAO, Rome, Libya, Country Profile,) According to sectors of the "Progressive Left" which have endorsed NATO's R2P mandate: "The mood across Libya, particularly in Tripoli, is absolutely —like there’s just a feeling of euphoria everywhere. People are incredibly excited about starting afresh. There’s a real sense of rebirth, a feeling that their lives are starting anew. (DemocracyNow.org, September 14, 2011 emphasis added) The rebels are casually presented as "liberators". The central role of Al Qaeda affilated terrorists within rebel ranks is not mentioned. "Starting afresh" in the wake of destruction? Fear and Social Despair, Countless Deaths and Atrocities, amply documented by the independent media. No euphoria, A historical reversal in the country's economic and social development has occurred. The achievements have been erased. The NATO invasion and occupation marks the ruinous "rebirth" of Libya's standard of living That is the forbidden and unspoken truth: an entire Nation has been destabilized and destroyed, its people driven into abysmal poverty. The objective of the NATO bombings from the outset was to destroy the country's standard of living, its health infrastructure, its schools and hospitals, its water distribution system. And then "rebuild" with the help of donors and creditors under the helm of the IMF and the World Bank. The diktats of the "free market" are a precondition for the instatement of a Western style "democratic dictatorship ". About nine thousand strike sorties, tens of thousands of strikes on civilian targets including residential areas, government buildings, water supply and electricity generation facilities. (See NATO Communique, September 5, 2011. 8140 strike sorties from March 31 to September 5, 2011) An entire nation has been bombed with the most advanced ordnance, including uranium coated ammunition. Already in August, UNICEF warned that extensive NATO bombing of Libya's water infrastructure "could turn into an unprecedented health epidemic “ (Christian Balslev-Olesen of UNICEF's Libya Office, August 2011). Meanwhile investors and donors have positioned themselves. "War is Good for Business'. NATO, the Pentagon and the Washington based international financial institutions (IFIs) operate in close coordination. What has been destroyed by NATO will be rebuilt, financed by Libya's external creditors under the helm of the "Washington Consensus": "Specifically, the [World] Bank has been asked to examine the need for repair and restoration of services in the water, energy and transport sectors [bombed by NATO] and, in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, to support budget preparation [austerity measures] and help the banking sector back on to its feet [The Libyan Central bank was one of the first government buildings to be bombed]. Employment generation for young Libyans has been added as an urgent need facing the country." (World Bank to Help Libya Rebuild and Deliver Essential Services to Citizens emphasis added) |
