HealthRe: Are Nigerians Who Reject Free Condoms Hypocrites? by plendil: 8:46pm On Dec 03, 2014
pro01:
Most free condoms dey always be all these yeye Gold Circle or 'Jones' condoms wey dey dry and prone to tearing anyhow (I don experience them on some desperate, no-other-option nights) . If dem give me free Durex and such condoms even for inside Church or for Pope presence, I go collect o. Hypocrisy no dey inside that wan.
That's where most people miss it. Gold circle is manufactured with the highest quality assurance standard available for the product; its cost however is subsidized in order to make it as accessible as possible. This has also made it difficult to make counterfeit condoms. I can tell you for fact it possibly one of the best brands available.

I use some myself and do know the lubricant is sufficient most of the time. The possible reasons for failure include:

Heat: this easily damages the condoms directly or could make the lubricant thinner and less effective. Thus storing in high temperatures (eg in a car, in the back pocket is discouraged.

Poor storage

CelebritiesRe: This Annoying Thing About Nigerian Comedians by plendil: 8:15pm On Dec 03, 2014
The problem, I believe, with comedy is that it requires constant originality. Unlike the music industry where one can listen to a song over and over again without getting bored, once I've heard a joke once--possible twice for a very good one--its very unlikely such a joke will elicit any laughter from me.

This of course means comedians unlike other other artistes have to work extra hard to come up original jokes all the time. That, I believe is where the problem lies: most are too lazy and so end recycling.
PhonesRe: TECNO H3 – Full Specifications And Price In Nigeria by plendil: 5:02am On Dec 03, 2014

The problem I have with techno phones is that they're too bulky.

This leads to another question. Why is it that it is only hausas that prepare and sell suya? Why can't we see ibo, yoruba, efik, ijaw, urhobor, or edo suya sellers?
good question
HealthRe: Lagos Has 1 Million HIV/AIDS Patients? by plendil: 6:34pm On Nov 30, 2014
ANBAKO:
Even though I believe in protected sex or only one partner (I prefer the later), I strongly believe that the figures of HIV infected people being published in Nigeria is not real. I believe people, Government, NGO, health societies are just inflating these figure in order for the foreign aid associated to HIV to keep coming. Do you know how much foundations like Bill and Belinda Gate foundation, DFID, USAID etc donate to NGO and government to combat HIV? Of course the figure will keep increase in order to increase the funding.

How did they do the statistics?, where and when was data collated? Did ever state these? No. Because all the figures is just "permutation and combination".

Ask yourself a simple question how many people do you? and how many has HIV or died of HIV? How many of the people that you know someone with HIV? If yes how many do they know...How many poeple in your street died of HIV? How many in your school, church, office, Mosque is infected with HIV?My believe is that HIV infected people are less that 1 percent of the population. Take it or leave.

Protect yourself.
Pardon me sir, your post is ridden with ignorance.

Funding for HIV?AIDS control programs, especially the PEPFAR-based (which arguably takes the largest share) has been on a steady decrease despite the fact that there's been more patients placed on medication in the past few years. The foreign donors have insisted that the Nigerian government take up more responsibility in the care of their patients. So the 'artificial inflation' of figures (if it exists) has no effect whatsoever.

The prevalence figures are obtained from a variety of sources such as general hospital attendance, anti-natal attendance, outreach testing programs (like the one usually held on Dec 1st, etc). Of course, not every single Nigerian has been tested; but through some complex epidemiological and statistical processes, we can get the current prevalence with a fairly accurate degree - close to 95% accuracy.

I doubt if you've ever taken a trip to the HIV clinic of any of the major teaching hospitals to see the crowd there. That could explain your rather naive belief.
PoliticsRe: Oil Drops 6.30% To $69.05: Nigeria Could Be Headed For An Economic Disaster by plendil: 10:50pm On Nov 27, 2014
what of our subsidy money? was money not devoted to subsidy inour budget? what happens to it?
BusinessRe: The Bricklayer’s Explanation To Oil Price Fall, Naira Devaluation & Everything by plendil: 10:44pm On Nov 27, 2014
sureguy02:
That's the point. How come we are still buying fuel at the rate of N97? The price of petroleum products has come down in other countries, but it is still the same in Nigeria. Logically, there shouldn't be anything like subsidy in this period because there's nothing to subsidise as the price is down already.
So, something is wrong somewhere.
Everything about Nigeria defies logic
Thank you.

What is interesting is silence surrounding the large amount of money devoted to 'subsidy payment'.

I'll try to be considerate given the sensitive nature of the issue, but are to believe an average northerner cannot recognise the denomination without the Arabic imprint? REally??

As someone who lived in the north for quite a while, I know that is totally false.

It could be annoying though but all I tell female patients who don't want me to touch them is to use some medical terminologies which I know they can't understand to scare them. On Hearing such terminologies, female patients who don't want to fall victim releases themselves. But wait o! I wonder why the female nurses don't face such challenges with male patients.
Da fuq?? You mean a sick patient actually refused to be treated by nurse simply because he's male?

lyna10:
To me, I always feel that naturally nursing as a profession is for the females. So I don't see any reason as to why men should enter into such profession. It doesn't bring out the real men in them. We fail to understand that God gave women the most special gift of caring and so the females are better off doing such work than the males.
Did you say caringhuh? Sorry ma'am, it obviously doesn't apply to Nigerian Nurses, especially the Public hospitals.

Car TalkRe: Where Can One Get SAE 5W30 Engine Oil Here In Nigeria...? by plendil: 2:20pm On Nov 16, 2014
ZIMDRILL:
you need to understand what those number mean

5w (is for climates like europe) 5w meaning average winter temperature in the morning they call them winter grades http://www.upmpg.com/tech_articles/motoroil_viscosity/

is 5 degrees an average nigerian winter ? i guess thats the reason it is not common there becoz from actual meaning it is not meant for your region
Ive been wondering the same thing myself.

for instance, the a 5W-30 would become extremely thin at high temperatures, the kind you find in our environment, leading to poor fuel economy and increased engine wear.

I would assume the 10w or 20w would be more appropriate for our climate.

You guys lamenting here are probably unaware that the naira is being kept artificially high. If we should allow the market forces--demand vs suppply--take its full course, the actual value should be between 200 - 230 to a dollar.

zeelo2014:
What's wrong with the rate? I did 9.5% last week with diamond bank and I'm fine with that and seeing some of u here getting scared cos of the election, hello!! This is Nigeria and not Congo, Burkina Faso or CAR. 2015 election will come and go and nothing is gonna happen, June 12, 2007, 2011 all passed without anything after all the noise making. So invest ur money in treasury bills, Treasury bills is not a ponzi or money doubling scheme don't be too expectant.
I've been wondering the same thing myself. Ive read a lot of comments from some analysts advising that we hold on further TB till after elections. Are people anticipating breakup (heaven forbid!) or what?
