Mcy56: GTB: 63M+ traded so far, price is yet to move. Guess those that ran out are trying to jump back in, thus holding the price till they're done. Money speaks! another 10M added to make it 73M+................. I think there is a heavyweight selling, until he is done the price might not move. |

emmanuelewumi: Not only Caverton. Did you read the report from caverton. About 4 operators were given permission by the ministry of Aviation and NCAA. They are under essential services Wike might be claiming that he was the one that declared lockdown in the state and not the federal government. And as such, any exemption must come from him. |

nna777: FPIs are not in the market yet. Check the market well. PFAs snubbed the last OMO auction so they are taking position in GTB (check the volumes over 100M without 10%. watch. Don't get caught in the middle).
When FPIs and FDIs show, no one will tell you. You will be seeing 10% everywhere. If you observe, full bids are only in coys with improved dividends while others are tagging alone.
The OPEC+ meeting will make things clearer by Thursday. Don't get caught in the euphoria. It is difficult to say if FPI are around or not. We always wait for the reports at the end of the month. There is one oga here who I know can give us the true picture ...Sir Wanaj0 |

Just wondering if Zenith does not become an overhyped share since everyone seem to be suggesting it, just my thoughts. I don't think zenith is being over hyped. As far as I know, zenith offers probably the best dividend yield on nse. They have a pretty good history of dividend payment too. In the last 7 years, the least they have paid is N1.75k, that was 2013 and 2014. Having said this,I will not support the idea of you putting all your money in zenith bank when you are not Jim. There are other stocks with good dividend history but you will need more money to achieve the same result as they have lower dividend yield. |

RabbiDoracle: See the screenshot. Yes, I see. Classified as a national bank and not a regional bank. You are right about the ecobank ( a national bank in nigeria requiring a CAR of 10% minimum)as a subsidiary of ETI which is an international bank. Thanks for your observation. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by pluto09(m): 8:33pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
RabbiDoracle: It is a regional bank. Ecobank Nigeria is a subsidiary of the parent company headquartered in Lome (Togo).
The CAR of 12% is OK for regional banks in Nigeria. 10% is the minimum for national/regional banks in Nigeria.
15% is for Nigerian banks that want international presence. Is ecobank a regional bank or an international bank? I think the regional in this instance is a bank operating in one or two regions in the country like wema bank. I stand to be corrected. |

eziokwunwoko: Sirs Emmanuelewumi and onegentleguy Good evening: I have this question for your answers, plz reply me. I have studied the financial report of ETI for 5 years, they have made profit but have never paid dividend since 2015, reason capital preservation. I want to buy the stock for capital appreciation. I am waiting for the price to drop from 3.90 to 2.50 and hoping that 2020( q1,q2,Q3,q4) results will be better. Should I invest at that price. ETI CAR is about 12%, below regulatory minimum of 15% for Nigeria bank with foreign operations. This explains why the bank has not been paying dividend for some years. They need to conserve capital as much as they could. When CAR is below regulatory minimum, one needs to be extra careful. |

emmanuelewumi: I have a feeling that the new core investors of UACN group are cow boys, they are not different from those guys at Oando.
They are PE guys, they do financial engineering, restructuring , asset stripping and will later book profit.
They don't have any track records of running a business in the real sector or turning around any business .
They should have employed Mrs Lara Elemide as a non executive director of CAP Plc, this woman came on board when CAP Plc was less than N4.00 the company had a bonuses of 1 for 3, 1 for 3 and another 1 for 1 and the stock price still stood at N35.00 when the new core Investors of UACN came on board. I did an analysis some years back on how 100k Invested in CAP Plc grew to about N8 million within 15 years excluding the dividends.
While other subsidiaries of UACN we're struggling Mrs Lara Elemide made sure CAP Plc grew from strength to strength.
Under the new management of CAP Plc, staff cost went up by 40%, CEOs pay went up by over 200%,, profit went down.
And the first time in about 20 years shareholders will not be paid dividends. The retained earnings of the company also went down by over 10% between 2018 and 2019.
Corona virus happened in 2020, the dividend is for the financial year 2019. It is obvious the new management are not shareholder centric.
We are in a recession, they have not done much business in Q1, Q2 won't be different. People won't build houses during recession therefore demands will fall, demain for marine paints will also fall.
The dividend of about N2 billion which shareholders would have been paid will be used to maintain and pay, staff and management till 2021. Since what they have as retained earnings is a paltry N2 billion that is my own thinking, I might be wrong.
Concerning UNICO PFA, they have sold that subsidiary
The new core investors of UACN should have left good turnaround managers they met on ground at UACN eg Abdul Sule, Lara Elemide for about 2 years before retiring them and still have them as non executive directors for another 3 years.
Managing and growing a business is quite different from punching calculators, making projections and analyses which Private Equity investors are known for Thank you for your analysis. |

rebekah2011: Oga Onifa, but meffy can get inspired with actions like this. He knows the banks that are good and bad. Should we get worried that dividend in 2021 may be very thin or non-existent? I expect earnings to be negatively affected but the strong ones among the banks wiil do well relatively. The effect of the corona virus and low oil price will impact the banks and the country for a long time. We are lagging behind in testing people, there are a number of them waiting to be tested and as more people are getting tested, the number of confirmed cases is expected to spike. The initial 2week lockdown might likely be extended as that is our safest route. We have no capacity to manage an epidemic situation, will can only hope for success in containment. |
