maishai: Renaissance is a firm run by and for scientists, employing preferably those with non-financial backgrounds for quantitative finance research like mathematicians, statisticians, pure and experimental physicists, astronomers, and computer scientists. Wall Street experience is frowned on and a flair for science is prized.[19] It is a widely held belief within Renaissance that the herdlike mentality among business school graduates is to blame for poor investor returns.[6] Renaissance engages roughly 150 researchers and computer programmers, half of whom have PhDs in scientific disciplines, at its 50-acre East Setauket campus in Long Island, New York, which is near the State University of New York at Stony Brook.[24] Mathematician Isadore Singer referred to Renaissance's East Setauket office as the best physics and mathematics department in the world.

That why am angry with them. They really need to change this time. If Fidelity make mistake and pay 30 kobo, they will climb to #4. If you are looking for good dividend yield, look away from those banks.... They need to conserve capital and they don't need to impress people by paying high dividend. |

locodemy: Same ratio not same value.
10% of 10k is 1k.Can you use 1k to buy food stuff?
10% of 5m is 500k.I can manage this portion for one month.
Since I came to understand this 10%,I have not misused it even when I get trapped ,I look for fund to trade same stock at another lower support.
Try to get my point. Money is relative and not absolute.... Just as you are looking at 1k as small money somebody up there is looking at your 500k as small money too.... The koko is not to loose money. If you start with 5 million and as you claim, you are making 10% on a jijo, you will double your money when you do that 10 times. The same way someone who starts with 10k will have doubled his money if he can also do 10% ten times. |

Marlianvestor: The FPIs are just looking for guarantees re. their carry trade activities incl. the sustainability of their OMO bills participation) and Meffy has given them a longer 5 year FX forwards contract to appease them. With this, just watch out for the rising yield in the FGN bonds (thought very low now) and that to me, is the headwind for the stock markets, not imminent devaluation.... Once the yield is back in double digit, wahala dey for stock mkts! Yield was in double digits from 2018 to the later part of 2019 and NSE was still bearish...... We will surely know if fpi have been appeased or not with subsequent economic reports . |

Marlianvestor: Do you realise that the CBN just floated a 5-Year FX futures contract to reduce $ demand pressure in FX mkt, encourage $ inflows and at least stave off imminent devaluation for now, huh? Besides, the gov is planning to go back to d Eurobond mkt to raise $3b (not yet confirmed but likely)... In all these, it doesn't make any mkt sense to devalue now, many make-shift options still available... Abeg when we are crying wolf, let us at least validate our crying o! The fpi are exiting our market for a reason.......if they are not here, the probability of a sustained bull is remote.. The fg will not allow devaluation if there is a choice....we always do it when we have our back to the walls...... Nobody can say when devaluation will happen but there are indices to watch out for-, oil price and forex reserve... I don't argue with market but plan ahead on what to do when events happen.... I am still in the market but very light as I believe money can be made at anytime no matter the direction of the market.... We all have the freedom to choose how we play the market no matter what people are saying.. |

katamo: So just last week CBN introduced longer-term naira/USD contracts for up to 5 year settlement. Based on the contract prices published by the FMDQ, the longest dated contract maturing in January 2025 is priced at 379.81, implying a minimal discount of 4.0% to spot rate of 364.85 in the I&E Window. This makes me believe that CBN will continue to defend the naira as they will have to take large losses on currency devaluation. But then again, CBN can sometimes be irrational! The decision to devalue the naira has little to do with rationality.... The major determinant is oil price....if oil price is low CBN will have no option than to devalue the naira |

Bomboclad: True! I have found no symmetry between the movement of Oil Price & the ASI. If anyone has the analysis for such a study, I would be glad to be a student of yours. We have discussed the issue sometimes a go... NSE doesn't follow oil on a day by day or week by week movement... The correlation of oil with NSE is on the long time direction of oil... If oil price is bearish for a long time expect naira devaluation and you are better off not to be in NSE at the point of devaluation..... |

Toluway: I dont think jijo needs the fundamental os a stock. You only need a stock that is trending with high bids volume, and then jump out when it reverses. As a swing trader, you already know you cant win all the time, but your wins would be more. I'm beginning to admire the system. I was used to it when i was doing forex trading. But the problem wit forex trading is, when you want to quickly get out, the system will not allow you to, TELLING YOU MARKET IS BUSY, UNTIL YOU LOSE. That is why i stopped trading forex, and contending that it is a fraud. What happened to stop loss |
